I was really unsatisfied with the work they did. I took my car in to have some front end work done they informed me my tire rod and wheel baron needed to be replaced. After waiting for a week, they gave me back my car with a terrible grounding sound which I did not have when I brought my vehicle in . I called to inform them that I am hearing a sound that was not there when I brought the car in and the mechanic told me to Waite a couple of days and it should go away. I was very upset by this answer as the sound was coming from my wheels. So I called back and the other guy told me to bring back and then tells me that’s the sound he heard the other night. That made me nervous. After they supposedly fixed problem with the sound, in which they told me now it was due a bolt being loose, now my axle needs to be replaced. After paying $900 for my work and getting my car back in worst condition then I brought it the first time I did not trust them to do the work. The service is poor and I feel as They can’t be trusted. I’m not even sure if they did the work I initially brought the car in for. I feel unsafe to drive my car and now will be out of more money to try and take to another mechanic.

Took my car in for an AC Recharge and Repair only to get it back FIVE days later more broken than it was. My car wasn’t very bearable driving in the summer heat, but now something inside the hood is making a loud buzzing noise. It’s so loud that I can’t go through drive-thrus and it’s audible over my (loud) music with all my windows rolled up. No cold air either. He somehow made the issue significantly worse while fixing nothing about my car.When my car was picked up, I was left with a receipt that said “AC repair” and that’s it. No detail of parts, services, etc. Very unprofessional. I’m certain he didn’t even service my car the 5 days it was on his lot. He left a pair of pliers in my hood and once removed all was quiet. AC still wasn’t working though.

Way more than oil changes. Come here for all of your auto repair needs!!! Todd and Barb are great!!! They truly take care of people like they are family. This place is an asset to the community.

Ive been using this shop for years. The work quality was good, the prices fair, and the attitude friendly. Lately the customer service has been bad enough for me to change my mind. My guess is that due to low prices, they get enough business anyway, so their attitude to customers changed for worse. The last straw was today. Last week I called and scheduled a service for today (Wed). Before hanging up, I double-checked with the lady on the phone: So, next Wednesday at 3? - Yes, next Wednesday at 3. Today I show up before 3 and I address the lady at the counter, the same person to whom I talked over the phone. She cannot find my appointment and then she says I made it for tomorrow (Thursday). It would be OK but I cant make it tomorrow, and she suggests I make another appointment for the next week because they are fully booked. I try to tell her that actually my appointment was for today, and she confirmed it over the phone. Also, her tone is unfriendly, and I feel unwelcome in this place. Before I get my chance to talk and settle it with her one way or another, Todd (the owner), who was present from the beginning, tells me in a rude tone: Dont you see we are busy? Come next week or go elsewhere! - and waves towards the door. I havent been insulted more in any business over many years. Messing up the appointment date is not a big problem per se, it happens. But getting rid of a customer in a patently rude manner is not something a business owner should do. Ill take Todds advice - however rude - and will bring my business elsewhere from now on.

Dishonest and an awful experience! I took my car in for an oil change and when I came back they said my car wouldnt start and needed >$700 for a new computer to get it running. It seemed sketchy so I didnt have them do the work. It turns out the fuses were tampered with and nothing was wrong with the computer. I dont trust Illini Oil Change and warn others to stay away!

The service was amazing we brought are car up there and Todd was great we called a day before are appointment and he said bring it up here and we love coming here 10 out of 10 the people are so nice and the customer service was fantastic i will be recommending this place to every person i know and they are good and honest people

Illini Oil had my car for three weeks, with very little communication about when repairs would be done. They had to order a radiator, but said it was misplaced by the people delivering it. They ordered a second radiator. They never apologized for the long wait and placed the blame on the company they ordered the part from, which is not the customer’s problem. Overall, Todd is knowledge and honest but they really need to work on customer service

Ive brought my cars (Subaru, Toyota, and Honda) to Illini for 9 years now. Todd and Tony are always great and honest. Prices are fair and theyve always honored their work. They do solid work here and have given me an incredible amount of free diagnostic work over the years. Thanks for being fair and reliable. Its much appreciated.

This is the best place to get your car fixed. I have never been more confident referring people to a business. These guys are good and honest. Its hard for us who have no knowledge of auto mechanics to trust someone not to take advantage of that. I really appreciate Illini oil for being there when I need them the most. 1st week in Champaign and was recommended to come here and get work done on Audi and there were issues about appointment. There was bad communication to find out we was on list for scheduled appt. And then left car for 3 days and did not hear anything from them so I went to see whats they said they was busy and did not have time to look at. I asked for communication thats all. They said to leave for another week due to lack of workers. I said okay today has been the week and 1 day.still nothing has been done or looked at. Not even an oil change and they even took my sparks for car and did not put on. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS PLACE AT ALL...

