I have taken my car here now on two separate occasions. Each time they got the repairs done quickly and at a good price. My most recent repair has my almost 10 year old car running like new. If you need some work done on your car, I would highly recommend getting it done here.

This shop does incredible work. Ive always brought my car there since I came to Tallahassee, and they have done excellent work on two different cars Ive owned. One 2004 Ford Taurus, and one 2007 Subaru Outback. This time, David and Ben both did some work on my Subaru Outback wagon after a transmission seal broke. They and I all agreed that it was time to do some more extensive maintenance on the engine as well.I had no doubts that David would do a great job getting everything running the way it should, but I was still amazed by just how thorough and precise he was. The fuel efficiency has dramatically improved, the trademark fluid leaks most Subarus have are completely gone now, and in general the car performs so much better it almost seems impossible. So far, I have had no issues with any work theyve ever done for me.And Ive never seen the engine of a 14-year-old daily-driven car look so clean. Certainly never a car Ive owned. He got every speck of buildup off of every part I can see, and when he showed me his progress partway through, I saw that even the parts that cant be seen now looked brand new. He even replaced clamps, hoses, and fasteners that had been missing or incorrectly placed since before I got this car.After extensive work on the motor, timing belt, transmission seals, power steering, and numerous other components, they got in touch to ask if they should go ahead and replace the old worn brake pads in the front, and the bad battery. Since they were doing so much more already, they worked out a good deal and I told them to go ahead. It was done a few minutes later, and I cant recommend this shop enough. Its absolutely the only place I want to take my car for engine repairs.It helps to go talk to them in person. Theyre all great people and they love what they do. They really care about doing the best work you can get.

I came here around August to get my A/C fixed and I remember Andrew was really great! Got everything handled and fixed in an exceptional amount of time. I was super excited to come back thinking I would receive the same service and It was the complete opposite. I dropped my vehicle off at 9am with Randy and was told that If I left it there they would be able to look at it. They dont answer the phone all day, cell nor shop number. It was 3pm and I still hadnt heard anything from them in regards to my vehicle. I went back to the shop and my car was in the same spot I left it. The lady at the front told me she couldnt tell me what was wrong with it because she doesnt know about cars, but she assured me it had been diagnosed. I left with the thought that they had at least diagnosed my car. I still hadnt heard anything at around 5pm (they close at 6pm) this led me to go up there again. Now the lady is rudely stating that shes not sure if they looked at my vehicle because there was another jeep similar to mine there. I just asked them for my keys back because at that point I didnt even want to do business with them. Theyre confused, looking for my keys and trying to figure out who checked me in. Randy comes in and theyre asking me is this the man that checked me in I said yes. He said he doesnt remember, I filled out paperwork with him and all. Everyone started looking for my keys. Randy finally found them in another jeep that they were working on! I wouldnt trust them with my car at all. Customer Service was TERRIBLE! The way this situation was handled was TERRIBLE! They were very disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude. When Andrew was there, I probably wouldve recommended this shop but I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money with people who are respectful and do good business!

They charged me over $1100 for fixing anything else but not the issue for which the car was brought in to their shop. Complete disappointment, stay away from this place.

I really had high hopes for this place with how many positive reviews they had. Maybe I am one of the few who got the short end of the stick. Went to diagnose a check engine light after driving a long distance. Was told it was my spark plugs even though I just had them replaced (100,000 mile warranty) 2 months ago. I went through with the $500+ repair, only to get it back in worse shape than when I brought it in. The bumps were still happening and now the car wouldnt shift and even shut off on me at a stop light. I brought it back and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. I happened to be driving by with a friend a day or two later while my car was there and saw it sitting in the parking lot so we turned around to see if it was done, which it was. No call or text on that. Dont bother calling the phone number, theyll never pick up. I drove maybe 20 feet off the lot and the car immediately shut off on me again. After taking it back for the 3rd time, they ran a diagnostic while I was there and figured out it was a computer error. They said they would take it out and see what was wrong with it in an hour or so. A full day later and no word, so I went in to check on it myself. They, of course, had looked at it and didnt bother telling me, and said it had fried parts that needed to be replaced. Hopefully my car can make it to a more professional repair shop farther away...

