I had a great experience today at this location. Doug was friendly and funny, and Amy was awesome!!! She was getting lunch for the staff and she asked me if I wanted lunch too!! She literally bought me lunch. I have never had anybody do that before. My car got an alignment and Doug also told me about something else I should be fixing soon and didn’t pressure me at all about it. Wonderful customer service and I will be back.

I called this place yesterday as I was looking to get my muffler replaced, was quoted a really good price, I called them back this morning with a little bit more than a muffler needing to be replaced. Randy got on the line and quoted me a really great price, I asked if they could do it today, they said yes. Took it down and two hours later it was done. Amy the young lady on the phone was professional and attentive. The place was clean and warm. I would recommend them.

Overall what makes muffler man better than the rest is Doug. He is always friendly and helpful. Even when he has a full parking lot of vehicles to work on, he always has a smile on his face and makes the customer feel like they are a priority.

Update: no contact at all. It is now Sunday. This original review was Thursday.Our experience has been horrible! The vehicle came back to us worse off than when we took it.We dropped our vehicle off on a Saturday. We were told that we more than likely would be able to pick it up Saturday Evening. But then it wasnt done. The individual said that he was going to work on it into the night so that it could be done for us. Sunday came and went. My husband went to check on the vehicle on Monday evening. They said that they were waiting on parts. With some more discussion my husband found out that actually the catalytic converter along with a good portion of our stainless steel exhaust was STOLEN from our vehicle while parked in their lot!!!!!According to the technician the shop wants to charge us for the parts that were stolen while in their care. The technician there does seem to be very remorseful of the situation. Our minivan is a 2008 with 200,000 miles on it. It still had a lot of life left in it for our family, but just by taking it here it is currently way worse off than when we left it. If we are to claim it on insurance it will likely total the vehicle.We took back possession on Wednesday when my husband could see the mess under the car and was still getting the run around about parts. It is a disaster. He was also promised a phone call yesterday as the parts were set to come in and has yet to receive any word from the shop.One of the biggest frustrations is the lack of communication from this place.As a long time resident of the area this place used to be SOOO much better than it currently is.My husband and I are still trying to figure a way out of this mess that we would NOT be in if we hadnt taken our vehicle to this place! We are sooooo frustrated. Im still holding on to hope that this place has a heart and is willing to help us, but so far it has been a disaster....

They did a great job getting the repair done! When talking with them, I told them my price range and they worked hard to stay within that amount! They worked to finish it past regular hours too! If I have an issue, im going to them.

These guys are great! Everyone is so nice and they get their stuff done!! Although i didnt pay for any thing to get fixed, i took my car in because it was making a strange noise. He told me i needed new tires and showed me a place who could get me new ones for cheap! Theres a $100 difference from where i normally go to and where he suggested. Most places would charge to just look and see whats wrong with the car and they didnt. I will definitely be going back :)

This shop has went way down hill. It was way better years ago when my dad owned it. Please don’t go here. Managers crazy that dude needs some anger management. And some better customer service skills.

They didnt put my exhaust pipe/muffler on properly so when I hit bumps (which is often in Michigan) or turned, it would bang against the spring on my suspension. Not dangerous but intensely annoying. Took it back the next day for them to look at and they called back a few hours later having found the problem. According to them, the sound was actually coming from the front of the car and it was my struts. Amazingly, they also sell struts!Maybe there was some miscommunication but it sure seemed sleazy to me.I walked away with the muffler still banging on my springs because I cant trust them to fix the problem they created.

DO NOT GO HERE!! i went in for an alignment which was $49.95. I took it here because my truck shakes at high speeds and my tire keeps wearing unevenly. He looked at the vehicle and told me that the alignment was off but not that off. Then told me i needed some type of transfer shock replaced. So i had planned to spend $50 but ended up spending $160. He promised me that the transfer shock would resolve the issue. I ended up getting new tires on my truck and drove it to Jackson for work and hillsdale Before having the shock replaced as they had to wait for the part to come in. The entire time, my truck never shook. However, i went with his advice and got it replaced anyways. 2 weeks later my truck shakes worse than what it did. He did inform me i need a new ball joint, however after having another mechanic look at it, that was found to be false. My ball joints are good. The new mechanic felt my tire and noticed uneven wear. The uneven wear was a result of a bad alignment. The uneven wear is whats causing my vehicle to shake. So what i actually needed done and only cost $49.95, Randy said that that wasnt it and that he promised/guarantees it was the balancer/transfer shock, which was $160He never gave me a written estimate and told me it would be $145 but after he got the part in, he told me at least $160. He never gave me my old parts back and didnt even put the part on the receipt. The final invoice only lists labor, not parts. However, the part has a 1 year warranty, or so he said, but because of the invoice i have no proof i purchased the part from them, thus voiding the warranty. Their a bunch of scammers. The receptionist, Amy, isnt innocent either. She hands out her number to men and talks to them and leads them on then falsely claims harassment as a way to get the company to retaliate against customers and not honor their work or resolve issues as a result of it. A complaint has been filed with SOS. Just beware!

