I had to go in because of an odd noise that was coming from my car and they were able to diagnose the issue in detail, fast and completely free of charge. The staff are really friendly. I wasn’t sure if I should change my brake fluid and do a car alignment, they took the time to check my car, and explained to me whether I should do anything or not without additional charge. One of mechanic helped me installed a small piece of car decoration that I don’t have the ability to do myself. On another day, I went there and the lady gave me free pizza and donuts. She did not know her kind move rescued my day: I had an awful day that day and did not eat anything until her pizza.These things may not be directly related to car mechanical issues, but each time I visit I feel happy and warmly treated.

Knowledge, skill and trust are my three essentials in choosing and staying with an auto repair shop - and KCM has them all! KCM is a multi-generation family business and when I come in I feel like part of that family. They are extremely knowledgeable and look for an inexpensive fix first. I always feel like I can trust them to provide excellent service at reasonable prices.

On my last visit, since they couldnt reproduce the problem, they sent me the error codes that they saw and shared their thoughts on what the issue might be and didnt charge me. They really are great with their customers!

As a relatively new customer, I can say that my first two visits had me wanting to return to KCM Auto Care, but my third did not.The staff at KCM Auto Care are all undeniably nice, even when you call to make an appointment, the receptionists I have spoken with have been kind and delightful. However, when I walked in the the other day to get an oil change, I was faced with three people behind the desk that were all not wearing masks.I will not be returning to KCM Auto because no matter how nice they are, the fact that every worker there chose not to wear a mask until after I requested it, was enough to make me believe that the staff doesnt feel concerned about the safety of other people.I have nothing negative to say about the services they provide, I originally went with them because of raving Reddit posts. However, even once this pandemic is over, I will not be returning to them seeing as no one seemed to take it seriously.

KCM substituted a larger size Penske Truck with a broken windshield at this location even though I called ahead to ask if the correct size truck was available. It was too late to do anything about it, because we had to move that day, so just had to deal with the oversized truck. Im sure they were thrilled to transfer the problem truck off their lot. Stick with a different truck rental location if you can. Keep it up KCM broken windshields and oversized trucks for all Penske rentals ! They did have a friendly dog and maybe some reptiles to watch during the rental process, but that doesnt help improve the rental truck experience. Go with any alternative if you can.

Today was so disappointing. I have given KCM Auto 5 stars previously, but today was the final straw. No one was wearing masks, no one was social distancing, and even though I was wearing a mask and trying to keep my distance, they kept approaching me without masks on.On top of that, over the phone they quoted me $140 for the service I needed. Once there, they charged me $172: an extra $11 for shop supplies, $14 for taxes, and $7 for using a credit card. In the past, I have always thought they were honest, good mechanics, and the cheapest place around, but after today, I am looking for a new mechanic. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!

I come here because the prices are reasonable and they threat every person who walks in like family. Getting my oil changed, guy pulls in on his rim on a flat tire. Change the tire to the spare didnt charge him a dime. Owner Patrick actually thanked the guys for his service. Ill be ba k for sure.

These are great people. I was in town for business on a Friday afternoon and had a nail in my tire. Within a minute of walking in the door, they had my car up on the lift. They fixed it in about 15 minutes. They also had a cute puppy roaming around the lobby. Excellent service. The world needs more friendly, salt-of-the earth people like this.

They saved my tail. I had a widow that didnt go up and down correctly. Not the motor but it got into a position that it wouldnt go up but half way. They fixed it on the spot so I didnt have to wait because it looks like rain.

