Place is so cool! Its not your typical large comic book store Im use to in Denver which I think makes it better. Searching through the shelves really gives that kid like appeal of searching for treasures. I even found some French comics like Tin Tin and Astrics that is harder to find. Found some other curious looking books Ive never read before. They also have gaming books, gundam, dice, and some pins. The owners are super nice and love to chat. Would highly recommend regardless of where your heading.
What a fantastic comic book store! This place has been around for over thirty years! I bought my very first comic here when I was around ten years old. The owners are great, in fact I had a nice little chat with one of them while I was in the store a few days ago and she made a great recommendation that I have been enjoying very much! My only minor quibble: Masks are STILL required for vaccinated individuals
Love this shop, the staff are amazing, and no matter how long it has been since my last visit, they remember my name. Its the little things like that make places like Casablanca Comics stand out among the crowd.
The selection is always changing and they offer comics from all different companies, genres, and age ranges. Plus games and model kits, a real great store for all kinds of fans
The store has a great selection of new comics, back issues, and curated collections. The owner and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Casablanca Comics is a must stop if you’re in Portland, Maine. I’ll be back soon!
Great shop. Staff was super friendly and gave me some great recommendations. Highly recommend.
Needing something to file the time in Portland I decided to stop at the most in between comic bookshop from the Cryptid museum and our hotel. I am very pleased that turned out to be Casablanca Comics. The staff member on was just just what youd hope for, very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. When my older son was thrilled to see the newest Mighty Jack and Zita the Space Girl and Mighty Jack, the shopkeeper did not say, arent you a little old for that? No, he happily commented about the books surprise publish date. That experience tells you everything you need to know. But Ill also say they featured an inclusive and classic selection of comics and graphic novels. I bought Zita of course and a beautiful Korean cookbook Cook Korean! by Robin Ha and Katie ONeills wonderful Auquacorn Cove. Definitely worth a stop for anyone who enjoys books and comics.
Really awesome store with tons of comics/books/TCGs/and table top games. Staff is supremely awesome too.
Really nice place...clean, well-laid out...owner very friendly
Nice selection of new and old comics with friendly staff and lots of room to move around
I happened to stop by just for fun. This was my first comic book shop ever. The ladies there were very helpful and after talking to them I instantly wanted to own something that was old and cool to have. One of the ladies actually went through some boxes and helped me out.
Wonderful people! Super friendly and helpful.
I love this store and visit every time Im in Maine. Besides a great selection the staff is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly to chat with.
A Portland institution. One of my favorite comic shops around!
What a fantastically cool comic book store! I took my daughters to Portland for a comic/anime day trip. The folks working at the store very very welcoming and helped us find books for each girl, attentively and patiently. We bought LGBTQ tween comics along with standard Marvel fare. We went just yesterday and the girls are already begging to go back to the comic store in the city. Definitely returning the next time were down from the Midcoast. Thank you!
Awesome and unique place! We visited for Gundam model kits and will be back for sure.
Great place! The cashier there was friendly and the Gunpla had a great price compared to Amazon
Great place to find comics
Great people. They will go out of their way to find whatever it is you are looking for.
Good comics selection but not many collectibles or other things you might expect from a comic book store
Maines oldest family-owned and family friendly comics store. Its thoughtfully designed, and spacious, so its easy to view and peruse all the merchandise. Stocks all the popular ongoing titles, both mainstream, independent, and small press. Has an impressive selection of graphic novels and collected editions. Back issues are reasonably priced. Sells special boxes, plastic bags and backing boards for storing comics. Also has gift items and paraphernalia like tee shirts, posters, buttons. Regularly has special sales. Offers a pull service for regular customers. Selectively buys comics and comics related items. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Open 7 days a week; closed on major holidays. Also has a store in Windham, Maine.Casablanca Comics also sponsors a free yearly summer Comics Celebration, which showcases national, regional, and Maine-based comics creators.
Nice comic book store! Good for kids - large fun selection!! Brought my 6 year old and 4 year old and they had a blast picking out their first comics
The place was small but very nice. The lady was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful!Would definitely recommend :-)
Great little shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Little something for everyone (and their new space is just phenomenal). Definitely worth a visit to Rick and crew!
