I work at Wyandotte Animal Hospital. We needed a door knob fixed or replaced. Between the time I called them and he came out to fix it, was about 45 minutes. The gentleman was extremely professional and courteous. He knew his stuff. Fixed us up right away. I used this company before for my home and now for the business. This company will always be my go to company.

Lacks customer service. Randy is awesome! He deserves the star. As far as the old man he obviously hates his life & projects it through not being able to communicate. Rude!!!! His daughter owns Fudgeys Ice Cream shop on Dix in Southgate. Hope she didnt get his hate for human race.

Other place didnt have a common car key. American had it. Copied my broken key quickly and walked me through how to program it. Job well done and solved the problem. Would definitely recommend.

Lazy service. They know what they doing but I’ve been trying to get this guy to come out on spot and fix the lock for three days... all I get every time is “oh I can’t do it today, can you call me tomorrow?”..... LAZY SERVICE

The owner was very friendly. He quickly programmed my key fob. I was so thrilled I ran home and brought my other vehicle to get its key fob programmed.Reasonable prices and friendly service!

My Front door lock was sticking really bad! Took it off and brought it in, 5 minutes later he replaced some parts and it works great, Im happy because it would have been 200$ to replace it.

Okay so I keep seeing all bad reviews about this company and I really don’t understand why... I can personally say that the moment I walked into that store, it felt so nice and you can tell they’ve had business for years. I went there to get a new Keyfob replacement. All dealerships were wanting $160 for the Keyfob and $65 extra to reprogram it! I did not want to spend that much money. This place... Mr. Walker, got my Keyfob replacement and reprogrammed for $100! People need to understand that when you walk up to the counter, mr walker is listening he’s just also taking care of what he needs to do to keep customers happy and on time with repairs. Please don’t take it personal if he is turning his back on you while you’re talking, he is still listening! I will always come back to this shop for any key/locks repairs! I recommend them 100%

I waited five hours for this company only to have them cancel on me at the last minute. They are very unprofessional and it seems as though they could care less about their customers. I’m very surprised they’re still in business conducting themselves the way that they do. This company is no stranger to bad reviews, I would give them a zero rating if I could. Unless you wanna tie up your entire day only to be disappointed my advice is not to use this company.

I have been going to this place for years this is the best place in town to get a lock fixed or a key made. I have never had a problem with them. I see people posting on here about prices no one is forcing you to use their service If you dont like the price go elsewhere.

Came in to get a duplicate made for my car before a road trip. After finally getting attention (see other posts about not being acknowledged) and discussing what I needed, he said Im busy, come back in half an hour. I had some errands to run, so this didnt seem like a big deal. I came back half an hour later and even though he remembered me, said Ive got a lot to do. Come back in 45 minutes. This didnt work for me, so I asked if theyd be open in a couple days (being a holiday week, I wasnt sure). He said yes and looked at me like I was crazy for even asking. Then, his pal behind the counter said no you wont and he didnt even acknowledge, just went back to chatting with someone else. I walked out. Wont be returning to find out if theyre open

I was three hours from home with no car key for our sons vehicle. I called and was surprised when they said 150-200 to make a new ignition key with a chip--I thought it was going to be worse than that. Another locksmith told me 300-350! Their mobile guy was out to my location in less than 10 minutes and had a key made in about 15 minutes. They saved the day for us!

Refused to help get me in my house after locking myself out. I live 2 minutes from their building, said he can’t leave the shop. Offered $200 tip to get him to close the shop for 20 minutes to drill out my lock and nothing more. Still refused. They don’t like money and don’t have any customer service abilities. Asked about other places that could help me and they offered no help. Last time I used them the guy that came commented about how he wishes the guys in the shop weren’t so lazy. AND I AGREE! FIRE THEM! :D

Went in one day and showed the man up front my car keys, said to come back in a week and he’d be able to duplicate it. Came back the week after only for him to tell me he didn’t work with my type of car key. Not very professional, and will gladly spend my money elsewhere.

These guys are great Locksmiths. Old school guys thatll tell you like it is. Explained to me how the rollers, pins and security pins work to make a lock better. They have a great product.

Called American Lock and Key last month to change a few locks at my business. All was good. Today my key was stuck due to a loose cylinder. I called them and they swung by and fixed it. They are the best. Earning long term customers with this type of service.

