Jon and his team are amazing! At every step along the way, they were kind, courteous, and professional. My Jeep had essentially lost second gear completely and the guys troubleshot the problem without ever once showing discouragement or uncertainty. John and his team are amazing. I was a Service Manager in the area and used John for many years, He was a fantastic business partner and the customers were always happy. Recently I bought a 1975 VW Transporter Westfalia camper bus with a rare automatic transmission. Well, on the way home from this purchase the transmission went out and it had to be towed to Johns facility. John was upfront and honest about his limited experience on these vehicles, still John took on the task of helping me get this fixed for my new wife and growing family. John ended up finding out exactly the transmission type, which was not easy and where to find one, which was only on the west coast. After spending ample amounts of his own time in research and sourcing he was able to get in everything we needed to have a fully functioning transmission that he and my family could stand behind. I would recommend this Ammco to anyone in need of good quality service. I can honestly state that I regret bringing my vehicle to this location. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS LOCATION OR TO ANY AAMCO FOR THAT MATER.I had transmission replaced in my vehicle. Upon picking up my vehicle I begin to experience shaking in the vehicle. With the work done to a transmission things such as an alignment are common. When i returned to Atlanta, GA I had 2 alignments, tire rotations and new brakes replaced on the vehicle. The shaking of the vehicle still did not end. I began to call around to different AAMCOs in the Atlanta. Needless to say this issue AAMCO and the owner of this location Jon Guckenberger did not want to assume any responsibility for nor did they want to assist in any way shape form or fashion. They are pretty much washing their hands for an issue that began upon them touching my vehicle. I would advise if you can avoid this location and this company all together, it would be in your best interest to do so.

I made an appointment online however when I arrived l was told there wasnt any availability. When I told the white male I made an appointment online his response was he sent me a message cancelling it. The unfortunate thing was I never received the message and he never asked my name. I didnt argue with him because my 10 year old was with me. We left and I made an appointment somewhere else.

Very knowledgeable mechanics who were able to help me out tremendously with my Nissan Sentra. They were able to help me out very quickly and were very straight forward with me about my cars problem. 10/10 would recommend.

Honest and Trustworthy! I recently purchased a used car with a warranty, 6 days after purchase the air conditioning did not work, Jon was able to get me in the same day, went over the entire vehicle and the air problem was operator error not mechanical. Honest & trustworthy! My car has been giving me trouble for the last 6 months and no one knows how to fix it. I took it here as they were recommended by my normal car repair (who doesnt work on transmissions) and found them to be very friendly and very helpful. They didnt know what was wrong with my car but worked with me to get some diagnostics that I could take to the dealership to get them to look at my car again (dealership was the only one who deals with this problem because its so rare and they had already brushed me off as imagining the problem). I had an extended warranty on my car and John worked with my warranty company to get the entire transmission replaced at no charge to me. I didn’t have to do any work on my end at all! A very knowledgeable crew. They knew what was wrong with my vehicle just by a test drive. They then plugged it into the computer system to back up their test drive findings. Jason was great to work with. Their prices were fair and work excellent. To top it off, I got a call the next day from Jason checking to make sure everything was to my satisfaction .I know of no other garage that does that. I highly recommend them for your vehicle needs, Transmission or otherwise.

Expensive Yes! But you get top notch professional care and extremely helpful, informative and they were able to do extensive work (rebuilt transmission with 233K miles) in short order. I knew the price going in and they did not up the quote ....I appreciated that. In a time when it seems I feel like I get ripped off everytime I have dropped my truck off elsewhere it is nice to be given a price that matched the work.

Jason there at AMOCO Transmissions was a fabulous Customer Care front man. He took care of everything and never left me hanging wondering when my truck would be ready. Those mechanics in the back did a great job. Im thankful for them all! Women sometimes get mislead when it comes to mechanical issues with their cars but these guys made me feel informed and appreciated.

