My family and I were traveling from Indianapolis In to Berea Ky then to Nashville Tn . Just as we pulled into Berea I smelled burnt oil, we pulled into the hotel and realized we had a transmission oil leaking. On Monday i took the truck to Richmond AAMCO. I had transmission oil and filter replaced before leaving Indy. These Guys were great!! Had a Tech check all possibilities (over filled from Indy)drained almost a quart of oil, cleaned the oil from bottom of trans and had me on my way. 5 STAR rating

In 2020 Ammco replaced the transmission in my old truck.Last week (June 2021) an 18 wheeler blew a tire that I could not avoid and it pulled a hose lose from the bottom of my truck. It was a transmission vent hose (I think... I am not mechanical). I drove it to the station and Warren walked out to greet me and see what I needed. I explained what happened and he immediately slide under my truck and fixed the hanging vent hose. I was back on my way in less than 5 minutes.They had a garage full of vehicles and were very busy but Warren took a few minutes to help me. It is rare to go to get mechanical work done and be treated honestly and fairly, I am 70 and have been doing most my own mechanical work for decades for that reason. Thought I would have someone else do the work for a change and was very impressed by the honesty and work ethic of Terrance, Warren and the rest of the crew, I will definitely go back to AAMCO transmission, Richmond KY in the future.

I called Chevrolet to get my 2017 Silverado transmission replaced or repaired. Mind you it only has 64k miles. It went out. They said it would be a 5 week wait and cost just over $8000.00. So I called Terrance at Aamco in Richmond. He was very professional, got my truck in right away and it cost half what the dealership wanted. Terrance and his guys are amazing!!! I would recommend them to Everyone!!!!!

Terrence will conveniently not provide the cost of service. He has a hot temper and is a poor business leader. Kept my car over 5 days longer than they said and performed jobs I did not okay. Wondering if I should have taken legal action.

So as you can read below, the owner is trying to say it was an electrical issue that happened with another shop. The car was running until the transmission went out. The only Shop that worked on that issue was Aamco. After I sold the car, the guy who bought it replaced the engine wire harness and the car was running again. The harness was apparently damaged during the CVT install.

We bring all of our vehicles to AAMCO. The owner is kind and easy to talk to. Weve dealt with a tree, a deer, a sixteen year old driver, and old wiring in an antique car. We wouldnt take it anywhere else! My extended family also brings their cars here before every road trip. Great place, great people.

Ive been looking for a honest and reliable mechanic/garage and Ive been to a few but decided to give aamco a try. I have a 89 chevy and started having trouble with the transmission not wanting to shift so I had people refer aamco and checked the reviews and see that people either love it or hate it so I figured Id give updates throughout my experience with them. I dropped my truck off on friday 6/12/2020, they test drove it that day and called and said that the rear differential was leaking fluid and of course the transmission not wanting to shift and step 1 was of course to take out the transmission and check it out. On 6/16/20 I called and Terrance said they had the transmission out but not disassembled. So far everyone i have spoken to seems really knowledgeable and nice. I will post updates throughout my experience to possibly help someone that may be in the same situation and are looking for a good affordable and honest mechanic.UPDATE!!!! Transmission shifts good but had trouble with Transmission leaking been back 4 times still leaking.

All have been very pleased with their experience; 3 were from Lexington while one DROVE FROM COLUMBUS INDIANA to have his dodge RAM transmission rebuilt on my recommendation.

Our car broke down on a Christmas trip from Georgia to Ohio at 4:00. Within minutes of pulling into the garage the whole crew worked together, got the part, did the work and got us back on the road. The guys were great and friendly, they even stayed after closing to finish up the work

I was traveling from Michigan to Atlanta Georgia when the transmission went out in my truck. Keep in mind this was Dec 26th 2019 and I was returning Dec 31st 2019. I googled transmission shops ans foind this one. I called and within 30 minutes they had a tow truck there and had my truck back at the shop. They gsve me a ride to the car rental and within about an hour and half I was back on the road to Atlanta. On my wsy back home on new yesrs eve I stopped and picked my truck back up. First class shop and did whatever they could to help me. Thanks sgsin guys.

If I could give this zero stars, that would be my rating. My cousin left her car with you in April. 7 months later, she still doesnt have her car. The owner Rusty has lied about this whole ordeal, and even been driving her car around. This is pathetic. My cousin has kept in contact and been given story after story. Wisdom says, disregard any positive stars previously given, and dont take your car here. Again, absolutely pathetic.

We have used this dealership multiple times for many different car problems. Every single time it has been fixed properly in a timely manner. This is one of the best car shops I have been in and they are especially terrific with transmissions.

A Tahoe I had just purchased had some issues with the lifters and the motor not working properly. I took my vehicle to Aamco because I have heard great things about them. Rusty had to deal with the warranty company to get the repairs covered. He took care of everything, kept me posted, and my car ran great after getting it back. I would highly recommend anyone to use Aamco if you would like to deal with honest genuine people who get the job done.

Finding a trusted auto repair shop can be hard to do, especially if youre not from the area. These guys know what they are doing and have reasonable prices. Will definitely use them again if needed.

It was a (5+) until I found out the Frankfort location had apparently damaged part of the exhaust. Went out of the way to pay cash and all I ask is for the owner to contact me to discuss possible reimbursement of my cost to have exhaust piece corrected. I’ve been going to Aamco for years- but I may have to rethink this decision next time.

