Employees are nice sometimes hard to find the things you need there but other than that its pretty good store they do have a large variety however of different things to buy

Just be careful in the parking lot because the way things are going these days anything can happen. A strange man came out of the middle of nowhere and was about to pull a gun on 2 of my children for no reason. It is quite a few weird people that be posted up over there so be careful. Just thought that that was very important to share. Never experienced anything like that before.

Dry packaged products are fine but I wouldnt buy the meat. Idk about the rumors about maggots in the meat but Ive purchased name brand lunch meat from there twice and it was slimy with a foul odor. Had to throw it away both times because I didnt keep my receipt.The Save a Lot liquor store right next door has cigarettes for $5.35 though and they arent horrible! Def worth the trip walking there for more than $3 less on a pack.

Ive been going to Save-A-Lot for over 3 years. I give it 5 stars based on other discount stores. It wouldnt be fair to compare it to Schnucks, now would it? Its always clean and well organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Its never so busy that you cant get in and out quickly if you must. The produce is the least impressive of any grocery store, but then I dont think people who go there are much into produce. The meat department, on the other hand, is very nice as they have staff on hand just for that department. The frozen food section is vast! Its sort of the counter balance to the produce section, but again, I think their clientele prefers it that way. You could easily live on their frozen food, alone, and never get tired of the selection. This isnt the cheapest grocery store in town, but they provide bags, dont force you to return your cart for a quarter rental, and theyre centrally located near downtown Urbana. I really like Save-A-Lot!

When I originally made this review, there was a male store manager working at the store. Morale was good, it looked good inside and it was fuctional. Then he was transferred. Since then there is this... woman who runs the store. *If you want to call it that*And it looks horrible. Most of the staff dont work, the original crew has been run off, and it just looks like a building with products thrown all over the place to fill a space. Save-A-Lot is a discount store but it doesnt have to look like The Bargain Bin. Its a shame what the store has deteriorated into because of the current management and her immediate supervisor.When you end up in a conversation with another customer, a perfect stranger, (just outside of the store) about how terrible this woman supervisor is and about how this store has become such a disgrace ...all before you can even go in shopping, then your reputation is now starting to precede itself in a negative light. If that was their goal, then they obtained it. Way to go Neiman Foods.

Good selection

I’m going to say I’ve never actually been inside this building. It seems very run down and until last month I didn’t even realize it was still open. I thought it had been abandoned years ago until i used their parking lot to turn around and realized all of the cars. Most of them are for parking for businesses around the area. It’s a strange place.

I shop alot at save alot. Its close and convienant to my home. The employees are fast becomming like friends always have a smile and willing to help me in any way. Like the other day i was in the liquor store part and they were out of my favorite chips. Albert the fulltime day clerk was quick to run over to the store and get more for me. Hes a great asset to that store always has a smile and quick to help in any way. I enjoy shopping there, its a friendly happy place to shop!

Dairy, processed food, meat, some fresh veggies & fruit, household goods, lots of candy, cookies, chips etc and good prices. Lots of frozen food.

The store seems filled with the worst kind of food junk leftovers out of date. Its patronized by many impoverished.The PUBLIC bathrooms were unusable on two occasions -often disgusting. The city of Urbana gave a million dollars to Green street realty for apartments, why not to Save a lot for a full service self cleaning bathroom?

First time I had a problem with this Person they did not want me to take a cart out side. I said why would you do that they put my stuff in a small basket I explained that the other part of the store i will be using the cart to finish my shopping that is the liquor store. Then I asked are you serious your telling me in front of everyone not to use a shoping cart to shop with next door. She said yes you do not need to.I contacted the manager and told them.when the new manager came and took over the store what a wonderful nice man and the place is much better ran from my point of view. I explained to him that employee does not like me i have nothing against her but she treats me very bad when I am there. What have I ever done besides walk in pay with cash and walk out.I worked from 3 am till 7pm taking care of customers. just befor 7 ran to the store to get my .I am sorry close to closing I guess but I yeled for some one to check me out. And she looked around the corner i figured she was sweeping and was going to put the broom away. I waited a minute and then looked around the corner and she had no intention of comming to check me out . I went next door and told the manager if you you all do not want me to shop here just say so. I have only been polite and kind except when he said.You know our operation here. I said I do. Well sir I waited I yelled she looked and then blew the customer off.Look AllI want to do is walk in your store wait in line pay for the goods you sell. What is so hard.not be called a cracker under the woman voice or be told I know the operation here.I have only had two bad times there and both with the same employee.This will be in our local news paper. I own a Bicycle shop and trust me if I treated my customers this way I would go broke. And you all would get no money. If your white hope you do not get the black woman that calls white people crackers.

The cashier here at the store on N. Broadway in Urbana IL. was very rude, and instead of him ringing my food up as he took it out of the basket, he was sitting it on the side and I was getting confused about what my total was, Im not ever shopping here again unless its my very last option
