I went to online reviews for help in choosing a place I felt I could trust. I narrowed it down to three places in the Southgate area then called each one for a quote. Allen answered the call and was friendly and listened to what I thought my car issue was. He gave me a quote and a timeline of how long it would take. When I brought my truck in I checked it in with Joe, who just like Allen, made me feel like I had picked the right shop. They finished my truck ahead of schedule the week of Thanksgiving. When I picked up my truck Joe says bring the truck in before your cross country trip back home so we can look at it and make sure everything is safe for you and your family. It’s great when you meet people that care. Great shop in good location. Took my car in for oil change and to check out my tires. The wait was about an hour so I walked around the area. Grabbed a bite to eat and came back and sat in the waiting area. The workers were all friendly and my car was finished. They pulled it out and it was ready for me to just drive off. Great place! Definitely recommend

Great so far. Took very good care of me and my vehicle. Lowered higher end sports car and they had zero issues with it being lowered and had all the proper equipment and knowledge to handle it. 2008 Ford Focus SE/Came in for 3 engine mounts and a vacuum leak. Turns out the vacuum leak was a flex pipe, and the motor mounts are $250 each. 3 hours, 2 motor mounts, and a $150 flex pipe later she runs like a dream. No more loud starts in the dead of winter, and no more shakes like she’s withdrawing from her last hit of methadone (she was screaming before, now she’s happy as a clam).

Finding an honest mechanic is similar to finding a unicorn. The professional and friendly service here is top notch! They call and discuss options for vehicle without pressure to get a better sale. My son also had his car repaired (last year) and has had zero issues with it. If you are looking for great service, great price and honest repairs, this is the place to go We will continue to be customers of this business!

After 2 1/2 days in the shop, we got no where. They couldnt find out what was wrong with the car, . They lied, and said that their master mechanic came in to look at car, and it was the timing belt. Lie...I watched from across the street during that time and car had not been moved. Just wish they had been honest, instead of wasting our time. Car had been there 4 times in the last 3 months.

I read about this place and after seeing so many good reviews decided to give it a try. For just a brake job I was charged nearly $1000 dollars and that wasn’t even for the entire car. All this just to drive away dealing with much of the same problems. Just do the work yourself if you can. I’m very happy for the other people who had a great experience here, it would figure I wouldn’t be one of them. Complete rip off.

I had an issue with the heater in my vehicle. After visiting a nearby shop and getting a quote for over $1000 . ( I am on disability) I stopped at Southgate Auto. Mike was working the front counter. He had vehicle checked out recommended replacing thermostat and flushing heater core. I agreed a now have heat and saved hundred of dollars. Mike was polite,informative and kept me updated. This shop is great!

My timing belt went on my 2011 vehicle, instead of Alan and his staff JUST slapping another belt on, they inspected EVERYTHING and discovered that there was metal pieces inside the motor and transmission. They worked with my warranty company and ordered me a new/used motor and transmission.I would be a wreck trying to figure things out if Alan and his wonderful staff werent top of things. Thank you Southgate Auto Center... For giving me back my truck!!!

They told me I had to either rebuild my engine or just get a new one because of an oil leak on the manifold. We went to another place to get their opinions and they told us the gaskets on the manifold just need to be replaced, so we had them replace them and it’s been fine since.

This review for 2/1/20. This is a great shop! These guys go over and beyond the call of duty of customer service. Theyre good and honest people and thats hard to come by these days. They fix your vehicle in a timely manner. The prices are fair and if for some reason your repair is held up they will communicate the problem to you. This will ALWAYS be my go to place for my repairs. One last thing thats great, is that the shop is open on Sundays too.

Hands down the best shop in the downriver area extremely polite staff very knowledgeable mechanics this is a place where you can come to and not have to worry about getting ripped off or being charged for work that wasn’t done. Your car will be done right here and while you’re getting your car serviced you can relax in the lobby in very very comfortable chairs and watch the tv, coffee, water, and juice are also available. Trust me if you want your car treated with respect and done right come check this place you will not disappointed.

Had some serious electrical & steering problems with my Mercury Mariner, got 3 estimates and they not only beat the others by hundreds but they did the repairs within a day which included removing the steering wheel and replacing a hard to deal with alternator.
