Been here along time ago and was happy with the purchase and techs. Today I came in as a walk in, was told it will be 2 hrs before my car will be serviced, ok was fine with that, now an hour later I get a text about my vehicle and another hour later still no one is doing anything to my vehicle. Btw all I needed was a tire patch-plug. 930am came in it is now 2pm still waiting!

My sons car had the engine light on. The tech checked it and the lady at check in asked me to follow her to the service area. The tech explained the problem on the diagnostic machine and told me what meds to be done. I understood and approved the repairs. I trust Pep Boys more than n all other repair chains. I love that I get a military discount and coupons in the mail that saved me thousands over the years.
I can say Marcille is Awesome. He kept me in the loop all the way. He is a man of his word and I feel confident that my car is at this Pep Boys.

Lady at the front desk told me I needed a whole new tire after a tiny nail got stuck in the tread. The nail came out after driving a mile. My tire was completely fine.

I made an appointment online on 7/27/2021 as I always do when I go to that location. My son took in my truck for my oil change appointment at 3:30PM and was told they do not take appointments. They also stated they can get me in 3 to 4 hours later in the day. Big inconvenience. My son workers overnight and broke his sleep to make sure truck was serviced. Then I get an email today saying thanks for letting us know you couldnt make your appointment and asking to reschedule. No thank you.
Never have I ever experienced such poor service! I brought my car in for a scheduled appointment today at 3:30 pm for a nail in my tire. I assumed incorrectly that it would be covered by my road hazard insurance. This is what I was told by the person who checked me in. I was told an hour to an hour and a half wait for my vehicle and I left. I called 2 hours later to check the status of my car and was told that I needed to come right away as they were closing at 6 pm. This was at 5:30 pm. Their posted google hours said 9 pm. No one told me when I dropped off the car that they would be closing early. If I hadn’t have called, there was no way I would have known and they would have kept my car overnight! When I arrived I was told that they hadn’t worked on my car at all, and that I would need a new tire. I was told that due to sidewall damage my road hazard insurance didn’t cover anything. When i questioned this, Tammy ( the front desk girl) replied very rudely that I must’ve had this tire plugged before. The only place that had worked on my tire was this Pepboys and they had no record of it!This isn’t my first bad experience, most recently I brought my car in for an evaluation -and was not told of the price of the car evaluation. I was recommended a very expensive catalytic converter replacement. I opted out and took my car to another shop and it was a $200 repair and no catalytic converter code was even read! Very shady and unprofessional business practices that could cost you $XXXX in unnecessary repairs! Do not come here! Go to any other location other than this one. I will be going to another location and following up with corporate.
I went to this place to purchase a car part but I was notified they dont sell part any more. But they repair & does vehicle maintenance, alignment and wheel balancing, oil change and more. For a customer that was booked for their services, there is a customer lounge available for seat and relax. Custom service was good.
Terrible service! This store tried to rip my son off told him 40.00 to check his car checked it called him and said now he needs to pay 150.00 to check his thermostat. My husband got involved and asked what does the 150.00 cover and if the thermostat wasn’t the problem ( it was new btw) would we be charged again for everything they check. Lady on the phone was rude and very condescending so my husband asked to speak to a tech she wouldn’t allow it he them asked for a manager; manager finally gets on the phone and tells my husband a whole bunch nothing! Long story short we get a call from Pepboys in Calumet City Illinois on Torrence “We aren’t charging you anything come get your car you ask to many questions” get to our sons car and these crooks emptied all of the antifreeze out of the vehicle!!! Please don’t go to this Pepboys in Calumet City Illinois Try the one in Homewood or any other place but please, please don’t go here!

Dont waste your money buying tires here. They dont honor the road hazard warranty. Tech pulled my speed sensor out and had it rubbing against my tire. Called back and was blown off. Asked for the D.M number and was given a bogus number. Called the 1 800 number to report the issue and never received a follow up. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING TIRES HERE.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Went there for a simple wheel alignment and got my vehicle back with other issues caused by them and they refused to reimburse me. The back and forth was ridiculous. NEVER EVER taking my vehicle to a pep Boys again.
Torrey the service manager was very helpful and courteous. He was knowledgeable and explained the problem and work being done to my car. He gave me a time and actually my car was completed before the time he gave me. I am not knowledgeable about cars so I appreciate the time taken to tell me rather than just car lingo. The prices were decent and I will return for any of my car needs.