If you need to get your car fixed in Tallahassee, COME HERE!!!! They fixed continuous problems in my car that several mechanics in the past haven’t been able to fix and stayed overnight to fix it since I was supposed to be driving out of town the next day! David is the BEST. He explained to me everything that was wrong with my car and how he fixed it and was soso nice! Never going anywhere else again. 10/10 recommend

These guys have saved me from being scammed by other auto shop chains on multiple occasions. Honesty goes a long way and its great to finally see an auto shop that has that attribute. Great work, courteous techs, and very reliable. They will not try to bs you. Ill be telling everyone I know where to take their cars when something goes wrong.

I drove from Indiana yesterday and halfway through my trip my check engine light came on. I was completely unaware of what to do and not being from around the Tallahassee area, I googled mechanic shops near me and found Capitol City. The reviews all checked out so I stopped in and asked a million questions because I had NO idea where to start. David was the first person I came in contact. He immediately brought my 16’ Buick Regal in, jacked it up, and diagnosed the problem. My transmission was throwing codes and there were a couple things that could’ve been wrong. He gave me affordable options for what we could do for my car. I had a short time that I was able to stay here before I needed to drive all the way back home. I told him I did not have the money to completely replace the part that was needed, however he did not care. He refused to allow me to drive all the way back to indiana with the condition my car was in. He fixed my car at an affordable price and had me in and out within hours. The entire shop was so welcoming, offering me something to drink, and allowing me to lounge in their waiting room while they repaired my car. I am a 21 year old female who has no back ground knowledge on cars and was very afraid somewhere would try to sell me on things that were not needed, this shop did not! They kept me informed and even taught me the simple things like checking my transmission fluid without judgement. They educated me on the types of fluid that my car will take and how to find those answers. I could not be more thankful for the professional, caring, selfless, and absolutely outstanding work that I was provided with.If you’re looking for mechanics that will be honest, transparent, and accommodating this is the place to go!

So thankful for this company! Twice during our daughters first semester at FSU they came through for us. The first time her brakes went out and they fixed them for us but the second time her alternator went bad just as she was driving home for Thanksgiving break. We told her to drive straight to their business to see if they were working on a Saturday. The shop was closed but they were in the garage and came out and fixed her car on the spot. They could have easily turned her away until the next business day but they did not. They stopped what they were doing, went and got the part and fixed the car within a few hours. Thank you. Our daughter has 3 1/2 more years at FSU and you will be our go to mechanic.

Since I am a college student (and a woman) I have been terrified of taking my car into a shop due to previous experiences of being overcharged and quoted for services that are not needed. Im going to be honest, I dont know much about cars but after taking my car here I can say with full confidence that I would recommend this shop to anyone especially my female friends who have all encountered similar issues. I have been having key issues since I purchased my car in 2015 and was always told I needed to take my car into a Volkswagen dealership where I have been quoted for $900+. My roommate recently got their car repaired here and recommended them to me, within the hour that I contacted them my car was looked at and I was given full attention as well as transparency. The convenience of hours and their pure knowledge of cars is unmatched. I cant thank David enough for the attention that was put into my car and for treating me like an actual human rather than a walking wallet. After the key repair, he even looked into an additional issue I was having with my breaks. The total cost of all the repairs was 50% less than I have been quoted for at Volkswagen dealerships and other auto repair shops in the area for the key issue alone. I think it goes without saying that capital city auto repair has restored my confidence in seeking help for car troubles when needed; their kindness, service and convenience is unmatched. This is the most unprofessional Auto shop I have ever used, I took my truck to go get looked at and fixed at 9am and when I decided to go by around 3pm and check on it, they were no where to be found, and the lady in the front to me they were working on it and gave me a number to call which they dont use, and they never answer their phone. When I went back to go and pick it up at 5pm, they didnt even remember me, the whole time I am in the shop arguing with everyone until the man finally found my paperwork and and after that they couldnt find my keys until one man looked in a different car.

I broke down on the interstate on my way from Jacksonville to Pensacola. I went online and read their reviews and all of them were positive and so true. The first thing that made me know that I picked the right place were their manners. All 3 were such gentlemen. Their prices were actually lower than I was expecting. Dave, the owner, was not only super polite, showed me exactly the issues with my vehicle and was very easy to work with. Will absolutely go there again, as I go live in Jacksonville and go to Pensacola several times a year. If Im in need of auto repair, I will plan my trips around it.