Offered to come by on his way home instead of having me wait until tomorrow. Friendly, caring, & professional.

My, smarter than me, Jeep this morning alerted me that my key fob was damaged and would not start my car. I called American Lock and Key by a suggestion from a co worker . They came right out to my house (car was unable to start without fob) and fit and programmed a new key fob for me on the spot. And they were cheaper than the dealership. Always a plus right? $150.00 and Im back on the road in less than 2 hours. Perfection!

GREAT SERVICE, VERY GOOD PRICE, AND the 2 guys in there WERE VERY POLITE EVERY TIME IVE BEEN HERE. First 2 keys had a problem and they fixed in within a minute and apologized for it. Top notch guys, plus they even had original Ford key blanks and thats a definite plus. 5 STAR!!! Dont listen to the other BS reviews saying they were rude, theyre only rude to rude people and I dont blame them! TOP NOT SERVICE, thanks again!

I had a great locksmith come to my business. They guy who answered the phone was gruff, but Randy was awesome. He came out within 20 minutes of my call. He fixed a doorknob on my commercial building that another locksmith said was unfixable and that I had to replace the entire door! I had an excellent experience today.

Not very nice people answering the phones.I called in around 9 am and they said they where sending someone out it is now 1 pm and I had to call them and ask if they where coming out and after the guy told me he would be there shortly and I thanked him he just hung up the phone like i was a bother to him. I dont to these reviews but This was not good service.

I locked our offices file cabinet. I called them and someone was out in less than 15 minutes. The cabinet was old as dirt and the lock wasnt getting picked easily so the guy went back to the shop and made us a key and it worked perfectly!!! Even gave us an extra!! I am so happy we did not have to bust the lock out to unlock our files. Super nice talented people. THANK YOU

I see a lot of negative reviews. It is my belief they just need something to eat. I went in today twice. They gave me advice the first time the second time they completely took care of my issue. If they was grumpy it is due to the fact you was pushy when they was busy. 5 stars plus. Thank you for everything

I would recommend you stay clear of these people, especially if you dont like poor attitudes. There are several other complaints posted about these cranky people. I called and asked the price of having 2 keys made for a deadbolt if I brought in the lock itself; I was told $10. When I arrived I encountered 2 of the most unfriendly people I have ever come across. I had to explain what I needed several times, then one of them just threw a ticket on the counter and told me to come back tomorrow. When I came back next day one of the same guys was there with the same nasty attitude. He snapped at other people that were in the store as well. He had the keys made but then told me the price was $25. What happened to the $10 I was quoted? He made up some excuse and told me to take or leave it. Why are these people still in business? If you like dealing with bad attitudes and getting ripped off, this is the place to go.

If I could give these guys no stars I would. Any good reviews they wrote them there self. They try and charge me $30 just to come out to me, then I ask how much to unlock the door the guy says there going to tell me when they get here couldn’t even tell me a price. Then once I hang up the guy called 1 hr later and still asked for the money for the driver lol. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THESE GUYS. The most you should pay is $75 anything more is a scam You Welcome.

If it was possible to give zero star rating i would the shorter man with grey hair and glasses has no knowledge of electronic ignition cylinder i am not a locksmith or even close to it and i knew more than him i asked him to rebuild my ignition for my 2000 monte carlo because my key would pull out and the ignition was just all around wore out sometimes my car wouldnt start because all the connections in the electronic part of the tumbler would not be making good connections the man tells me that he will rebuild it but it wont fix my problems because according to him once the ignition goes forward its done its job that is true on a standard ignition but not an electronic he said i have and electrical problem so we went back and forth and he still argued with me so i left went to the junk yard spent $10 on an ignition and a key put it in and wouldnt ya know my car starts every time i turn the key so i returned to him to show him that what i was saying was true and he proceeded to continue the argument that once the key is forward its done its job even tho i had him test my ignition and he seen it wouldnt start. Bottom line i will never call this place even for a new house key i highly recommend seeking help elsewhere

The man that came out was very nice i give him 5 stars, he came and did his job an even let me watch n showed me how he cuts keys and all. On the other hand the boss/man in the office needs to learn some manners. Hes very rude n talks to old ladys like complete garbage. I was so mad at how rude he was to my mother on the phone that i was almost half tempted to head up to the office and have a chat with the man my self. But in the end karma will get him. So ill let karma do its job. Id advise not using this place n give your money to someone with more mannors and respect.

