The two guys Chris and Desmond who work in the office helped me and my mom through the process of renting units together. They both were amazing and did a wonderful job on explanation of our lease terms and different payment methods. They were very kind and great customer service. It’s great to know you have great people to work with at the storage place with our valuables. 10 plus to both!!

Came to store to close out my deceased brother’s storage unit. After properly checking my legal documents as they should the GM Desmond was awesome. Got everything taken care of and even printed my shipping labels. Place is clean and neat. Totally recommend.

This climate controlled storage facility is very well maintained and exceptionally managed. Ive been using this facility for five years and my belongings are still in good condition. The manager, Desmond, is very customer oriented, helpful, and went above and beyond to facilitate my storage unit transfer. He was simultaneously training a new employee, with care and patience. I highly recommend using this facility for short or long term storage.

The Staff were fantastic (Five stars) however the facility needs some updates. When I first reached out to them for a storage locker, I was informed that two of the loading Bay Doors were broke and could not be used. A month later on moving day, they were still broke and only one of the two functioning doors could be raised high enough to accommodate a 13 foot moving truck. It was in use so we had to unload from the street. Their complimentary moving carts are few and in poor condition. More resources need to go to facility upkeep. Great Staff!

Storage unit was as described. I always found the folks to be very helpful both in person and by email. Everything you would expect from a storage unit company.

Desmond was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Both move in and move out processes were seamless and the facility was in good condition, and the unit was also clean. Tonya helped make the move out easy and was very friendly.

Kind StaffMy girlfriend and I got a large unit at the beginning of the pandemic to dump all of our belongings from our apartments when school went online. Over a year later when we returned to DC for graduation, we went back to the unit to grab some stuff for the summer, and Desmond remembered us from a year ago and offered his help. He remembered we were a young couple in COVID with a tight budget and helped us downsize the unit, which allowed us to take advantage of their monthly deal saving us hundreds!

Climate-controlled, clean, safe, and secure storage at reasonable rates with convenient access hours and friendly, helpful customer service -- I couldnt have asked for anything better!

Not sanitary. Sand, dirt, debris I even made a video! I can see in the unit next to mine, if they have ANY rodents, pest, I dont want them in my belongings ‼️ And I dont like the managers attitude! So I took my business elsewhere. If I could give it no stars I would ‼️

Well... Kinda Bait & Switch Biz. Example: The price is advertised as $59 online, walk-in $79 in 3 to 6 months the price changes a great deal to $115. Why, the market and demand changes the monthly rate. SMH. This is not in them paperwork or advertised. Switched Marketing. Beware and Be warned. Not all storage companies are the same. The $1 for the first month also not what you think.

Excellent experience with CubeSmart. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The unit was clean and secured. I just wish we had access to garbage cans to remove trash and the dollies are quite busted, so you may need to use your own or rent one.

After my older sister unexpectedly passed away earlier this year, Desmond and Furqan went above and beyond to make sure that closing out her account and moving her belongings from the storage facility went as smoothly as possible. I must have called to ask questions or confirm plans at least 10 times and both Desmond and Furqan remembered me and were not only compassionate, but friendly able to quickly and efficiently assist with any inquiries I had. I would recommend this self storage to anyone based on the customer service alone. Im extremely appreciative of the time and patience both of them gave to my situation - it made such a huge difference for me.

This is the 3rd unit that I have rented from this location. The manager at this location is Desmond Macalino. Desmond is always a pleasure to deal with. He is professional and friendly and it makes me want to keep coming back when I need storage in DC.

Easy access and friendly staff.

I used them for short term storage so the one-month free promo really saved me. The check in process was also smooth online with my lock and things neatly placed in the unit waiting for me: tip sign your lease on the day you want your recurring payment. So talk about contact-free, theyre on their game.There arent too many carts but it didnt slow me down too much. Also didnt find myself waiting too long for the elevator. The check out was also very smooth for me.Shout out to Desmond and India in the office who are responsible for the great service!!

My preferred location; I’ve used them twice. We just need them to discard old moving carts to match all of their great service.

It is clean, well lit, and well managed. The only criticism we have is that the carts they supply are in short supply and the ones available are in bad shape.