I cant begin to say enough good things about Jon and his crew. He came to me highly recommended and I now know why. After one of his technicians spent almost three hours diagnosing the issues with my older Suburban he charged me very little. He could have easily recommended a lot of unnecessary parts and service. However, they determined the cost was a lot more than I was probably willing to spend. Jon outlined my options and we discussed the pros and cons of each. In the end the needed repairs was more than I was willing to spend for this older vehicle. I will certainly be back with my other vehicles.

My experience with Jon and Jason was outstanding. I brought my 2003 Honda Odyssey to a couple of transmission shops for a diagnosis and estimate for a transmission problem and ended up having Ammco on Albemarle Road rebuilding the transmission.My decision was based on their extensive knowledge of the Honda transmission, their credibility and integrity. I should note they were a few hundreds dollars more than the other shops, but due to the above stated facts they earned my business.I HIGHLY recommend this establishment.

Bad costumer service !!!

I had a great experience at this AAMCO. I had car trouble late in the day and was stuck waiting for a ride to pick us up after I dropped my car off to be serviced. I cant say enough good things about the owner Jon who kept his store open after hours so that me and my daughter would not have to wait outside in the heat. He called me first thing the next morning to let me know what the issue was and it was fixed quickly. He did a great job explaining everything to me and repairs were done with the upmost quality. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! Giving them 1 star is TOO MUCH in my opinion. I took my car here thinking I had an issue with my transmission. I did not, but they didnt know what was wrong with it neither. And instead of admitting that and NOT CHARGING me, they gave me a bill of $600+ and sent me on my way. So I went to the gas station to fill my tank and gas went everywhere on the payment!!!!! The IDIOTS left my gas tank unattached. HOW DANGEROUS!!!!! And oh yeah...they still hadnt fixed my problem. After they brought my car back in, they gave me some run-around and handed me off to some other mechanic. BUT NO REFUND AND NO APOLOGY!!!! I tried to sue them but of course they hid behind their incorporated status!!!! Even called the corporate office and left a message. The rep never called me back after we spoke for like 30 seconds. Total corporate rip-off. CROOKS AND SCUMS!!!! I WILL NEVER GO TO AN AAMCO EVER AGAIN...EVEN IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT! And I will be sure to use every internet outlet and apparatus to get this message across. This is the truth and you should NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN BUSINESS!!!! The END!

They know their stuff. Came here for a transmission leak, they showed me all the other things that were going wrong with my vehicle that my previous car shops didnt. Its nice to FINALLY have a place I trust, is knowledge, and wont scam me. I will definitely be coming back.Follow up edit: Ive been back a few times and there again right now. I come here for all my mechanic needs. Im still completely satisfied with their experience. They dont try to upsell you at all. Their work sells itself and is why I keep coming back despite having moved further away. Good mechanics are hard to come by and I hope this place never changes.

$2500 GOT US 18 MONTHS AND 5100 MILES. Because we had the 12/12000 warranty they will not stand behind their product. 5100 miles? Great work guys. Guess they like ripping off senior citizens. Be careful with these peoole.

I’ve been a customer since 2009 I believe. I used to drive a 2003 pt cruiser and the transmission went out, which led me to these beautiful gentleman. Ben and Josh had done a lot of work for the cruiser including oil changes.I will now be taking my 2003 Honda Accord to them for some minor work (I pray it’s minor work) lol! These guys I trust and value their opinion on car maintenance.

Im actually extremely surprised to hear the bad reviews about this Aamco being as I had such a pleasant experience. My father is a mechanic and our auto shop has been in the family for over 30 years. So when my Subaru started stalling, my dad immediately asked if there was an Aamco near me. I worked with Jason, John and the mechanic Tim and was pleased with all of their knowledge and eagerness to help. Turns out my issue was a torque converter and there was a current bulletin on the issue. Something my friendly local Subaru dealer failed to inform me of. These guys could have easily charged me to fix this issue, but instead suggested I call Subaru and ask to have it covered by my warranty. Subaru ended up covering the issue in full, saving me $1500. Im not sure of the validity of these negative reviews, because I would recommend this place to anyone. I will most definitely return if other issues arise. Not often you have businesses being so upfront when they could easily earn $1000+ from a customer. Glad to know decent business owners still exist.

