From the moment I walked in, I was very impressed. Upon first observation, the store looked very clean, orderly, and busy. But, not so busy that I was left waiting to be served! Realistically, I waited maybe 15 seconds before one of the staff helped me. During our interaction, the young man was very helpful, attentive, and didnt try to rob me by selling me the highest priced item; instead he worked with me to find the best item within my budget. Plus, other staff members were very friendly, and made sure that I was being properly assisted. Every visit Ive made to this store since, has been the same. Great store, great family, and great products for reasonable prices. I highly recommend this store to everyone I know.

This is THE PLACE! THE family is so beyond dope! The process of getting a bike is awesome, these are the people guilty of turning that experience EPIC! GOOD PEOPLE, PRICES, AND EXPERIENCE. Dusted off our bikes and dropped off to Hyland for much needed tune ups. Took some time to land drop-off appt due to waitlist, but well worth the wait. Bikes ride beautifully, just in time for the 4th of July weekend!

We went there to look for a e-bike. Kevin provided a very detailed explanation on the products and help us do several test rides. Highly recommend this place when you are looking for a bike!

This is by far the best local bike shop in the South Bay. The family is friendly and accommodating and they are very experienced. They keep the best stock they can and they have lots of styles to serve the various needs of the community. E bikes, kids bikes, mountain or roadie... or just a fun cruiser or hybrid bike! I have bought my bikes from here for a few years now and I love coming back. Busy on the weekends but go on a week day and have your pick of the selection and ask all the questions you want - every one of them will be answered in a kind and friendly manner. Super friendly and non-pushy staff. I got a used bike from here. They let you do test drives in the parking lot and even helped me load my bike into my car. I knew very little about what kind of bike to get and they explained it easily to me. Would highly recommend.

Got my general tuneup and brakes and rotor replaced. Excellent quality of service, bike runs very smooth. They were professional in such busy times. They put me on a wait list first and then called me when they could service my bike. Explained all the work that would be done and gave me the cost upfront. My rear derailleur hanger got bent after I picked up the bike, brought it back and they fixed it for free. They take pride in their work.

Good getting a good service, dont know what happen to this family establishment but its down hill services. Maybe the employees are picky who they serve. I bought my first road bike here many years ago and came back for a MTB and didnt receive the same service. So for a great turn of luck, I got a awesome MTB at SPORT BASEMENT in Campbell with a great services with no fuss on the fun test ride, store is only a few minutes away, lots of stuffs to browse. I’ve bought 3 bikes from here. Every time, they have been absolutely helpful. I just got my Trek DS2 delivered today and man they provide good service. I constantly bugged and annoyed Phil for delivery specifications, and yet he was so nice about it. I have taken my other bikes there for service as well, and every time, the best service! I would give them far more than 5 stars if I could!

Excellent customer service, I bought my Trek Neko 700C about 5 years ago and has been a great bike, I love it, I took it back today 8/13/2019 to replace the tires, (need thicker tires for trails) and customer service was great as usual, also bought some fancy lights for the wheels, they come with batteries, but when I got home I realized one light had the batteries almost dead, I came back and they happyly replace them with no complain at all, this means Hyland Bikes really loves its customers, also bought a great cycling jersey.

I didnt just purchase this bicycle to leave sitting in my garage. This MTB really is being put to the test. Its going through mud, rain, steep hills and tight curves and, a couple wipeouts. Hyland Family bike treats my bike like a family even if it is not bought from them. The store staffs are friendly, willing to help, quick and professional; resolve my issue in 20 mins which took me 2 days to figure it out.

This is the second bike we have purchased from Hyland, and highly recommend this shop. Knowledgeable, friendly, and honest, with a good range of brands in both bikes and accessories.They have a nice little lot behind the store that is perfect for test riding.Tyler helped us out today and was awesome. He helped our birthday girl find the bike of her deams!UPDATE:We just purchased our fourth bike from Hyland (this one for my youngest daughter), and my wifes first pair of bike shoes. The staff here is just fantastic.We got a bike my daughter LOVES, and fits her properly. The friendly crew made sure my wife got the right shoes for her feet, and the right cleats for the bikes at her Soul Cycle studio! They even made sure the cleates were properly installed, and told us how to adjust them if needed.

The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Will definitely return in the future.