I stored my personal items at this facility for three years, and I never had a problem accessing my unit. Whenever I had questions, I was able to get someone right away to help. The online billing made things very easy to manage. It was a completely hassle-free storage experience for me, and the facility and units were well maintained, per their promise. Highly recommended.

The manager rendered excellent customer service. He made me feel secure in storing my personal items there. The climate controlled room was an excellent feature that I appreciated as well.

My monthly price increased from $90-something to $190 within 18 months. It’s like they were driving me out, and I was a good renter. No thanks.

Thought they were nice when I stored my stuff... Now Im moving out and theyre charging me for an extra month Im not using! My move out date is 7 days after my billing date (one day past their allowed period of 6 days). They wont even let me pay prorated for the time Im using the unit! Absolutely ludicrous, considering all the crazy COVID stuff thats going on. DO NOT RENT from here!!

Decent. The units are climate controlled and the elevator requires a security code to keep your units more secure.The entire loading dock and elevators smell like urine - more human pee in that area than I have ever experienced. Also, the loading carts they supply are useless. All of them are broken and destroyed. The units also dont have a light, so be prepared to use your phone flashlight alot or have a helper.Staff is really nice.

I experienced rich customer service when I transferred to different unit. The responses from CubeSmart were timely and effortless.

The manager Des was very friendly and helpful. Moving some items in to this CubeSmart was seamless and easy.

The location is in the Eckington community and there are plenty of spots to unload and pack. The facilities offer dolleys and other items to make moving items easier. However, these are only available in the office, which I have found to be closed during the day. I went in on Monday at 2 pm and they closed the office until 3 pm without any heads up. The first month free deal is great, but they could do a better job with new registrations. I received a call the day before my agreement was supposed to start and they never mentioned needing to bring a lock or needing to have storage insurance for $2,000. Because of the lack of information, I ended up paying $60 for all the additions that they never mentioned until I was there signing the agreement. From other reviews, I am expecting a large fee increase in 6 months, so I wouldnt suggest this for long term rental. However, it works for short term well. The employees are nice and will show you a variety of units. Look out for yourself and pick whats best for you.

I do not have any complaints about the facility but I do have a problem with management. During this time of Covid-19 pandemic management/owners have decided to go ignore what everyone is going through. After I was a couple of days late with my payment they decided to call me and notify meet that I was late and they would be following their usual policy of double locking my gate. After speaking to management and asking for some type of relief or discount, they offered to remove the lock for 15 minutes if I needed to retrieve anything. They continue to call me and ask for payment even though I explained to them that I am not fully employed at this time. While I have been a loyal reliable customer for 5 years they had nothing to offer but on their website they are offering half off to new customers. I just think that their management or owner is being very insensitive when most people are finding themselves in a hardship. Hopefully, they can find some compassion

Great place to store your personals

They advertise as climate controlled, but the only climate inside the building is hot and humid. Not good for storage of items that are susceptible to mold and mildew.

Supplies remained undamaged and have no kind of condensation or mold after 2 straight years...

While the facility is a little dated, the staff is excellent, dedicated, and kind. They are proactive and way more than you would expect from self storage. Thank you!

Was trying to make a payment on Monday over the phone and was denied by Desmond and told to try the automated system. Once I tried that the balance was different and I could no longer make a payment over the phone. Call the next day balance doubled and was assessed a fee over $100! I understand I was late but if I was able to make the payment on Monday I wouldnt have had to over spend like this. Makes me feel like youre doing this on purpose! been a customer for almost 5 years I think and its really disappointing.

The customer service was top notch. An error had been made with my account and in addition to apologizing, the staff quickly corrected the problem, went out of there way to make feel comfortable with my unit and made certain allowances due to the error; all with a very pleasant attitude.

Its in D.C., a very nice part of D.C. Youre going to pay extra for that. But it deserves to be in that neighborhood. Its as easy to find as anything is in D.C. I had my stuff in there for a little more than a year. The online payment system was a little difficult to figure out. I dealt with the employees when I moved in and when I moved out. And both times, I received friendly, helpful service. Climate controlled and bug free. The only complaint I had was there the loading bays arent always open. When I was moving out, there was only one bay open and there was a another group moving in. There was some creative maneuvering that had to be done.

