I like the store. Nice and neat. Lots of different stuff that you need. Friendly employees. But...the internet says one thing, you drive across the city to your only local Ace and they dont have it. Theres one 11 miles away that would have been great customer service if they could have worked w them to get it shipped to there Salem Office but well see today when I call. Didnt happen in store. The reason for the low star rating.

This has been my go-to place since moving to Salem. However, I was surprised and pleased to learn that they are also a great Stihl dealer and have one of Oregons best mechanics on staff. Brent has repaired two of my chainsaws, and been very creative and cost-effective, as well. This is just another bonus to a terrific store with friendly, helpful staff.Since my last review, I was back and a Sales Manager Cameron Elliott, took that extra step. I was waiting for a bar for a chainsaw that had been on back order. He checked what they had, what chain I had bought, and sorted it all out. I left with a bar that worked; all cured...and only because Mr. Elliott took the extra time to review and work with me. I cannot be happier with his and the rest of the staffs care and service.

Hands down the best hardest store in the valley, its not even close. Although you may pay a little bit more at Ace hardware than a large box store theres a few things that youll never get at the other one places...1. They always have knowledgeable staff at Ace hardware. And if they dont know they immediately get on the radio and get somebody over there that does.2. If youre in need of plumbing or electrical parts this is your place, huge selection and although you wouldnt want to go there to purchase a whole house with a wiring or connectors, theyve always got a couple of whatever you need.3. Service from the moment you walk in the door is impeccable. Some days it almost feels like youre shopping with a concierge. LOL4. Its always clean and well organized.5. The employees take pride in the areas that theyre assigned to and you can tell by how well those areas are maintained.

Super helpful knowledgeable staff, Ive been a regular for the last 4 years with help from consistent staff that have continued to assist with all the different issues a diy or contractor may face.

Neighborhood hardware store, I almost always get greeted as I enter even when they are busy. The staff are very helpful, although if you ask where something is there is a bit of a knowledge gap often. The important thing is they try, and it is a great experience. This location is not my primary Ace but its definitely the helpful hardware place!

Great, prompt service. Just what I was hoping for.I had two little projects where I needed very particular bolts, washers, and nuts. As soon as I approached the hardware section, I young man (didnt get his name) approached me and asked if I needed help. Had he not approached, I probably would have spent 20 minutes floundering. I explained my problems and he helped me find solutions.He was extremely helpful. Helped me find what I was looking for, offered alternative solutions, and even got tools to test our plan. I heard other employees and other customers having similar conversations all around me.I got exactly what I was looking for, in terms of product. And, the service was above and beyond. I will certainly be back with my next problems.

Recently purchased paint for a dresser and was very pleased with how spot on the color was. The paint associate was very helpful, efficient and knowledgeable.

Usually really friendly and have what I need today I went in there and an older heavy set woman just holds a box of masks put at me and then grabs one with her dirty hands and tried to hand it to me. What is the point of the mask if your dirty hands have been all over it? Why not use your words if you want me to wear a mask? Rude.

They can be a little pricy but I still love going here. They have amazing customer service and easy return policies in the entire you need to return something. Everyone always offers to help find you what you are looking for and the lady in the garden section always is answering my plant questions!

Went here to get some vegetable plants and planters. They always have the best looking plants here they take good care of them. Now that the weather is getting better Ill be doing alot of gardening.

Matt and Mark were FANTASTIC with cutting and programming my car key. They worked quickly and were able to fit me into the schedule. Amazing customer service! Would definitely recommend.

We went in yesterday, to get a chainsaw and some other needed items. Ace gave us really amazing customer service, and even put gas and oil into the saw, took us outside, and showed us the basics of operating. I cant think of another store that would have done that for us. We will be customers for life. Ace is our store now! Thanks Ace!

If you have a need, Ace Hardware can most likely help you. Recently I have done landscaping, electrical and pool work. I found all my needs satisfied and the staff was almost over the top helpfully. If someone is not there to help you just look to an adjacent isle and ask, if they dont have the answer they will direct you to a subject matter expert.