I took my grandsons mini motorcycle here to have the tire replaced and they did an excellent job. Because, I actually purchased the replacement tire from Amazon and took it to them only for the simple installation; which I paid $50 for.Prior to going to them I had searched high and low and couldnt find anybody qualified, capable and/or prepared to do the job that I needed to have done.So finding them was like finding a needle in a haystack; truly a gem 💎 to behold.Unfortunately the repairs were completed during the time of the initial covid outbreak.However the employees at this; I believe family owned business were prompt, courteous and responsible enough to notify me of the available timeframes associated with the the closure of their location; in response to the emergency that was confronting the nation.And, within a couple of weeks I was able to put on the proper PPE, meet with the associates and retrieve our motorcycle.Within the last week. Ive since gone back to drop off his bicycle for similar type repairs; of the inner tube and tire. And, it appears as if they are currently using a wait list type of method to determine when theyll notify you to bring your merchandise in for repairs.Which honestly to me seems like a pretty effective way to manage the business and the situation; as best as possible; to help avoid getting everyone sick from over exposure from unknown items brought into their location.So, Im sure that whenever our name does come up theyll do an excellent job as they have in the past.🥰

I brought my Specialized Tarmac in to help with a list of overdue maintenance items: Bottom bracket bearings, rear hub service, wheel bearings, head set bearings, new shift cables, cassette and chain.All of the staff I had the pleasure of dealing with were very knowledgeable, helpful and honest, the mechanic got it all done in a day and a half. He saved me money by cleaning the head bearings and re-wrapping the old bar tape (as requested), they only charged for what needed to be done, no up-sale or needless extra costs Ive dealt with from other places.I highly recommend The Hyland Family for all your biking needs and service, the mechanics are very skilled and take pride in their work!They are now the only place I will recommend, and the only mechanics that will work on my wifes and my bike.

I just moved to the area from the Midwest and was looking to buy a bike. I had visited a few different places that sell bikes, and I noticed the Hyland Bike store while driving by. So the other day I stopped in as I just wanted information on what is the difference between buying one of their bikes versus me buying one from a Big Box Store. Kevin was very helpful and knowledgeable and explained to me the difference and never once said you should not buy from the Big Box store. Kevin listened to how I would be using the bike and also about some injuries I am recovering from so he knew which bikes would be best suited for me. So I went in just for information gathering and left with a bike and accessories, I wanted Baskets and such. I bought a Electra Townie Original 7D EQ . I am very pleased with my bicycle and I will have many years of delight with it. I have to say Kevin was excellent in helping me, as was his Sister Melanie. As this is a family owned business I also got to meet Bill, Kevin and Melanies Dad. I cant say enough on how well I was treated and will make sure to tell my friends, family and anyone I meet go to Hyland Bikes when you need a new ride. I give them 10 starsBeth

Very kind and knowledgeable employees that value their customers regardless of monetary exchanges. They offer a vast variety of reasonably-priced bikes, and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable whether you are looking for a new bike or merely component parts. I have been in the store many times to have bike tune-ups, and they are always very friendly and willing to help. This is the real choice in the South Bay and possibly further for a family-friendly, family-run bike shop with a lot of heart. Highly recommend.

This review is based on the customer service via Facebook. I think it’s a great idea to utilize this site to market their store and lure customers by doing preorder prior to receiving delivery. However, their customer service is MEH – they definitely didn’t go out of their way to accommodate and answer your questions. They want you to call (which the phone line is BUSY all day) and be at the store when they open at 10am on a weekday!!! It sucks for out of towners who are looking for bike as you make the 40 miles drive and NO GURANTEE YOU WILL TAKE HOME A BIKE!! Understood, it’s a family business so maybe they are short staffed, busy, etc…BUT I’m hoping their business is to serve their customers. I didn’t get that based on my interaction with their social media employee. The least they could’ve done is ask for my phone number and call me back during their down time. They don’t really care as they are riding the bike shortage wave. I get it, it’s business but when this time pass and inventory is at the same level, those people that got a bad taste in their mouth, will not recommend this store.

I just bought my first road bike at Hyland and highly recommend this family run business! Everyone I met was super friendly! I had absolutely no idea what type of bike to look for and Melanie was so helpful and knowledgeable about giving me recommendations and showing me accessories I was interested in adding. She even showed me how to remove my tire to properly lock up my bike since I had never done that. The time she spent with me going over everything was super helpful and I appreciated how I never felt rushed in my choices and she didnt try and push any extras on me. What is also great is the shop even offers classes on how to change a flat tire, how to get comfortable with your new bike, etc., which I think is great! Pass on the large chain warehouse stores and go to Hyland for a great experience in purchasing your bike!

Dropped off my 1987 Trek 2000 Aluminum bicycle for a tune up and rear tire/inner tube installation the other day and received it back within 24 hours with a couple extra miscellaneous parts added too that I didn’t even ask for, like replaced valve caps and a handlebar cap that were missing when I brought it in. It was a nice little extra on top of an already quick and friendly experience.I would easily recommend them to anyone looking for bicycle service.