I didn’t get auto care, but got a box truck instead. We had a pickup for 8:30 AM, we get there at 8 AM and still don’t leave until 9 AM. I had to miss an hour of work because of this.They didn’t even acknowledge us after 15 minutes of standing there. They finally just said “are you here for Penske?” And when we said yes, just walked away. None of them were wearing masks.Also, after us sitting there for 20 minutes, 2 white guys come in and they IMMEDIATELY stop what they’re doing to talk to them and help them. They blatantly ignored the other 4 POC (3 were black) in there. I’m glad I won’t be having to go back here, but if you’re a person of color, I would recommend going to Jacquie’s Brakes Plus on Neil and Springfield. He’s amazing and I wish I was able to recommend him more

Great place for auto repair. Recently had oil and filter changed. Patrick and the staff was friendly. They even topped off the coolant, brake fluid and power steering fluid which was very nice of them. I wish they would allow customers to stand right by their cars to see the work thats being done but insurance policies prohibit them from doing so.

Sheila and I are the owners of Wilburs taxi, and stop in for repairs once in a while. About two months ago I tried to have a bumper hitch installed on our taxi, but it could not be done. any other garage in town would have charged me an arm and leg for just the time involved. Dont know the guys name but he has a long black beard, and is just a great person to deal with every time we go there. They charged nothing, and apologized. And Julie at the front desk is a no-nonsense gal with knowledge. Call first they stay busy for a reason.

Extremely nice and HELPFUL people. That is a rare find these days, especially since they had never met me before. I had run out of fuel on the interstate and they helped me and refused to take any money for saving me. Great people. I cant say enough about how nice they were to a complete stranger!

Have brought our older cars into KCM a few different times over the past couple years and have always had excellent experiences. They give honest advice and go the extra mile to take care of you as a customer. A couple times they have fixed an extra thing they found for no extra fee (small things) and surprised me by their genuine care. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

Best auto place in town, by far!! The employees go above and beyond to help their customers! My car was on the verge of breaking down. All the other auto shops would not help me out -- there was going to be at least a week-long wait. I called KCM and the mechanic had me come in immediately. They found out what the problem was, drove me home, ordered and replaced the part and had the car ready to go within 24 hours. Not only did they cut me a great deal, but they truly care about helping their customers in any way that they can. Genuine, trustworthy people who are good at what they do!! People like this are hard to come by nowadays. Youd be crazy not to contact them!

Took my truck to a different 3-letter shop in town because the main brake line burst. They did the usual inspection, then gave me an inflated estimate of nearly $3,000. I immediately had my truck towed to KCM and they took one look at the quote and laughed. They inspected the truck and let me know which points the other shop may have gotten correct. In all, they gave me a quote of $600, no where NEAR $3,000, of only the parts they really needed to replace to get my truck safely back on the road. Original shop quote to replace brake line $850. KCM price: $275.Ill always take my truck to KCM.

These people really know what they are doing and it wasnt until recently that I had a bad experience with them, hence the 3 stars verus 2. I took in my car one day to get a gas leak checked out. I was told my car was in pretty good condition and that the service would not cost more than $350. I was very happy because I knew I had an old car and was expecting to give up on it from a much higher expense. I told them to go ahead and also do an oil change. Well, they did the job well but it took them an entire week to get the job done that they claimed would only take 4 hrs. The really frustrating thing was that they kept promising it would be done by the end of the day and it wasnt. Finally, they admitted to their manager being gone and having 2 people out and blah blah. I think they have a great manager that really keeps their business working but without him, the place falls apart. At the end, I spent over $600 because they found more rust and had to fix a brake line that had fallen not because of their work but because my car had more rust in that area than I had been told initially. On top of this, when I went to check my oil before I went on a trip, I realized that they had forgotten to change the oil even though they charged me for it. When I called back, the lady didnt even offer a free oil change until I suggested one. Instead, she just apologized and ask if I wanted to get an oil change because I had already paid for it. I am never returning here for basic jobs but admittedly, this is probably the only place I trust that will do great work on your car. They really just need to figure out their organization and staffing issues whenever their manager is out. I left feeling very disappointed and angry with their business because the workers I have met before have always been very nice. Also, some advice for the older lady who works at the desk, its probably not a great idea to answer personal calls when you have costumers. Its unprofessional and a bit awkward.

This shop is amazing! They have worked on two of my vehicles and I am always satisfied with the work and the cost. Even if they get something wrong they make it right (at no cost to you!). You never have to worry about this shop padding your bill with extra things you dont need. As long as I live in Chambana this will always be my shop!

