Very nice used bike shop. The price is reasonable and their refurbished just work like the new one. Customer Service is very nice and friendly. They explained everything related to the bike to you. They also provide reasonable price class and workshop for you to come and learn how to repair the bike. What a wonderful small business they are. Please come and support their business and keep this wonderful business continues.
I had been trying to fix a scooter tire for the past two hours, they helped me in less than two literal minutes. They have the tools and the knowledge! Please come by and donate! Lots of cool bycicles and parts for purchase too!
Came in because my bikes front wheel got stolen; got a replacement wheel at a very reasonable price. I forget the name of the dude who was working there 3/18/21, but he was such a nice mechanic. He showed me how to tune up my brakes and derailleur as he did it, and thats what I love about this place— they dont just give you a fish, but they also teach you how to fish!
Nice bike shop with even nicer people. Good bike programs for kids and adults.
This is the kind of place that redeems ones faith in humanity. Cars ruin cities, bikes can save them. Yes the hours stink, but thats just an argument for supporting this place more.
Before you go, make sure that they are open, dont trust the website!, I guess you have to call and hope that someone picks up the phone.
Donated some stuff wish I could give time too. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say the people who work and volunteer for the betterment of humanity ... it’s people in places like this. We’re all human and someone may be reading this thinking ‘they weren’t good to me one day’ and sure. But yeah they know about the magic of bikes .... and are sharing magic, freedom, feelings of competency, accomplishment, of finding something and people and groups where you get to do something different or fun or who knows what ‘cool’ means I’m too old :-). I do professional things that help people and it’s a role they pay you well for. Handing over a beautiful bike that I just hadn’t ridden in 3 years (don’t worry rode others I have!) felt so good. The young man working that late afternoon looked up a little unsure ... THIS is the bike you’re donating? But that’s the easy part. It’s being there, being present over time in peoples lives, and listening and sharing part of yourself. Thank you for what you do ... it’s much more than any shiny bikes can do on their own. Now I gotta figure out how to get this donation recurring thing working!
Amazing service- fast, helpful, affordable and they teach you along the way! Barron was so friendly and knowledgable - he helped me put together a new wheel to replace the one that had been stolen off my bike. Would recommend this bike shop above all others Philly has to offer!
Super friendly and helpful --I am completely new to bike riding but they were willing to talk me through what bike was right for me. No pressure to buy from them. 5/5, definitely recommend.
This place is quite interesting, allowing anyone to set up a work on their bikes. The staff is extra helpful. This place has a nice community vibe to it.
Great shop! Took three of our bikes. Able to spot all of the useable parts on a bike that had seen better days. We’ll be back!
This is one heck of an awesome resource, almost too good to share. I like how they will provide as much (even better as little) assistance as you want or need. You just cant beat the reclaimed parts bins for your oddball needs.
Awesome bike shop! Highly recommend going to the open shop repair nights (bike church). People there are cool and great at teaching beginners like me. The big selection of used parts is great too, makes it possible to fix your bike on a budget.
Their Bike Church program is a fantastic place to go if you have work that needs to be done on your bike. They wont do it for you, but the volunteers will explain how to do it all for yourself (which I think is even better). Also, during those hours they will sell all sorts of cheap used parts, which is handy.
I have driven to the shop from the Suberbs twice in the past month to donate 3 bikes but shop was closed and no one at the office either. Both times were smack in the middle of their daily hours. I recommend you find a more reliable place to donate your bikes.
Neighborhood Bike Works is the best! The used bike I bought is perfect for cruising around the city and the proceeds go to help kids through bike related programming - win-win. They also have a great intro to bike mechanics class for adults to help you learn to fix your own bike.
Lovely people and great service. Bought a refurbished bike here the other week and it was great value and is a great bike. Support this community project AND get a great bike! Whats not to like?
Neighborhood Bike Works offers incredibly valuable adult and youth bike programs, a diverse array of used bikes and parts, and a communal work space (Bike Church) for folks to work on their own bike and help others to get theirs up and running. Youth programs include those that you enroll in like Earn-A-Bike, Summer Camp, and Leadership and Advance Mechanics, as well as those that graduates can attend on an ongoing basis, like drop-in and Monthly Ride Club. The shop is always stocked with an exciting array of affordable bikes and bike parts, as well as rare and hard to find vintage items.
