The guys of Trek Center City were working repairs out of their van during the Bridge to Beach Century ride this fall. I busted some spokes at mile 80, and the repair was not possible at the time, in the middle of nowhere; they didnt cary extra wheels in the repair van. With a large heart and bit of faith, I was given the front wheel from the repair technicians personal bike, Just bring it back to Trek Center City when you can. Are you sure??? Of course. You have to finish the race! This is the personal mom and pop feel you want from a bike shop. I was getting ready to call my wife to pick me up at mile 80. Thanks to the guys at Trek, I finished the race strong, and changed my local bike shop. When I returned the wheel, I started a consultation to set up my gravel bike for another race. Right away, the conversation has been personal and attentive.5 stars.
They quickly and effectively changed my tires. In and out within 15 minutes and at a fair price too. No complaints
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They have great quality bikes for all people of different heights. You get a free tune up after one year of owning your new bike. They checked my brakes, gears, chains, etc on my new bike before I walked out of the store with it to make sure everything was in place and worked right. It came with a 2 year warranty which is good. I love that they have water bottle holders that match the color of your bike. They are also pet friendly which is awesome. I highly recommend this place.
Good bike selection and service available. Friendly and helpful staff.
Hi Philadelphia! I recommend the team at Trek Philly without reservations. I wanted to get my vintage Klein Attitude mountain bike restored, upgraded, and retrofitted to a one-by-nine. Phil and his team were excited about the project and did a great job detailing and servicing the bike, and providing new parts and the drive chain retrofit. The Klein now looks stunning. Gear ratios are excellent, new braking system flawless, and it rides incredibly smooth, and they also shaved off a pound of parts, cables, etc.. All that for reasonable price, no hassle, and great experience. Thnx Trek Bike Philly for a 5-star experience! Eric Z.
Thorough and friendly service!! I was greeted by Taylor when I came in and they were incredibly kind and welcoming to me (as well as everyone on staff) and Ben helped show me a couple things regarding the maintenance of my bike as well as hooking me up with some security measures that will make me feel a lot safer leaving my bike outside. They even installed the new safety spoke things I got from them so I wouldnt have to.Thanks so much, will definitely be returning and advising people here in the future.
Friendly staff. Fixed up my trek 1.5 and made it feel new!
I knew about the Philadelphia Trek shop back when it was Breakaway bikes. To be honest, at first I was unsure if I was still going to want to come to the shop regularly. However after getting a rear wheel re-built I one of the technicians, Taylor, came out and talked to me about my bike (an old steel frame fixed gear conversion). To start, he *asked* if I was interested in any advice or recommendations, and if I had said no he would have let it end at that. When I said I was interested he had recommendations on replacing my pedals and straps, and when I brought up I was looking at replace a bunch of parts that were getting end of life he helped me in picking out and getting a new chain, crank ring, rear cog, crank arms, and bottom bracket (which was in such bad shape it actually disintegrated when he went to take it out). In addition to that he also suggested a dual color cork tape wrap which is both super comfortable and looks really cool. (If there was a place to upload a photo I would!)Throughout the whole process both Taylor and everyone else who worked in the store were friendly, professional and informative, and even though its not primarily a store for fixed gear bikes it is an excellent place to bring one. I now think of the Philly Trek store as my bike shop in Philadelphia, and Ill be going there for years to come.
Great customer service, staff are knowledgeable about everything, and the bike options were plentiful. I like the bundled service options for maintenance and I felt well taken care of as a new member of fhe cycling community.
Im very new to biking and dealing with a bike shop. Im simply amazed on how each employee works in this place. No matter if you are buying a $20 add on piece or a $5000 bike they treat their customers the way any business should with courtesy and respect! From the second you walk in this store someone is there to help you ...really an awesome experience!!
Fantastic staff and service! I had an inspection done by their older management and my bicycle started falling apart. The new management fixed it up like new for half price and really got my bike back on the road...Alvin is the man!
Expert, conscientious, above-the-call-of-duty service. Trek bikes are some of the best-engineered bikes today, & this might be the company’s best store east of Waterloo, WI. I rode my Trek Boone for 30,000 HARD miles, and when the frame began to show serious stress-wear, Trek Chestnut Street handled the Lifetime Frame Warranty (original buyer) for me fast, found me a replacement frame during a global bike shortage, & got me back on the road again in time for my annual multi-day ride—working after hours to get it done on deadline. I am devoted to this shop & this bike manufacturer. Highest endorsement.
