I had my vehicle towed to The Auto and Tire Doctor for engine troubles and worked closely with Josh. It ended up being that the car was totaled and Josh was incredibly accommodating. He was patient and understanding with me while I figured out a way to get my vehicle towed from the lot. The Auto and Tire Doctor provides great services for good prices. If youre looking to get work done at an honest business, this is the place to go.

They managed to see and fix our car day of and really helped us out of a tight spot before the weekend. We woke up this morning with a nearly flat tire from a nail. AAA recommended that we head to the Auto & Tire Doctor in Truckee, and now we know why. We were concerned because we had an important appointment to attend. We were first met by Mason, who was not only professional but understood our angst. He personally saw to it that we were able to get our problem fixed and that we could still get to our appointment on time. Hurray for Mason! The technician, Zeke, was thorough, skilled, and an expert at explaining the work that he did. Wed also like to thank Josh for his friendliness and for helping make a difficult situation fun. And, the price was very fair. We also loved the automotive decor...it looks like a museum.

I had an issue with my tire sensors. Tyler & the team adjusted the tire pressure & my sensor. I had a 9am appointment & was out the door in 15 minutes. Tyler took good care of me. We have been clients for years. I am so grateful to have such an awesome business in our community.

On a trip our motorhome had an issue with a wheel well coming off and almost slicing through the air line to the back tire. Allen came out and repaired the wheel quickly and didnt charge us! Instead he said God Bless, this is a FAMILY business and sent us on our way! We were blessed and surprised!!

THE BEST EVER!! I was on my way from the Bay Area to Tahoe for the weekend and my radiator and coolant system blew at the Donner Pass. Yup. Thats like $1,000 tow if you need to come off of that. By the grace of God I was able to limp to Truckee where, moments from overheating with a dry engine, I found these guys at 3:30 p.m. on a Friday. They were able to look at my car and to fix the problem and get me on the road before 5 p.m.I dont know where you grew up but where I grew up thats next to Impossible. It was a miracle and I am forever grateful to them for that.They are hands-down the most friendly and likeable people I have ever met in this industry and their craftsmanship and workmanship is top-notch.I could not recommend them more.

Joshua and Mason helped bail me out of a difficult situation. I had a 2003 Chevy Suburban towed an hour to the Auto & Tire Doctor. Joshua managed to fit us in to have a broken radiator hose fixed. We were in a hurry because the family and I were camped an hour outside of any phone/internet service area; Joshua made it happen! Courteous and professional, honesty and value go a long way in my opinion. Best auto shop Ive ever been to. Thanks, guys!

The only reason this isn’t a one star review is because my spark plug issue was fixed. However, their lack of attention to detail led me to driving off their lot with my passenger side front axle spring out of place after being told everything was fine.Their customer service is atrocious. Communication is lacking. Every time I was given a timeline they never followed up, instead I had to call each and every time. Chris deserves to be fired or get customer service re-training.Here is all the nonsense I dealt with (majority from Chris):Vehicle was delivered Monday around 3pm and needs to get an hour diagnostic. They were busy and couldn’t get to it that evening and I was told they would get to it first thing the next morning. 10am Tuesday I called in and Chris told me there is a technician working on it now and it’s an hour diagnostic so I thought I would hear back by 11am. No call. I called in at 1pm and Chris tells me they still don’t know what’s wrong with it even after I told them several times it’s potentially a spark plug (90% confident). Annoyed with situation I drove down to the location to speak to them in person right before they closed because I still had not heard anything. Only after I showed up in person was I told what the problem was and my suspicion was confirmed as it was the #2 spark plug. I then politely explained to Chris that I need the vehicle to be finished by Wednesday as I would not have a place to stay after Wednesday night. His response to me since my vehicle is an RV “it’s an RV right? You can just sleep in the RV”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? This was the 2nd incident.The first was actually when he was explaining to me that it was an hour diagnostic and I had asked why because it only takes 15 minutes to plug in the machine and read codes. His response “we do more than just read codes, we do a thorough 1 hour diagnostic”. Please explain to me why the front spring popped out of place was missed. I was given my vehicle with the steering wheel canted at minimum 20 degrees to the left and that’s not how I brought it in. As well as rough/grinding noises in the front passenger side wheel well that I did not catch until I drove off the lot. This is all after the mechanic took it for a test drive and told me that my vehicle is “all good”.I understand that this happened mainly because my vehicle was towed to the Auto Doctor but by no means should the Auto Doctor have let me drive off the lot with my front axle spring detached. I called to tell them and the mechanic had said “sorry we missed it” basically saying oops my bad. I talked to Chris about seeking a refund just on the diagnostic because the spring was missed and his response was “well we fixed your problem didn’t we?” Technically yes but left me with another.He told me he would call me back essentially hanging up on me.Overall I would not take my vehicle there due to their lack of professionalism, lack of communication, lack of attention to detail, horrendous customer service and ridiculous prices. They charged me $815 to replace the #2 spark plug on ford e350 engine plus the hour diagnostic. Btw no refund at this point. I doubt I will get a call back either.