Great bicycle nonprofit. I bought a used bike and they helped me fix it up over the course of a few weeks, all really cheap. Theyre really helpful, and teach you to fix things yourself. Theyre very well organized compared to other bike nonprofits Ive been to. Their hours are also really convenient if you have a day job. Only criticism would be that some days it gets really pakced. Try to get in early!
NBW is an awesome organization that supports youth & adults who are interested in cycling. They sell used bikes -- some have been refurbished, others are as-is -- and all proceeds go back to their youth programs (which are free for the kids!). They also have Bike Church, which is open shop time when you can come in and fix your bike, or work on the as-is bike you may have purchased. There are volunteers that are there to help you, as well, if you come across a problem you dont know how to fix. The adult mechanics class is great; its pretty affordable, and gives you some great basic knowledge about bike mechanics. I went from knowing absolutely nothing to being able to patch a flat, adjust breaks & gears, and do other routine maintenance tasks on my bike.
Great youth programs!
Neighborhood Bike Works is a great place to learn how to maintain your bike. Ive learned basic mechanics from the Adult Bike Repair series and also used Bike Church to put my bike back together after shipping it cross country. Typically I would pay a bike shop ~$50 for this service. This year I went to Bike Church and was able to put it back together myself for free thanks to the skilled guidance of volunteers there. I highly recommend NBW for skill building and used bikes too.
NBW has been absolutely incredible for making our 8000 miles memorial bike tour into a reality! They helped us assemble our bikes, choose the right gear, and empowered us with bike repair skills to use on the road. Were forever grateful, and are even more thrilled to work with NBW because of the great work they do with West Philly youth.
I walked in the store, and NO ONE, asked if I needed help. They were too busy mistreating the kids that were coming in the store. If you dont want kids from the neighborhood to frequent your store. Then maybe you should find another neighborhood to operate your business. You dont live here. They do!!
They are so great people I recommend you to go to them . Lovely people and a nice service
Best place to be to fix up your bikes old, used, preowned, or whatever. Nice bike relatable staff and a place to make donations bike related or non-bike related.
Great community-oriented service. the folks there to help arent quite pros, but they are happy to help in whatever way they can, and for free!
A) (the most infuriating) The volunteers are picky about whom they help: On my 2nd visit, people before and after me had volunteers standing by their bike and practically repairing things for them. A guy asked if I needed help and no sooner than I start responding he was talking with someone else. Then I was asked to leave before I could fasten the breaks because, yeah, their hours are really short. Had to go to a real bike shop to have everything fixed up. B) The products they sell are poor quality: the break pad I bought was of soft brittle metal that its thread got cleaved off while I was trying to put it in. C) Volunteers (or the management) mess up things while trying to repair: on my first visit I bought a cable, but the volunteer there kept snipping it with a broken cutter and cut it really short, and I ended up having a short frayed end. (I took off the tip and put it back but one guy took it off weirdly and it couldnt be covered afterwards) Upside was they had second hand parts available for free, but they are so old and worn and not really worth it. So, prepare to get your expectations really lowered.
We got an amazing 20 inch Peugot road bike for my 8 year old grandson at NBW. He was able to beat his bigger 11 year old brother and his fancy road bike in a race!. So nice that the purchase helps NBW in their mission to help youth become more productive citizens through cycling!

They tried their best to sell me one of their and sold me over priced used items. i had to go there 7 times to get a little work done. 3 times to find the place that is relocated, 4th time it was gay day, 5 to 7 to get little done.I really wanted to buy a bike, but everything there is just soooo over priced. This place is a rip off.
Great experience there! Love you guys!
I want to shot out all the people that helped me in the program baron, liz, taylor, james, billy, jamie and youth
I found there what I could not find nowhere else. The respect for those who cant afford an expensive bike or expensive repairs .👍👍👍 God bless them...
The bicycle church offers masses and spiritual help to pedal people.Come and convert to the devotion of this noble vehicle.Cheap parts and good bikes.