I want to thank Melanie, Bill, her brother and Bill Sr. for accommodating me on a moments notice. I went metal to metal on the rear brake rotor and pads and was ready to do the same on the fronts on my 2012 Giant Talon 29R from riding the awesome mining roads in the Cl;ear Creek Management Area about 30 miles due east of Pinnacles National Park.Since this is an area that the EPA has closed due to asbestos issues. Youre allowed 5 days per year to access the area. I had two days left, when I blew the brakes out on the downhills. I had business in San Jose, and the hook was their hours. Only Bike Store that opens at 9a. I rolled in at 9:30, asked if they could fix me up and Bill said yes and as I was driving back at 11am to check in, I received a text saying the bike was finished! Bill jr. went over with me the break in procedures for bedding the brakes in and I, of course, didnt have that time, so I did it on the downhills! Bike was flawless! Additionally, the seat adjusting bolt snapped on a downhill and I called them up and they shipped me a new one, At no charge! Never missed a pedal in the 335 miles of riding in that amazing place.Awesome Service and Quality Parts.Regards,Scott

Had a last second need for a rental and was so lucky to find this place. They got the bike ready for me ASAP. It was a really good fit and a great ride (I took it for about 40 miles down to Santa Cruz). Bill Sr. and his daughter (I never got her name) were super accommodating to my needs. I dont know when Ill be in San Jose again, but if I am theyll be the first place Ill go to for bikes!

After unsuccessfully going to three other local bike stores looking for a specific tire size, I pulled up to the Hyland Bike Store the other day at 5:58 pm (they close at 6:00 pm). Even though the staff was busy helping a few remaining customers and pulling in the display bikes, I was assisted, courteously and promptly. The staffer found the right size tire I needed at a very competitive price, ordered it for me and I was on my way in five minutes flat. Good customer service; good prices; good product selection; good store; theyve earned my business!

I honestly cant say enough good things about Hyland Family Bicycles. My husband and I found them by accident and I am so glad we did. We were promptly greeted upon arrival, and treated like we were their only customers. Several people stopped in while we were browsing, and the staff knew most of them by name. I noticed they treated EVERYONE like they were the only customer, even though it was a lovely day and a lot of people were bike shopping. I wasnt sure what I wanted, and they took the time to talk to me, explain things and answer all of my questions. This is a very nice bike shop. The staff will treat you the same whether youre buying expensive hardware or not. I bought a bike here and they were very patient throughout the entire process. We tested the bike in the parking lot and were never rushed. I cant say much for maintenance (never used them for maintenance) but I have no reason to believe they wouldnt know their trade.

These people are ridiculously nice. Even after you buy your bike theyre always happy to see you and help you out with any questions you have regardless of whether or not youre making another purchase at their store. Truly kind a happy to help. I chatted with them for 20 minutes about the bike wrack I bought (not at their store) and they helped me set it up on my car and get my bikes back onto it after my free bike check up at the one month date. Just menches over there. So glad we bought our bikes from them.

We were referred here by a friend. My husband is doing the Aids Life Cycle ride for the first time and needed to get a bike we bought on EBay fitted. Bill, the owner, was very helpful. We told him about the Lifecycle Ride and he told us that, although he would be glad to fit the bike to my husband as best he could, it really wasnt the right bike for him. We are totally new to biking, so Bill explained what my husband really needed. We decided that the bike from EBay would not work out for him. Bill showed us some very well priced options and my husband left with a new bike, fitted to him and ready to begin training. Bill asked that we bring the bike back once a month for 3 months to make adjustments and, although we live in Pleasanton, were happy to do it. We find Bill and the other people in this shop very knowledgeable and helpful. The shop always seems to be full of happy people! Im on my way to San Jose right now for our last adjustment before the ride. Thanks, Bill and staff, for all your help and great service!

I went into this shop because they had quite good reviews. And I bought there demo bike Giant Anthem 29r full suspension. I was there once more when I had issues with frame suspension bushings. And frankly I do not understand why there is so high review. They did not have any mtb helmet or bicycling shoes. But mainly I did not see this friendliness which everybody was talking about. I felt quite bad there and I personally will never go there again.

I always have a good time at Hylands. If u ever need to ask a ? or need to see how something is done there is always someone there to help.

Having just moved into the area, I wanted to buy my wife and I a couple of cruiser bikes so that we could leave the cars in the driveway. I quickly found two bikes I liked, test rode them, and brought them home to suprise my wife, all in matter of about 90 minutes.I then bought some lights which I installed. One was not working right, so I took the bike in, they replaced the light for me and lock-tited the mounting bolt, no questions, no charge.My wife also decided after our purchase that she wanted a rack for the back. I called them, they ordered it. It arrived in 2 days, we rode over, they installed, again no charge.Everytime weve been in weve been greeted with smiles and friendly conversation. To me these are all definitions of customer service that make me want to go back again and again.Thanks, Hyland!
