I cannot fathom how there are negative reviews on either Mr. Hamiltons communication or speed of shipping. No problem to Alex or from him. He is by far the fastest Gunsmith I have ever dealt with who is a Guild Master. Fast communication by phone and email and he took more time than he should have to walk me through my project. Consummate gentlemen. These are inherently busy folks, BECAUSE of their talents and in demand. Expect to wait, and it is worth it. Alex was ahead of schedule and what he quoted as cost. I wish more folks operated like that. He literally shipped my pistol in the middle of the Hurricane and I had it the next day. Happy to field any questions. Alex Hamilton is a master craftsman! Got my Browning Hi-Power back today, a full week earlier than expected, and it’s beautiful inside and out. He fixed a double-fire problem no one else seemed to be able to isolate, the Novak sights are perfectly installed, and the action and magazine release are smooth as silk, all at a fair price. Highest possible recommendation!

He may do good work, but for me, he couldnt even receive a FedEx package in three business days over five calendar days. Alex seemed businesslike when he emailed a quote for the work I needed done. The day I shipped, Thursday, I called just to let him know it was on the way and to give him a credit card number. He says, yes, if I get it on Friday, it will probably ship back to you the same day.After the first nondelivery (11am on a Friday, no adult signer), I emailed Alex the next day to be sure I had the right address (I knew I did). He jumped on me, said my call on Friday caused him to drive 25 miles across town and be late for a fishing trip. I never called him on Friday. I guess he had me confused with someone else. Monday, no delivery, but the reason is a little vague (not scheduled). Tuesday, no delivery at 3pm due to business closed. Now my gun has been bouncing around in a truck and sitting in a warehouse in San Antonio for five days. Attempts to deliver have failed. FedEx returns the package to me. Great $50 one way, and Im still fighting FedEx over the return shipping.Someone told me Alex is semi-retired and spends his time in other businesses, a polymer mfr, and something else. I dont know. I can only describe his email demeanor as erratic, and his business hours unknown. If you live in San Antonio, and you can personally deliver to Ten Ring Precision, that may work, although, if my FedEx experience is any indication, you may have to make more than one trip. I have no clue about the quality of the work. The good news is, he hasnt charged my credit card. Incidentally, in spite of our email correspondence and taking down my credit card, he has not tried to contact me to find out where my gun is.

Seems like a little balance is needed here, with respect to these other two reviews. First of all, Alex Hamilton ranks among the top gunsmiths nationally, and is a founding member of the American Pistolsmiths Guild as well as a former President of same. It would be a real chore to think of anyone in that profession more respected, or more honorable. Ive done business with Alex for better than 10 years now, multiple 1911 pistols built, repaired, or modified, all incredibly superb in function, performance, and beauty (hey, no reason a good gun cant be pretty too, is there?). Im up near Ft Hood, once in a while if Im down in San Antonio Ill drop a gun off, but mostly use FEDEX. Never once have I had a problem, and never once has Alex not been on top of it. But more to the point of professionalism and honor, which seems disputed in these other reviews, a few years back I sent Alex a 1911 to do some work on, one part of which was front strap hand checkering. When I got it back, there was no charge for the checkering. Naturally, I called him to find out why, and he told me his tool had broken lower down, there was a flaw, and that he couldnt in good faith charge me for his mistake. I sure couldnt see the flaw, until he told me where and what to look at. As far as I was concerned, it was still a beautiful job. Now if that dont say it all, then Im a suck egg mule. True, he doesnt suffer fools lightly, but remains a true gentleman in all respects. Perhaps a couple of gut checks and self reviews are in order here. --Gator 6 Sends

Dont waste your time or money here. I dont want to waste the time writing a review but this guy is too much nonsense to deal with. I think, he caters to his friends first and then takes care of whoever is left. I took 2 diff mags on a gun and the ammo in one mag was not firing properly and the other was fine, i got the gun back and he had fired the wrong ammo and still charged me, and then the other ammo still was jamming...took it somewhere else and its fixed...Im just saying dont waste your time unless you know the guy,.

Very helpful. Took a lot of time to be of assistance when there was little benefit to him. Highly recommend them.

Added a safety to my glock 20 plus a couple of other extras. After 10 months they still function perfectly. Will continue to send my guns to ten ring from South Carolina for custom work.

Not sure i would ever return here. i had him work the receiver on a compact .45. i took 2 clips of ammo in, one clip was ammo that worked and one clip was ammo that was jamming. when i picked up the gun he had fired the ammo that was no t jamming and he tolkd me it fired fine. It didnt seem to care to spend any amount of time talking to me about it.So i have no problem taking my business somewhere else.

I met Alex years ago being from San Antonio. He is a true gentleman and a true professional. Having spent 18 yrs in SOF I can say he does amazing work and tells it like it is every time. He has worked on my guns and I have purchased guns he has made, every time they were flawless. I concer with the COL.

Alex has had a revolver (trigger job) and a Kimber 1911 (drift the rear sight) for over 6 weeks. He said he nicked the cylinder on the revolver and had to have it reblued. He said it would take 2 weeks - that was 5 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I sent him and e-mail and asked the status of my firearms and he sent at curt response. I intend to send him another e-mail in 2 days, which will mark 2 full months he has had my weapons. He may do good work, but he is not a pleasant person with which to deal. If I ever get my weapons back, I will not go near his place again.
