In D.C. after cross country trip from west coast in my rv. I scheduled an appointment with County as the overdrive/off light had been flashing, indicating something might be amiss with the transmission. They ran a diagnostic and test drove the vehicle. Also topped off the transmission fluid. Free of charge. Hampton expressed his thoughts as to the condition of my vehicle and recommend that nothing needed to be done at present and that I could head back west, which took a weight off my shoulders. I feel the folks at County are professional, honest and forthright and would not hesitate to bring my car or rv there If I ever needed transmission work in the D.C. area.

Hampton and County Transmissions are amazing! My Jeep needed a new transmission last year, and the mechanic I usually use quoted me at over $1,000 more than what County Transmissions was able to do for me. Plus, my mechanic was only going to install a used transmission, whereas County Transmission rebuilt me a new transmission that came with a warranty - which gives me a huge peace of mind. I drive an hour to get here, but it is most definitely worth it! I HIGHLY recommend them! Not only did a save a lot of money, but they are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.

I installed it myself and they ensured I had what I needed to get the job done and assisted with any issues I had. After installation they did a road test and inspected the installation. One of the most professional and honest service firms I have dealt with in 50 years. They rebuilt my 2014 Ford Escape transmission in November 2020. Over the winter it developed a coolant leak which possibly could have been caused by the transmission repair, and it was subsequently repaired in April 2021 by another shop. I then took the vehicle back to County, and even though it wasnt certain that County was at fault, Hampton (owner) reimbursed me the entire repair bill from the other shop without question. Outstanding service all around!

I have a 66 Corvette in excellent shape. Its my baby and I needed some transmission work and a new clutch. I do not take my vehicle to just anyone. I was referred to Country Transmission and worked with Hampton. I am pretty knowledgeable about my car and Hampton gave me a fair estimate of up to 1800 if I recall. He was replacing a tailhousing, replacing a clutch, fixing my speedo and putting on my neutral/reverse safety switch. I dropped the car off on Monday afternoon. I provided the parts. He called me a day later, informed me that I had purchased a clutch that was the wrong size. He obtained the correct lux clutch at a very fair price. He was completely transparent and honest about a normal markup. Picked the car up on Friday and its drives great and I cannot say enough about this family shops honesty and professionalism. They were great and my bill was 1200--over 600 less than the estimate. Its very difficult in this area for some reason, to find great shops who are honest. I only wish Hampton and his guys did more mechanical work as well. As another example, I called and I think I spoke to Michael. I asked about possibly replacing the trans fluid on my 97 Land Cruiser, which has 180 K miles. He actually recommended against it for some very good reasons. Please try and find a shop which is this honest! I will be their customer for ever and will tell everyone about my great experience there. Thanks again--great guys!

I couldnt be more thrilled with County Transmissions! I found myself in an absolute nightmare scenario -- transmission failing in the middle of the highway. AAA took me to a shop local to my NW DC address, but I was skeptical of the initial quote I received for the repair, which was a full transmission rebuild on my Ford Escape. I did some research and was impressed with CTs reputation, and so decided to request a quote online. Michael very quickly got in touch and was extremely responsive over the course of the next day, answering all of my questions over email in detail and offering a very reasonable quote. I decided to have my Escape towed out to CT, which Michael helped me to arrange with a tower they use often -- so convenient, and a relief for me to know that I could handle things in the middle of the workday from my desk! Throughout the rebuild process, Michael was communicative, professional, and friendly, letting me know how things were going over the phone. The team at CT also discovered that an axle boot was dry rotting and included that in their repairs; Im so thankful for their keen eye! On pickup day, I gave them a little bit of notice that I was on my way, and my Escape was all ready to go upon arrival. Final price as quoted initially. Great to meet you and the team, Michael -- she runs beautifully! You have a customer for life!

