This really is for the fish market section they have which is almost hidden. I went to this market a few times before i lol discovered the fish market. It is in a seperate room near the front corner. Good selection of live fish tanks. Also live frogs and turtles. Poor guys feel so bad for them.
If you want to cook Chinese style seafood this is a good place to go. They have been one of the longest business in China Town and their prices are competitive.
Typical Asian grocery store. This store is some what old. They also sell cooked food. The bake goods, got to get of the buns. They also have roast pork and BBQ duck.
I really liked this grocery. I had some time in my hands waiting for take out to finish cooking so I stopped by. The food was of high quality and was relatively easy to navigate. Wide aisles and not too many people.I this this will be my go to market for Asian ingredients and products.
Cashier have no manners. They can be very mean to customers by how they talk. This is Houston Texas not Communist China. Customers deserve some respect when they are spending their money in your store.
What a ripoff! Conniving women at the east end deli reserve choice dishes to their cronies at rock-bottom prices while lying to the non-Mandarin-speaking customers that those items are not for sale. These blatant acts of discrimination happen every evening at closing time. Is this even legal?
A nice Asian food market. It would be much better if the layout is not crowded and somewhat unclean.
Ample parking space but each of the parking space is very narrow causing your car doors being dinged inevitably - One star is being taken off.Grocery items in the store cost double than those in China Town grocery stores of Houston, TX - One more star is being taken off.
I bought two freeze crabs; no notice no sign shows that was on sale. After I open the crabs, they were strong smelly, and unfresh obviously. Well, I went back to the store to seek a return or replacement. However, the customer service said sale items are not returnable. Ok… Then she said, all on-sale items at Welcome are issue items. It was a nice point. Welcome please notice on-sale items are not returnable on your receipt. Also, DO NOT let customers pay for your improper storage of food or unsaleable food!
The food gets a 5☆ review, but the quality of the floors and cleanliness get the 4☆ rating. It has good produce at a fair price, a terrific assortment of sauces and condiments. We didnt shop for meat or seafood, so there is no opinion about their availability or quality.
I was buy soy mike here for my daughter almost everyweek. Today was a bad experience ever. The price is 5.99$ for pack if you buy a box is 26.99$ and i took the whole box so it 26.99$ when i go to pay the cashier was so rude and unprofessional she doesn’t know thePrice and she opened the box to get the price I told her to go check it different price if she do it separate. She doesn’t listen to me she asked her friends another cashier lady that also don’t speak English also they all look at me like if i did something wrong. And start to talk in another laughing. I explained to them and they won’t listen I just pay and take the pictures of the price to customers service and they pay me back. They apologized for mistakes. But you know the important things to be working is respect and customer service. The way they treat the customers is very rude hopefully they has a conversation about this with they employees to be better place to shopping and also pay attention on how the employees make people feel it is uncomfortable and unacceptable
Awesome place, great Chinese food items. They even have good food to-go
I have to say that Welcomes renovation a year or so ago has improved its appearance and cleanliness.I like seeing a security officer when I enter. When I make Chinese jerky, I always go to the meat counter as they say their meat, like pork, is local.Welcome is a true Chinese grocery store. I find things here that will not be at the Korean HMart or at California-based Ranch 99. The staff may be mainly Chinese-speaking, but to me it gives an authentic vibe. Yes, you have to make sure things arent expired and certain areas may smell, but that adds to the cultural experience. Its so easy to swing by the deli area and scoop out of the pot of soaking tea eggs just one for a quick snack. My very, very favorite prepared food item is the leaf-wrapped, string tied guongdong rice tamale. It has at least half a dozen delicious, savory ingredients that have been boiled in rice for hours! I remember devouring similar homemade doong that my mother used to make in my childhood. There are other doong there, but this one is flavorful and filling. The last one I bought was still warm, so I sat in my car and straightaway devoured it!!!
Amazing Asian food market!!! Super impressive!! Lots to look at...only draw back is very limited English dubbing
The store had undergone some renovations before its recent 16th year anniversary celebration. Much cleaner than before. The aisles seem to appear wider even though the number of shelves remain the same. The BBQ Center is at the West end of the store. The Meat Department is at the back. In the middle of the store, next to the Produce Department, is the newly renovated Hot Food Counter/Center which is under a new management. The Seafood Department is in its own room next to the Hot Food. Beyond the Seafood is the another room -- Household Products Department -- kitchenware, dinnerware, and other knick-knacks. Years ago, this room used to be a bakery department and it seems they are still baking behind the door of this room.
Its a great place to shopping chinese food. But just wish the vegetables are more fresh
The shopping center has gotten a facelift. This grocery store needs a desperate upgrade inside though.Pretty good selection of items. If you need ice, you fill bags yourself by the meat counter.
Food was fresh, the market was clean.