Took 4 days to get an appointment. Although I had a FixD readout of the code, was charged $165 for diagnosis. Was charged a 109% premium for the part and got the car back the following Tuesday for a total bill of $732 for a 2.5 hour labor job. Had to call in every step of the way just to see what was going on. Moral of the story is hope that you dont have a check engine Light come on on your way to Truckee.

Great service. Staff was incredibly helpful and kind, especially since I showed up for a smog check when they were closing in 45 minutes.

Tire and oil change services seem to be well done. Quite expensive though. Staff friendliness hit or miss. Mask compliance also hit or miss despite signs stating masks required.

I was towed to this shop by AAA last Thursday and dropped off just before the shops closing hours. Personel in this shop were friendly and courteous. The next day they ordered the parts for my car and by Monday my car was fixed. Allens team is fenomenal and trustworthy. The price for the repair was also good. Low pressure tire light was on. Service Advisor Chris quickly checked tire pressure and found one tire low on air. Technician TJ pulled the tire, removed a piece of metal and plugged the leak. I was in the store less than 20 minutes. I appreciated the prompt professional service.

Good service for most part use regularly, mechanics are hard 2 come by around here.Enjoy the fact that its more of a mom and pop shop type feel.Totally dig and welcome well behaved pets vibe also!Unfortunately can take awfully long time for services that Ive never waited that long for. And they can be very pricey however overall decent and helpful.

So great to have a family-owned trustworthy auto repair shop in Truckee! Been taking several cars here for many years, and today (12/14/2020) the hood latch on my Subaru Forester malfunctioned so it would not close properly. I just popped in unannounced, and Alan took a look, then drove into the garage. Ten minutes later he brought it back out and it was working perfectly! He fixed it right then and there even though they were booked solid! Wouldnt take my cars anywhere else. Thanks Alan!

These guys are the best, they take care of our oil changes, tire changes, general repairs all the time...for years. They are honest and know how to treat the customer. I recently called asking to have a brake light fixed and to see how much it would cost as i was quoted $79 from Quality Automotive and thought that seemed high. I was curious about this shop cause it was right down the street. Then i called Auto Doctor and he said, oh come in and ill take care of you i said ok but can you let me know how much? He said ill just do it! For free, we take care of our customers, we know the money will come later if you take care of your customers, im not worried about it! WOW!!! So impressive....I feel bad for even looking into using another place. Will always use Truckee Auto Doc moving forward!

Been going here for a few years. Honest, skilled technicians. I maintain my car with them, and when something needs to be fixed they do and do it well and affordably and when nothing needs to be done, they send you on your way. I have brought my Ford Transit van to them for the past 10,000 miles, two checkups and everything looked great, so only paid for the oil and filter change. Highly recommend the place.

The Auto and Tire Doctor know my car really well and it fells great to have their feedback. Every time I have my car serviced they take the time to explain what preventative maintenance should be performed down the road. Ive been to a few other shops and do not feel the same care is given. There is no getting around maintaining your vehicle, especially in the mountains, and these guys are obviously well trained and will give your car the best chance at a long healthy life.

Even being booked for a week out, Allan and Josh took my car back, rotated the tires, and checked the system just in time for another storm. All of this without even giving me a bill. The folks at the Auto Doctor in Truckee do an excellent job at very reasonable prices - i highly recommend them. Recently had my 2010 Subaru rear brakes replaced - the job was done quickly and the car was ready before the promised time. It was gratifying to see the staff all wearing masks and being sensitive to my concerns for a COVID safe experience.

So far my best experience of 2021 was the pleasure of dealing with these guys. Turned my 1000$ problem into 250$. Done in a day.

