Best bike shop I have worked with in my life. Walked in to the shop and was immediately recognized. Dave introduced himself, asked me my name, and then proceeded to work with my reason for being there. Even thought it was a rather minor issue, he was extremely professional. He presented me with an approximate cost and time for the repair which make me feel good since I was on a tight timeline.Found my new bike shop for sure.

I know absolutely -nothing- about bicycles, but I had been wanting one for months. I explained my situation to Grant (if his name remember correctly) and he was incredibly helpful with picking out a bike and gear suited for me and my budget. He took the time to answer all of my questions with great explanations. I had an awesome experience and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have both gotten our bikes tuned up here and the experience has been wonderful. Adam at the counter is friendly, welcoming and after hearing I was new to the city, happily gave recommendations and advice. Orlan is the mechanic who worked on my bike. He did a beautiful job and my bike is basically brand new. He called me to inform me of an additional issue with my bike and made sure I was okay with spending the extra money before he proceeded.Will be visiting this shop as long as I live in Philly.

They were able to take my boxed bike with extra accessories purchased elsewhere and get the bike looking good, as to how I envisioned it. They were supremely helpful and communicative throughout the whole process, even though it was only a 2-3 day turnaround. Even though theyre a little further way from where I live in terms of bike shops in the area, I will likely return with more maintenance/repairs.

After the recent flood, my bike completely was submerged under water. I was worried about the damage especially since it was covered in dried mid when I saw it on Friday. From the start of me making a phone call about my bike to the very end when I picked it up, everyone at Philadelphia Bikesmith from the call to the person at the desk when I paid, was very kind. Specifically, Josh + Orlin, were amazing in communicating to me every step of the process and answering my concerns. They both went above and beyond in easing my anxiety about my bike to cleaning & fixing up my bike to ensure that I could feel confident in riding it again. Thank you so much for reviving my bike! Good service, it isnt however a good spot to get new tire tubes. The tubes they use are not too great. Had it replaced about 4 times here. They mostly popped with the span of a day to three.Update review about a year after my first.Came here again to purchase some bike equipment. I had a wonderful day, but after coming here I couldnt help but feel judge by the man helping me. I am 22 and make my own money delivering food. Im not cheerful for no reason. We are also in Philadelphia where at 11am you see someone shot bullets at someone.Getting back to my point. No more talking about how I feel. The bike rack I purchased did not go on well which I asked if it would be a good fit. They have More than enough staff. Good thing Im use to improvising.At the end of my 240 dollar purchased he made sure to point out it was NON refundable and can be returned ONLY for store credit. Maybe its in my head. But I am sure I walked in feeling fine.I usually go to Fairmount bicycle store. However they are making renovations. Over their they usually have two staff but will come out of store to personally check your bike build to see what can be a good fit. Ive always walked away feeling like my money was well spent. If you want to feel good about spending money at a local store for the supporting aspect, I suggest that store. It is just about .3 miles away.I did not expect to spend 240, however price of my safety and buying what I need is what is important. I felt my session was rushed, and in the end felt like a fake interaction with another person. And so I will take my personal rating from 4 to 2 starsOne last thing, please dont hand people two sets of brake pads when one can last more than long enough. We can plan our own purchases and do not need you to push items low-key to us.Thank you for reading.

These guys are amazing. Theyre the most knowledgeable shop I know of - and at the same time the nicest and most sincere. Extremely fast turnaround (including full suspension rebuilds!!) as well. Theyve helped me out more times than I can count. It will be tough to replace them when I leave Philly!

A wonderful and effortless experience getting a full tune up of my bike. Dropped it off on Thursday and picked it up the following Tuesday, and my bike was good as new. Would highly recommend to anyone who needs repairs!