You may pay a little more. However you can get help right away.

I managed to get in there on Superbowl Sunday and it saved me from having to drive way across town to Home Depot. The prices are a little higher than Home Depot but it saved me a lot of time. They have plenty of people working and they are knowledgeable and polite.

First off, every Ace is a locally owned franchise. Every time Ive ever been to an Ace Hardware, the help was as friendly and knowledgeable as could be. Before I came out this time, I shopped online and compared with Walmart. I found the price and selection to be better at this wonderful, small local hardware store.

I was genuinely surprised of the amount of people that they have in their trying to help you find what youre looking for. They put lowes and home depot to shame. There appeared to be 8 people with Hayes hardware of this working diligently I asked one where certain item was not only did he tell me but he walked me right to it.

The staff is amazing! Several of the guys put their heads together to help problem solve a project my 15 year old grandson was working on. They went the second mile by drilling a hole in a metal piece to make sure the clamp would hold. Its really a great feeling to know,your local hardware store cares!

One of my favorite places to shop. Good plant selection, you find some rare stuff there sometimes. The gift section is lovely and theres no place in town with better customer service. Of course, I go here for all my home-fix needs too.Plumbing, gardening, light switches, grease, dremel, bbq, candles, motors..they have what I need almost without fail. In the rare times they dont have what I need: they tell me where to get it.

Great place to shop for your quick home repair and project needs without having to go to your big box stores. The service and knowledge of the employees exceeds your home depots and lowes employees ( dont ask me how I know, unfortunately). Ive placed special ordered items from Ace and they dont forget to call when it arrives, matter fact they will continue to contact you in making sure you know your item has arrived. This establishment has all elements, pertaining to its building as well as merchandise, that should encompass a more than amiable experience. Its an absolutely beautiful store. Unfortunately, heavy bias and prejudice was not only felt but verbalized directed towards my man and his friend. They both entered the store with a specific item that was difficult to find elsewhere. They were immediately greeted, but not with a welcoming greeting. The employee that made his way over to them asked them what they were doing there and with a skeptical condescending tone, what they might possibly could need. Feeling this tension from the moment they walked in the door, they were followed down every single aisle that they searched through. Eventually, the item they had sought out to purchase from Ace was found and to their surprise an employee insisted on taking that from them and bringing it up to the register until they were ready to purchase anything else they had in their possession. This item was under $15. In disbelief, both grasped for some type of explanation for being treated like criminals with no means to pay for anyting at all. They decided to look around due to the store being so plentiful, however they continued to be followed and harassed. Eventually when it could not be ignored and was completely obvious to a point of other Shoppers noticing. My man asked the employee, who had posted up on some boxes with his elbow relaxed and tilted his head, as if he had been watching a movie, why are we being treated this way? Do I look like a thief or something or have it written on my forehead? To which the employee answered, directed towards our Hispanic family friend, you dont look like a thief, but your friend sure does. They also asked why they had been followed down every single Isle of the store and the employee told them that he was asked to not let them out of his sight. When I heard of this mistreatment, it honestly made me want to break down in tears. If Only They had known that each gentleman they were judging had over $1,000 cash in their possession, at that very moment in time, and probably could have purchased a lot more than a $15 item. But after this altercation, they made their way to the register, paid for the miniscule item they retrieved and left to never return. Personally, I will never shop at a place that makes people feel uncomfortable for looking a certain way, being a certain color, a certain age, or anything for that matter. Im not trying to besmirch the entire store or every employee that works, I just dont dont understand how this type of behavior could ever be condoned. I cant imagine how embarrassed and defeated both of these men felt after this trip. I understand needing to keep your loss prevention at a minimum but this was just uncalled for and utterly unfair. Hopefully the story is a reason to incite some type of change that is positive. No one should feel persecuted due to the choice they made 2 wear a ball cap, some Nike sweats, or feel inferior as well as intensely stereotyped due to the color of their skin.