I can’t thank David, the owner, and his mechanic enough for all the help they have given us on our 2005 BMW X5. I live out of state and my daughter goes to school in Tallahassee at FSU. I had to find someone online to repair our car and the reviews were all true. I had the car towed to his shop and he and his staff were wonderful, HONEST and professional. He only did the repairs that were needed and didn’t try to find things wrong that weren’t. And when my daughter was heading back home on a Saturday morning and the check engine light came on for another problem, he actually came in on Saturday, his day off, to fix the problem so she could come home. Just the kind of service I like, direct and knowledgeable. I know a decent amount about my car, so Im fairly confident when it comes to getting work done (its 2019, you can search a lot on the internet before going in clueless). I dropped off my car right when the place opened (9am) yesterday, I called around lunch (when it was convenient for me), and the job (new brakes) was done around 3pm. When I picked up my car, all I did was pay and leave. They didnt try to sell me on any extras and everything was clearly communicated from the start. If you like no nonsense, this is the place for you and your car!

I knew this place was going to be good from the amazing reviews, but I had no idea how good! This being my first visit, I had no idea what to expect. As soon as I pulled in David was immediately ready to help me with whatever I needed. I needed a belt replaced and he was able to do this in about 5 minutes flat! Ive never seen an employee work as quick and as clean (with great bedside manner as well) at any other shop. He also went above and beyond after learning that I would be taking a long trip, and checked my fluid levels and tires as well. To top it off, he gave me the best deal I could ever imagine since it only took 5 minutes! ALL the other places I called told me it would take 1.5 hours and cost $78 bucks, but he quoted me 30 minutes and $40 bucks. And it was even cheaper and quicker than that! I have never had a better experience; I had to immediately go home and write a great review. You will not regret choosing this auto repair place over all others, I promise. David is absolutely magnificent and I could not have been more surprised at how he could turn a financial/time crunch into a great experience. Great job, David!

We dont live in Tallahassee and we were concerned with where to get our van fixed. The tow truck driver recommended Capital City and we had our van taken there. These people were awesome. We feel we were treated better than fair and they were amazingly fast. If I lived in Tallahassee this is the only place I would go for any car repairs.

I have a 2016 Ford F-150 that went into David’s shop for a 6inch suspension lift. I called in and scheduled an appointment for Monday to have the repairs done. Dropped off my truck first thing Monday morning and the lift was installed and everything was ready to go by 4pm the same day. Very impressed by the quality of the work done to my vehicle and the service that I was given by all of the employees. For any further repairs I will return to David without any hesitation. Awesome business.

While waiting during my cars initial inspection, I overheard Mr. Kaufman interact with a couple other customers. He was nothing but pleasant and friendly. One of the only honest auto repair shops left in Tally. They’ll be completely honest with you and they charge a fair price. Tally has a lot of college students, so auto repair centers around take advantage of this and charge ridiculous prices and are dishonest about things which will cost you a lot more money in the end. The shop is rag tag and looks run down, but there’s nowhere else I’d rather go (or recommend anyone else go) in tally than here.

Initially when my car was first brought there by my fiance, I thought the service was stellar. I dropped it off this morning to begin the repairs and I was treated horribly. Like 100% horrible. I suppose time will tell if the job they do and what they charge makes up for the lack of just basic human decency. If its a great job at a great price, no sweat off my back. If it goes in the other direction, well...thats a whole different story. I will definitely update once I get my car back.

I don’t know anything about cars. And luckily for me my car battery died on Friday. Someone came by to jump start it and then I went searching for a new battery so I can drive home and surprise my parents. I went to 2 place and asked if they could just look at my car and tell me what I need to fix. They wouldn’t even look at my car in till Monday. I decided to go to Advance Auto Parts. They were very nice but they could only do so much. They recommend Capital City Auto Repair. I went there and they were amazing! The owner David was so nice. He told me they can fix my car right now and it shouldn’t take more then 20 minutes. I was in and out of their in 20 minutes.They were so helpful and nice to me. I can’t thank them enough for their help!! I would recommend taking your car there!!