I took my 2005 Honda Pilot to other supposedly reputable shops closer to where I live but ended up going back to County Transmission as I had used their service for 2 other vehicles 15 years prior. If you need Transmission Service look no further! County Transmissions in Vienna, Virginia is the BEST transmission service in Northern Virginia. Theyve been in business for almost 50 years, which says a lot. I bought a Dodge Ram van that wasnt shifting correctly. County Transmissions took it, diagnosed it and within a small amount of time rebuilt the entire transmission. Its been a few weeks and still works flawlessly! We couldnt be more pleased with the level of service they provided. They are very friendly, professional and the pricing is extremely reasonable. The gentlemen who work here are so respectful and patient. My car was in the shop fast and issue diagnosed shortly following.As a woman, it can be pretty difficult to find Master mechanics or just a mechanic in general that doesn’t take advantage of a young woman who doesn’t have car knowledge. I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently had warning lights come on indicating the 4Wheel Drive System needed service. The check engine warning light came on as well. My primary mechanic referred me to County Transmission, because the 4Wheel Drive warning light indicator was a repair they did not handle.I called County Transmission and spoke with Mike, who I believe is the owner’s son and dropped the car off that night. Mike called me back early the next day to confirm that is was just the warning lights I was having issues with, then called me back early in the afternoon and told me the 4Wheel Drive System was in good order. A big relief! He said my Jeep just needed some fluids topped off to clear the check engine light. We made arrangements to have the Jeep left for pick-up with the key and invoice locked inside. Mike told me no charge, just come back when/if I really needed some transmission work done. Does anyone in business do that anymore???Obviously, time was spent checking the warning lights, clearing the warning lights, and someone also spent time toping off fluids. Time and material was spent working on my Jeep, at no charge. Integrity is a trait long lost in business, at least in my view. This gentleman and this company still have it! Heaven help me if I actually need transmission work one day, but if I do, the Jeep is going to County Transmission. Thanks again Mike, you are true gentleman!

I cant say enough great things about this place. I was in a nightmare situation with my Ford Escape with need a new transmission. I initially took my car to a Ford dealership that quoted me an astronomical price and we quickly found County Transmissions and decided to go with them based on the reviews. They had the car ready when they said it would be ready and they even brought me my car because I was working night shift at the hospital and was unable to pick it up before they closed. I truly cannot recommend this place enough. We were never placed on hold, the individuals I spoke to were always extremely respectful and they made a process that was very frustrating much easier.

Rebuilt transmission failed after 20K miles.I had transmission issues with my honda pilot. Had it towed to County transmissions, they suggested rebuilding the transmission rather than fixing what was only broken since I would be back within a few 1000 miles.Well, 12 months later, transmission issue again. However, County has agreed to repair per terms of their warranty(3 years/150K miles). However I am somewhat puzzled that I am having an issue within about 12 months/20K miles.Glad county transmission is standing behind their word and fixing the issue.However I would prefer to have 0 issues for the duration of the warranty - which is why i picked them given their otherwise stellar reviews. I will update the review to a full 5 star rating if I do not have a recurrence of a transmission issue after this fix.

UPDATE: Got a call from the owner over this, he immediately tried to make things right by offering repairs at cost and working with me to make things whole. Im not sure what Im going to do, but I appreciate the responsibility of the shop taking ownership and being willing to make things right. I would recommend this shop. Edit #2 after having talked to them over some other car related issues with this, they really do stand by their work and work to make things right and do things the right way. My car originally got fixed extremely quickly and everyone has been friendly and communicative ever since, if I ever have transmission problems again (I hope not) this shop will be my first stop, as will it be the first place I recommend.I had just bought a car and the transfer case blew (and it was missing a rear drive shaft, it was AWD). Nervous I got scammed I asked them to do a full inspection of the car before fixing the transfer case (as Im a student and needed to decide if it was even worth it to fix this which I communicated to them), which they said theyd do complimentary.They came back with only a ball joint issue, so I paid the 1700 and it got fixed within 4 days. I took it to my shop at school and found out there was another 1600 worth of brake and other issues that needed to be fixed, and when I asked County about it they said they stopped the inspection at the ball joint problem (figuring that was enough for my budget). I wish they would have finished the inspection as I wouldnt have gone through with the repairs.Otherwise Michael and the repair guys were all very friendly and the repair was done extremely quickly and they were very communicative through the whole thing, and even after they have been friendly to talk to.