Dropped off a flat last Thursday and told them I would return on Monday at 9 a.m. to have them mount it: informed on Monday at 9 a.m. I DID NOT HAVE AN APPIONTMENT??-AND I SHOULD TAKE CAR ELSEWHERE! HAD TO MOUNT TIRE IN PARKING LOT MYSELF!

Pierre was the literal best to deal with. He was patience, communicative, and helped me through the stress of multiple repairs. Car issues work my nerves but he made the painful process of car repair smooth and easy.

Very unprofessional staff. I came in two days ago only requested service was an oil change they told me they could no longer take walkins at 6pm (Caradvise) which they closed at 7pm. Then I call myself coming at 5pm yesterday to beat the cut off time. They had me waiting kept saying they were going to be right with me kept walking past stalling time. 6pm came around they still havent took my information or nothing Im still waiting they said theyll be right with me lets just say after 630pm they never got back with me so I decided to leave. I went to this morning Firestone they was on point very prompt. Kept checking in with me and my car is good and serviced. I wont visit pep boys again.
Unclear, dishonest pricing. Pitched on a $50/ for first 10 mile tow, never received the bill credit. What is quoted over phone does not match the bill at checkout. You are told that ONLY certain, more expensive, parts are available. Even though a call to another local shop had parts at 100s lower. If you say you cant afford it they take off 10% but still fundamentally overcharge you in labor costs. $700 for a new alternator and I didnt even get a warranty. Shop around first and compare prices before authorizing the repair. Then check your bill before you leave the store.

Took my car in for a wheel alignment first thing in the morning after my mechanic did my suspension on my truck. The entire staff was very helpful and nice. The price for the service was good. Local shops were charging me a lot more. The service was fast and before I knew it they were done.
I had a 2pm appointment and was told they would have to fit me in. I called at 4:15 to check on my car and it was still on the lot. I didnt get me car back until 5:30 and thats only because I called. Why bother making an appointment. I do not recommend. I only gave it 1 star because I had to give something to post my review.
Super slow service. Got to the store at 8AM I was checked in rudely. After siting waiting for a hour no one came into the waiting area to say anything to the customers. You get what you pay for should have went to Firestone next door. Super slow no good customer service. Maybe the employees need a refresher training on customer relations. If I could give zero stars I would.
I made an appointment for 1pm to get 4 new tires put on I came in at 12:30 they started early, which was great. But I didn’t get done till 2:30 it took them 2 hours to change 4 tires and all he can say was I’m sorry were busy today horrible experience

I was driving through town when I started having brake issues on Memorial Day weekend. When I called, they fit my inspection and repairs in that day, and I was back on the road in a couple of hours. The staff were professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. Should you have an issue and be from out of town, I highly recommend their service department.
Tells me 1 hour wheel alignment but 4 hours later, alignment not done because caster was never set initially due to bolts being seized. Lied and said toe and caster was set, to only find my car not touched once I get back in it.
WARNING!!!! Make sure you thoroughly read and have explained to you the tire warranty. I was told by the manager the warranty covered repair and replacement for the life of the tires. Upon visiting the store because of a nail in my tire in the sidewall, I was then told the warranty does not cover replacement, but a prorated amount of the cost of the tire. Pep Boys has lost my business. Very shady outfit.

Counter staff was very friendly and helpful. Whoever replaced my tire has no concern about good customer service. My tire was under inflated and they did not even bother to put my spare back in the proper place. They just threw it in the trunk. They didnt even put the lug nut caps back on.
I ordered tires online my 89 year old mother went to pick them up and was upsold $300 more than the recommended tire given online. The rep told her the tires didnt fit the car and ultimately sold her a more expensive tire. Elders beware!!!