David is by far the best. They took my car the same day, and replaced the AC Compressor by the next morning (the day before Thanksgiving). He dealt with my father (whos very hard to deal with). Best prices in town, and he is extremely sweet and explained everything to me. You wont regret going there. My new place for all things car related!

I shopped around town to find a place to replace the transmission in my car, eventually settled on these guys, based on their high review ratings and the low quoted price they gave me. Im happy with the choice - they got the job done for hundreds of dollars less than what I would have paid elsewhere, and there were no mysterious charges added on to the bill. Everything they did was explained clearly to me and they checked with me first before ordering additional needed parts. They seem like good, honest guys who really know their stuff. Just a really great shop, these guys will be my go-to mechanic from now on.

Wow. This place is incredible. It definitely was the best auto repair experience I have ever been through. Local and small business, they outclassed any large, corporate chain I have worked with in the past. I originally went to Tires Plus across town(corporate type) and they were wanting to charge me well over $1,500 for what I needed done(brake pads, rotors, calipers etc.) I talked to a really nice guy named Justin who was super helpful and explained everything thoroughly. The best part, aside from excellent customer service, was the price($400 versus the aforementioned $1,500). This business really works to make the customer happy and their priority is customer satisfaction. I was completely satisfied and I recommend this place to anyone in town who wants to get some repairs on their car.

I wish there was more than 5 stars. I called with a broken drivers side window motor with rain coming and needing my car bad for upcoming week of grandchild care...( I did not tell him that ) but still he heard the desperation in my voice and wedged me in on quasi emergency...Im so loyal to my regular mechanic ( who does not have Saturday hours ) but if I ever again need Saturday work I will use this wonderful Capital City Auto Repair guy without hesitation...he was so sweet & did such good quick work for a reasonable price...THANKS SO MUCH GUYS REALLY!!

I needed a new clutch in my car and called around to get quotes. The beat the lowest quote in the city by $300! I assumed there would be some sort of extra cost or something, however they were extremely fast and I paid the quoted price! It is rare for a mechanic shop to be so honest and good. If you have an issue with your car take it here!

Hands down the best! Dave is nice, professional, helpful and accessable. I needed a window replaced in my car. He called for pricing and let me know that I could probably get it cheaper from Amazon that saved me at least $55.00. His quote was also the lowest in town to begin with! I never went to his garage before because I assumed that he was pricey and too busy due to his location but I got my glass and he installed it the next day, a Saturday! Ill definitely be taking my car there from now on.

I’m a young female college student. Admittedly, I have almost no knowledge of cars. I generally feel uncomfortable taking my car to mechanics due to the possibility of being cheated or taken advantage of. Yesterday when driving on the turnpike, a huge chunk of a tire came flying at my car. We wound up driving over it, but it got stuck under my car and resulted in a huge part of the underside of my car hanging and dragging. I called Capital City Auto Repair today late morning and the owner told me they could squeeze me in despite having a full schedule. They checked my car and found no internal damage, and they fixed the hanging piece and installed it. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and they wouldn’t take any money from me! Honest, trustworthy, caring, and hard working. I’ll be going here for all of my future car needs! Don’t hesitate to use their services!

So far so good the gentleman was nice and courteous I asked for an estimate on how much my brakes would be they took it for a test drive they they did exactly what I told him to do the car did exactly what it does with me and he said that is all normal that my brakes look good and that I should need brakes at 44000 and he said that basically he did not try to sell me a bill of goods which is the kind of people I like to deal with.

We were on a trip from south Alabama going down to Fort Lauderdale and we needed a place to get our A/C repaired (otherwise it would be one hot ride). We called several places, including many Chevrolet locations, but they were all booked. We found Capital City Auto Repair on Google, called in, and they were willing to work on it right then. Almost as soon as we got there they started working on the A/C, and didn’t stop, because they knew we were traveling.Review: They are hard workers, they don’t waste time, and are very personable. If you are looking for an auto repair place in Tallahassee, put them at the top of your list and give them a call.

I recently discovered this place just by looking around and im glad I did. Best place ever to get your vehicle serviced. The Staff is extremely friendly, prices are reasonable/cheap. And the NUMBER 1 thing for me is how QUICK they are compared to how busy they are! Good group of guys definitely go check them out!