Update: they reached out to me to make me happy. This means a lot to me. For them customer is important. They offered to refund me and then once i go back with the proper part, i get proper fitting. Now i am happy to go back and do more business.Original: I went there for bike fitting. They said they charge by time and quoted me 175$ for two hours of work. When I took my bike there, they disassembled the handle for an attempt to shorten the stem, but after disassembling, he realized (which was obvious to me who does not know anything about bike) that he only can use the brand stem and they do not have it. so he re-assemble the handle back (well to original state). This took 45 minutes at most. They charged me 175$ (very unfair to me to get the same bike back with just adjusted seat). Very disappointed.

Came to the shop after getting an unexpected flat with no tools or repair kit on hand. For a Sunday afternoon, they were very professional, attentive and responsible as far as social distancing was concerned. Gave an estimate of about an hour and were spot on with timing. Unfortunately the storms kept us from getting back on the bikes. In any case, I wouldnt hesitate to use them for any future bike repairs.

After reviewing online I called to inquire about a bicycle seat. Sunday was the 1st time I visited this bike shop. Although it was curbside transaction, the two men with whom I dealt with courteous & professional. Wouldve like to have seen variety inside shop, Im sure I wouldve purchased other items apart from the seat & helmet, will definitely recommend THIS shop.

Brought my bike in after mauling the rear derailleur and doing a hack job at repairing it. These peeps took it in with zero judgement and did an outstanding job repairing it. They were also very chill on the phone and super accurate with estimates as opposed to other places like bicycle therapy. 10/10, would recommend!

I am new at bike shopping. Went to this bike shop after calling inquiring about a certain bike. Told him I was coming up. When I got there he brought a bike out for me to see, but he did not explain anything, did not ask me any questions. It was like he could not be bothered. It is a shame because he lost a sale.

Great shop with excellent service. Definitely the most pro shop around . After having been fitted on a bike by another shop, I was left with some serious knee pains. I was recommended here and ended up having two different bikes pro fitted with Max. Both bikes have felt great ever since. By far the best shop in town.

Had these guys adjust the Shimano Claris front & back derailleurs on my commuter bike. The job was so well done they now shift like Dura Ace. MINT.This is why I continue to come here and support their business.

I am a customer of Fairmount bikes for over 10 years but due to the Covid 19, they were not taking regular tuneups which I have been paying $75 for years.Last week, I took my Grandaughters Ross Mt Pocono bike for a tuneup.After looking at the bike, they called me and told me the bike needed the $125 tuneup. After further review it needed a new chain and freewheel assembly. Final bill,$200.My gripe? Really guys, don’t you think you could have /should have advised me, as a rookie Granny, on the cost/benefit of this investment on a 20 yo bike ? Fairmount bike definitely would have ! Hope they open up soon cause I can’t afford this place..And the bike is still dirty ☹️

Admittedly I know nothing about bikes. Took in a bike that was given to me and they helped adjust it and gave tips for riding. Dave was so kind and informative without going over my head. Another customer came in and he didn’t forget about me and helped the other guy out too. Seriously pleasant experience especially for a city. I’ll definitely be back!

I love riding bikes but know next to nothing about bike maintenance. The guys at Bikesmith made me feel totally comfortable with asking very basic questions. They were easy to talk to and all have a great sense of humor. As far as the actual bike is concerned, its fixed and working better than ever. Maintenance didnt take long at all the final cost was much cheaper than I was expecting. Overall, an awesome experience.

Philadelphia Bikesmith is a great place and local Fairmount gem. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is a very relaxed and comfortable environment, the staff seems to really enjoy their jobs. They do quality work and they do it quickly. I have had them work on my bike several times and never had an issue. Prices are reasonable.

I wanted to put together a bike with a frame and fork I supplied. Many bike shops told me to just buy a ride off the shelf. Bikesmith worked with me and I ended up with a bike Im really happy with. They took my suggestions and added theirs---- I now have a 1 x 10 commuter bike with a dynamo hub that rides really well. These folks do a great job!!

