These people charged me $100 to call me and tell me that something is definitely wrong with the transmission but that it would cost $1300 more to pull the transmission before they could determine exactly what was wrong. Not sure what the $100 was even for... they kept it for a week to basically tell me what I already knew -_- and they said something was wrong with the motor but they dont work on motors. Wth? So now, Im out $100 and back where I started. What a rip off.
Super honest owner! Appreciate the honesty and transparency!
The guys at Mr. Transmission did an excellent job doing a once over on my 16 year old’s car! They checked every facet of the vehicle and repaired anything that needed to be fixed. Thanks to these guys, her birthday was a success! Thanks again for keeping my girl safe on the road!
Brought in my son’s 1997 Chevy Truck to replace the transmission. The code reader at AutoZone flashed all transmission solenoid problems. Fully expected to spend big dollars on a transmission rebuild. The guys at Mr. Transmission found that the ignition switch was failing and caused all the problems. They replaced the ignition switch and saved me a bunch of money. Thank you so much!! Excellent service and only fixed what needed to be fixed!! Would recommend!! They are my go to repair shop that I can trust!!
Will discuss privately
Excellent work and no extra charges vs quoted price prior to the work being started
Very affordable and nice people
The axle broke on my car. I thought it was my transmission. Had my car towed to Mr. Transmission. They had my car fixed in a few hours. The pricing was very affordable.
I recently needed some work done on my car and Mr. Transmission came highly recommended. They were fast at taking a look at my car and telling me what repairs were needed. The work was completed very quickly. I would use again am highly recommend.
Honest shop, knowledgeable technicians, fast service, competitive prices.
This review is not from Dennis but from his wife.....WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. Do not waste your time and money on their services. Find another place. We had gone to get our sons car and bring it here because we had a bad experience with the place he had previously taken it where he goes to school. We picked up our sons car from Mr. Transmission when the repair was completed. My husband made it only a few miles down the road before it overheated. He had to wait for the car to cool down twice before making it back to Mr. Transmission. Limping the car back, he called them and explained what was happening and was told he needed to get it back to them by 5 because they close on the dot. Really? Your customer just left and is broke down on the rush hour Parkway and all you can say is that you close at 5! Nice! Finally, after a week and the problems were fixed, all I wanted to do is pick up our sons car so he could drive it back to college -- he was visiting us on Spring Break -- and they would not wait 10 minutes past 5 oclock for me to get there. Now we have to drive the car back to our son in another state because of an unwillingness to help a customer and stay 10 - 15 minutes past 5. Also, we had to pay more money for them to fix what they should have checked out in the first place. I would like to comment on the unwillingness to talk to me, the wife, as I was told they had dealt with my husband and werent interested in speaking with me especially if I was refusing to pay. I wasnt refusing to pay, I was simply questioning the 2nd bill. I also want to comment on the cash only policy they have. They will not take debit or credit cards unless the customer pays the transaction fee. They will not take checks. They only deal in cash or a cashiers check. This is extremely shady folks! I will end my review by saying I did become very frustrated with the owner (I guess thats who I was talking to on the phone) and he hung up on me. Again, REALLY? All I can say, if you read this, is consider taking your business to someone else as we found our experience to be most unfriendly and not customer service oriented at all. I only wish I didnt have to select a star in the heading in order to post this review.
Adam was extremely professional, courteous, and honest. He showed me the inside of my bad transmission where a previous company, who recently charged me $1900 for a rebuild, had actually made obsolete modifications insuring a bandaid fix instead of a repair. I had no other choice but to get my truck repaired again. When I picked my truck up from Adam, I was thrilled to determine the trucks acceleration was very responsive and the gear shifting was smooth. My truck never performed better. Thank you, Adam!
Customer service Excellence!!!! Mr. Transmission Huntsville won the Customer Service Excellence award 2013-2016!! Lets keep Huntsville running strong! A++ with the Better Business Bureau for 28+ years.
