The only place that would charge a customer as much as possible for no work being done at all.I guess Ken needed to make up for lost business from covid or just in general.240.00$ for an estimate,NO WORK at all, lol.Fortunately another well known and respected garage in Plattsburgh located by charter spectrum, gave a FREE estimate, and actually did a complete excellent job for a great price.
I am so disgusted with my experience at European Autohaus I have included photographic evidence proving the outlandish, manipulative, cheating tactics of owner/operator Kent Becker. On 07/01/2020 I brought my 2011 BMW X5 50I to European Autohaus for a diagnostic related to a constant misfire on one cylinder, lets keep in mind this vehicle retails for $75 to $100 thousand dollars when new. Kent instructed a tech, or performed himself, a hobbyist mechanic procedure to determine which cylinder is misfiring (swapping spark plugs and coil packs to other cylinders to see if the misfire moves from one cylinder to another) Additionally Kent/tech tested one spark plug for spark. Lastly Kent or tech compression tested one cylinder. His report conclusively stated that my vehicle has a valve related issue, may it be Carbon/Sludge buildup or actual physical damage to the valves. Any further diagnosis would require engine REMOVAL. He quoted a MINIMUM of $5,000.00. The cost of this current invoice is $933.72 (see photos) After conversing with Kent his suggestion is to list my vehicle for sale at the price of $1,000.00 and if I got $600 to take it and RUN, RUN FAST!! (One headlight used is selling for $750.00 on eBay) I trusted Kent and paid the invoice. Almost forgot, now my vehicle is misfiring violently on 3 to 4 different cylinders and is barley drivable. Weary of this report, I had a second shop diagnose my vehicle. This is where the fun starts. 3 hours after dropping my vehicle off, I received a call from second shop. All spark plugs and coil packs had to be replaced for any further diagnosis, however the tech stated it is extremely unlikely that I will still have a misfire. I can pick up car as is for $99.00 or have the repair performed for a total of $811.00 I told the tech to go ahead with the repair. 3 days later I received a call from second shop. I am all set! no more misfire no more engine lights, the car is running fantastic. As promised the invoice is $811.00 plus tax. I immediately picked up my now inspected X5 and drove to Manhattan the same day, flawless NO issues of any kind. My son took it to New Hampshire 2 days later, trailer in tow, 450 miles round trip absolutely perfect. I could go on and on. I could express more detail regarding Kents behavior that would make your stomach curl. In 2019 I brought my X5 to Kent for a coolant leak he admittedly was unable to fix, but still charged me in excess of $1800.00 I suggest viewing submitted photos for this review. Kent manipulated, cheated, lied, and conned me just for a few thousand dollars, DO NOT become his next mark. Want to talk to me about this? [email protected] Kent, may god have mercy for your develish ways, I pray for you.
The staff is always friendly and helpful. Always willing to answer my questions. They do great work and get the job done as planned on time (barring any things outside of their control). I would recommend European Autohaus.
Worth the investment! I purchased my first used Audi at another dealership in 2012 with an oral (not written) guarantee for one year. After four years bringing it to other mechanics in the Plattsburgh area, it still continuously had the same issues. Every other mechanic seemed very confident in what they did, but problems would only disappear for a short period of time only to return. I wasted a LOT of money trying to save money. Finally, I brought the car to the Autohaus in 2016 after being told by another mechanic that it had jumped time and to get rid of the car. Bottom line: European Autohaus fixed the car after four years where other so-called experts had failed. In addition, they identified some issues (one serious and dangerous) that had been created by other mechanics in their attempt to fix the car. I still drive the Audi and also purchased a BMW through the Autohaus . I now own two beautiful German cars that run well and are repaired properly. I will never bring my cars anywhere else again. If you buy a rocket ship, expect to pay for maintaining it. These are sophisticated machines and require expert TLC to maintain. The payoff is that you have a safe luxury car that will last many years while the Hyundais and Kias are in the scrap yard.p.s. - the negative reviews seem to generally be people that are starstruck and buy a good looking used car with issues that they cannot afford to fix. I bet the $50.00 repair job will turn out to be a waste of money in a short period of time.
Horrible. Was charged over $1700 on my sons car to have not one part replaced. That was 15 hours of labor and car still not fixed. Would not call us back or give any information. Never go.