I do not enjoy leaving negative reviews, but after waiting for 2 days and spending $400 on a hotel room, I am left with no choice. I was told that my diagnostic would be done on the 1st day I brought it in and hopefully the work could be completed by the next day. NOTHING was done after I called several times, just wanting an update. I was given wildly different timelines by two different people. If your shop is too busy, just tell me and I will go elsewhere. But dont tell me that you can do it and leave me hanging, waiting and spending $100s in the process, just so I have to spend a few hundred more to have my car towed to Sacramento. SERIOUSLY MESSED UP!

Our car broke down while visiting Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area. We called AAA Roadside Assistance and they recommended having it towed to The Auto & Tire Doctor. The car’s high pressure fuel pump had failed and they ordered the part and had it installed by midday the next day. Unfortunately the car started running rough shorty after I picked it up so I brought it right back. It was late in the day but they immediately checked the error codes and the car had misfired on one cylinder. I left the car there again as I didn’t feel comfortable taking it on the long drive home. The next two days they took it on 3 test drives of 15+ miles to try to replicate the issue but the car kept running fine. After their exhaustive testing I felt comfortable driving it home. They did not charge me anything extra for their effort trying to locate this second issue with the car and had even put $20 worth of gas in the tank. These guys are honest, knowledgeable and provide great service. I would not hesitate to bring my car there again.

Did decent repair job on the car but absolutely terrible prices..Well at least for travelers and it seems like they must have a few towing companies that will only bring a broken down vehicle to them. Coincidence ??? Probably not.

While up in the Tahoe area got a flat. The AAA guy recommended The Auto and Tire Doctor. Dave Carter the service guy was super nice! Checked out my tire, plugged it and I was done. All the while though kept me informed and making sure I was cool with what was happening. On a Saturday morning, this place gave fantastic customer service. He even reminded me if I needed anything else they were open until 2pm. Knocked it out of the park! The shop is also very cool with automotive/racing memorabilia, and auto artwork!

Worked with Joshua when I had a transmission issue. Very fair rates and were a joy to deal with.Edit: Im editing my review because they only fixed the first and second ignition coils, and I had to take my car in again a month or so later, to get 3+4 fixed.

Great prices and customer service! Stopped in for a diesel smog and they had me in and out of there in no time at all. Lisa’s customer service was impeccable and I was greeted by her as soon as I came through the door. She kept me updated and let me know when I only had a few minutes left to wait. Great customer service, great technicians and open when I needed them.I got a flat tire driving up to Tahoe and didn’t discover it until Saturday morning. By then, the other repair shops were closed by noon. Fortunately, The Auto & Tire Doctor was still open. Dave and the technicians took care of me by putting a plug in the flat and replacing the spare. Was in Tahoe for vacation while backing out of a rut damagedthe track bar. Came in on a Friday morning around 8 a.m. they had parts delivered from Sacramento vehicle back in service by 4 p.m. so I could do my 6 our drive home. Would definitely recommend because of their great customer service everyone. My only disappointment and its all due to the fact of location and need was the labor cost. But I drove home knowing the work was done right

What a great shop and great employees!!! I went in to buy chains but unfortunately they dont sell chains but Kaitlin the receptionist did help is find somewhere that did sell chains and she even gave my son a hot wheels car!!! He was happy!! The waiting room is very cool with all the collections of cars and license plates. Thank you for a great mini trip to your shop!!

Wonderful and Honest!After a horrible experience at a bay area Honda dealership I brought my car here with the list of supposed problems that the dealership found.New brakes and motor mounts that were destroyed and needed replacement.Auto Doctor ordered the parts and made an appt. Once on the rack they found that my car wasnt due for brakes yet or for awhile and the motor mounts were perfectly intact.We have always had good service here but this really sealed the deal.I highly recommend the Auto Doctor and really value their honesty and integrity!Thank you Auto and Tire Doctor, you have a customer for life!Big shout out to Dave Carter for his amazing customer service, honesty and integrity! I had a flat while driving around Truckee and looked up the closest auto body shop. Dave was super friendly and I had a great time hanging out at the shop. We love the Auto & Tire Doctor. They earned our loyalty two summers ago when they replaced our battery in the midst of the 4th of July madness. Since then I always take our cars to them. They are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Yesterday I popped in because I had a glacier dangling from a wire in my undercarriage. Juan was wonderful and zip tied where a plastic clip had broken off. In and out in 3 minutes. A&TD earns our business again and again!