The person that is usually working the counter .. is very rude. This man will not even respond back and say a simple Hello when you come in the door of the business and greet him with a hello. Ive been in customer service for about 17 years.. and this service is Horrible!! I even brought it to his attention respectfully, and respectfully said Hello again, ..just in case he didnt here me, although I was pretty sure he had. He, looking right at me, still wouldnt acknowledge the greeting, Period!! His only response both times to my hellos were.. What can I Do for you? .. After that.. I told him never mind, .. Im a customer, and its rude for you to treat your customers this way.. If your customer speaks to you.. youre supposed to speak!! .. Never mind!! ...As was about to leave right back out, because of course, at that point, he wasnt getting a penny of my money, ..apparently, one of the two man in there he was chatting with felt the same way he did. One of them annoyed that I had something to say, spoke out and said, He Said what can he do for you? ..the second gentleman then told me to Have A Nice Day (in a who cares kind of a way). Also I must add, that as I was expressing my concern with his behavior, I remembered that he did the same thing the last time I went to get keys made. I had overlooked it then when I didnt here him greet me back, because I thought that maybe he just didnt hear me. ...but I will NEVER use this place or recommend Anyone to this place ever. Ive never been treated this way at a business. Something is obviously seriously wrong with this man. I dont know what it is... but you dont treat paying customers like this. Im pretty sure when his family says hello, a police officer says hello, or someone he respects says hello. Im pretty sure he knows how to say hello to them. Im am grateful, that this is not the only Lock business in the area. I will not patronize any business where the owner, or people who work there is not willing to acknowledge me as a person.

Went in to make a few Keys. The 1st key I asked for the guy was nice and made the keys. When I asked about the 2nd key being in the restaurant business EcoLab puts in my first aid kit on the wall. He tells me I had to bring the box, when I said it was on the wall he said well next time dont buy a cheap lock and you wont have this problem. The lock and key is for my back up for my first aid kit which was supplied by EcoLab. The guy didnt have to be rude.

The guys that are working there have been there for years and they know their stuff. I was looking for 2 pad locks and went to multiple store before stopping in there. This should had been my first stop because they always have what I need.

Very helpful, theyve been around for years. They are deeply knowledgeable about any type of lock.

This guy was a total jerk! Had to beg him to come out and unlock my truck. Once at my security gate, he refused to show his I.D. so they refused to let him in. Dont waste your time with this company.

I go here for work sometimes when I dont have the right blank. The guy at the front desk is extremely rude every time. Like be being there is an inconvenience and that has better things to do. Just the other week I went there for personal keys because I couldnt find anywhere else with the blank. I told the guy after he cut the two blanks for me that they were not cut right. His response. Bring it back with the lock and show me that it doesnt work okay ass hat this is for my motorcycle. Not the most convenient lock to bring up after work. Also I just told you the cuts didnt go through look at the damn key, run it again and humor me at least.I would not recommend this place unless you have no where else to go.

I was locked out of my car for 4 hours in the cold with my 1 year old son at a downriver shopping center calling multiple so called locksmiths who all turned out to be foreigner skam artists instead. So i called American Lock And Key in Southgate, Randy responded to my initial call within fifteen minutes. He displayed an excellent and honest attitude. Very professional and the best price around, by far. I refuse to use ANY other locksmiths. I recommend American Lock And Key to everyone. Thank you Randy and American Lock And Key.

Bought a key for a van from this place. Key fob portion stopped working within a handful of uses. Went to use the key portion so that we could at least get into the van. Found the key was never cut! Brought key in and this place argued like nothing else claiming we didnt even by the key there. Finally did cut the key for us and it didnt open the door. Brought the key back the following Monday and ran into more stubborness from the place. This time the original recipt of puchase was brought to prove we did indeed buy the key from them. We do not recomend this place terrible customer service and workmanship all in one crappy package.

Horrible, there rip offs, I was over charged and the man broke my lock. Dont call these people you are better off breaking your lock yourself. I wouldnt refer them to anyone.
