I would have given it a Zero if i could. My quick grocery run was ruined and took an extra hour. I simply needed to purchase and airfill some balloons.I wasnt sure if i pay with the florist or at checkout, there was an older lady at the station and i said excuse me probably ten times to ask, she didnt even so much as turn around. I had to go and find another attendant in the fruit section who came to get her attention and she answered rudely that she was attending to someone else. I waited for over ten minutes and my infant started to fuss, he too had had enough clearly. I decided to go on with my grocery list and return after.When i came back i found the lady on a phone call and again she did not look at me nor attend to me for over 20 minutes at which point i decided to go and check out my groceries and forget the balloons. At checkout i expressed my frustration to the attendant who was very kind and friendly and he promised to blow up the balloons after checking out my groceries. When we got to the florist she started attacking both the attendant and myself asking him who he thought he was then proceeded to yell at me asking me whether i didnt see that she was on the phone. I did not respond, at this point if i said anything it was going to be terrible so i kept quiet. Like this all wasnt enough, She asked if i wanted them on a clip or weight and i said weight but she proceeded to put them on a clip. I politely asked to have them on a weight and in her haste of anger lost one of the balloons that flew away to the ceiling. At this point i had to go back to pick out the balloon again and hand it over to her. And i thought well its finally over but well Noo👎!!!She asked me to pay, to which i responded that i had already paid when i Checked out the rest of my groceries. Clearly you could tell all my groceries are already checked out but well she didnt believe be and was rudely telling me there is no way i did because i was supposed to checkout with her. I tried to look for the receipt and thank heavens the guy that checked me out was close and i called him to confirm. Mind you i had a baby in my arms this whole time who at this point was also so done with all this BS. THIS WOMAN WAS EXTREMELY HORRIBLE!! THE WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. SHE DOESNT BELONG IN RETAIL. SHE NEEDS A NEW JOB (probably one that doesnt deal with people).

Years ago, Schnucks was the high-end supermarket in Champaign-Urbana. They offered more unusual and (in some peoples minds) more snooty products than other stores. They also were the most expensive store in town. I sometimes shopped there, however, because I live within walking distance.Then came their about-face. They drastically lowered their prices nearly across the board. Moreover, they began carrying more store brands, and Full Circle brand organic dairy products. They began offering more options for organic/free-range beef and poultry. They began carrying more organic produce. For years now, I have done most of my grocery shopping at Schnucks.I try to cook ONLY with meat from free-range animals. I can find less expensive items at Aldi; but its way out on the edge of town, and Im rarely willing to drive that far just to save money on a handful of items. And I can find less expensive organic meats and produce at the local Coop store, which I pass on my way to Schnucks; but again, I dont like to go to that much extra trouble just to save a small amount of money. Schnuckss organic produce and organic/free-range meats arent THAT much higher than those at the other stores that Im willing hassle multi-store shopping. There are a few items that I nearly always buy at Aldi or at the Coop, because Schnucks just doesnt carry them (e.g., Aldi has cheap organic canned beans; and the Coop has organic tomatoes, which Schnucks never carries). But in general, I find 95% of what I need at Schnucks. Dont misunderstand me: The vast majority of Schnuckss products are what any supermarket carries, and they are very competitively priced. I emphasized organic/free-range items only because, although theyre a teeny proportion of the stores offerings, theyre disproportionately important to me.Schnucks also has such things as OTC pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc., that neither of the other stores offers in a substantial way.Schnucks employees are universally friendly. That goes a long way toward making shopping more enjoyable. I recall only one instance when an employee was unconscionably uppity toward me. I went to the trouble of mentioning this to the manager. The next day she was gone.The pharmacy (recently converted to a CVS pharmacy, but with the same personnel) is a big plus. Its convenient. And its REALLY nice to walk up to the window and be greeted by name! They are friendly and helpful. A year ago I was desperate to get an Rx filled, but it was closing time. After my phone call, the pharmacist stayed open long enough for me to drive from my home and present my prescription. That wouldnt happen, I suspect, at most pharmacies.Perhaps the weakest aspect of the store is its seafood section. There is a long chest freezer filled with a large variety of seafood (possibly more than in most other local stores), but its often difficult if not impossible to figure out which price labels go with which products. I often dont even bother to shop for seafood, since its such a pain to figure out pricing. I have lobbied for years for them to have a separate section dedicated to sustainably caught/raised seafood, so that shoppers wouldnt have to look up items on phone apps from Monterey Bay Seafood Watch and other organizations. They would be the ONLY store in town to offer such a valuable service, and I believe it would bring in many more customers. But management has never been interested.The only other reason I have given Schnucks only 4 stars is that in the past few years I have visited Texas, where I visited HEB stores. Omigosh! They are a consumers dream! I cant give to Schnucks the rating I would give to an HEB should one open up in Champaign-Urbana (alas, not gonna happen in my lifetime). But it’s an all-around store that offers nearly everything I need, has really good prices and friendly people. I am quite happy with Schnucks.

Great variety of groceries including ready food from the deli. I only wish theyd put some salt on their fresh pretzels.