AAMCO did a wonderful job on my Chevy Tahoe, I took it in and it was driving terrible and now it drives like brand new! Couldn’t be happier with the service or the quality!

Very professional. Polite and helpful. However 4hrs on the road and my car broke down. It was the same issue that my car was there for. What should have been a great day of being able to get my car turned into a nightmare. This shop is in Kentucky and I live in Georgia. I was stranded on the side of the road for 4 days with my little girl. Thankful someone who had seen us there for some days was kind enough to help us get home. So I guess this is a great shop if you live there. Travelers beware.

Ive been listening to my friend complain to me for the past seven months about how AAMCO has had her car and wont fix it or return the car. Best auto shop in Richmond, KY. We were 45 minutes from home when our transmission died. Rusty, the owner, helped us get the car towed despite it being late in the evening. Rusty and his staff have always given amazing service and pricing for the work done. I cant recommend them highly enough.

My friends car has been in the shop for more than half the year, yet it’s taken so long to fix but “Rusty” can drive it out gandervanting around town. One bad experience with a current customer, can cost you dozens of potential customers. Definitely wouldn’t take my car there, considering we all have jobs and children. I’m sure you’ll be reimbursing for 50% of the annual taxes, since the car has been in your possession for that long?

I used to live in Richmond and I let this shop work on my vehicles for everything. I since moved to Tennessee and had some major trouble with one of our cars after we moved. I called Aamco in Richmond from Tennessee and the owner had my car towed to his shop from Tennessee to help me out. Then, on top of that, he got all the work done very quickly. I had my vehicle back before any of my local shops in Tennessee told me they could even start on it. I highly recommend Aamco in Richmond. A+++

Talked to Terrence and was told to bring my car in and they would drive it to see what is wrong. I bring it in this morning, and Terrance tells me he can look at it, but there is no way he can fix it today as he has so many cars in the shop. I told him that information would have been nice to know while I was talking to him on the phone. I called a Transmission place in Lexington, and they said they would be able to diagnose and fix the problem today if it wasnt major. Told Terrance I was taking it elsewhere, and he told me to bring it back and hell fix it. HAHA!!! Yeah, right! He lost my business.

We are so thankful for this place. We had an issue traveling through town from Ohio to Florida. Our check engine light came on a few miles up the road and we got to their exit and stayed the night in a hotel. I showed up 15 minutes before opening without an appointment. They checked it and advised me that it was just a faulty sensor and that I should be fine to get home. With their advice we made the 13 hour trip home and havent had an issue since (well be changing the sensor out very soon). But in a position they could have really taken advantage of this traveler and his family, they were fantastic and had me back to the hotel in less than 30 mins. So thankful for them!!

The owner of this shop told me, after having my car for seven months, that he does not advertise, as word of mouth keeps his business going. This is how word of mouth works, Mr. Bray: People have a good, bad or mediocre experience from a particular business, they tell their friends, family, and acquaintances, and then those people tell their friends, family and acquaintances. Just now they do it with Google, Yelp and other social media platforms. (SIDE NOTE: Mr. Bray has left positive reviews for his own AAMCO locations under the guise of a patron.) The recent onslaught of reviews would likely fall under the category of word of mouth, which turns out to be a two way street.Mr. Bray also challenged me to a physical altercation not once, but twice on the morning of November 1st, 2018. He became irritated when questioned about an inconsistency about the status of my vehicle. The manager of the Richmond shop said Mr. Bray was running errands and wouldnt be in for a bit. Same employee said that Mr. Bray was actually out driving the car once he was notified of what vehicle we were calling about. Which is fine by me, I appreciate this shop finally test driving it before trying to give it back to me with it not working properly for a third time. Minutes later when Mr. Bray was reached via his cellphone, he said the car was at the shop, that the part had come in this very morning and that it would be installed and programmed at their shop. When informed that his employee had said he was driving the car, the subject was changed and Mr. Bray seemed agitated at our agitation. He then asked if I wanted my car fixed, taking a demeaning, hateful tone. I replied, in the heat of the moment, that I wanted the car fixed in (expletive) April (2018). This was when he made his first suggestion that I come see him face to face. The second challenge came after I apologized for hurting his feelings with an f-bomb, as he called it.Mr. Bray then told me that he was not going to get into a war of words with me after I questioned his story on the status of the part for my car that has been coming tomorrow for the last month.That was what happened this morning, this escapade started seven months ago. Mr. Bray finally apologized for the whole situation after I informed him that he had not shown the least bit of remorse or empathy. He was supposed to contact me this afternoon, as was his corporate consumer affairs director. Neither has made good on their word. This happens every time I communicate with any one in the organization. Mr. Bray acknowledges no culpability in the matter and continually blames it on the problems of the Danville AAMCO location, which he also runs.I wanted to hold off on leaving a review until I had gotten my car back, but I wanted to be sure and define word of mouth and maybe warn folks of the risk they might be taking at the Danville, Frankfort, and Richmond AAMCO locations. Also, I really have no idea IF Ill ever get my car back, so Ill strike while the iron is hot.

I own the Saturn wagon that was dropped off in April. Got to pick it up November 2nd, light still on, running the same way except now I also have a fried ECM and out $2,600. Long story, extremely short, Id find another shop to work on your vehicle.

And now I see her complaining again because the same problem she has been having and isn’t fixed yet and you still have her car.
