Great place to buy sports stuff. Also rentals for bikes, snow... The staff is the most friendly and knowledgeable of any retail place Ive been to.

I’ll put it simply - I owe my recent triathlon success to Steve, Steve and Jason. I showed up at Sports Basement the night before I was due to fly out for a race and needed help breaking my bike down. These three went above and beyond to ensure that my bike was appropriately disassembled and safely packed. And they did this all in record speed while being super friendly and engaging. Without their help I would’ve been stranded without a bike to race on! More so, when I came back from my race I needed help reassembling and they were quick to jump in and help me, while making sure I understood exactly what they were doing. Would highly recommend the bike shop for your mechanical needs.

Awesome gear store with really good prices! Particularly like that they have way more clothing selection in tall sizes than REI down the street!They also were the only store that had a particular type of special AT ski boots in store!

Oh man, this place is the best! We were riding bikes to the Chase Center for a date night and I realized my back tire was really low on air. Thankfully we swung by SB and found Steve T who made sure both tires were good to go AND volunteered to install my new U lock since I was carrying it…(planning to install later that night). Flawless, fast. What a gem!! Every time we’re there they are so down to earth, helpful and friendly. Love renting gear during ski season too. Thanks Steve! See you again soon!

Always super friendly staff. Store is organized and easy to find items. Only issue is like most of retail in inventory. Not a whole lot of inventory on hand for my particular size women shoe in 6.5. Hope this improves in the future.

Its always a fantastic experience at Sports Basement. I have purchased all my running shoes and gear, cycling gear (including my favorite BMC), camping treasures, and we are just now starting to dive into owning our own snow gear. We thought wed get a jump on this season and even though the displays were not fully set up yet at Bryant St --- the staff was so willing to fit us. My husband and I tried on about 10 pairs collectively and walked out with what we were looking for without spending too much.

Demetrius was very nice and helpful and was able to help me pick out the perfect snowboard boots for me. Also gave me some recommendations on boards as well as bindings!

This place is great!, Super large layout with many floors to explore. Give yourself a few hours to look around. I like the refill program for camp fuel and I love the shoe section. Everyone was helpful.

Last week I took my bicycle in for a much needed tune up. I was expecting to leave it there for a couple hours but Aaron, the mechanic, told me 20 minutes! He was super cool de la and had my bike running like brand new. I will definitely bring my bike back to him because he has the skills to pay the bills! Thanks again, Aaron!

What a wonderful place and resource in the City! I told Janelle about my plan to bike 135 miles around the bay, and they took the time to let me know all the different nutrients that Id probably need, different food options, and even personal recommendations of bars that theyve tried! I recently did a bike fitting at the store on Bryant st.Matt was the one who helped me. He was very detailed, super friendly and very knowledgeable. I have been ridding a second hand road bike for a year now and something did not feel right. Matt help me fully adjust the bike and replace two pieces that made the bike more comfortable for my body and posture.Long story short, I took the bike for a ride the day after and it felt like a different bike, no more back and arm discomfort. So THANK YOU Sports Basement for your ongoing stellar service, and thank you Matt for guiding me through this exercise.

This is my favorite sporting goods store in SF! I went in to buy a sleeping bag and pad, hoping to find something high quality that would last me a long time. The store had tons of options and the staff was super friendly and available whenever we needed support. Demetrius was especially helpful with sharing the pros and cons of different options and making recommendations based on our budget and needs.I definitely plan to come back here, especially when making a big purchase where I might need some advice.

I biked over a screw which managed to stick itself into my bike tire and very quickly inhibited my ability to bike anywhere. I took my bike to Sports Basement and was greeted immediately by Janelle in the bike department who went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me out. Janelle not only recommended a tire with puncture-resistant technology but also took the time to test out a mess of spare tubes I had at home to see if any of them were usable. We found a winner and Janelle installed my new tube + tire in no time. Ive taken my bike to Sports Basement anytime I need a tune up or new tube/tire/advice and have never been disappointed. This experience was no different - go see Janelle!

Favourite sporting goods store in SF! They have everything you need for camping and sports at great prices. As a tennis player, also love their racquet rental/demo program - a great way to test out racquets before you buy! Ricky helped us out when looking for racquets, and was super knowledgeable and helpful with helping us select the right racquet.

I’ve found the bike shop to be courteous and meticulous. They are knowledgeable and clearly take pride in their work. I find it exception these days that I never need to double-check their work or do the finishing work myself (e.g. tightening bolts to torque spec).

I recently had a fit with Matt (Leo). Despite my amateur status, Matt spent about two hours with me checking and adjusting every aspect of my bike fit. I didnt even know there were that many adjustment points! I really felt like Matt took my experience and goals into account and set me up for success. HIGHLY recommend!

