I rarely believe ANY 5 star review, and frankly dont read them. Because theres NO shop in the world, that everything is perfect.That said, let me tell you my experience. I recently had a new barrel threaded for a muzzle brake at this shop. I dropped the barrel off on Thursday. He told me it would be done when he got back on Tuesday. I thought to myself Tuesday? Its in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Where else would you be going? But I kept that to myself.On Tuesday, about the end of the day, when I hadnt heard from him, I called the shop. He had forgotten about the barrel. Strike 1.So he found it for me, and started the job. I dont remember if he told me it was done that day, or the next. But he already had 1 strike for forgetting about it. I go down to the shop when its done, and pick it up. I go to get out my credit card, and .... he doesnt take credit card. WHO CARRIES CASH today? I had to find an ATM in a not so safe part of town, and take out $150 at a convenience store, go back to the shop, and pay. Strike 2.I got home, installed the barrel, set the head space, and went to thread on the muzzle break. It wouldnt go on. I checked, the thread specs I ordered on the muzzle brake (5/8 x 24)... no kind of way could I make the brake thread on the barrel. I thought it could be the brake, so I ordered a different brake with the specified thread configuration... same thing. It starts to go on, gets a half a turn and stops dead. And thats strike 3!Now I have a threaded barrel, that I dont know the specs on, but I am going to have to take it to a different smith, and see if HE can fix it. AND pay him too.Oh and whoever mentioned the condition of the shop.... I concur. Its a mess inside. No wonder he forgot about my barrel.I would not recommend this shop.

I have been going to Dale Wise guns for over 15 yrs. Felix the owner is the best gunsmith in San Antonio. He will take on the smallest to the largest gunsmith jobs. He has made a custom firing pin for an antique weapon toreplacing a screw in my gun site and never have I felt I was over charged and his workmanship is the best I have ever seen in San Antonio.