Been going here since a kid and always has a good selection of candy and snacks of all kind. Good selection of ramen, but for all the rest like meats I dunno
Updated exterior. Lots of Asian food and groceries
Upgraded an extra star since they are practicing sage CDC guidelines! Its hard to communicate with employees and cashiers but still worth the trip for a couple of plate lunches to go! $5.99 for the one with eggplant and $6.99 for the bbq pork and roast duck. Both come with rice and the prices stay the same until sold out daily
Have fresh sea food! Also they sell food plates, everything behind glass and very clean! Choice of 2 meats and 1 vegetable or 1 meat and 2 vegetables over rice! Food is like just cooked. Love their food!
Huge selection of Asian food, and produce. Even have a live market. Prices vary depending on season and market, but prices are overall reasonable. Lots of great buys.
I buy goodies here 10 yrs ago👍 allways clean and fresh veggies👍
Reasonable prices, lots of variety. Not the newest but you can get what you need.
Great little Asian supermarkets for getting a wide variety of vegetables not usually available elsewhere. They prepared food section is also really good especially the noodles. The aisles are a little bit cramped so maintaining social distancing is difficult.
Fresh food and best price in town
Dirty store. Smelled bad. Cashier worried about a $3 back scratcher that was purchased at another store. Thought we was stealing it from there, although we made a large purchase.
Nice place for Asian groceries. Food stand is Good too
A comfortable, though not elegant, Asian supermarket with a wide selection and realistic prices. The mall exterior is being renovated and upgraded.
Basic local chinese grocery store, they jus need to keep the place more clean
Get ready for unhappy people no Smiles dirty bathrooms good quality Asian food. If youre in the mood to purchase some Chinese Asian food products or other Asian Essentials this is a great place to go, I would not recommend using the bathroom first as it will probably be covered with toilet paper that has been used and overflowing trash can, this is a tradition overseas where the plumbing is not the same so Im not surprised by it but just remember if you decide to use the restroom thats what youll be surrounded with. Prices are quite reasonable but none of the employees have any emotion. In fact theyre not even mad or mean looking theyre just plain an expressionless. All in all if youre looking for good prices this is great place feel looking for a good experience go down the road
Welcome is a good store, a bit rundown but great selection, nice staff, and good prices so I dont care if its a little ragged inside. But no wipes for the carts, no hand sanitizer, no apparent concern at all for tbe health of their customers. Come on, guys. This is 2020. Take some care with our health!! You are putting people at unacceptable risk.
I buy my guinea pigs favorite food from here.. mint and dill
Exterior top notch. Interior could use some cleaning.
It’s difficult to rate because He generally does he live animals offered for sale or half police officers at the entrance I certainly wouldn’t buy meat or fish
Havent been there for years. It seems like their prices have gone up a lot, even higher than 99 Ranch in Suhar Land now.
Good food and products but an unholy restroom
If you are into fresh seafood, this is the best place to check around chinatown.
Smells like a traditional Asian supermarket, you know what I mean, but good variety and good price.
Good place for shopping and Asian food
Their Cashier even manager were unfriendly.Im a 73 yrs old woman had worked with Kroger as a cashier for 10 years. I am Chinese but Im from Taiwan Hah Hah been treated with this services in my people unfortunately that girl is from mainland Chinese the comunisam educated several their people I become so [ ] ``°π°`` henh Have you guys take any service training classes? Then crose Hwy6 go ask HEB supermkt if they got the classes available ?
Dirty, small bad ...avoid dis place..
Cheaper products and lots of different kinds of vegetables
Love it the bomb
Awesome variety, friendly people
Great price on fish and frozen foods
Pan Fried Bun is one of my favorite breakfast in China town!
Good experience with the prepared food sections, the Single Cantonese dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves were very, very good, the 2 pack was not as good. Roast Duck was good, we ate it all, but not as flavorful as normal. Recommend the Roast pork, tender with crispy skin, sells out quick. Hungry for a quick meal Welcome is an excellent choice. Good selection grocery shopping also.
Newly renovated smaller supermarket, catering more to the Asian community. Good selection of foods
We love their seafood department! Fresh fish, live frogs, and we often pick up a cooked duck from the deli. Since I love to eat a lot of Asian inspired foods, my husband and I love to pop in here after we have had a great meal in the area.
Much improved after a remodel. This is an Asian grocery!...(the tip suggested I tell people what I ordered). I feel like a foreigner as there is little engagement with customers like me. I dont speak Chinese. Great selections of products.
I love to go to this Asia market. They have all different kinds of Asian product and they have two fast food restaurants order to go. They also have Asia BBQ style like roast pork, chicken, pork ribs, and especially roast duck. I enjoyed going here to get my lunch and dinner to go.
5 stars because it doesnt smell bad
Clean. Everyone still wearing facemasks.