Seriously one of the best comic book stores Ive ever been to (and Im from NYC)! Very knowledgeable staff, the gentleman was very friendly and engaging. There was a lot of things here I havent seen elsewhere, and everything was very neat clean and organized. It had every element of a comic store I could ever hope for! Highly recommend. I wish I lived closer, Id be a regular for sure!
Lots of great comics here. The staff was knowledgeable and able to give recommendations based on what I was doing. I was looking at Oblivion Song by Robert Kirkman, and the woman working said to try it even if Walking Dead isnt my thing. Great recommendation! I loved being in this store.
My go-to comic store in the area.Located in the Old Port, essentially, Casablanca Comics has moved to a new location on the bottom floor of their original building, right next door to Anthonys Kitchen and Bull Moose.Originally, Casablanca was more a commercial store, and while it still is - theyve branched out and have lots of back issues to choose from as well as supplies for collectors and action figures/statues/other collectibles. The staff are all really kind and their new location is very open, clean, and welcoming. Give them a shot.
Wonderful store. Its not large, but they have a fantastic, well-curated selection. I discovered a great series that kept me entertained on the flight home. Great customer service too.
I came to Portland for a day with my siblings from California, and this place made us feel at home. There was a lot of good stuff to see and buy, and the man behind the counter was very nice. We chatted with us as we payed and was willing to help me check out some dice behind the counter. If you like comics, card games, dice, and good service, you’ll enjoy Casablanca Comics.
Casablanca Comics was a nice stop for browsing through comics and graphic novels. Its a little tucked away, but its in a good location and the store itself is pretty spacious. Good selection of comics and friendly staff. Store was clean and well-lit.
Great comic shop with a super-friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Everything is really well priced and organized as well, which makes coming here even better. I absolutely loved this place when we stopped in and spent a lot of time chatting up the guy at the counter. How much better of an experience in a comic store could you ask for?
I come down from Canada every November for the U.S. Thanksgiving and I make sure a visit to Casablanca happens every time. Ive chatted with the owner quite a few times and hes a great guy. Their selection of back issue comics is amazing and their Black Friday sales are unbeatable.
Excellent store and staff. It is a warm and welcoming place. There are lots of wonderful items to browse through. If you are looking for a new edition or an old classic, you will likely find it there.
Great presentation
Great shop. Lots of new comics, old comics and trade paperbacks. There was also an amazing looking young reader section. I could have spent a good deal of time searching there back issue bins.
My husband is crazy about their Gunpla display. Easily in the top 5 places to go for birthdays and gift-giving holidays. Very kind and helpful staff.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff, great sets and older comics, as well as all the great new stuff. The diversity of their collection is commendable!
Its a great place to bring your older kids that are into Marvel and DC comics. Its very affordable and they have everything yo u need
Came here with friends last week. Helpful staff, excellent knowledge. We all walked out with novels that were recommended to us and more.
A really amazing comic book store! The staff is always friendly and helpful and excited to talk about new releases.
I love this place!! Im in here at least once a week. The staff are super friendly and nice. They have a large variety of books and bags, boards and boxes. A nice selection of other collectables as well. Excelsior!!
Ive been going to Casablanca for many many years. I love everything about them. They always in stock and are extremely plugged in. Family friendly and just so much new stuff every time I go in. Theyve been at it for a number of years so they know their stuff. They also do a lot for kids and the community. Great place.
Great place
My friend and I are comic artists and we were pleasantly surprised to find a comic shop right in our path as we vacationed in Portland, Maine. Casablanca Comics is big (for a comic shop), well lit and well organized. Those are good things in any place, but they are rare and therefore even more impressive in a comic shop! The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful and seemed to be really in touch with the comic scene. I thought their grab bag idea was really cute and over all the prices were within normal range for comics.
Lapin and I came to this comic book store for a present. The staff was very pleasant and engaging. They have a wide range of comics, manga, display figures, and merchandise. They also have fun mystery bags of comics for a fix price. Although, be warned -- they do include some free comics and really old & random in that bag of mix goodies.
Great locally owned comic book shop. The best and only spot in the Portland area to buy gunpla. Dedicated and passionate staff. Very clean and organized store.
Very helpful staff with a wide variety of books. Helped me find exactly what I was looking for! Would definitely recommend!
This is a model of a well-run, friendly, inviting comic shop. The staff is always friendly and helpful, esp. Laura and Melanie. Its awesome clean, with a great selection of new comics, trades, graphic novels, books, and memorabilia. This place is special.
