I try to support small businesses, especially during a pandemic, but I was shocked to see the proprietor not wearing a mask inside the store as he came up to me to ask if I needed help. However, every customer inside was wearing one. Their Google business listing says masks are required. I left right after. We are still in a pandemic--its not over!
Best mixed media store in SoCal.Dont let its small size fool you, its merchandise is top quality, and the staff super friendly.
Very knowledgeable people. Trevor & the whole GANG are very friendly.I been living in ATWATER for a very very long time. Finally got a Record Store. Thank God. Very good stuff. The price is great & reasonable. So for all you visitors that is visiting ATWATER. Please drop by and say HI to the Friendly Staff of JACKNIFE RECORDS. And maybe you might find something you like. 🤪 Well have fun visiting ATWATER.
One of the more comically overpriced record stores you’ll find, even for LA. Their Mississippi Records jocking is especially funny (they sell their tees) since those guys would definitely never be caught dead buying anything here. They literally had the same Keith Jarret record for $20 Mississippi Records had in their dollar bin, same condition. They had another common 70s classic for $20 I found at a flea market an hour later for $8, same condition. I guess they get away with it in this $$$ area, and I overheard the shoppers next to me admiring how big LPs are... 😝
They had everything you could imagine with $1 and $2 records in so many bins. Definitely had some quality finds here. Going to be a frequent visitor!
While I love most record stores, this one has a smaller selection and higher prices than most of the other record stores in the area. Its not awful but its not great. All the discounted $5 records would be in the dollar bin anywhere else (or at Goodwill). The rest of the prices are similarly marked up. Probably wont be going back when there are much better places in Echo Park and Highland Park.
Was sold a defective vintage Marantz receiver. Supposedly it was renovated, but it turned iut to be defective. Good selection of records but beware of audio gear.
Very nice little shop, I found a bunch of good plastic to spin
Jackknife is a very awesome record shop with a very awesome collection of music. Youll find cassette tapes here, too, and the selection is pretty eclectic. Also, if you need a sweet boombox, this is your place. They got everything from massive ghetto blasters to pink Sharp tape decks. The owner is super nice, as well!
Small shop with big vynyl. Fair prices. Staff didnt hesitate to assist. It cant be easy to keep a record store open. Live a little. Support this shop.
Small but well curated shop. Excellent selection of CDs and cassettes. Well stocked with soul.
Pretty cool, got some nice cassettes
A top notch space, with the best tape collection, a deep record selection, super cheap CDs, and affordable unique gear.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff/owners.
Very small but a fun dig.
Great selection. Tapes are way overpriced.
Nice place
A wide variety of musical genres in vinyl.