Kent Becker and the automechanics at European Autohaus are knowledgeable, resourceful and courteous The team will work hard to solve any problems as quickly and efficiently as possible In my latest experience the team went way above and beyond to get my car back to me I highly recommend this business Kathleen
They are awesome!!! Very professional, friendly and dedicated. We r so lucky they r only one hour away as we have some foreign cars that need attenation every now and then. Kent and his team r the best!!!
Good work at a fair price. Timely in and out for repairs.
As a woman, I will not be returning to this garage. They gave me a huge estimate and when they figured out I didnt have the money to fix it, they offered me next to nothing to buy it from me. Nice try, clown.
Recently had my newly purchased 2001 BMW in to get checked out. I wanted to make sure it was in great shape for the upcoming summer months. Kent and the team went through it and let me know what needed to be done. I had the suggested work completed and I have got to say...it is like driving a new car now! I am very pleased.
Kent was able to get the car in and repaired after it broke down.
Awful service. used car salesmen tactics and a sense I was being fed B.S I left and will not be back.
I love this place so much. They are very helpful and honest! I wont go anywhere else ever again! Thank you so much. I wish people were more like them.
I brought my car in to European autohaus and stated that my 2009 Audi was using oil and had a low boost code. It also had a broken coil spring. They diagnosed my car and told me that the PCV system needed to be replaced. I agreed to have them replace it and both front coil springs for a little over $2000. Less than two days after picking up the car it was once again low on oil and the engine light had come back on. When I brought it back they told me that sometimes the get bad parts and would need to replace the PCV system again but that it wouldn’t cost me anything. They kept the car for a couple more days, and when I went to pick it up they told me that it was going to cost a minimum of 3000 dollars to repair my car. They told me that it needed valve seals and although the seals were cheap it was a lot of labor. I ended up selling the car to someone very cheap with them understanding what I was told by European autohaus. After a few days the person I had sold it to had the Audi repaired for around 50 dollars. He had found that the boost controller was missing. The clamps had been slid down the lines so it did not “ fall off”. He drove the car around for three weeks with no issues. I feel that I was being taken advantage of being a young girl with my grandmother. The PCV system may have been bad but I was given an outrageous estimate for a simple issue that they should have been able to diagnose in minutes. A low boost code and they never noticed a missing boost controller.
Been taking my BMW to Albany for service. Not anymore. Had issues with my vehicle and didnt feel like making 6 hr round trip to Albany. Went to European Autohaus. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and honest in their assessment of my vehicle. After a few hours wait was happily on my way. My vehicle has a new home for all services. Thank you!!
Surely there have to be better, more honest, more customer-friendly auto repairs shops in the area.On Monday morning, I called to get an estimate to replace a window regulator in my car. The employee found the price of the part. Then, the employee explicitly said it would take two hours of work. He quoted me a price of $270. I accepted that quote, then he ordered the part. Originally, he was going to have me come in on Tuesday. But he asked me where I lived. Because I was staying 45 minutes away, he decided to have me come in on Wednesday, so that I wouldnt have to drive an hour-and-a-half if UPS was slow on Tuesday.Fast forward to Wednesday. I spend the 45 minutes driving to the shop. I walk in, explain who I was. I dealt with the same employee I spoke with on the phone. He says that he made a mistake: Even though he explicitly said it would take two hours to do the job (his words today, not mine), and even though he knew that labor was $100 and change an hour, he accidentally misquoted the price by $100. So instead of the $270 quote I received on Monday, I was now looking at $370.Heres the kicker: He tells me that he realized his mistake as soon as we got off the call. He further says he THOUGHT about calling me right away to correct his mistake, but just figured hed tell me once I got in.Now, remember how he didnt want me to have to drive up to Plattsburgh on Tuesday when there was a chance the part wouldnt be in. Of course, if the part wasnt in, he wouldnt make any money off me. But when there was a pricing error that ran in his favor, he was perfectly fine having me drive one-and-a-half hours. Theres a pretty strong implication here: He thought he had me trapped with a quack quote. He didnt. I walked away. You should too. Go somewhere else.
I enjoy the friendly conversation while waiting and always know Ill get the best service in town. Kent & Tom go out of their way to ensure I get convenient and superior customer support. I recommend anyone to stop by for great service, conversation, and a cup of coffee.