Buyers beware!!! Went in to purchase tires and the transaction went smooth. they did their inspection, and they failed to notice numerous issues with my vehicle. They then proceeded to install the new tires on a bent rim without notifying me.Months pass, and I bring the vehicle in for routine tire maintenance (Rotate and Balance). They proceed to rotate and balance the tires with the bent rim, during that visit I observed them almost drive a customers vehicle off the raised alignment lift, and not notify him as he was sitting waiting. I had to go to a different Pep Boys in my area after noticing extreme vibration coming from the vehicle. They rebalanced all 4 tires and found that they all were out of balance and noticed the bent rim.I contacted Pep Boys 800 number, and the store manager was contacted. He asked me to bring in my vehicle for his inspection. I brought the vehicle in and he drove it and said it was ok, but 2 tires were bad with less than 10K miles on 80K tires. He offered me only roadside on all the tires to reassure me they were acceptable.Bring the vehicle in for a slow leak in one of the tires (8K later), and am told there is no roadside and will have to pay for repair, after the service manager claimed to be giving me that.This is not the only time I have had to have their work redone. They have failed to properly tighten bolts on shock installations, failed to properly bleed air out of heater core after a coolant service, and have intentionally left things off estimates just to add them in once vehicle is apart.Beware!!! This is your life they have in your hands, and they dont care. They will send you on the road with unsafe repairs that they have performed.
I came for an oil change, air filter replacement, and change my wiper blades. They said it would be about two hours but within an hour I seen them lift my car up and do the work yet Im waiting over two hours. Why did I wait longer when my car was already done? Not very satisfied with that.

I bought a used 2004 dodge caravan at a car dealer on 7.6.2020. The dealer had to jump start it (weak battery). I test drove it, it was ok. When I got home, it would not restart. I called Pep boys and had the van towed to their shop on 7.9.2020. I called and they said they received it and they told me that I did not have to come in, they would look at. I came in on 7. 11.2020 at 0800 to see what was the problem with it. They seemed to have lost my key to the van. They spent a hour and half to find my key. I waited 6 hours before they looked at my van. They told me the reason for the no start was that I needed a new steering wheel or column ????. They told me they need more time to fix it. Here it is now 7.17.2020 and I call Pep Boys and they told me that the mechanic thats working on my has the day off. How long will it take to fix my Van.
As a Lyft driver its imperative that my tires are always in proper running condition. Recently I have experienced tire problems that was taken care of promptly and I was back safely on the road. Big smile

Terrible customer service the guy at the front desk with the giant beard had no respect for the customers talk to my girlfriend any type away and got upset that I confronted him about him raising his voice At my girlfriend dont go to this place one theyre ripping you off price tags because they will say O it cause this much to do to work and then they could do to work twice as fast but Ill still charge you for the same amama time emerges be as for additional minutes toward the reason why they charge you for liking daddy here like I had tile work on my car it would have only taken 30 minutes they ended up taking AI went 20 minutes into my car and I can see the guy just chilling for a good 20 to 30 minutes that is unacceptable dont come here at all
In the waiting room, there was coffee but no cups. I reported this to the service desk, but it seemed to me that there was no concern about me wanting a cup of coffee. After waiting some time, I found another worker in the store who supplied cups and I finally got some coffee. Also, mens restroom needs attention.
They broke my car and are acting like it isnt their fault. Changed a 5amp fuse and now it wont start. I have to pay for my own tow now thanks to the inexperienced staff. If you are not a full service shop, why are you tinkering with repairs you cant handle if something goes wrong? Ill NEVER come back. Only reason i came was because of the warranty company im under...