Honest and dependable! I found Capital City Auto Repair after a car emergency that required me to find a repair shop in a hurry. I am so glad that Capital City Auto Repair was there. They did a great job on my car, and the work was done efficiently and in a timely manner. The price cant be beat! Excellent and professional service. I went to several repair shops, they asked for about 150 bucks to check and figure out the issue of headlight. But the guy at Capital City charged me nothing, just pointed out the tiny issue (not plug in) and fixed it. Thank you so much!

This is a great place! The owners are personable and very approachable people. I needed to have both my headlights replaced because they were in horrible condition. I almost never write reviews, but if theres a problem with your car, this is where you want to bring it in Tallahassee. Ive spoken and worked with David, Justin, and Ivan. All three of them are stand up guys who just want to help. Very knowledgeable crew and I trust their diagnoses and their pricing. Of course, being the 127th reviewer on here means that it isnt a secret that this is THE place to bring your car in Tallahassee, but I figured Id add on my experience with them as well:I came in to get my rotors and brake pads done and was quoted 2 hours for it at a very fair hourly rate. Randy and David ended up spending well over 3 hours on it because the previous owner of the vehicle made quite a mess of the braking system of my vehicle. I was still billed for just the two hours of labor even due to the extenuating circumstances of my particular situation. The work was done well. And I managed to squeeze in some great conversations with David while I was waiting.I cant stress enough how much I recommend these guys. Problem with your car? Routine maintenance? Car broken down in the middle of the road? Call them. Now.

I always go here for almost any problem with my car, small or big, and they always fixed it greatly, even for some problems which other places said no way to deal with. I have recommended them to several of my friends and they all felt very satisfied.

This place is the best. David (the owner) was incredibly nice and forthcoming. My car had trouble starting and needed a new battery along with an oil change. Luckily, this place was one of the few auto shops open on a Saturday and David got to work on my car right away and gave me timely updates of what was going on. They got the job done and replaced the connections to my battery under an hour and a half. The price was low and fair. I couldnt be any more pleased with the job. Plus, I got to watch the Seminoles game in the room next to the garage while my car was being worked on :) I highly recommend this place!

David made me feel very comfortable knowing I was not being taken advantage of. Most Auto repair places take full advantage of new customers this is not the case here. There has been several times I had to stop in and he gladly looked at my car and had my car up and running as quickly as possible. He is the one and only place I will go to for anything to do with my vehicles. A very stand up and honest guy for sure!

I had a power window that needed to have the motor and regulator replaced. The quote the dealer gave me was way too high. I talked to David and he quoted me less than half of what they wanted to charge. He had the job done in less than two hours while the dealer was going to have to keep it over night because they didnt have the part in stock. I highly recommend Capital City Auto Repair and will use them in the future.

AWESOME. My uncles a mechanic so I have a pretty good idea if someones trying to rip me off. David is phenomenal. He is honest and charges exactly what he should. He changed my oil for $20 and changed my tail light at no expense at all! He let me know what I should keep an eye on (like my brake pads were getting slim) but he didnt try to sell me something I didnt need right away. Hes the only mechanic Ill go to in Tallahassee.

We live in Rockledge, Florida and decided to stop for lunch at Tallahassee for Barnabys pizza and then on visit family. When my husband was ready to put his seat belt on and the belt wouldn’t lock. We looked up the local ford dealer. It was less a mile from the restaurant. When we got there they had no time to schedule us because they were short handed and overbooked. I went and googled seat belt repair and Capital city car repair popped up. We drove in at 2pm on a Saturday and were hoping someone could help us fix the belt. We approached Ben who was one of the service repair guys. he came up to our car on driver side and tried to pry it for us and then he told us it might need more work and we told him to do what he could. He started working on the car belt for over an hour. All of the sudden I hear the clicking noise of the belt! It was the best sound ever heard!!! To find this little gem of a repair shop with honest and hardworking Guys that are ready to help you in such a jam so far away from your home town. Highly recommend !

Came across Capital City Auto Repair by googling local autoshops and looking at reviews. I was not disappointed! I do not know much about cars and therefore do not know how the price compares to other repair shops but my overall experience was great! David was very friendly and seemingly trustworthy! I dropped my car off in the morning and it was ready to be picked up that same afternoon good as new. I would definitely recommend this auto repair shop if your car needs work!

