For the hardwood I was looking for it was the best price and it was available. Since I only need 4 pieces 80’. They cut them in half so I could haul it off. There’s a few hardwood places in town but I had a good experience here. I’d definitely go back. Based on selection, availability and helpful. Thanks Spellmans for my Apitong decking.

Good selection off wood but poor customer service and a painful checkout/pickup process. I went to pick up a 12th sheet of white oak and when I got home I realized it was red oak and didnt match.I had to take off work a second time to spend another 1.5 hours to exchange it. After spending $1200, the only thing the would offer was to have it ready for me.I will still go here when they are the only ones who have what I need.Update: added 1 star back for them caring who made the pull and making the exchange quick and painless.

Small shop(s) that have purchased from Spellman over 30 yrs combined, no longer. Sold us a faulty product. Had to re-purchase and rebuild at our cost. Sent proof of faulty product to Spellman and (per their request) to the manufacturer they bought from. Crickets. Spellman is not concerned with negative reviews, formal complaints or the like and has done absolutely nothing to remedy. Loyalty is also not something they seem to be concerned with, so we will gladly go elsewhere and tell our small community of other shops to do the same! Such a shame. We really value the suppliers we work with and the relationships with them that make each project go smoothly, just not in this case.

Unethical business we had our CC on file for convenience. Quoted and purchased a unit of Baltic birch. The birch was delivered and about a week later the salesperson called stating she had quoted the wrong price. We refused to pay the difference.The company charged our CC without our authorization.Be very careful dealing with this business

After over 30 years of being a customer today was the last day of being belittled and disrespected that I had to call it quits. The warehouse Forman if he is not sleeping in his chair is always on his phone and not leading as he should. There is no accountability about anything from Tom the salesman all the way to whomever is at the bottom. Unless your spending 10s of thousands a day you are absolutely NOTHING to them. No respect not even for a 30 year customer. How things have changed and not for the better.

Wood looks good. Just FYI, though, the employee restroom has no soap or paper towels. Theyre not just out - there are no fixtures for them. Just a dirty sink. Hearty handshakes not recommended. (Rating based on wood, any viruses received should be considered a freebie)

Best prices in Phoenix. They handle walk in customers as well. It is primarily wholesale, but they handle small orders as well. Note: if you dont know how to purchase by board feet, read up on it ahead of time. You will have less anxiety when you go in.

Knowledgeable staff. Lots of stock. Pricing was fair. Not very flexible or customer service oriented, though. Know precisely what you need and order it is a great experience. Any other experience can be a little rough.

The best price on lumber and best customer service

I was impressed with the volume of lumber they have as what seemed to be ten minutes was more like forty after walking around. I found that they are a very busy operation and the key is to be patient as most of the staff is more than willing to help you find what you need. I described what I was looking for and we walked the lot looking at pieces finding the perfect specimens for my project. It doesnt matter if your buying large bulk or a small hobby builder like myself. I was very happy with my purchase and even more impressed with the prices as most hardwood stores seem to have high mark ups. I was very grateful for the help and I will be back to look for my lumber for my next project.

The guys here are really nice, and theyre pretty fast to get you unloaded. Make sure you stage out on the street and check to see if theres a truck in the dock. If theres no truck in there head on in open your doors and bump the dock. Important note, stay on the street until the other big rig is gone, if you pull into their lot and wait for the semi in the dock, one of the other smaller day delivery trucks is bound to show up. They get kind of grumpy with you and will happily block you. Just saying

New woodworker and first trip to a hardwood dealer. I needed a couple of sheets of shop grade ply for a couple of projects. Rumor has it that Spellmans was the LAST place youd want to go... That they didnt like selling to individuals. I called the main number and spoke with a great guy who said absolutely! See you when you get here. I went down and told them I had no experience at a hardwood dealer but knew what I wanted. Everyone was helpful, patient and kind. I felt a bit awkward only because I didnt know what the routine was. I paid about $112 for the two sheets. After cutting into one sheet already, I can say that the extra cost is WORTH IT. There were almost NO voids and the wood is sturdy. I cant wait to load up my lumber rack soon. I know exactly where Ill head...

Love these guys. Louis was hugely helpful to me. I way underestimated my hardwood requirements so Ill enjoy going back tomorrow morning. Louis took the time to show me various options and select the best one for me. He then helped me cull through the wood so I selected 140bf of material which all matched closely. Same with 11 sheets of domestic plywood. Then when I was talking to him about building drawers, he showed me their terrific ready to go drawer material. I was sold on using them instead of doing it all myself. So Louis then helped me select that stock, again, all closely matching. I cant say enough positive about Spellmans. Its THE place to go for hardwoods and plywoods. Fair prices but outstanding quality.