This is the WORST mechanic shop I’ve ever been to. The manager is very rude and combative. The workers know nothing about customer service and how to reason with a customer. I’ve seen the manager going off and yelling at a women of color, simply because they made a mistake and quoted her an incorrect price over the phone. I would never recommend that anybody spend their money here. It would a waste of your time.

Had an appointment. Never got seen. Employees didnt greet us just stared at us so we left. Dont see myself going back any time soon.

My family uses them very often and they have done work on all 4 of our cars, but after seeing the video of Tyler (the manager) lashing out on a customer has me thinking twice. I’m a manager myself, but at a restaurant, and that is NO way to talk to any customer. That poor girl shouldn’t have paid a dime after being VERBALLY ABUSED like this. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

Update 1/2/20Still a decent place to go, but they fluctuate their prices which is very frustrating. You pay one price for a job, then pay $20-30 more for the exact job (but other side) later. Too many tier prices.———Good techs there. Prices are reasonable. Cody is patient and explains things well. Good place to take your vehicle. Too bad they don’t work on transmissions.

Muffler Man on E Michigan Ave really came through with an honest quote and good workmanship! I had just been lied to by another shop and quoted $1,700 for parts that were not bad or broken! The Muffler Man mechanic showed me what was wrong and explained the process. My car was fixed within three hours for only $400 including an oil change! The mechanic at Muffler Man was very professional and patient and like I said showed me exactly what was wrong and needed to be fixed. They are often busy but they are worth the wait as this shop actually cares about their customers! Thank You to the team at Muffler Man!

Calling folks hours ahead of time when a job is completed does not mean WORKING folks can drop everything to pick up their vehicle or even get a ride to your shop. PLUS, since you do not tell folks when a job will be done (which is understandable) you need to allow folks to PAY their bill up to closing time. You are listed on Google as being open from 8am to 6pm M-F. If your corpoate office (and your location is a franchise) needs your daily sales before closing then maybe you should actually close before that time. How can customers pay otherwise?! Very very unprofessional. Knew the previous owner and the current owners charge more and obviously care less.

As a college student, I have no family around this area and not a lot of money. My car was starting to act really weird and I needed to drive it on the express way so I could go home for winter break. I was worried it would break down on my way home and then I would’ve had to pay for towing. I took my car in, told them that I have a repair shop at home and wondered if they could inspect to make sure my vehicle was safe to drive home. They knew that I wasn’t looking to get my car fixed there if it wasn’t necessary. They didn’t charge me a dime!! They told me exactly what was wrong and that it was indeed safe to drive but I need to get if fixed right when I get home. They didn’t try to tell me something was wrong and it needed to be fixed right away to get money out of me. Instead, they were super kind and understanding and explained everything to me without a charge!

Guys were friendly. You really cant beat the prices. They quotes me for a repair that a dealership quoted me $2,000 and they wrote me a quote for $900. Ill definitely be coming back to get that done when I can afford it!

I went to a different shop and they quoted me at $600+ to fix my car and told me I need a muffler replaced, I take my car here to a *muffler* shop and they fix my car for $40 and let me know that truthfully my muffler is fine. My car drives great and these guys made me feel comfortable and not taken advantage of as a female and first time car owner. And they had my car back to me the same day. They made what started off as a horrible stressful experience into a relaxed, great one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just had some MAJOR exhaust repairs made. They did a great job, gave me an honest estimate, fast and friendly service, and tried hard to save $$ on parts and labor by keeping parts that didnt really need to be replaced. Good, fair and honest. Cant be that! Thanks Kelly for the great service!

I just moved here from Washington state, previously california. Back in California I had my steering rack replaced by a family friend, and then aligned by a local Sacramento shop. The shop botched the alignment and tore up my boots and family friend basically screwed up the installation of the whole rack. Caleb and Josh were extremely helpful and explained and showed me everything that was happening and why it needed to be replaced. And theyre super reasonably priced. Thank you guys!

Really bad experience with these guys. Came in with A/C problems, they said they could fix it. Man at desk told me if I had any issues with it to come back. The A/C worked for 10 days and then died. Called up Muffler Man hoping for some guidance and for them to honor their work, instead was told tough luck and to take my car someplace else. They would not refund money either. Super classy.

These guys rock! I was traveling from Columbus to CMU when it sounded like my muffler exploded. They took my car in right away. I went to lunch with my daughter and they called to say it wasnt that bad, just a pipe needing to be welded and then called 30 minutes later to say it was done. Everyone I talked to, on the phone, and face to face were very nice! Definitely go here for your muffler repairs. I owe you guys a case of beer!