If you are having transmission issues or in need of a transmission, I do not recommend this location. The lady that works in customer service is great but the auto mechanics are sub-par. Unfortunately, I would recommend the dealer with dealer pricing before I suggest this location. Additionally, if youre trying to get preventative maintenance for your vehicles transmission, this companys location will not help you.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MR TRANSMISSION TO ANYONE THAT WORKS FOR THEIR HARD EARNED DOLLAR. THE HEAVY SET GUY AT THE DESK WILL TELL YOU THE SAME SALES PITCH EVERYTIME, IT WILL COST A FEW HUNDRED TO FIND THE PROBLEM THEN, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU TO FIX IT. I ADVISE ANYONE TO GO TO A SHOP THAT WILL FIND YOUR PROBLEM FOR NO CHARGE THEN TELL YOU HOW MUCH IT WILL BE TO FIX IT.
Worst experience with customer service. Couldnt talk to me as an adult. Charging extra for hydraulic fluid when it should be included already. Couldnt test vehicle before paying. Acting like he (Jeff) was the owner.
I HAD MY TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1500. IT HAS NOT BEEN RIGHT SINCE IT WAS FIXED. I HAVE HAD IT BACK AT LEAST 6 TIMES NOW AND IT IS STILL NOT RIGHT. I DONT THINK IT IS ASKING TOO MUCH TO HAVE SOMETHING REPAIRED CORRECTLY. I HAVE HAD A HARD TIME SPEAKING TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND WHEN I DO THEY MAKE YOU FEEL AS IF YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG. BEWARE OF THE POOR TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS. THERE ARE OTHER TRANSMISSION SHOPS IN HUNTSVILLE TO CONSIDER.
My transmission was slipping once a week to once every other week. They called and said it needed to be rebuilt (would cost more than the cars worth). After I picked it up it slipped three times on the drive home. Either they were careless and accidentally made it worse, or theyre trying to get business by creating problems.
Had my transmission rebuilt, and within 25k miles, the main seal blew out. Charged me another $1500 to put it back in. Total ripoff. Replacing the transmission next time.
Dropped my car off at 10 am said it would be 2-3 hours since they were supposedly short a mechanic came back 4 hours later and found out I would have to come back because their hard working mechanic just went on break. All I needed was to get the fluid level checked. Save yourself some time and frustration by driving a few hundred feet up the road to Professional Transmission Services and ask for Marty. Never again.
UPDATED 9/3/15 - see belowOriginal: HORRIBLE ! DO NOT go there. they misdiagnosed my car, said they needed to rebuild the transmission. They passed on the 2% credit card fee to me and charged me $3790. Within 23 miles the whole transmission failed. They towed my car then held it for days. I called daily to find out what was being done. Then they said the car computer was bad and that was not covered under the transmission warranty. They gave me the option to go to the dealer who would charge me $1000 or they could try to find a used one. They never called me back after I asked them to see if they could find a used one. I found another shop that actually specialized in computers to do the repair and then Jeff at Mr. transmission said I would void my warranty if I took my car without buying the computer from them for $250 and letting them install. YET the computer is not under their warranty???? Blackmail. I have filed a BBB complaint and might have to sue them to recover $4000.(UPDATE: The BBB did nothing. As they are funded by the businesses they dont care about your experience unless it is clearly a illegal scam ( like a letter from Nigeria.) They were unable to resolve the issue (they did not try) and allowed Ms Bingham to email me crazy, ranting hateful emails. That was it. I highly suggest your write a review instead. The BBB hides complaints so it is a waste of time.)WELL it actually GETS WORSE... on Friday the owner a Ms Bingham called me insulted me and threatened me. She said she would raise the price of my reluctantly agreed to car computer purchase if I did not remove my review. I called the police and they said that that violate my 1st Amendment civil rights. She made good on the threat and not only raised the cost from $250 to $549 and demanded I only pay in cash. No explanation for the increase in cost or the refusal to accept my credit card which is good and they were happy to take a week ago $3790 passing the credit car transaction fee on to me to boot. When I asked the manger why the change is he said because it is you. The police informed me that this is discrimination and is a violation of my civil rights. The police have advised me to file a civil suit against them for the prejudice. IF I could give them LESS than 1 star I would. They are petty, unethical, and mean people. They do not deserve to prosper off anyone this way. I hope no one ever has to go though this ordeal. They have had my car SO long most recently 8 out of the last 10 days, that I