Ben called me on a Sunday to discuss my low rating in their auto-generated survey after buying a brake cable. All I asked of him was to escalate my concern of Trek profiting from dealing with police departments across the country which was met with multiple uses of brother and then assuming. He then followed up with an email talking about how it affects his performance reviews. Sorry you work for a corporate entity and not a real local bike shop brotha!
Im new to cycling in a city and the store members were extremely helpful and supportive. They offered plenty of good advice and tips as I move forward.
Great place. Staff loves to nerd out on bike stuff. Theyre awesome and friendly. Very welcoming. A vital resource for bicyclists or wheelchair trekkers.
Today i went to pick up my bike that was being held from the previous day. I was excited to finally find a bike Im interested in. Chris and Team saw that everything went smooth and walked me through the bike and accessories. I enjoyed my experience shopping here and look forward to riding with the team someday. Thank you
Do not buy from this trek store. Terrible terrible terrible customer service from everyone involved. I bought a bike paid it in full and the next day later they sold my bike to someone else and it took weeks to get my money back. Also we’re very rude to me during this whole process.
Trek bicycle is the # 1. Place to get anything and everything tou need for your bike. Staff is totally awesome. 10 stars
Taylor whipped out that issue like I had no problem! Ben took care of that transaction like it was nothing and I was out on the road making money again in no time! Yeah they have bikes Ill never own(I hate road riding - Di2 dura ace, full carbon, maybe 17lbs) but they know the spectrum of it all. Whatever you got - bring it to CC and they got you. Riders word
I came in after taking a spill on my bike and they helped me out with first aid before talking about my bike tune-up. Super friendly staff and my bike rides like a dream now :)
This shop is awesome to include both sales and bike service. I bought my bike in the middle of the pandemic and this shop hooked me up good both during the buying process and after. It’s clear that they value you as a customer and ensuring you make the most of your biking experience. I have done various upgrades to my bike as well as adding accessories and the staff were great with providing their expert advice. I would highly recommend purchasing your bike from Trek Center City. Special shout out to Jeff-who sold me my bike.
This place is the absolute best! With a new, very-professional store manager and staff, it has evolved into a team-driven, epic whole-practice reimagination and redesign of customer experience after TREK’s takeover 2 years ago with incremental changes that proved insufficient. Now, walking in, you sense immediately that every staff member in sight has registered your entry and is there to serve you, be it directly or from the background. It’s a collective work product, with both individual and mutual accountability – all aimed at the same team purpose: serving the customer’s needs. For me, they accomplished a complicated upgrade for my wife’s flat bar road bike from a 2x10 drivetrain to a comparable 1x11. This involved multiple team members and consultations with the component manufacturer to ensure compatibility as well as with the TREK national support network to actually acquire the parts despite the current Covid-driven shortages. Kudos to Store Manager Ben, Service Manager Alban, Catelyn, Joy, Alex, and a host of others who, while I don’t know their names, I do know their competence and professionalism served me well.
Friendly, and good service and products
Used to come here for repairs and had a very good experience with a freindly bike mechanic, excellent work on his part. Unfortunately will not be going back because they will no longer work on (non-electric components) of electic bikes. Only bike shop I have ever encountered this problem at, I just needed a completely standard hydrolic brake bleed. Also if your looking for a new bike you can find bikes of similar or better quality for much cheaper elsewhere, would only recomend this place for mechanic service for non-electic bikes.
Absolutely great service that was honest and gave great recommending bikes to my personal preference, friendly and extremely helpful. even after making my choice they still explained and tried to give me the best scale of what i was getting into and as for the bike itself i couldnt be happier with my choice
The owner was nice enough to lend me a bike helmet and he wouldn’t even let me pay for the rental. Really super dude and the store itself was a nice big open store with smiling employees (under their masks) and plenty of bikes and accessories. Check them out. I believe his name was Jeff. He’ll definitely take care of you. Thanks Trek Bikes!
Rob was an awesome technician that walked me thru his inspection and taught me how to take better care of my bike -- that was great value
Went for a flat tire. They fixed it for a high price and they ruined my brakes. They said they needed to change the whole piece bc whatever. I said no and left with no brakes in the front tire. Went to some other shop and got it fixed. No need to change the piece. Seems like they always try to add some extra work and, of course, charge a lot for it.