Clean. Everyone wearing masks. The cue to check out was very covid safe. Staff at check out was wiping down check out between customers. Great savings. Saved as much as I spent!

I used to like this Schnucks. Had the opportunity to deal with Doug and Sam the manager and asst manager. They are rude and treated me horribly when I was trying to get good customer service with a issue I was having with my shopping expierence. I would not recommend anyone shop here. Iam now a regular shopper at Meijers.

This is a very authentic and interesting market. It is amazing to see all types of food items from all over the world considering the physical space of the market. We were able to find a special brand and blend of tea that I have been searching for and could not find even in Amazon

I just dont know what to think of the person managing the self checkout. I had scan a bottle of alcohol and the message notice was something about the attendant to check my ID. She just looked at me and didnt make a make a emotion for me to come and see her or her come to me. I left the alcohol at that check out and proceeded to another. During that time she left the alcohol on their self-checkout so I took the alcohol and gave it to her and ask her why she just stood there and looked at me.

Very clean store though slightly on the pricey side.

This is a good supermarket, but not the lowest prices. Selection is very good, other stores are disorganized leading to them not having things I expect to find on the shelf. If you like having your groceries bagged for you, it almost always happens here. Produce is better then average, but pricey and in this area the selection is not great. They way they implement the virus safety protocals is a little irritating, but thats better then not doing enough. Less then half the shoppers follow the one way traffic signs, so why have them? Really it is less then half?

Pricey but the produce section is the best in town

Schnucks on Mattis is my neighborhood store but I had some things to do in Urbana so I decided to pop in there while I was in that neck of the woods. I would have given 5 stars but one of the items that I was looking for was rather elusive and it took me a while to track down an employee. Well, when I caught someones attention he sent me back in the same direction I had just come from. I eventually found my item but spent about ten extra minutes looking for it.

Cleanest store in this area

Tried to buy my kids some GoGurt. These expired July 16th; today is Aug 15th....horrible product. Will not be shopping here again!

Well honestly this place would normally get a 5 star from me, but the deli really brought the score down. I called and asked what time the deli closed. They said 9 oclock. We get there at 750 and its all but shut down completely. Why did i come here?

The unfriendliest staff you have ever come across. Always. Usually I think it’s funny but today I genuinely needed assistance and got an eye roll in my face because she didn’t want to be disturbed and get up from her seat I guess. Or do her job? Pretty sick of it. It’s enough to make me change stores. I’m a friendly person and it’s weird going to the store just to go grocery shopping and being treated poorly and leaving feeling bad. That’s not good.

I love Schnucks, one of the stores in the area i have been shopping at the longest. Smaller than the one in Champaign, still has a good selection. Quality produce, good gluten free choices, beautiful flowers.

Schnucks is a very nice grocery store. Well priced, good quality, several options. Cant get any better for a chain store. Gotta say they great vegan ice cream options!

Convenient to north-central Urbana, open 24h. Good selection of cheeses and full-service grocery store butcher/fish counter. Friendly, helpful staff and a good selection of most products. Includes a pharmacy (limited hours). Produce can be a bit spotty for peppers and smaller bulbs (e.g. shallots), but otherwise a fine grocery. Self-checkout stations not open 24h.

Enjoy their deli and meat/seafood selection. More expensive than other stores but specialty items are worth the price. Spacious, great customer service and plenty of parking. I will shop here again and probably often.

NOTE: The tools we used to do the investigation is HIGHLY CLASSIED!!!Humanity Leadership Skills!!! Awful management leadership, bad customer service experience, and awful Officer Friendliness Skills. I have seen a Gentlemen ask to warm up in the building after it has dropped 0°F! The Security Guard, Customer Service, and Management of Schnucks asks the Gentlemen to leave Schnucks. The Gentlemen was found missing after his hands and whole body was turning purple! He looked very weak and was shaking from being frozen outside!!!

I didnt like how I had to take my Id to the self checkout cashier that was clearly comfy on the stool she had to sit on. I feel they should be walking to the customer.

Great selection of craft beer. When I dont feel like driving across town to one of the larger stores, this is a great alternative. Also carries local stuff.

The cake was very beautiful but the cake was very dry and kinda stale too so i will be bring my cake back tomorrow and schnucks Bakery ruined my moms birthday her big 40th birthday so thank god we baked a homemade cake to have for back up if we didnt have the cake we made we wouldnt have had a cake for my moms birthday for tonight

This place has a good selection of baked goods. They have delicious cakes, a wide variety of donuts and bangles. There is also a wide variety of other pastries and cookies. If you want a good birthday cake or cupcakes this place is my number one choice.

Great place. They got cheap but nice quality stuffs, especially the ones in $1 section. Ive tried dish soap, cleaning sponge, ointment, etc, pretty satisfied with most of the products (not dish soap, seemed to be diluted too much). Also, the dairy/cheese section is a must-go section for me. They got a lot of good cheese and dairy products.

I shopped, they had stuff. What happened after is my fault 😕

Their gluten-free section is large, I always thought that was nice even though I dont shop for gluten-free products. Their produce is always fresh and there are often sales. It does lack some variety in certain sections, but overall its a nice grocery store.

Excellent choice of food, but it is a bit pricey.
