Made a same day appointment for a state inspection and they were great, even calling ahead to tell me if i could get there early or not (based on me mentioning i may arrive ahead of my appointment). Professional and trustworthy based on the interactions i watched for the hour i was in the waiting room. Very stringent with disinfecting high touch areas in your vehicle and their shop. The waiting room is very old school, no thrills, so if planning on bringing an easily bored kid beware. Will happily come here for all of my future services.

Went to spectra yesterday for a state inspection. I fully expected to fail for a few things and surprisingly passed with flying colors. They had me in and out within 2 hours and were very courteous and respectful. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a shop with good communication and friendliness.

Great service took my car to pass inspection and were very knowledgeable about everything explained in detail. Took pictures of the things that were not functioning correctly and emailed them to. Overall experience was great. Might not be the cheapest but are great honest people.

I called ahead to get a quote to change my brake pads and rotors and they said that they would need to see my car but the brake consult would be free. I said why not and decided to bring it in and Im so glad I did! They were the most thorough and communicative shop I have EVER used. They looked over my whole car and sent me a full detailed report of everything for FREE. I ended up getting my rear brake pads and rotors changed as well as a brake fluid flush. Im very happy with the results! Needless to say, I found the shop Im ways going to take my car to.

When I called and made my appointment, the woman on the phone was very nice and helpful. She was just as personable when I got there. Service was said to take about an hour, to an hour and a half, and actually took just under an hour. I will happily return if I should need any other services

So impressed with this place over the last several years. They are professional, welcoming, accepting, and have impressive print outs summaries of what is going on with your car. Sometimes I wish they had later hours, but with the higher quality of care they provide your vehicle, they should take the luxury of having whatever hours they want.

We have been taking our cars here exclusively for the past 14 years. In that time we have owned a Toyota, Honda and 2 Subarus. Spectra has been 100% honest and fixed everything right the first time. On the Honda they even fixed a problem the dealership (Shockley) did not/ could not fix which was the idle air control valve. I did have an issue with the work they did once, and they stepped up, made it right, and were very professional about it.They are the type of shop that will fix things totally and completely the first time. FOR EXAMPLE ONLY, not a real case... This MIGHT mean replacing a part when other shops MIGHT weld it. Welding is likely cheaper, but replacement guarantees the problem totally fixed. I highly recommend Spectra for honest work that is going to last.

Spectra was great about helping me get my three out of state vehicles inspected. Most of the prices for required repairs seemed fair and they were not at all pushy about other things they found that werent necessary to pass inspection. I will definitely call here first.

Weve been taking our cars to Spectra since they opened 30 some years ago and have been quite pleased. They communicate well and do good work. Ive never felt they tried to upsell.

Spectra auto performed Maryland inspection only Mercedes sprinter van. They were really professional with excellent communication and took all the necessary precautions regarding COVID-19 potential exposure (masks, clean pen, cleaned my sprinter key, offered electronic report and bill).

Additionally, what I like most is they listened to the description of the issue I was experiencing, they documented it on the work order accurately as I had described it, and they documented the resolution on the work order so I could understand it. Great local place! The staff are super friendly and understanding, and they have a taxi car to pick you up and drop you off if you dont have a ride. Im a big fan of their online inspection summary and how responsive they are. They let us leave our van at their shop after the transmission blew out for about a week until we could get a charity to come get it, which I really appreciated. Their prices are very fair and they are straightforward with what work you do and dont need to have done.

These folks are awesome. I was running on a short deadline and they jump through hoops to accommodate everything. I will definitely recommend coming here for services and inspections. I definitely will be coming back!

Its only been a week or so and I continue to have issues with my car pulling to the side (left side now), though I was informed that there wasnt anything left to be done aside from replacing another tire.The service I received was prompt, and I was given several options before any repairs were made. I felt much more respected than I have in other shops, and though I would have liked to speak with the mechanic who worked on my car, everyone I did talk with was very pleasant.In short, Im not happy with where my car is at, but I am happy with the work that Spectra has done on it. I would recommend others to this business.

One word: Fantastic. I was told by another auto place that I needed to fix all three of my belts on my car, but I wanted a second opinion. I looked online for the best rated place in Frederick, Maryland, and they came up. I didnt realize how professional and honest they were though, until I got there. Not only did the receptionist walk me through a problem I had with something else, but they also told me I had NO problems with my belts. I walked out of there happy, and EXTREMELY proud of the service they gave me. So again, one word: Fantastic.

I called around 8:10 am to have my oil changed. They were busy but said it can be done if I can get there in 5. $26 for a change with my own oil and filter and a general inspection. Staff was friendly and it was a painless process. I received a txt informing me my car was ready for pickup and a link that directed me to a inspection report for my vehicle. Overall, a great experience for a task I usually like to do myself, but didnt have time.

Always a job well done at reasonable prices. The work is always on time and right on the estimate. Prices are much less than any dealer Ive ever been to. This is the type of shop that gives car shops a bad rep. Went there earlier this month for my MD state inspection and they told me my car needed $2600 of repairs. Before I pulled out the car I got something small fixed and what do you know or was 85% (I did the math) labor charges!!!Went and got a second opinion, 2 of the “damages” either required me to tighten a washer or completely fabricated. Those 2 were set to cost me $1200.Took it elsewhere and my price to repair critical failures was knocked down $1400 total, so they were trying to charge me double. These guys (Chris is who I dealt with) are crooks avoid at all costs!

They are a phenomenal company who got my sons car who is there at college right away for worried mother. They offered me options and choices professionally, but some also made me like a friend! I absolutely highly recommend them!!