I am so impressed with the quality of customer service I received at Philadelphia Bikesmith. I first went there looking for a new bike and the guy who helped me pick out a few to test ride talked with me for an hour helping me figure out what would be best. I was so excited when I got my new bike, but to my dismay my front brake made a crazy loud squealing sound. I ended up bringing it back a number of times as we worked through the re-occurring problem. Every time, even though I felt like I was being an annoying customer, each person who helped me was very nice, understanding, and patient. They were dedicated to fixing my ride until it rode how a new bike should! Ultimately, we were able to get new parts through the warranty which solved everything. Thank you Philadelphia Bikesmith! This is a review of a conversion from a front suspension fork to a suspension corrected fixed fork, plus new handlebars, front brakes and rear brake pads. This was performed 6 months ago. I realize that everyone wants their products and services reviewed right after delivery but I like to wait to see how it performs over a longer use period. After many miles on the bike I can only say that this shop did a fantastic job! Everything performs well [and I love the fixed fork] and it’s all working like it should. The shop kept me informed of the progress and it was done on time. Reasonable price also. I have used many shops in my time in Philly [and this one is the furthest away from me], and this is the best service especially for the price.

Great shop from people who seriously care about bikes and their customers. Its not that other bike shops in the area arent good. Each has their benefits but Philadelphia Bikesmith has it all without the exorbitant prices of one of the other big shops in Center City.These guys are dedicated to making sure youre happy about every purchase. Before placing an order for a Kona bike from out of state, I wanted to make sure I would be getting the right frame size. Even though Ill be buying the bike elsewhere, the staff member I met was happy to let me try out the size of a floor model and lent me his advice, all free of charge. Once Ive got my bike I will be happy to give them some actual business!

After experiencing a nasty chain suck that ruined a few links I googled to find the closest bicycle shop and all I can say is: Im glad it was the Philadelphia Bikesmith. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and they were able to get me back on the road within minutes. The technician was very honest and had a good sense of humour and the price was even lower than I expected. If I ever travel to Philly again and need any kind of bike service, Ill go out of my way to visit them again.

The guys at Bikesmith are great. Not to throw them under the bus with other customers, but Ive been there several times with simple problems and they fixed it for free, or gave me some components laying around the shop that would fix it, for free. All drop-off service was done within 4 to 5 days.

You can stop looking, you just found your new bike shop.If you are looking to support a local business, this is where you should go. My service has been efficient, competitively priced, and most importantly, expertly done. I have raced my bicycle for many years, and fell out of it when I got to Philly because I couldnt find a welcoming group/shop. I have to thank Rich, Sean, Sam, Max, and Mike for getting me back on my bike.These guys will treat you like a friend, but dont confuse laid back with dispassionate - they love what they do and its why they are so good at it.

Well. First off I want to say the shop is beautiful with a friendly atmosphere, wide selection of quality parts and definitely fit the your neighborhood bike shop on their website. Ive been a few times more for service than to purchase. From my personal experience I felt as of I had to almost force service of my equipment-maybe because its deemed tedious or whatever reason. Everytime Ive gone when there is an issue with my stuff I left feeling like they didnt want the business. Silly I know. Then theres that feeling when you walk in somewhere and you feel like outsider, not the same welcome feeling when neighborhood regulars shows up and that energy is present. Again, silly I know.Todays check out was better the associate and I were chatting about downhill mtb, he spoke about his experience which was awesome hoping to get to his level someday.Its about the total experience. The work I was able to get done stands the abuse of downhill and would consider going back but after I try other places first.Hopefully this wont ruin any future visits because of my personal experience because in the end it is a nice shop.

I was in search of a new bike and came in to Bikesmith to talk with Lucas and Max about what I wanted. upon initial consultation we realized that what I wanted wasnt going to be available from any bike company. A few weeks later Sam Clark aka Dr. Frankenstein built a bike based on what I had described, using parts from a number of different projects, and Lucas called me to come try it out. I bought it. Easily the best experience Ive ever had with a bikeshop and the coolest bike Ive ever ridden.