Thank you so much for tuning up my bike and getting me right! Special s/o to Maria for being a great help and being knowledgeable about the products the store sells. 10/10 Service
This store is about 2 hours away from me and I have two local trek stores near me however this is the only store I’d ever goto! I haven’t talked to everyone in the store but Chris and Jeff are awesome.Especially Jeff is amazing. Helpful, knowledgeable, kind, explanatory, great service over all. I wasn’t even asked to review the service but I have been here twice and both times I felt the need to leave a positive review before I left the store.10/10 would go back again and again. Treks are great bikes but I have had diamond backs and giants however Service and care I got at this store made me like Trek even more as a brand!Bought two bikes in last one week. Going back soon to get one more.
Very enthusiastic and helpful employees make me feel like they ready to help me now matter how busy they are.
I just purchased an FX6 outside of Baltimore and had it shipped to Trek Center City. I also had my older Trek serviced there. The service was excellent and the staff were very, very helpful. Its clear that these folks put the customer first, and it is the customers experience that counts, not what the bike shop says is so.Highly recommend this shop.
Extremely helpful staff and clean store.
Fast and professional service.
Joe is the coolest dude out, helped me last minute during a snow storm and it made my day.
I needed to get sized and purchase road bike SPD compatible shoes. The staff was extremely helpful, gave me a good sense on the pros and cons for different types of shoes, and helped me find the best shoes for my level.
Quick service, knowledgeable & friendly staff! :- )
Long story short Jeff and Devlin were great to deal with. They helped me get a bike for my wife when getting a bike is nearly impossible. Customer service is a dying thing these days but not here. I was blown away by how great they are at this location and highly suggest others give them a try. You wont regret it.
Awesome experience. Helped a newbie by a FX3. Awesome ride, awesome staff
Everyone was so friendly and they took to check out my bike and explain the issues with it prior to taking it in to get fully serviced. They were also so incredibly fast! Thanks!
Best bike store experience ever!I’m from Brooklyn, NY and travel to Philly for everything Trek related, because I LOVE this store and its staff. I originally came across the shop because they had a bike in stock that I wanted and because of Covid-19, it was hard to find bikes anywhere on earth, especially NYC...so I got lucky finding what I wanted in Philly. I had such a great experience working with manager Jeff and his team of experts, that I continue to make trips to Philly to purchase all my Trek products/ accessories, even though I can find some of them online or at a closer location. Customer service is one of the reasons I decided to buy a Trek bike and accessories, and nothing compares to a great in person experience. I will continue returning to Philly for that great customer service and knowing I’m in good hands. They weren’t pushy or trying to sell me anything I didn’t need or want, they’re always honest and were thorough in explaining and making sure I fully understood their products. Love Jeff and the team at Trek Philadelphia Center City!
GREAT LOCATION UP TO TECH WITH LOCAL BIKE YOCALS, ALL LEARNING THE EBIKE CURVE. VERY COOL PLACE TO VISIT. AND THE PRICES ARE FAIR FOR MORE VALUABLE SERVICE, ADVICE AND BIKE HELP. ENJOY THE FUTURE IN FILTHY PHILLY.
Great bike shop! Awesome team
Fantastic service - great people who work there. And very convenient location in Center City....
They don’t answer their phone. Consistently over the past month or so (had multiple things done), I’ve been calling them regularly. I usually have to call 4-5 times to get someone to pick up and then there’s a 25% chance I get put on hold for 5-10 minutes. One time it was 15 minutes on hold and I just hung up. Also has taken them a very long time to do work, more than they estimated each time. Their quality seems good, but really not good customer service.UPDATE:Changing from 2 to 4 stars. Managers Jeff and Phil are great and did their best to solve a problem that was not their personal fault. Feel like they heard my concerns and took them seriously.
Really great experience with Trek Center City today! I came in looking for the FX 3 and unfortunately, they were out of stock as it’s a quick selling bike.. I cannot remember the name of the man assisting me but as I was considering buying the FX 2 instead as they had one in stock.. he was able to look through the inventory one more time and find the exact bike in my size and model at their Wilmington store.. It was such a pleasant experience during their very busy time!
Great place! The staff are friendly, efficient and fast! It just became my go to place to fix my bike when I need. Definitely referring to everyone I know.Thank you!