The Auto and Tire doctor has been servicing cars in the Truckee area since 1983. Truckees only AAA approved repair facility and now offering smogs on 2000 and newer at our Express Lube ... on Saturdays too! Love working for this company!!!!!

Awesome service! My trucks water pump went out while camping with my family and from my first call to asking them if I could have my truck towed to their shop, Lisa was friendly, very helpful and accommodating. They were able to diagnose the issue a couple hours after dropping it off and had it fixed by the following afternoon. Home is 6 hours away but I would definitely have them work on all my vehicles if I lived in town.

Made an appointment for 9 am for a warranty repair that was allotted 1 hour for our motor home. We were told it would be ready after lunch, that equates to three hours plus. We did not feel comfortable with the service advisor nor the mechanic and felt they could care less about us. We said forget it, we will drive 70 miles to a shop we know cares. We would not recommend this shop.

Have only been to the Auto Doctor for oil changes. Always do a great job, get me in and out and even switched out the front with the rear tires, which had more tread. The new express lube facility is awesome, located down the driveway before the original Auto Doctor off Pioneer.Thank you!

Im in town visiting my son and had a flat tire. Dave was incredibly friendly. Got me right in on Saturday. Tire examined, screw was found, repaired, $20, out of there in 30 minutes. Will be heading back to WA. Next time Im in town and need car stuff done....Ill go here. Thanks Dave

Awesome customer service! I was helped by Dave and TJ. They were able to fit me in on a Saturday without an appointment. They did an amazing job mounting and balancing 4 oversized tires when most other shops could not. This is definitely one of the best auto shops I have ever been to and I highly recommend them.

Friendly service, but these guys do not know what they are taking about. Had a snapped belt fan belt, leading to a hot engine. No radiator damage. The belt was old, so were the others. Asked them to replace all belts. Coolant flush plus three belts on a Toyota Re22 cost $600. Fine. They told me I had 25% life left on my brakes. 500 miles later, my brakes were grating metal on metal, and my brand new alternator belt snapped, causing another overheating event. The belt had squealed from the day I drove it off the lot. These guys clearly do not know how to put on a belt or assess wear on brakes. Avoid at all costs.

I stopped in here on the way home to Rocklin to fill up my windshield wiper fluid. Lisa said they dont like to charge for those kind of things so she filled it up for free. These guys are extremely nice and helpful. Lisa was so awesome! Give her a free lunch!

Five years ago I blew a transmission in my truck on Donner Pass. Not only did the Auto Doctor get me back on the road when they said they would, they did it for less money than my local dealership in Colorado would have charged me. Since then I make sure I get my truck in to the Auto Doctor at least twice a year so they can make sure everything on my truck is in top running condition. As a single mom driving alone 40-50,000 miles a year the piece of mind the Auto Doctor gives me is priceless! Thank you for always taking such good care of me!

They did the job well. They were polite and accommodating. They are a good part of the community. My 2-star reflects that I told them the diagnosis and what needed to be done but then they charged me for a diagnosis that came to the same conclusion that I had already notified them of.

I had to get a tire repair done quickly while on vacation in Truckee and they were awesome about accommodating the walk-in request. Dave Carter was so nice - opened up the shop a few minutes early for me, and then had my car up on the rack and repaired in no time. Thank you!

I spent a few days hiking the PCT from Echo Lake to Donner Pass. As I drove the car from Echo Lake to Donner, the cars life ended. I am from out of state, making coordinating the salvage, tow truck, and stuff a challenge. Lisa was stellar to work with through this process. I appreciated her providing info on rebuilds and for working with me as I got the title to Auto and Tire Doc and figured stuff out. Thanks, Lisa!

Friday afternoon and my car wasnt done, the technicians we already coming back from the store with beer and reeking of pot smoke, so I can only assume that my car wasnt a priority. I know the past reputation of this shop, as a party zone, but had hoped that it had changed. Obviously the only way for it to change is for an honest, ethical owner to take it over. Great location, but poor staffing choices and mismanagement, from the top down. I now know why my friends told me not to come here, even for something as simple as an oil change and tires.

The best Auto Shop in Truckee bar none. Friendly for the most part if just a little down to business, they are always busy busy busy. Do right by the customer and give back to the community big time!