I am very impressed with everything. Scheduling me short notice, very fair with pricing and honest. I basically said to the mechanic, I need rotors resurfaced, dont I? He responded, you dont need them, that is why I didnt recommend that; you just need pads They even sent a thank you note....Spectra knows what theyre doing and they know how to run a business.

For 25 years, we have been taking our cars to Spectra for all auto repairs. Even for simple jobs like oil change, I cannot trust any of the franchised shops to service my car. They are very honest in their estimates, and always recommends the best options for more difficult problems.

Every time I go to Spectra, I can leave knowing that everything that they said needed to be done, will be done correctly. Ive used Spectra going on roughly 25 years and havent had any problems. They have a great crew and I recommend them.

Avoid this place like the plague. Anytime you take your car in they charge you a $90 diagnostic fee, even if you are fully aware of what the problem is and only want that fixed. I believe they charge $100 or more an hour for labor which is not crazy in itself. They are however not as knowledgeable at doing repairs as they should be at this rate.I work on cars and have rebuilt motors before. I have a day job though and time does not permit me to always do the work myself. I put my trust in this shop 3 times and was let down 4 times. Initially there was a few problems I took my vehicle in for a main one being a coolant leak. Got the car back after having some other needed work done as well. About a month later I had to take it in again for a coolant leak issue, that was still not fixed.In both instances I did not price check the parts that they were getting for the vehicle because I had too much going on at the time to care.Third time, I had a cheap $60 electronic part go out on the vehicle that was causing a misfire. I knew what the problem was, told them what to do, still charged $90 for a diagnostic fee. Including the $90 I believe I was quoted like $400 for replacing the part. OEM from the factory for this part was $60 so I inquired as to what I was paying for as it was an easy job that could be done in an hour or hour and a half.I was told that the part was $200 which is a ~300% markup. After price checking my previous visits I can confirm that they markup all their parts to an unreasonable price. They also will not allow customer supplied parts. Which is fine if your not marking them up 300%. Why not mark them up 500%? Or 600%? I wouldnt stop at 300% when your ripping off your customers.I asked the guy giving me the quote, what the reason was for the markup and he said they would not make any money if he did not do this. I informed him that was ridiculous and offered to pay a 150% markup for the part or I would take my car elsewhere. He told me It was not his fought I drove an import. Still not sure how that is relevant seeing as the import mechanics their knew less about fixing the car than I did. I guess they feel its ok to markup import parts over domestic? Who knows. Paid my $90 diagnostic fee, took the car down the street and guys at a reputable shop took care of it for $130 (Part included).Fast forward 1 month, driving on a longer trip and I loose power steering, AC, and other utilities. Come to find out the mechanics when they did the last bit of coolant work forgot to bolt down a part they had taken off and it had slowly been shredding my serpentine belt.Also the factory spec for this vehicles lug nuts is 80ft lbs. They had these things well north of 100, I am extremely lucky I was able to get them off without stripping the heads.The only way I will be contacting this shop again is through my lawyer, depending on how much the damages are to the car this time.You have been warned, they come off as professionals, they are not.Update: This review is by no means fake, I have the paperwork to prove it and can provide it to google or anyone who wants to see it. Using an anonymous account has nothing to do with a review being fake or not. It just means I value my anonymity. For anyone wondering, the final damages I had repaired at a different local shop for $350. Probably not worth the time to pursue legally for damages.Update 2: You were not incredibly helpful in our last interaction. Also you took zero responsibility for previous bad work. Why would I expect that to change. Would you like to cover the cost of the most recent repairs or something? Otherwise I have nothing to discuss with you.

Very friendly staff. I had a check engine light that was on and needed fixed before emissions testing. They went over the multiple issues that were causing the check engine light and gave me a quote that was very accurate. Ive been here a couple times and would definitely return!

I had a marvelous experience at this shop. I was getting an inspection done on my vehicle and being as though it was the beginning of the month multiple places were already booked in advance. Another shop that I was going to was booked and referred me to them. I happened to be downtown when I placed the call just seeing if I could get in in a few days, just my luck the woman who answered the phone asked when would I like to bring it, jokingly I said now would be nice. She said how long would it take you to get here, I said 10 minutes, she said see you then. I was so grateful bc my tags were only good for 2 more days. It was not your average car shop, they went above and beyond my expectations. I also was introduced to some amazing Apple Cider from a Kureg . So awesome that today I went to find the brand a brought 2boxes of them. Spectra had many varieties of Kureg delights to drink and nice light conversation to keep me occupied for the hour wait. All and all the service was great, the atomosphere was great and I would highly recommend trying them out bc they will make you a lifetime customer. I know I will be. Thank you for the superb service.

Had to have the socket for my blinker replaced and they did it in a matter of minutes and did not charge me labor just for the part. I have always had a very pleasant experience when having my car serviced at Spectra.

Took my vehicle in for the state inspection and the gave me a list of stuff that needed fixed. I fixed all but the emergency brake. Less than a year later I find out that the lug nuts were on there so tight that one lug broke off and another lug nut was rounded off so you could not get it off. I called about it and they would not guarantee the work because it had been almost a year and other things could have happened. Took the vehicle to a different shop and when the got the tire off they found the the emergency break that was supposed to be fixed wasnt fixed properly. I will never take another vehicle to Spectra nor will I recommend them to anyone.

They replaced my radiator in our 1996 Honda Accord at a reasonable price on their promised time and estimate.

My husband and I have been going to Spectra for YEARS, and the things I like about them is we have NEVER had to bring our car back because it wasnt fixed right, they are honest and never try to sell us something we dont really need. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone.....and Im a picky person to please.