Great and amazing service from Jeff. All guys at this store are super helpful and kind but Jeff specifically made the shopping experience extremely comfortable and enjoyable. This store is over an hour from me and there are local stores but I’ll only be going to this one going forward considering the service I received from Jeff.
Everyone at the Chestnut St shop was very friendly when I had to drop my bike off for a flat repair with no advance notice. I was able to leave it for the repair and get a text/email notification when it was ready. Overall, it was very quick and convenient. The cost to replace the tube on the rear tire was just over $20, which is reasonable but maybe a little on the high side versus other local shops. That said, for the convenience and service, its worth it for my purposes. I havent made any other purchases or taken advantage of their other services but they seem to have a wide range to offer.
Great professional & friendly service.
Trek gets another 5 Stars from me for bringing their store into Center City. And what a great group of bike professionals here at this location. Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. And Phil trued my front wheel so well that I can’t see any wobble at all. Amazing. He was like a magician with his tools. I still love the folks at the Manayunk Trek, but it is just such a great convenience to also have a great group of people at the Center City Trek. Thanks to Trek and to these professionals for taking such great care of my bike. I Highly recommended.
These guys are the best! Every time I go in there, everyone is super friendly and informative (and patient with those who, like myself, have much to learn about bicycles)! The products are definitely geared toward a specific sport cycling market and can be pricey, so I mostly go here for repairs (but I dont go anywhere else)!!My experience there on Sunday Oct. 13 totally turned my day around! Greg, David, and Ethan were sooo cool and helpful, and great to talk to! Loved the music in the store! Had to go back unfortunately on Wednesday for ANOTHER flat (happens a lot when you make deliveries in the rain), and Phil and Greg helped me out and were amazing again! Best place in town (and I have been to them all). Thanks, guys!
The guys responded on the same day to my request. Any other bike shop would deliver in 2-3 days. Great mechanics too.
The people at Trek are all great. I had a very positive experience. It was close to closing time for them when my bike tired took a shard of glass to it. I called ahead and knew that itd probably have to stay the night and I was grateful even for that. But when I got there one of the guys (Im blanking on his name, sorry) said hed change the tire for me even though they were about to close. It was done in about 5 minutes and I was on my way. I would definitely recommend Trek to anyone and everyone.
Really helpful and accommodating staff. Already bought a bike for my daughter here and ordered one for myself. Waiting for it to get built as I leave this review.
I’m new to biking and I purchased an FX3 today. It was the best experience I’ve had in a long time. Phil not only set everything up but took the time to explain everything about the bike and biking in general to me. Can I also mention he did this well after they closed. If you need a bike, come see Phil. One more thing I came all the way down here from delco just because of the customer service I received over the phone.
Definitely the best+friendliest bike shop I’ve encountered in philly. That, plus they stand behind their products makes me pretty confident this is the place to go for a new bike. Phil and Craig will do you right.
Super friendly and knowledgeable sales associates.
This is THE best place! I go here regularly for all of my bike needs and am always pleased with the friendly and cool staff! And the stores inventory is perfect- whenever I need something they always have it and often have several options for me to choose from. I have a great experience everytime!
Very friendly workers, I went in to get a chain and free wheel cog installed and they were done in about 20 mins. Great service
Awesome experience! they recently got a new manager and the shop seems to be really improved. I was impressed with the service and how kind they are.
Great guys. Friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help.
Another great experience at Trek I went in to get my chain replaced and David not only did it right away but he went above and beyond to make sure my bike was clean, he even pumped up my tires with out me even asking 👍 Staff is always accommodating and very professional!Additional plus- always playing good music in the store
Very helpful staff, work quickly. Replaced an inner tube very quickly & efficiently.
Great staff. Very helpful 👌
I needed a suspension part for my ‘16 Trek Remedy. Phil, Jeff and the team got the part and me back on the trails quickly. Thanks!
I commute to work downtown. Its my go to shop for quick repairs and necessities.
Helpful manager and service staff but out of kickstands.
I came in with another flat tire in the middle of the day and the guys in the shop had me fixed up with a new tube and two new tires. Great knowledgeable service!
Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. My new go to location.
Great employees, great products and location!
Unreliable for parts replacement/servicing
I currently have a trek bicycle which I love and was looking to upgrade. The staff member was extremely rude, with no time of day for me. An Unfortunate reminder that customer service is dying.
Great bike shop with knowledgeable staff, friendly service and terrific product line.