I feel that this is a bait and switch business model. I joined in 2014 and my cost was 54.40. Now, three years later its over $82. While, if I joined new, it would be in the low $60s.Great service, and location. Just wish they would be more ethical in their pricing

Great storage facility, though with the price recently changing to double has many consumers looking elsewhere. Other than that, its a nice facility.

Standard rent hikes. My rent has gone up 27% in about 16 months of use. I think every storage place does it, knowing that once your things are there it costs just as much to move them. But still. Awesome way to treat customers.

Great people to work with at this location. They are always friendly, and willing to assist with whatever your needs are. Whenever we receive packages they place them in our unit and notify us of new deliveries. Danny especially goes above and beyond to make us happy, and provide us with the most professional service. The facilities are clean, and well kept.

As far as first impressions go, this facility and their staff, have it going on. Friendly, fast, organized. Efficient and easy process. All that has to hold up now is the safety and security of items stored TBD for how long and moving from 4 to 5 stars.

Our fees have gone from high to exorbitant. We have seen more than $100 increase per month in our rate in two years, and just got another $30 monthly increase. They lure you in with a good rate and then promptly start jacking it up ridiculously. We went from $90 monthly starting, to our new monthly rate : $230. Leaving them asap.

Just moved in today. So far, my experience had been great! Desmond, the manager, was wonderful to work with. Explained everything and walked me through the facility, explained coding and fees. My other facility paled in comparison. Looking forward to a long stay.

Its quite frustrating that the rent is not fixed for your term. They can change the rent at any time with 30 days notice. The most frustrating part is that the customer service has been great, the move in experience is great, but now I am paying 30% more. My company agreed to pay the amount at the onset of the lease, not the current rate, so I am paying out of pocket for the increase. Storer beware.They should move to a model with fixed increases to be more transparent, like nearly any other business. They know its nearly impossible for you to come back when youve gone out of the area and switch storage units, so its a nice good old fashioned bait and switch.

CubeSmart on 175 R St NE has excellent customer service. I reserved a unit online, they followed up with a phone call, I came in to see it, signed some papers and moved in the next day. The monthly rent seems reasonable, although Ive never had storage before to compare it to. Oh and the hallways arent too creepy as long as you get in and out, lol. All in all, im satisfied.

The staff are great. They will extend every courtesy possible. I have been there for 5 years. My business requires storage glad to do it with them.

Overall a very positive experience with this facility. Loading docks and hand-trucks generally available, several elevators, and storage areas are clean and well-lit. On-site management has been friendly and helpful the few times Ive interacted with them, and they sell locks, cardboard boxes, and packing supplies in the office if you need.

Fabulous team and a wonderful sense of community (yes, in a storage unit) built by many long term renters. Incredibly supportive to businesses and organizations.

I have only had this unit for 6 months and the rent has already increased! I am already being charged a hefty amount for my 5 x15 and this rate hike (which they claim they notified me of) makes the amount ridiculous. The customer service rep I spoke to said it is the same thing ALL storage companies do but I know for a fact many wait at least a year before a rental hike and there are some that promise even later increases. He was absolutely no help and just said it was policy. I am now considering moving my items to a different location since I will need storage for at least another 6 to 8 months. This is terrible because it will cost me to move it again but that is better than staying with a place that never told me there would be rental hikes every 6 months! I am only giving this place a 2nd star because the place is clean and the initial manager, Danny, helped me when I first rented the place was kind and quickly switched me to a larger unit when my second shipment came from overseas came in and exceeded the size of the unit I had rented the week before.

Easy, fast service, my go to storage place. It’s never failed me.

We were discriminated against by the staff person on duty Mr. Banner, he put us out of the facility to stand in the 91 degree heat for 17 minutes, claiming it was company policy that he lock the doors and make patrons wait outside during his absence. As I returned to ask a question he was gone, but a white girl was allowed to remain in the facility during his absence. Double standards? They need to post policies or let Black people know they really dont want our business. Ironically, this was a black person trained to discriminate against his own people. SHAMEFUL!!!Additionally, there was a 10% discount offer running, he never mentioned it, my husband asked about it because another person who was on staff the day before told him about it, the person on staff looked surprised when he asked and said he will see what he can do? POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! by a staffer can kill your business!!!!!