My car broke down on a late Friday afternoon. I called David Saturday morning and he had my car fixed that afternoon. He even stayed open late to finish it so I would be able to get to work Monday morning. Very friendly guy and reasonable prices. Thanks David!

Fast, reliable, affordable, high quality. Capital City Auto Repair made a permanent customer from their professional and courteous staff who did a quality job in record time.I needed work done right before a major holiday. They were very busy, but they let me drop off my car in the morning (the day before Thanksgiving). Then they finished the A/C repair before 2pm. They worked me into their busy schedule and finished faster than I though possible. Most places told me to wait until after Thanksgiving. Great place to get any car worked on.

Im not one to to write reviews and I typically do my own work on cars. I acquired a project that was a little too much for me, asked around, and David at Capital City Auto Repair was recommended to me. Ive never trusted a mechanic but we talked and I was impressed by his level of knowledge on my rare vehicle (1978 Chevy Nova.) Not to mention his quote was almost HALF of what any other shop quoted me. So I took it to him. Repairs were completed ahead of schedule at EXACTLY the price he quoted (no surprises) and the cars been a blast to drive ever since. He made my little project a reality. The only way I could think to thank him was to write a glowing review and give him my personal seal of approval. From one car guy to another; this guy can handle whatever you throw at him!! These guys are absolutely awesome. They were able to squeeze me in just days before Christmas with an emergency problem, and they charged a fraction of what the dealership wanted. They were super honest with their work, and I will definitely be taking my car back to them for any future issues!

Like anyone, I hate having to get work done on my car but at least when I go to Capital City Auto Repair I feel like Im being treated fairly and truthfully. Ive been using David for the past year for oil changes and on the last visit he showed me a part that had worn out. My car is ten years old and I appreciate that he checks more than just the oil while Im there.Went in today for a headlight restoration and Im very pleased with the results. Highly recommended.

Wow. I live a State away and my nephew was graduating, and finals, and he heard bones grinding from the brakes, and....When in doubt I usually refer to the dealer for repairs, but as I was searching, I came across the reviews of Capital City Auto Repair and started reading. I have NEVER seen reviews like that anywhere. Sometimes a company may get their friends to stack the deck on the reviews, but 94 five stars?!? Long story short, if I could click the 10-star button I would. I would actually consider driving there from my State for a major repair, such was their rapid response, keeping my informed, quality of work, PRICE, and probably most of all, their honest assessment. I was hanging in the wind on this one and there was no hint of them taking advantage of the situation. I only have thanks for Justin and Randy for getting us out of a bind so professionally.

Best service I have ever received! I am a college student at FSU and car troubles can be nerve wracking, but Mr. David was incredibly knowledgeable, genuine, and helpful. Even took me under the car to explain exactly what was going on. Best service in Tallahassee! Couldnt recommend them more.

2/24/18I had an issue with my jeep wrangler on a busy Friday. After a brief conversation with David at Capital City Auto Repair, I decide to get my car towed to his shop in the afternoon. David gave me a call the next morning on Saturday telling me that he has diagnosed the problem and was going to proceed with the repair. My Wrangler was ready before noon and was at his shop for a total time of less than 24 hours. Very impressed with their work ethic and the job they did. 10/10.

David and his staff did a fabulous job in repairing my car and making me feel at ease. My car was leaking gas into the canister purge valve and eventually the gas started to seep out and onto the floor. I greatly appreciated the fact that David took the time to recommend that I drive safely even after I was tempted to take my car elsewhere. The concern was genuine and thats something I greatly appreciate in people. They are a very professional and prompt crew at Capital City Auto Repair. I meant to write this awhile ago. David was fantastic. He took a lot of time to explain in detail what was wrong with my car. He knew I didnt plan on keeping the car long and told me what could wait and what couldnt. I tried to give him more for his diagnostic fee, because he spent a lot of time on it and my car was taking up space in his shop, but he refused to take more than his normal charge. Its hard to find an honest mechanic and this guy is the real deal.

These guys are honest with a fair price. They say what they are going to do, and do what they say. Great work on my old truck. Will use them from now on.