They installed 2 brake lamp bulbs within an hour on my Mercedes ML350. I was just a walk in, no appointment and I had a car ahead of me. They told me an hour or less and it was almost exactly an hour. Did I forget to mention that it was less than $20. So well worth it. I will visit again for similiar needs.
Oil change was faster than any other place Ive been to.
Our car broke down on the way to Milwaukee so we pulled in here, left the car and caught a cab to Chicago. We hoped they would have it fixed so we could drive it home a few days later. It has a faulty ignition, and we knew that but pressed our luck. We left the keys and a note stating the issue. They called us the next day and said nothing was wrong. We came and picked it up a day later, we werent charged for the diagnostics because they didnt think anything was wrong with it. We got on 65s toward Indy and it immediately went into limp mode. CEL was on when we picked it and it was misfiring when we got it. The staff there is super nice and it was nice not being charged $100 for a diagnostic. However, I wouldnt recommend ever taking my car anywhere where a mechanic couldnt recognize a misfire.
This is by far the WORST PepBoys I’ve EVER been to. The service is SLOW, they will have you waiting for hours before they even start the service on your car.Basically 3hours for a oil change and two rear tires .
I bring both cars here whenever they need service or repairs. The service has always been great and the final charges are at the estimated price or lower. They are trustworthy and I am very happy with them.
Scam & lies ! Their wheels slide in the rain and snow (paid over $600). They offer warranty and lie about what is coverage. They do NOT discuss warranty over phone and made me drive all the way to the shop, just so they can tell me my tires have no real warranty. NEVER again.
They tried to scam me today!1. I had an Appointment at 9:00am for a simple oil change, my fault for getting there at 9:20 but still a 2 hour wait??2. Waited 2 hours for them to say “oh who did ur oil change last because ur Drain plug is stripped, we can’t get it out sooooooooo......replace the whole oil pan + labor idk....$832?!!!3. That’s $200 more than any one else to change the pan and I went to another place who strictly does oil changes and they changed my oil and replaced the plug, the condition of my pan was good like 8/10 good according to the guy. And charge me $5 for the plug + Oil change......wow pep that’s what u do now? U didn’t have the tools for that?? U could’ve been honest.

Good place with very knowledgeable and helpful staff! They do except most extended maintenance warranty policies! However, you must let them know you want to use your policy up front, before you authorize them to start work on your vehicle!!! They are licensed and have qualified, certified mechanicals working on your vehicle!
The lady was eating popcorn the entire time she was talking to me and she was on her cellphone which is unprofessional. The service was quick but they tried to upsale me tires that I didnt even need. I wont be returning. They dont care about my needs, just making money

I called them for a can of touch up paint. The guy told me they had one can, he also pulled this one can from shelf and told me it would be in will cal. Igot there 45 minutes later.and told them I had a can of paint in will call. No one knew nothing about this call and they said everyone is here except one guy who was at lunch. They acted as if I was lying. I showed them the call on my phone cause they said i may have called the wrong store. They called the guy who was at lunch and he knew nothing. I had to travel over 5 miles to another location for one can.
One of my favorites. A manager really knows his parts: whats needed and why. Theres a technician there, could be a Master Technician, really can diagnose vehicles well! Youre in great hands there.
I had made an appointment at the Pep Boys in Crestwood to get 4 new tires that I had ordered installed. When I arrived at the Crestwood store, ON TIME, my tires were gone, sold to someone else. They asked if I wanted to make another appointment. Ha! Really?Why? So I can arrange for time off work AGAIN so I can be told AGAIN that my tires have been sold to someone else?From there I went to the Lansing store.I called ahead and asked for the tires I wanted. The gentlemen there were polite and charming and they hooked me up with the tires I wanted. They even took me in right away and the best part is that they actually put aside the tires I had asked for. They were right there by the door, all stacked up real nice with my name on them.It reminds me of that episode of Jerry Seinfeld where he reserved a rental car and it was gone when he arrived. Anyone can take reservations, its the HOLDING thats important.The guys at the Lansing store know how to HOLD something thats been ordered. Thank you guys. You saved the day.

I scheduled an oil change a day ahead of time. Came in at noon. Left at 2:15I know its not Jiffy Lube, but 2 hours and 15 minutes for a scheduled oil change is ridiculous.

These guys helped us out of a real bind yesterday. We were just passing thru Chicago on 80 from Indiana to St. Louis when a snow storm hit. My daughter’s wiper fluid line froze up and she instantly couldn’t see and snow was coming down fast and traffic with all the semis was really bad. We found Pep Boys after we immediately pulled off onto Torrence and the workers were very responsive to our emergent situation. They got her car right in and defrosted the line and added more wiper fluid. No charge! We will always try to give Pep Bpys our business! Thank you guys!
My opinion is so so. Tried to point out a panel put back on wrong with pictures I took from the car wash right before I took there. Immediately got defensive and seemed to breeze through the complaint process. Just suspect. Only been there once. Not going back though!