I needed a new muffler on an old vehicle. I called a couple different shops. This shop gave me the price for the best case scenario and then the worst case scenario. When I took it in they looked at the van and said the pipes were good and I only needed a muffler. The cost was exactly what was originally quoted (for the best case scenario) and they finished the job within an hour. I was treated well. The price seemed fair. Also, the reviews under google, seemed to be written by actual customers. The other Muffler Man shops in Lansings reviews just didnt ring true as actual customers.

I was nearby and worried the charging system in my car was malfunctioning so I went to this shop to have it checked out. Id never been there before. They looked into it for me and gave me some tips on how to keep my car in good shape. Didnt charge me a dime. Excellent service and good people!

Worst place ever. I had been there for 4 times, every time it cost more than $250. But it totally not worth it. My exhaust system has been linked every time. And their attitudes are terrible! Never ever come around this place!

Read the Google reviews and decided to take my car into their shop. My car had been making a rattling sound for over a month and I started to get worried, figured it had to do w my exhaust/muffler, and was hoping to not have to buy a new exhaust/muffler. I got there at about 815am, they had pulled my car in to the bay by the time I exited the bathroom. The guy came inside and said it was the stupid heat shield. Now most places wouldve suggested to either buy a new heat shield or get a whole new system altogether. But he simply said ill be done in 5 minutes. He came back in 5 minutes and said it only took him 5 seconds, no need to charge for that. The rattling on my car is gone, and they earned this review plus a return customer when something comes up on my vehicles.Honesty and integrity go a long way!

Received an email for free oil change and the receptionist told me to check the fine print after triple checking the email there was no fine print. When the mechanic come in he told me he hadnt added the fine print but I had to write 2 reviews and bring in 2 referrals to honor my free oil change. Heres my review guys! I wouldnt spend a dime here, lying to your customers is a good way to lose them.

Got stuck in a thunderstorm with broken wiper blades and this was the first place I could find as I was driving blind. These guys helped me out and were able to get me back on the road safely!

Went here earlier this week for an oil change after work since the person I bought my car from recommended it. Get there at 5:30 and the woman in charge tells me they dont do oil changes after 5:30 even though theyre open until 6 because everyone works 10 hour days and they physically leave the shop at 6pm. Call them three days later in the morning to see how long of a wait it would be for an oil change. They say 5 to 10 minutes. Im at the shop 5 minutes later and they tell me itll be about a 40 minute wait. I ask if I come back in a half hour if that would work and they say no, they do first come first serve. I ask if they do appointments, again they say no, especially not for oil changes. What kind of place is this and what kind of customer service is that? Never again.

I had a great customer experience with them today. My car suddenly started making a noise that sounded to me like an exhaust problem, but I dont know anything abut this stuff. They were able to get me right in and quickly diagnose the problem--an old, leaky flange. They cut out the bad section and welded in a new one for $80. I watched him do the work and it was clear that he was taking his time to do it right. My car sounds perfectly back to normal now.Im sure that any of the other places I might have tried would have told me I needed a new exhaust pipe, at least, and it would have been a heck of a lot more money, which I cant spare right now.Bonus points: they had toys in the waiting area, so my almost-two year old was able to amuse himself for the 90 minutes or so we were there without even resorting to the TV.

I came here to get an estimate for an exhaust install. First off before he would even talk to me he wanted all my info. After he collected my information he insisted that they bring the car in too look to see if they would need to fix anything else in order to install the exhaust. This wouldnt be an issue if I already knew I wanted it installed there but the fact that they wanted to do this before even giving me a quote was irritating. I didnt need an exact price at the moment just a rough estimate. After I agreed and he took my keys the mechanic said he didnt even need to look at it and estimated me slightly under $300 but then proceeded to tell me their would be an increase in price due to the fact that I hadnt ordered the parts through them, thus changing the price to $310. I then went to another Muffler Man and was quoted $150 for the same work. I dont know why this place has gotten so many good ratings saying that they were cheap. Sounds a little shady to me.

Quick, cheap, and done right the first time.

Got a quote. They were very friendly. Took the quote home, very and googled the muffler they were trying to sell me. They were going to charge me 99.95 for a muffler that has an MSRP of 65 dollars, and sells for 35-45. For a total of 199 installed. I asked about it, and was told they are a place of business and do up charge on their parts. I called the muffler man on Penn, and got a phone quote for a higher end muffler with the whole thing installed was only $125. Same chain, different owners, wildly different business practices. So Google your quote before spending money here. Very sketchy.

Very Disappointing. I was told I could not take my vehicle home because they closed early and could not take my payment until the following Monday. Make sure to get there well before they close or they will hold your vehicle until the next business day. Not sure if I will return.

I will not recommend this place to anyone . The manger has no bed side manner at all . The only reason, I gave it 1 star because of the receptionist was very polite but other than that you should think twice before going in .