Illini Oil Change is the friendliest and most helpful car place Ive ever been to. I dont know anything about cars and its pretty obvious but the guys that work at the shop never make me feel inferior. I went to see if they could fix something for me today and Todd said that he could do it later in the day but wanted to look to make what I wanted fixed was not impeding my driving. Not only did he take a look, but he fixed it for me on the spot, even though he was extremely busy. It is small gestures like these that make coming to Illini Oil so pleasant. Thank you SO much for making today a little less stressful :)

Ive been taking my car here for regular maintenance for about a year now. For that reason, I had my car towed here when it broke down, and I was given an honest assessment about the problem and how much it would be to fix it. I dont know much about cars so I always feel prone to getting screwed when it comes to mechanics, but Im very comfortable at this place. When I told him I wasnt going to have him fix it, he didnt charge me anything for the diagnosis (I think because Im a regular customer) and then gave me recommendations about what to do with the car. I think Illini Oil Change is a great local business with a trustworthy owner, and I strongly recommend them.

Went in for brake problems and little money,I asked if they would honor an expired cup on and they said well work it out. Well they fixed my brakes,cleaned my headlights, and did an oil change all for half what it would have cost at other places I called. I will definitely keep going back .

I had some transmission fluid leaking from my (rather crappy) car, and it desperately needed an oil change and new brakes. I took it to Illini Oil Change, mostly because theyre close to my work and I had a coupon, but it turned out to be a great decision! They changed the oil, put in new brake pads, ground the rotors, and figured out that there were actually two problems with the transmission. Todd called and explained the problems to me and gave me some prices. I checked online while we were talking, and they were actually a little below the average price for these types of repairs in this area!Not only did he fix the big things, he also helped with several other small things. We got some gently used tires that were in much better condition than our old ones at a very reasonable price. Also, he graciously gave us a replacement hubcap, at no charge at all, off of one of his own cars.This was definitely a difficult repair, and bigger than we expected, but when we learned that the car wouldnt be ready to go by 5pm (so that I could go pick up my kids), Todd got us a great loaner car until ours was ready.About a week after wed taken it in, we noticed some strange sounds while we were driving around. I called Todd, and he had us bring it in and he fixed the problem at no charge. Also, true to his form, he straightened out a dent in the door that was preventing the interior open door light from turning off. Not only does my car run better, it LOOKS better! I appreciate a repair shop that values my patronage so much, and has such excellent customer service. Their prices are fair, their employees are honest, hard-working, considerate, and helpful, and their turn-around time is reasonable. Theyre great to work with, even if your car isnt.

Worst Place ever. I took my car for repair and they charged me for the diagnostic, which Todd told me it was OK because if I repair my car there they wont charge me for the labor. They asked me for arm and legs for the parts and I decided to buy online and I trust them enough to place the parts. However, when I got there Todd told me just to place my car aside it doesnt want his boss to know that he would be working on my car. Literally, it never place the new parts and it performed a work for a temporary fix. So when I got there to pick up my car I asked him whether he did the oil change or not. He told me he did but he forgot to change the mileages sticker. Moreover, I drove off with hopes that everything was OK but after two weeks my car literally started to present exactly the same problem and I run out of oil which was a bit strange to me because I didnt use the car enough for the next oil change. Make long story short my engine is dead because of greedy and irresponsibility. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

I like coming to this place for oil changes when I cant get my car on a lift, they dont try to confuse me and sell me things I didnt ask for and they know how to do things right. You may be able to get your alignment or other things done for less elsewhere but theres a good chance that person is Jethros brother who just cross-threaded all of the last customers lug nuts on one wheel. Or its the dude at Chain Mart that didnt torque the drain plug on your moms transmission now shes wondering why her car smells funny and wont go over 50. I had that happen too! Do the work right yourself then you can say how much you would charge for it.I went in yesterday for new tires and 2 other things, they cleaned out my engine compartment, cleaned and applied dielectric grease to my battery terminals, buffed my headlights, replaced a wheel stud I didnt see was stripped, and told me how NOT to put a caliper bracket back together. I was surprised they went THAT above and beyond. With prices basically the same everywhere (for most nice things) the people at Illini Oil Change really try to get you your moneys worth and make your vehicle run a long time.

They damaged my wifes car during a different repair and didnt warranty their work. They replaced the serpentine belt and damaged one of the pulleys in the process, then tried to charge us a $1000 to replace the pulley I took the car to a different mechanic to have the work done by someone I can trust. These guys are nothing but shade tree mechanics. Go elsewhere.