Three rebuilt transmissions and counting - not one ever has given a problem after being rebuilt. I have a fleet of vans, each gets 500 miles/week. We drive them till they are dead. We only use County Transmission, they are the only option you should consider.

Truth, passion, and fairness! My CLK350 had a whining noise in the transmission area. A auto repair shop wanted $3600 to repair—I had to tell the mechanic where to look! Mercedes dealer wanted to replace entire transmission—about $8000! County Transmissions replaced the torque converter and trans fluid pump for a very reasonable fee. The CLK is silent and runs very well. Thank you Hampton and everyone else who worked in the car. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

My daughters trucks transmission went out and had no idea where to take her truck. I asked a trustworthy friend where to take our vehicle for a new transmission and he told me about County Transmission. I called them, they were very friendly and very supportive. They said we could bring it in that same day. This ahop is a family-owned business and they had her truck ready to go in less than 2 days. I did not Shop prices but from what I understand they were very reasonable in their prices. I highly recommend them! They went beyond the Call of Duty and made sure everything was safe for her to drive that truck.

I find these people to be very honest. I took my car because I felt that something was wrong with the transmission, and they confirmed that the transmission needed to be replaced. However, they advise to take it to my dealer because the car still was under warranty. they gave a diagnosis, kept my car using their space for a day, and gave me a ride to the metro station, and did not charge a dime for all this. I know I would have been charged a significant amount of money in other places for this. I dont know how to say thank you to them, so Im writing this review.

In mid June 2017 my vehicles check engine came on and it quickly was diagnosed as a transmission problem. My mechanic recommended County Transmissions.From the first phone call to the finished work, County Transmissions did an outstanding job! The staff was very friendly, helpful beyond normal customer service, and the work was completed in 2 days instead of the originally quoted 6 days.I spent just over $3,500, which is a very competitive price for a rebuilt transmission. What sold me on getting the work done here was their warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles, and on a 13-year-old truck with 140,000 miles on it thats money well spent.Nothing but a positive experience! Ill recommend them to anyone and will return in the future for any necessary transmission work.

My transmission went out on the way to work one Friday. I called County Transmissions to see if there was anything on the spot they recommended I do to get my vehicle to a safe location. I spoke to Mike and Jean on the phone and they were very helpful trouble shooting what my problem was. After talking to a few places Country Transmissions was the most knowledgeable by far and helpful. I brought my truck in for a transmission rebuild and they had my truck back to me in two days for the most reasonable price I could find. I had several questions they walked me through about transmissions in general and got me back on the road fast.I recommend you call them if you have any general questions or need any work done. They were great, fast, and reasonably priced.

The front of my 2011 Ford Escape was intermittently shaking like the motor wanted to leave the SUV. My normal garage could not find the problem and gave it to County Transmissions to look at the transmission. They found the transmission was OK but a front brake was intermittently locking up and causing the shaking. If I do have transmission problems, I will definitely come back to County Transmissions. Not just because they did not charge me for the time they spent, but because they pay attention to the total car, not just the transmission.