Always a positive experience
Went into the trek store on chestnut and the really took care of my bike, love those guys.
The shop has a lot of products, but I didnt like the treatment. I was making an effort to buy something, but the seller didnt event want to check the prices. Im not from this city, but probably could find another place with a better treatment.
Edit- will you be putting a new sign up? The front of your shop still says Breakaway. Glad to hear you got rid of Kyle. Found it odd that I saw the same guy coming out of the store. Regardless, it still seems you have an issue with the customer service and rude employees. Ill stop by and see if the same guys are there.--Found the review from one month ago:TThe guy Kyle is a downright rude and condescending. Absolutely astonished this person has a customer service position. GO TO ANOTHER BIKE SHOP, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.These guys(not only Kyle, but one or two of the mechanics as well) at breakaway are unbelievably curt, smug, cross and downright rude. They speak as if they are kings speaking to peasants. They fail to review their work or test ride to ensure quality. I had been here a few times in the past and it was decent work but most recent experience was absolutely terrible. Got a gold tune. sent me out the door with a front quick release that was barely tightened down, enough so that when I hit the breaks the whole front wheel shifted position to rub the fender and push the fender out of position. Granted it was tight clearance, but never shifted positions before and had no clearance issues. HAD I HIT THE BREAKS HARDER OR HAD THE WHEEL JUST BEEN A BIT MORE LOOSE, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A RISK OF BODILY INJURY AS A RESULT OF THEM FAILING TO TIGHTEN DOWN THE WHEEL PROPERLY. similar to a mechanic not torquing the lugs on a car hub. Their failure is a liability. Moreover, the shifting was worse when I got the bike back. I brought it back to the store and they tell me it was like that already???? I had been riding the bike for over a thousand miles and no such thing ever occurred.-THEY LITERALLY JUST HAD TO TIGHTEN DOWN THE QUICK RELEASE, THAT IS IT. Unbelievably sloppy. Fixed it myself when I got home. When I pressed the subject they proceeded to say it HAD to be like that before and blame it on the bike components. They went so far as to tell me to stop talking when questioning them, yet continued to insult me saying I dont know what Im talking about. They charge 100 bucks for a tune and cant even properly tighten down a quick release. I have been riding this bike with the full weight of 200 LBS + for over 1300 miles with no play in the front wheel... ever. They simply failed at their job. Twice! The first time I went to pick it up, and the SECOND TIME after asking they review the bike again. They think they know it all but all hell breaks lose if you question their work. I am simply amazed at how poor their service was, absolutely floored. I IMPLORE you to take your business elsewhere. These guys do slop work and are indignant about it when you confront them on it. They refunded the hundred for the tune only after telling me to shut up at the register and stop talking, while they continued to insult my understanding of bicycles. That said, I had assembled multiple components on the bike prior to this event which required no additional maintenance.--This place is just breakaway bikes thats been re-branded. Seems to be the same employees with terrible condescending attitude. Paid a hundred bucks for the gold tune, plus another fifty for components. They send me out the door with a loose front wheel. I take it back ask them to fix it. Kyle, dude with some longer hair and an attitude like hes king George, tells me it had to have been like that. I had put over 1200 miles on it and never had the front wheel shift under heavy braking. All that needed to be done was tighten down the front skewer a bit more. Kyle got so upset when I was telling him that it wasnt like that before that he told me to stop talking and refunded my money. I wish I could pull the review I left when they were transitioning. But since the breakaway name shows closed permanently, I was unable to locate it. This store may have had a change in ownership or management, but the same stink of condescension permeates the air. STAY AWAY.--credit where its due. They did true the back wheel and fix my loose headset.
Great service.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Nice crew helpful with a minor problem
Rude staff. I went in for an MS charity bike inspection (free) and the staff said it was a service they unfortunately would do for me. They looked at my bike for all about 30 seconds, put a ms tag on it and sent me on my way. Closest Trek shop to my home I wont be visiting ever again.
Great product selection and awesome staff!!!
I interacted with one staff member for about 30 seconds, and he couldnt care less about treating me politely. Not a great start.
Just left breakaway bikes and training Center walked in looking for an E bike ask the representative if he did any demos he said no and then walked away from me with no interest in asking me in anyway shape or form could I help you with any other interest in an E bike so I stood there for about 10 minutes looking at the bikes and walked away never to be back again
Great Job!
Bad customer service
They were very nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend going there.