Located up the stairs from Bull Moose. Very organized, quiet shop. The only place I ever find the comics Im looking for. If they dont have it in stock, they are happy to order it for you, and call you when it arrives.
We are out-of-town visitors who come here to replenish our comic book stash, often taking them back to our hotel room with some famous Portland Potato Donuts to crack them open. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful plus there is no rushing you to pick your selection as you wander this cozy comic haven.
What cant be said about how good these guys are. Top notch people, top notch selection. Cannot recommend them enough.
Casablanca is one of just a few comic book stores on Portlands peninsula. Now located on the lower level of 151 Middle st, in the old Videoport space, it is wheelchair friendly. The accessible entrance is through a door in back of the building, to your left as you face the building from the parking lot. The store carries comics from all the big publishers and many indies as well. The larger space means more room for back issues. Look around for special boxes with, say classic kids, or war, or crime comics. There is a selection of graphic novels, Tintin and Princess Mononoki merchandise, mugs and pint glasses and other suprises. The owners organize one of the local conventions and support local comics creators. A subscription service is available.
The staff is so nice and they have an amazing collection of old and new comics
Family owned business. Informative, updated & a large inventory.
Really enjoyed spending an hour in here. Huge selection of movies, music, etc. Lots of things to look at with affordable prices.
This place is awesome. My go to for ANYTHING comic related. The staff are extremely friendly. You wont be disappointed !!!
Pretty good store, they have a decent amount to pick from but the overall selection is limited, unless you are a fan of the mainstream heroes. Store could probably use more filler items like most similar stores have.
Awesome store, and great staff! I go here for all my comic related stuff. And if they dont have something they will order it for you. Love this place!
Great store with knowledgeable employees. Excellent product selection, too!
Good selection and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Gave my friend a good recommendation when he asked to see queer and feminist comics.
Amazing and helpful staff with a great selection! The store is also very clean which you dont always find at a comic store
Great place to bring your family if you love comics
This is the best comic shop in New England. The guy there is very friendly and I love the selection of back issues. Cant get enough of 80s punisher myself. Check it out!
Friendly knowledgeable staff, decent selection.
I stopped by here while exploring Portland, and was very glad I did. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they had a great selection of comics.
I have been going to Casablanca ever since I was a little kid. No matter whos in the store the staff is top notch, helping you find the comics your looking for and even suggesting something you might have never read before. Its also worth checking their Facebook page, as they often have events with various authors and artists going on as well. I really cant say enough nice things about this place.
Great selections of current and back issue comics, plenty of collectables, and a very knowledgable staff. I highly recommend this place to avid collectors.
Staff is friendly but allows you to shop at your own pace. Prices are a little high on some of the Gunpla kits, but comics and trades are reasonably priced for a downtown location.
One of my favorite comic shops in Maine. Visit the Windham location too!
Very good selection of comics, very large and open area, and great and friendly service!
Great place for recent comics, posters, stickers, etc. Not much of a selection of back issues though (silver age).
Very friendly staff, awesome products
Awesome comic shop, great choices and amazing staff! Definitely stop by!
Great staff who cleary love comics. The guy who helped my daughter was really friendly and she had a great time geeking with him about the art in graphic novels.
Great spot for comics and graphic novels. Wide selection, great prices and they know their stuff!
My favorite local comics store. Fantastically friendly and knowledgable folks.
Alot of good books here
An amazing comic store with loads of back issues.
Friendly and knowledgeable. Good selection and great staff.
Great selection in an easy and open place to navigate.
They had the perfect comic for what I was looking for
Very nice selection of comics, figurines, posters, magazines, and glass cups! Best comic store Ive ever been to!
Great service the ladies here knew exactly what I was looking for.
Excellent selection and knowledgeable staff. Not just a merch store.
Good selection. Good prices. Friendly staff.
This place has a pretty good selection, but is a little smaller than places like Coast City. Also, the prices are VERY steep.
Bundle packs of back issues! Best buy in town.
Awesome place. Friendly fella
Congenial & knowledgeable proprietor. Hooked me up with a signed copy of Fight Club 2.
Reasonable prices, great variety of new and old
I am a regular there and they are amazing!
Always so friendly and helpful
Lots of choices and very helpful staff
Fun spot packed to the gills with comics.
Good selection for its size, just way to small
Nice collection of comics.
Best owner operator ever