am now at the mandatory fluid check required to keep my warranty. How convenient that they HAVE my car. BAD PEOPLE.RESOLUTION 9/3/15: I had to send my brother-in-law down there to talk to them because they had treated me so badly. He was able to talk a new man who also said he was the owner(how many do they have?) This guy was reasonable. BUT he said they would put in a new computer if I removed my review. Since everything I have written really happened and I was without a working car for 4 weeks and out over $3,700 I agreed to AMEND my review with the resolution. I will not hide my experience. They ended up putting in a transmission controller module (NOT a whole computer). I would think that any part that is integral to the transmission would be part of what they do/cover when they rebuilt an entire transmission. Also, I have to wonder if the only problem I had was this module and the rest was a waste of my money and time. This module is available on Ebay for a mere $49. THE ONLY reason this business gets one star instead of no stars from me is that since they made this simple repair the car has been working now for two weeks. SO AFTER much suffering, inconvenience, loss of wages, and 4 weeks of walking and hitching rides and borrowing cars, I FINALLY have a working car. The mysterious male owner that agreed to put the module in and actually get my car running actually called my brother-in-law yesterday (9/3/15) and asked if the car was running (good, nice) BUT asked him to tell me to take down my review. UNBELIEVABLE
On Saturday, 24 August2013 my 2003 Acura MDX started to have issues going in and out of gear. I had the car towed to Mr. Transmission on that same day (24 August) and spoke with Adam who informed be that they would inspect it and let me know if they found any issues. After finding no internal issues Adam informed me that they would have to remove the transmission and inspect the internal components. Adam stated that the total labor to rebuild the transmission would be $925.00, which included removal, inspection, rebuilding and reinstalling. I then asked Adam how much would the parts be, and if I was looking at more than $500.00 for parts. Adam stated that the parts may not be exactly $500 but they shouldn’t be much more than that. With the parts and labor that would bring my total to ~1500.00 with a 1 year warranty.Adam called back on 27 August and informed me that after inspecting the transmission that I would have to replace the valve body, a few bearings, a shaft, drum, and the converter. He stated the valve body was mangled beyond repair and transmission shaft was broken and they both would have to be replaced. He stated that all of this comes with the rebuild kit for ~$500 with exception on the valve body. So I then asked how much would the valve body be and he stated ~$1000.00. After receiving the news I asked Adam for the total price now that we have to replace the valve body and he quoted 3,804.83 which is more than the price would be if I added up all the values given ( Labor $925.00, Rebuild Kit ~$500.00, and Valve body ~$1,000.00= ~$2425.00 plus tax). From there I asked how I incurred the additional cost, he then proceeded to naming everything that was already included in the rebuild kit for $500 which I did not understand. So I notified Adam that I would shop around for a used transmission and could they install it, he said yes. I found used transmissions for ~$1200.00 and REBUILT (same thing they would be doing) transmissions for ~$1500.00. After speaking with Adam and prices not lining up I then called Jerry Damson Acura (Local Dealership) inquire on the price of a new Acura transmission valve body, and I also checked internet prices to see if I could get the valve body cheaper somewhere else. Internet prices for a new valve body were ~$300.00 and the DEALERSHIP valve body was only $500.00. The dealership parts were $500.00 less than what Mr. Transmission was trying to charge me for the part.I then told Adam I would prefer to have dealership parts which are always better than aftermarket parts and he refused to do so. During this time my wife and I decided to just trade the car in. The dealership that we were dealing with did not want the car reassembled and were going to send a tow truck to Mr. Transmission to pick the car up and not have him do anything else to it. Adam refused to let the vehicle leave without putting it back together to receive the full $925.00. I told Adam I would pay him a percentage (~$500.00) for his services since Mr. Transmission did remove the transmission but they did NOT rebuild it or reinstall it. Adam refused and said he would not let the car leave without full payment for HALF of the service. After stating this I asked to see the bad parts. I then proceeded to inspecting the so called mangled valve body and broken shaft. Neither the valve body nor the shaft had a single scratch on them, they actual looked almost new. I then asked to speak to a manager or district manager and he refused this additional request.
