Convenient location, but that means long wait times, both to get in, and days to wait for any repair. Prices are reasonable, so if possible, its best to just buy parts here, and take them elsewhere for repair.

Always have had friendly services and a great bargain bin selection. I try and make a stop and shop trip here whenever I find myself back in Davis.

Everyone here is really nice and informative. They were really busy when i went but that was because they were trying to provide good information to everyone who was there! Love the bike barn.

I had them adjust my loose brake levers and true-up my rear and front brake rotors. It took six days and $37 to accomplish. The student workers are kind, competent and incredibly helpful. It can be a bit busy though so expect to wait about five minutes before anyone can help you. Dont take that wrong, they will acknowledge you, but they have a very hands on approach with each person and their bike so they cant exactly stop to run over to you. On the two visits I made, the front is staffed by two to three people at any given moment. The store reminds me strongly of an auto mechanics shop and the air smells like it too. They have a decent selection of locks and chains, bikes, tools, accessories and replacement parts. The one thing they seem to lack a wide variety of is helmets. They have a wide selection of three helmets plus one you can get for free, although Im not sure how you get the free helmet. In the end, the place is fairly decent and really helpful for those riding a bike on campus. Im offering up four of five stars because the turn around on the work was rather long, Im used to bike shops with a 72 hour turnaround.

The people here are extremely nice. I got my bike here and the seat wasnt set right but they fixed it for me with no problem. Another time, one employee saw I was struggling to put my tire back on after replacing an inner tube and helped me get it back on. I really regret not getting her name. There are some cons though:Theyre kind of pricey, however I dont regret getting my bike here. There are a lot of cheaper options near campus if price is a concern for you.The wait times for general repairs can be a little ridiculous. This isnt really their fault, because of how accessible they are they get a lot of repair orders all at once. If you have a very small problem, like a popped inner tube, and need your bike fixed quickly, Id either recommend buying the part you need and fixing it yourself or taking it somewhere else because theres a good chance youll be waiting a week before your bike is fixed.Overall, its a great resource on campus.

I had a quite unpleasant experience with this place. I repaired my bike here and was charged 71.19 dollars altogether for labor and a new bike derailleur. I got a call on Dec. 5th from the bike barn, saying that my bike was ready. I paid my money and took my bike away on Dec. 6th, 2019. Then I discovered that the bike made loud noise and was not working properly. I wanted to take it back for check but Bike Barn was closed during the winter break. Urgently needing to use my bike to get around in Davis, I managed to fix it at another bike shop and was told that the new derailleur they sold to me was not compatible with my bike. When I went back to the Bike Barn asking for a refund, I was told that it was not possible because I did not keep my receipt. After I insisted and I managed to find the bank record that showed that I was charged by them for the repair and the new part, and they also found my record in their card deck, I was refunded 58.32 dollars for everything, which was fair enough to me. But overall the experience is less than satisfying, and I found the staff whom I talked to was able to stick to rules very well but seemed to be not very understanding of my specific situation. While I understand the bike barns policy and acknowledge my own negligence in the whole process, my lesson from this is for everyone to keep their receipt till they are sure that their bike is working.

Things I love about the bike barn- pump that works well- free lubrication of gears- easy access (on campus)Things I dont like- how busy it gets (specifically at the beginning of the quarter)^ this makes workers cranky sometimes. Had one bad experience but that doesnt reflect on the bike barn as a whole- prices (better prices off campus)

Its a great service on campus that is accessible and student run, but it can be a shock for some students who dont really know much about bikes (as you can see from other reviews). It can take some time for repairs to be done depending on the replacement, its not always same day and can take a day or two. Labor will cost some $$$, its at least about $5-$15 not including the cost in parts. If you dont like their prices look up some YouTube videos if youre whining. Its reasonably priced.

Some of the workers can be a little snobby, but others are helpful. They do try and get you to fix other things that may not be necessary. And well its honestly not the cheapest place.. like someone else said, go Downtown if you need a bike repair. Umall bike place is good.

Takes super long to get simple repairs done. Everything in the shop is overpriced and labor prices are a rip-off. Just go to a local bike shop in davis!

Must agree with previous negative comments on ripping off prices! I went there for a pedal replacement as I didnt have tools (I had the pedals, so for service only...). Took them 2 minutes, charged $8! Revolting and totally unreasonable! Every university associated service should try to support the student community instead of ripping them off! Stay away from this shop!

Sold my bike here. Joseph was very rude. He knew I had walked my bike there over a mile in the sun and had to sell it right then and here. Ripped me off, refused to honor a previous offer made by his old manager because he knew I was in a rush and had no option but to accept what he offered me. Dirty business.

Tl;dr: Bad communication, didnt follow through on repair promise, didnt take ownership of their mistakes.I came in to have my hydraulic brake repaired. I was told their brake guy wouldnt be in the shop until a week later to fix it. Okay, sure, I can wait a week; I still had some brake pressure so it wasnt dangerous to ride or anything. I scheduled an appointment and rearranged my schedule to make it work.A day or two later, I got a voicemail asking me to call back with the name of the brake manufacturer so they could order the necessary parts for it. I called back a few hours later to give the information, and was asked, So is this to replace the brake pedal? No, I said, the hydraulic pressure is just weak, like I said when I dropped it off. Oh, okay, well have everything ready for you when you bring in your bike as scheduled. Great.I had to rearrange my schedule that day to make it work so I could drive into campus and drop my bike off that morning. When I came to drop my bike off, they could not find my paperwork. The same guy who took my appointment asked, What is this repair for? I explained -- again -- that it was to fix the hydraulic brake pressure. Oh yeah! I remember you now. Okay, I kept your paperwork in this separate pile. Okay, youre good to go! Great.I got a call about 30 minutes later. He asked, What is wrong with the bike? Why are you dropping it off? I explained -- AGAIN -- that I needed the hydraulic brake pressure restored. Okay, thank you.I got another call 2 hours later. They bled the brake and -- oops -- they dont have the part they needed to fix it. So they have to order it, and they wont have it in stock until next week. In the meantime, they bled my brake fluid completely so its now unusable and unsafe to ride on. When I asked why they bled the brake when they didnt have the part, he said, We couldnt have known if wed be able to fix it until we bled the brake. Are you serious?!? If thats true, you probably should have ordered the part you need BEFORE you bled out all the brake fluid.Anyway, I couldnt wait 6-7 more days for this, so I took the bike back and drove it across town to another bike shop where they said they could fix it in 24 hours. Great!Ill never go back to Bike Barn and I recommend you do the same. I get that this place employs mostly under-experienced student employees working part-time, but this is just unacceptable.

Absolutely horrible customer service. The only reason they have any business is because they are centered around 22,000 bikes. GO DOWNTOWN. Its cheaper, faster, and you dont get the feeling they are trying to rip you off.

I had to get my rear tube for my bike replaced, so I went to the bike barn to get it done. It didnt take too long and the service was ok, but after around only 2 weeks of light use its already busted again. I really dont know what to say other than I wasted an excessive amount of money to end up with the same busted tube.

The workers try to take advantage of students by saying you need all of these repairs. This shop should try to support the student community instead of trying to squeeze every dollar out of every customer. Going hand in hand with this issue is the fact that the service and parts are way overpriced.