Did not have a good interaction with this company. Had a manual MX6 the clutch went out in it, had it towed up to them and got a ride there to talk about the situation I was having he said it wouldnt be a problem and should have it done in under a week. And that he would let me know the cost mid week.One week passes dont hear anything from them mid way through week 2 after calling multiple times and not getting a call back, I go to talk in person. I am then told the clutch was replaced but the transmission is bad after I just paid them $1900.00 and to fix that would take another week or two and $2700.00 i was so frustrated i told them no i just want to take my vehicle somewhere else. During the repairs they let the battery run down to the point it wouldnt start. So I went a few doors down and bought a new battery. Then got the car towed to a trusted friends garage to find out the transmission was still good and they just put the clutch in wrong. I would never recommend this place to anyone its a total rip off.

I came in with a check engine light on and a slow to get to speed vehicle. Being a young female, there is always concern with being taken advantage of. Luckily, i know the basics when it comes to vehicle maintenance and did my research on places to go and found myself at AAMCO. I expected to be told i needed some work on my emissions system. After paying their standard fee for check engine light computer test (90ish dollars) i was told it was something as simple as a part of the car was a bit loose and needed tightened up, which they did for free. That was about 6 months ago and my car has been fine ever since. Glad to find an honest repair shop in charlotte.

Let me start by saying John was a pleasure to deal with. He was a straight shooter and gave me every option available. I took my 06 Expedition in for what I thought was a transmission issue (thanks to the less than stellar staff at a Ford dealership I wont name) and John and his team were able to diagnose the actual issue, which had nothing to do with my transmission (a spark plug/coil problem which was causing a mis-fire in my engine). I had taken my truck to the aforementioned unnamed Ford dealership a number of times and they insisted it was the transmission but John and the AAMCO team figured the problem out immediately. My truck has not run this well in years. I will ALWAYS go to this AAMCO location for any work I need done on my truck or my wifes car (and my kids cars 15 years from now). I highly recommend John and this AAMCO to anyone who needs anything done on their vehicle. You will not be disappointed! THANK YOU JOHN AND THE AAMCO TEAM!

Immediately after having my car checked out, I notice the compartment on my dash was broken. When I confronted Jason, the manager, he calmly said, Were not going to take responsibility for that. Very calculated wording.I asked if he had any explanation as to how it was fine before I dropped it off, but yet it was broken when I picked it up.He said, I think if was broken before you came here, and you just want to blame it on us!I had to wait for two hours for them to inspect the transmission. Why would I waste my time and then make up a story to try to get a $40 plastic piece?Aside from that, after 2 hours they couldnt find what was causing my transmission to slip. As others have warned, stay away from this place.

Worst shop ever screwed up my transmission Im from out of town have to be to virginia not willing to help in anyway other than say sorry your stuck and we will honor the warrantee... refuse to refund my 2700 and had to limp my vehicle to another aamoco shop for them to check it out cuz the clim it was my motor not their 60 mile transmission... horrible shop save your money go elsewhere

Friendly and very helpful people there

I brought in my vehicle because it was overheating and my husband has had his vehicle serviced here in the past. I paid $101.89 for a diagnostic and was given an estimate of $750 to repair the problem. I took my vehicle the following day to another mechanic who did a pressure test and put my vehicle on a lift which showed me where the leak was, my reservoir tank! He acknowledged a hairline crack in the place that Aamco originally diagnosed but in the 30 minutes my vehicle was there the crack Aamco identified yielded maybe 5 drips while my reservoir tank was squirting fluid rapidly! I called Aamco to inform them of this and they said that I just had more than 1 problem. My issue is that a consumer takes a vehicle in to be diagnosed for the problem causing the issue and be presented with a repair plan. Aamcos repair plan wouldnt have solved the problem that I came in with but they still refuse to refund the diagnostic charge. Now they have lost me and my husband will NEVER bring his vehicle back here to be serviced so I hope the $101.89 was worth the bad publicity and loss of 2 potential lifetime customers!