Six months ago I was referred to C.T. and had them service my 96 Buick with 130K miles. Upon discovering a slight leak of trans fluid I had them take a look. Some pan bolts had loosened. If you are looking for the best driveline shop in the area, look no further!I first found out about County from a few members at my gym that work here, and before I even set foot in or even called the shop, they answered all of my questions. Talk about customer service!Job #1: I was tired of my Grand Marquis slow grandma-like shifting, so I spoke to Hampton about doing a shift kit. Wow, what a difference! In less than two hours of labor, and the best price I could get anywhere I was driving off with a whole new vehicle. Way better than factory, and definitely one of the most worthwhile mods Ive done to the car.Job #2: I had a problem with my old rear-differential assembly as it kept chewing through axles. So I scored a used one from the junk yard and had it put in at a different shop that had time same-day to install as it was sticking out of my trunk. Wow, what a headache that became. After 3 weeks of noises getting progressively worse, I knew it was time to visit County and ask for help. Hampton, friendly as always, told me what the problem was and what we needed to do. Im so glad I talked to him, he was able to save that differential from a catastrophic failure and made it run as good as new. Wish I had just had him rebuild my original one to begin with!Thats TWO jobs well done, and the best price in town for both. [Updated] I had my car towed here after the clutch failed on the interstate nearby. I was puzzled, because my regular mechanic had just repaired it by replacing the master cylinder. I reported this to the shop. Owing to some confusion on both sides, the shop replaced the same part and, not surprisingly, the car was not fixed. An employee apologized and offered me a discount. Despite the miscues, I can recommend this shop. They are pleasant, have candy in the lobby and drove me to the Metro.

I am writing this after 4 months since the job was done on my car. After a botched work at another place, I took my car for a noise issue and a suspicious tranny that was alerted to at the earlier place. I was immediately informed by county transmission specialists that the tranny was perfect. They gave this in writing, which shows their level of confidence. I was highly impressed. Work was done with pin point precision on the noise problem that I had for many months. Till date, 4K miles on, car is running well. I have a 1 yr warranty on parts and labor, which makes me feel good. Clearly, its a place that I will trust. These guys are awesome. Very honest and in high demand (it may take time to have your car worked on). My daughter had her entire transmission replaced on a newly purchased Lincoln MXC. The owner worked with the warranted company to get the most from the company, including the new not rebuilt tranny. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change. They found a leak from transfer case and asked for $$$ to fix it. I then brought my car to County Transmissions and they had the leak fixed with no charge! I would highly recommend County Transmissions if you have any transmission problem.

A bunch of repair shops in northern va outsource transmission work to this shop. Thats how I wound up there.A friend who lives 2.5 hours away in a parts shop had heard very good things about them, so I went into a full transmission replacement for my Honda with a lot of confidence.Hampton the owner is super nice and walks you through everything. The shop as a whole is really nice and seems very genuine, not creepy or anything. The shop doesnt call a lot while theyre working, like I had to check and make sure my car even made it there via tow truck, but if you call them theyre really detailed and nice in walking you through everything.As you probably know, transmission work in general is expensive but County Transmissions prices are fair. I even talked with a mechanic where I grew up in southern va (stuff is a lot cheaper there) and he said the quote I got was fair, regardless of location.The end price of the job was about $300 higher than the quote so maybe keep that in mind when you go to County Transmission, but the additional time/parts they put on seemed worthwhile while they had access that would otherwise be blocked by the transmission. Count Transmission doesnt really call about additional charges while they work so try to call them and stay on top of it.The work was done fast: the shop I originally took my car to estimated a full week. It turned out to be 3 days.All parts and labor have a 3 year or 35k mile warranty. Really happy with that.Shop offered to pick me up from the metro which was nice.Overall highly recommended if you have a transmission problem. Ive only had my car on the road for a couple hours but it acts better than it has in months and Im confident in the workmanship. The warranty speaks for a lot and I think these guys really know what theyre doing.

If your transmission is shot, like mine was in my old Honda Accord, they checked it out for me and honestly told me the replacement was not worth the value of the car (ok, fair enough, the old Accord was a hooptie). They sent me on my way without a penny owed and wished me well. The AAMCO shop I previously visited was full of swindlers just begging for me to drop almost 3 grand on a car worth half that.