Its ok
The lady from customer services was rude, I asked her what is the different from this food and the other one she say read on the back hello nobody want to help. if you dont like your job quit. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES
I did not like it, the place was not clean, the smell was terrible, not organized, not fresh products, higher prices, I do not recommend it
I have purchased many veggies from this market. However, I became suspicious lately about the freshness of the products. The products remained fresh for more than a month without refrigerate. They might have had over used the preservatives to preserve these veggies. Please be ware and stayed away from Welcome market. I wrote this review because ethics and safety of the consumers of Welcome grocery are my main concern in this case.
The prices for vegetables, meat and seafood are reasonable, but their non food items such as pots, pans, chinas and other household items are substantially higher their competitors like 10-20% higher.
Good deli food. Fresh and wide variety of produce.
Price went up after covid breakout. The store sells canned/packaged food with no expiration date on it. sometimes cover up the expiration date with their own labels. In Deli department cooked food left open to the air, let flies, mosquitoes fly around the food.Restroom stinks every time i use it.Bought spoiled cooked noodle once and never buy it again.
Great varieties of taking home food.
Everything is well organized. All employees were wearing mask for the safety of the customer as well as fast and orderly checkout.👍
Good selection of produce Seafood fresh beef chicken and porkeven also a supply of mask that you can buy for covid-19 in front of the cash register and check area next to the office
Very nice after remodeling the while shopping center.
THE CERTAINLY PICKED THE RIGHT NAME. I LOVE THIS STORE, THEY HAVE A GREAT PRODUCE DEPARTMENT. I AM ALWASY GUARANTEED TO BUY A FRUIT OR VEGETABLE THAT IVE NEVER HAD. THE PRICES ARE GOOD AND THE SELECTION OUTSTANDING.
Very messy grocery store and dirty! Dont go.
I can give me a huge box of food for $4
Typical asian supermarket down on Bellaire
I havent been here since high school and it hasnt really changed much. Everything is still easy to find and the clerk that checked us out was super nice. Fish and meat market still stinks but not much else you can do about it.
Great place to grab ingredients for any Asian-inspired dish you want to recreate at home. Fish market smells really bad. The store has changed a lot over the years. Cool housewares section. Everything is kind of cramped over there though.
Delicious, inexpensive hot food bar and bakery. The staff is friendly and helpful. Try the tea eggs! 50¢ and so yummy!
Good hot meals.
I bought a whole bunch of candy here with some bread and fruits as well, small amazing store that has everything in it. Its really great!
Humongous selection. Everything asian that you could possibly need. Some places might have better prices, but may not have quite the same inventory. If youre in Chinatown, maybe stop in for a unique experience.
Dont buy seafood there, unless youre a lady, they dont have the number tickets machine, women always get service first even theres a gentleman before her, the worst individual is the youngest also the shortest Hispanic guy with a roll back eye balls, he hardly does anything, just waiting for an opportunity to serve woman customer . However, people in the meat department are very friendly and helpful, particular a slim Chinese gentleman .
Great store for hard to find foods and ingredients. Good seafood selection. Cheap meat good snack choices.
I’ve been going to this grocery store for over 10 years now and it’s still a good place to get basically all the things I need for Chinese foods. Produce is fresh majority of the time and prices are reasonable. After the renovations, the place has been looking much better!
Great Job 👌
I live close by so its easy to get what I need, but at times the place can be very ancient looking, its staff arent the nicest but its understandable since they work countless hours just bagging. Great to go to if you wanna get some Asian snacks or really good friend rice and noodles on both sides of the store.
Had a good variety of snacks that I had never seen before. The service was great, even the stockers were really nice.
The cashiers are rude. My husband gets diarrhea almost every time we bought their cooked food.
Love it, enjoyed shopping.
Been coming here for years, It used to be the cheapest grocery store in Bellaire. After the renovation, the prices have gone up. I think it is under new ownership. Their bathroom could use more cleaning maintenance. Their roasted pork used to be really good, now it taste burn.
New management did a re-model but raised prices. Lost maybe 40% of business, judging by volume & fewer cars. Most of staff left for another place down the road, Great Wall. Mgmt very unfriendly, unwilling to help, even when sought out.
Outdated, dirty and messy. Not a lot of selections.... won’t be going back.
This is the place to go if you want asian products to stock your pantry. The aisles are narrow and stacked 10 high so just dive in and find your bargains. Happy shopping!
This is now a secondary store for Justgo and offer other cooked products. Glad they have improved and cleaned up the place.
The Best Supermarket of China Town. I always buy my lunch and dinner over that place. The cashiers and workers were very very nice to all customers!!!!!!!!!!!! If you visit Houston China Town, U MUST come visit the greatest supermarket in Houston, Texas. Thank You, and U r very WELCOME (ha...ha...ha... i try to said that Welcome Food Center at 9180 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, TX 77036 U.S.A. ^3^