I have been going to KCM for over 10 years now. Ive tried going to other places before, just because of special sales, but always come back to KCM. These people are honest. And Julie explains things really well!!!One time they under-quoted me a price so offered (aka I didnt ask) to meet me half way to pay the difference. Who does that nowadays?Customer service couldnt be better. they dont find a whole bunch of things to fix either, if you know what I mean. cant say enough about them. Wish more businesses where like this!!!

Ive been taking my cars to KCM for years and would recommend them to absolutely anyone who needed work done in the Champaign/Urbana area. This is the only place Ive ever felt absolutely confident that I wont be roped into paying too much or tricked into unnecessary repairs.The shop is family owned and operated. There are no employees covering mistakes from a corporate boss. Pat, Julie and the rest of the staff care a great deal about honesty and doing a job correctly. If one thinks of the ideal family business - operated with integrity and hard work - KCM absolutely lives up to it.They communicate very clearly the nature of the problems, how they intend to fix them, how the costs break down into part/labor, etc. If something is expensive to fix, they dont try to hide it. If its cheap and easy, they often only charge for parts.If they arent experts in some area (mufflers, for instance), they will not hesitate to send you to a place they believe will better serve your needs.I could go on listing the positive characteristics of KCM, but anything else would be redundant.If you have a problem with a vehicle, take it to KCM.

Our car needed some engine work done. We went here to KCM for a second opinion because our repair estimate from CarX was suspiciously high, with several bogus charges thrown in.KCM repaired our car for less than half the estimate of CarX. The staff at KCM were very honest about the work that needed to be done, never pushing any unnecessary replacement parts. We brought the car in at noon and it was ready for pickup by 3 p.m. the same day. Very highly recommended!

The serpentine belt that they put on my car (which cost ~400$) broke in 3 months. Instead of taking responsibility for it, they rushed me into junking my car by lying to me. They are good at simple stuff but when things go wrong they dont take any responsibility for it. They are not reliable.

This place sucks and if you show any form of discontent or confusion about expensive pricing, they’ll refuse you service. Be careful about the “kind” and “loving” atmosphere that you are invited into. All workers were inappropriate, cursing and being extremely lax in the professional setting, touching inappropriately (cracking each other’s backs), and overall unprofessionalism that made me uncomfortable. I was also uncomfortable with the fact that the receptionist rudely interrupted a phone conversation I was having (with my grandfather discussing the really high prices of the work being done and what I could afford now and what work could be held off) NUMEROUS times being extremely rude! Ultimately, they were mad because I was openly discussing that they were overpricing and in retaliation, the receptionist, after openly budding into my conversation so many times, SECRETLY told her staff members to bring my car back around and give me my keys. Told me to have a nice day essentially lol, so yea. I wouldn’t go here. Zero stars if it were possible.

Didnt attach my oil filter correctly, which caused oil leaks. Didnt reassemble my brakes properly, causing them to not work properly, and misdiagnosed a water issue. All in 1 visit.Used to love coming here, now with these techs, I wont be coming back.

While traveling out of state and we had a side window explode (for an unknown reason). After cleaning off the glass I got off at the first exit and saw KMC. I walked thru their door at 5pm on a Friday (they close at 5pm). The lady at the desk was incredibly sweet, caring, and generous. She offered to tape up the window with plastic and cardboard. After taping it up I offered cash to thank her for her time and materials but she wouldnt take it. She was sincere as she was caring. If I lived within 50 miles of KMC Id patron this place going forward. I hope my review will encourage others to do so provided KMCs generous actions.

I am very happy with the care and respect these people give their customers. We rented a Penske truck from them last year, and they truly were terrific to deal with! Julie drove to Peoria to pick up extra packing blankets for us and delivered them to our shop in Tuscola at no charge, plus she waved the entire fee for renting the 20 dozen blankets, since Penske had failed to have them ready for us. Would definitely recommend them!