My experience with European Autohaus Inc was memorable and stress free knowing that you were actually being taking care of and thought of as a person and not a number. The owners and workers will always make time for you as in explaining to you the work needed to be performed.. They are honest and trustworthy, with that being said, you can leave and knowing your vehicle has been fixed the right way! I will refer all my friends to this company who makes you feel like family ! I moved here about 3 years ago and have been using European ever since. The customer service is unbelievable... being car less and no way to get home or back to work... They took the time to bring me to my destination. I can only express this companys workmanship in one word..AWESOME
Very good service. Good location, with a lot of space for parking. Competitive prices
Great service. Know their stuff. If you too have a quirky foreign car, this is the place. There is no other in the area. And dog friendly.
Very over priced parts. Was told multiple different things in regards to parts for my car each time things became more costly. In my opinion this business is run with questionable ethics.
I have been a client of the European Autohaus Inc. for over ten years. They are professional, honest and reliable. They are also searching for a new car for me.I cannot recommend the company more... Great people......
A pleasure doing business with an all male staff who did not talk down to me.
I will recommend European Autohaus to All! Ken, Tom and staff are professionals, very friendly, and know what they are doing. Thanks for getting my car in on short notice. I will be back!
Thomas and his crew at European Autohaus have worked on our Volvos for over 5 years. They are always honest and professional and I trust their recommendations and advice. We Just brought our 2005 Volvo XC90 in for an inspection and issues with the check engine light. They diagnosed the problem quickly and we were inspected and in and out at a fair price. I recommend you give them a try for yourself. A+
First big job EAH has done on my 1999 BMW 323i since I was happy to find them last year: Complete cooling service, including replacement of radiator and expansion tank, coolant pump, thermostat, hoses, clamps and radiator cap, and of course coolant, as recommended for BMWs at this age by Mike Miller, tech editor of, the monthly magazine of the BMW Car Club of America . Flawless work by Jeff, one of the techs.
This is a very professional operation. Their knowledge of my vehicle was thorough. Although we have moved for our retirement, I will always recommend the European Auto Haus to anyone seeking repairs in the Plattsburgh. Thank you for your great service.
Excellent and though care of my Audi! Friendly, courteous ! Extremely knowledgeable ! Go beyond service to auto, very up to date!
Best garage place ever been
Great cars wish I had enough money
The European Autohaus is one of the only places in town that can work on my European car. Im not sure if thats the reason that they take advantage of me or not, but Im basically trapped sometimes, depending on whats wrong with my car. I always make an appointment to bring my car in, but I never get it back on that day. Every time I take it in, its always, well, we were a little backed up today. Well, why did you tell me to bring in my car today? It always takes 2 or 3 days to get my car back.Another problem, and Ive heard this from others so I guess Im not alone, is that no matter what Im in for, I cant get out of there for under $500-700. They always manage to find something else, and it usually runs around $500-700, if Im lucky. Its partly my fault because I dont know enough about my car to dispute it. I was spoiled because my grandfather was a mechanic, and I never had to deal with this stuff before. Im looking for another place that can work on my car. I probably wont be returning to European Autohaus, unless I have absolutely no other choice. (~sigh~)
Brought my Audi S4 and my VW Golf R in for major repairs. Great Service! they under-promise and over-deliver!
The guy lied to me about what was really wrong with my car. He was rude, unpolite and unprofesional!
The best and most reliable shop in town! Highly recommend
Got my 1995 Volks Eurovan towed there on my way back to Quebec from New Paltz, NY. They identified the electrical problem swiftly, replaced the faulty coil and sent me home happy. Great job guys.
I do not recommend this place!!! I always received poor service and been overcharged. My Mercedes ML 500 has never been repaired completely. They are a waste of time and money.
I am getting service for my new Mercedes 350GLE and all others prior....!AT European AUTOHAUS INC since I moved to PLATTSBURGH 10years ago....I would recommend highly for any one with any foreign or local cars as well.!There is a qualified courteous staff always have help me in any times I needed...!Thank you so much for being here....! In Plattsburgh area...ITA BULLARD
Outstanding, just outstanding service! Convenient, reliable, helpful -- all the reasons that I have gone here, and continue to go here as long as I am able to drive my Miata MX-5!
The work was never done properly or on time and it was ridiculously expensive. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
Good honest guys, always tell me what needs to be fixed and what doesnt.
Always friendly with quality work.
Overpriced and just about wrong in every way
Scoundrel and a thief !!!
