A refreshing used/retro game store for the Roanoke area. The Tech Exchange offers a variety of items such as used video games, tablets, phones, and even movies. While the selection sometimes seems to go through a dry spell from time to time, you will most certainly find at least one item that will peak your interest. The floors are clean and the shelves are neatly organized and theres plenty of room to walk around and discover a good purchase. However, it is not without its flaws. If you decide to trade in an item, you may find yourself walking out feeling as if you should have gotten more. But its a business, and I cant fault them too much for that.

EVERYTHING we got from here stopped working in less than a month… overpriced for used junk!! Better luck at the pawn shop, never have I bought anything from a pawn shop that stopped working! Won’t ever go there again. They don’t test their merchandise!!

Straight to business. They evaluate it and tell you what its worth. You say yes or no. How much was it worth sitting in a box in your closet? Nothing. It was worth nothing.Now, what is it really worth? Its worth whatever someone is willing to give you for it. Dont get upset when you walk over and see a PS3 selling for 119 bucks and they offer you 50 bucks. They have a light bill and employees to pay. Buy low, sell high. Thats business.But! You need money thats why you came here. And thats what they do.A pice of advice if youre selling tech: dont put it in the closet when youre done using it, then dig it out three years later and expect top dollar. The best time to sell it was an hour before you taped it up in that box and put it out in the garage three years ago.No complaints from me. Five stars.

Cool little store, don’t expect to get fair prices on any more expensive titles. You will overpay 90% of the time.

I absolutely ADORE this place, I’ve been coming here since it first opened up in Roanoke!The staff are always the best, they’re not constantly in your face like GameStop, and it always just feels like home when you walk in.Too many negative people reviewing out of petty, I’ve been coming in here for over 5 years and it’s still one of my favorite places to go.Keep up the good work you guys!

They have all the old systems. We picked up a Nintendo with the original super mario bros. In great condition. They have all the new stuff too. With very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

I’m not gonna lie came in to buy a lot of controllers and those controllers are clean as a whistle I mean the quality of everything was great and the customer service was great as well good job !!!

This store is a winning combination of friendly + knowledgeable staff and an excellent selection of games and accessories. They no longer accept modded or bootleg games, so you can have more confidence in what theyre selling. Their used consoles are in impeccable condition. The prices are notably excellent.Loved my experience here and will definitely come back.

Walked in to buy a laptop because people told me it was a good placed to get one. My 3 year old had to use the bathroom but the young kid at the register wouldn’t let my son use the bathroom. So now I’m down a pair of pants and headed to some where with a restroom available to toddlers.

This is such a great little store. I always find some sort of treasure while Im there. The folks who work there are super friendly and helpful. I also really appreciate that they respond back fairly quickly on their facebook page. There have been a few occasions where I messaged them to find out if they had controllers that I needed at the time. They responded back within the hour. which is great because its quite out of my way so its nice to have confirmation (as well as prices) before I drive all the way out there.

I would not recommend going there. They told me and my wife that they would give us one price for our laptops and then they gave us something totally different. Our laptops were in great condition. They are cheap skates. I can tell you this they will sell the laptops for about $150.00-$200.00. We will not be going back there again. No one should go there at all. This is my response to the manager. For your information when I walk out the door I was talking to my wife. I was not cursinge, for the fact I dont cuss in front of my kids. Secondly, your employee didnt offer more money and third, thats just like a place like that to take up for a ride employee. I work in customer service myself and there is an old saying, the customer is always right? So I want the rest of my money that he offered us, which is $90.00.

One of my favorite stores. I always find deals on video games, consoles and accessories that I need everytime Im there. The staff is always helpful. They sell pretty anything associated with electronics and typically have some kind of deals on games, movies, computers, phones, TVs or gaming consoles . Its one of the few places I wish I could visit daily, but then Id be broke! One of the few places that id strongly recommend visiting!

Great service fast easy and helpful

Awesome and extremely knowledgeable staff. I usually stop in about 6-7 times a year. This is my #1 go to place for used electronics, retro gaming systems, and games. The quality of their items is impeccable, unfortunately when purchasing retro games its a gamble. However tech exchange somehow takes that gamble out of the equation. I have never purchased a retro game from here and had it not work or not save. Also great place to drop in grab a drink and play some arcade games.

Not the best game store In Roanoke, and never will be. No where near close the best game store. In-fact the worst game-store with the worst trade-in prices and no knowledge (staff) Will not be back.

Great prices and selections of games that you want to buy either new or used, but if you want to sell them something they will give you a lot less than what it is worth. Most people there I have had good experience with, and have had no troubles with the items bought. The only thing I have against this place is the ridiculous amount they offer you when you bring in an item.

Best place to go to for all your technology needs. They have great deals on used phones, in new condition. My family buys most of their video games from there and we are always returning games there. Year round they have great deals and giveaways! You are always greeted by friendly people ready to help you. Very low prices and best customer service around! Highly Recommended!!

Went there this morning to sell a good bit of games. Joey and his associate were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend their customer service over any video game store within 100 miles of Roanoke. Very knowledgeable and very caring of customers wants and needs. And if your into retro stuff, its like walking back into time with their setup up of arcade games, posters, and their selection of retro items. Killer. Customer for life for sure. Contacted the store to sell my entire game collection. One of the owners contacted me promptly and was very professional so I decided to trade in my entire video game collection to them. While at the store several of the employees went non stop for hours testing all of my trade ins with no stops or breaks all while being very professional about it. They gave me a very fair price for my everything!......I have been shopping here off and on for years and will continue to do so. I highly recommend this store. GREAT JOB GUYS!!

Great customer service and love the prices

I came there for the first time this week after canceling my contract with Verizon. I was able to sell them my phone for a great price, and they hooked me up with simple mobile and phone, and now Im paying 1/3rd of what I used to with Verizon and I get unlimited Data!! Im going to start coming to them for all my electronic purchases and questions now.

Great deals and savings of games, consoles, and controllers. Their stock ranges from the NES, Dreamcast, and N64, all the way to recent releases like Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4. They also have other electronics, like computers and phones. A must visit if youre a die-hard gamer that likes to get the best deals... and then some!

Large store with a pretty large amount of used games to choose from. However, a small amount of 8-bit and 16-bit games. May have been a slow trade-in area for those types.

Dont waste your time if you are looking into exchanging or selling broken or damaged items. The website does say they take broken items and also have a list of things they do not take in. My items were not on the Dont Take list. So I emailed them to inquire about my items, so far it has been four days with no return. So I went by there to get them to look at my stuff. They said no to all, which wouldnt bother me if they were on the do not take list but they were not. Got no real reason why then ignored immediately while I was still standing there, glad I didnt have anything else. I wouldnt even bother with them.