I visited Philadelphia Bikesmith on June 11th, 2019. I own a Junto e-bike and had a flat front tire which I needed to get fixed. I called them to ask about prices and they were extremely responsive and friendly on the phone. I took the bike in, they worked on it and had my bike done extremely fast. Ive been to other bike shops in the city and Ive had to wait a long time for flat fixes. Other bike shops have also charged me extra for having an e-bike because their racks aret big enough to hold my bike. I wish I knew about Philadelphia Bikesmith way sooner because I would have gone here every time. If you are looking for professional and friendly service, then you have to go here!

Amazing service!! and very fast, they built my bike of out the box in no time, they told me that it would take 3 days because they had a lotta work. but next day by noon it was finish. I have a lot of respect for the love and commitment this guys have for their profession.

Since moving to the neighborhood, I had been wondering which of the several local stores would become my LBS. As fate would have it, I gave myself a pinch flat, and this was the closest location. Turns out Im lucky, because these guys are phenomenal. The staff is super easy to approach and the shop really has a personal vibe to it. Since I had recently put my bike together, the owner freely offered to tighten things to spec and lube things as necessary. I was so impressed with their pricing and quick servicing time that I decided to also replace my rear cog! Definitely going to come here for my future cycling needs. PS they have a very friendly/cute dog that roams the store looking for playmates.

Great bunch of guys. 30 years in the area and have tried all the shops. From Human Zoom to Bike Line to Performance to Bikes by Kyle to Keswick I have tried them all, and my opinion these guys are the best shop in the area in terms of service and attitude.This and Beans Bikes in Devon are my two favorites.

Ive gone to other shops like Via Bikes and Frankenstein and both were fine, but Bikesmith is definitely my favorite. All of these guys are knowledgeable, damn good mechanics, and provide excellent customer service (and I work in retail!)They will always take the time to answer any questions and Max volunteered to properly fit my adjustable size helmet to my noggin before I left the store. And their prices are fair and totally affordable.If you rely on your bike as your primary source of transportation (I commute 6 miles a day, 7-8 months a year) then you need a reliable shop. These gents will treat you right.I will say, Richie is a friend of mine and a magical wizard. He turned my beat up 12-speed road bike into a sweet little single-speed ride with coaster brakes (and left me front wheel brakes to help me out). Its like riding a unicorn to work.

Philadelphia Bikesmith is a one stop shop for casual bikers, commuters, competitive cyclists, and triathletes looking to up at least one of their three events.Aside from stocking all you can need for your biking, Philadelphia Bikesmith offers the BEST service in town. The staff will never try to upsell you unless that higher end product is actually what you needed. The staff will make sure that you are helped immediately and, if very busy, they will at least acknowledge you and ask if you can hang tight for a bit. Most importantly, if you do not know much about bikes and have a problem, the staff will never treat you dumb for not knowing whats going on; contrarily, they take the time to explain it to you and teach you how to avoid/manage such problems.Do the right thing for yourself, go to this shop.

I. Love. These. Beings.(Would say people but even the dogs are awesome!)They are:1. Skilled - I have never had a question they couldnt answer and I ask a LOT of questions. Repairs have been top notch and recommendations for work or replacement parts have been tuned to my riding style and needs. No hard sells, just one rider to another with no judgement.2. Patient - hi I have so many questions ok, lets start at the top... They want you to make the right decisions. And not just me with my many questions, but I have listened to other riders who have stopped in while Im waiting for service. Note: I have never tried this on a busy Saturday in the spring when they have the least time to spend with people but I think even then theyd be rockstars.3. Kind - see no judgement above. If you are riding a fancy road bike or a mediocre commuter, they get it. They treat every customer like the only thing that matters is that they love their ride.4. Dedicated - they ride all kinds of bikes for all kinds of reasons and want you to do the same. Its really obvious thats why they are there.5. Well stocked - they have a little bit of something for everyone. They can sell you fancy bikes or entry level, accessories for all kinds of weird needs, and for the things they actually dont have stocked they order and call you in a day or two when they do have it. And they are way cooler to stop by and visit than the UPS delivery person.6. Dogs - the best shops have animals around. They check this box adorably.There is nothing pretentious or snooty about these folks. Just a bunch of rockstars quietly doing their thing.