Came in here with my girlfriend to check out some snowboard boots around closing.Paul helped us out, he was patient and explained what we should look for. He then assisted both my girlfriend and I to find the perfect shoe.When we couldn’t find our size, he gave us information on Snowfest and told us we should take our time deciding because a Snowboot is quite important.All in all, left empty handed but armed with alot more information, thank you Paul and Sports Basement!

My 2nd bike, Trek hybrid, had become uncomfortable. The bike was causing back issues. Since I’ve had prior success w/fittings from Sports Basement I booked an appointment with Matt Leo.Matt spent a good hour conducting—proper measurements—testing prognosis—applying adjustments—explaining technique—finally, adding parts that would provide the proper leg+arm extension that I need for biking.I’ m a tough customer. But, I have to say, Matt Leo is a professional and knows bike mechanics. Am very impressed + now using this bike more than I have in the past.

Impressive bike repair shop — Bryant St SB is my go-to place to get my mtb running smoothly. I find the staff there always eager to help with mechanical issues/questions (no attitude), while also offering great information on bike maintenance. The brake repair I needed was done in a timely manner—they had all the quality parts in-store, and quieted the squealing brakes, yay!

The security guard was very rude, verbally loud and abusive. I was putting my mask on as I walked in with my family, 2 boys, 8 and 12 years old and my wife, and he started YELLING about putting my mask on before I walk through the door.He was very rude in front of my wife and children. This was on Saturday, September 25th around 4pm. Totally unnecessary. He even physically threatened me. Totally embarrassing and unnecessary.I will NEVER shop there again and will tell EVERYONE and anyone that asks me about purchasing any type of sporting goods NOT to shop there and why.

Jason is the reason why Sports Basement will be the place for all my bike needs. I brought in my wifes ancient Kona full suspension mountain bike for some repairs before we decide to take the kids out. Let me start by saying Im always hesitant to bring anything to repair shops because of the cost and dishonest business practice but Jason changed my mind. He was very straight forward and provided great recommendations. It wasnt exactly what I wanted to hear but it was what I needed. I was willing to throw money on the bike to replace certain components but he suggested doing what I could to get it working again instead. Ill see you soon Jason!

Hands down the best sporting goods store in the bay area. I wouldnt say the most knowledgeable staff, but very friendly and the company is very generous to the community. Make sure you sign up as a Bassmenter to not only get a 10% discount off everything, but also chose a local school or charity that also gets 10% from everything you buy.If you dont find what youre looking for, they will ship it in from another store for free.

Security tag was on shoes when they arrived in the Midwest. Emailed the company for help. Email response was youre on your own, try not to tear your shoes. Return policy is on your own dime. Apparently it doesnt matter if it is company error. If there was a zero stars it would be that. Theres nothing wrong with not doing internet business. There IS something wrong with doing it like this!

I went in to buy snowboard boots, not sure exactly what I wanted but knew I didn’t want to spend a lot. The person who assisted me was very helpful and knowledgeable. He offered many options. I left with a great fitting boot at exactly the price point I was anticipating.

I love going to my local Sports Basement store, they always have very helpful and friendly staff. I can find the things that I want there for very good prices. They have great sales and if you find a better price elsewhere, they will match it and then still give you your basementeer discount on top of that. I purchased three pairs of shoes for my children for football. They were out of one of the pairs of shoes I had ordered and did not contact me to see if I wanted A different pair they might have in stock. Very dissatisfied with the customer service here. Today is practice and my son has got to go with no football shoes. Had I known I would have purchased them elsewhere prior to practice but instead I gave it the benefit of the doubt they were still on their way.I reached out to customer service to see what happened and they told me they had been out of stock. Sincerely very unsatisfied customer

Love both the City Sports Basements, Potrero for proximity Marina for Parking. as always, great hiring always provides great staff... i guess the series of obstacle courses over a lake filled with sharks interview process weeds out only the best candidates :-)

The store is fantastic. People are friendly and helpful. Its a great experience. ONLY reason cant give it a give is that items are over priced. The Goggles were not worth $40 and even with discount, they are not great. Just the least miserable option. Id like store to expand goggle options. The hat was not as warm as it seemed it would be and was also expensive.

Because this is where you need to go for all of your ski boot needs. Hes not just friendly when he suggests boots for you, but hes honest, and hes willing to work with you to find the best fit for yourself. He doesnt care about sales at soprts basement, he cares that you have the best experience whether its here, or elsewhere.Cant recommend going to this sports basement enough.
