I originally took my bike to one of those combo bike-ski-board places for service and after they didn’t even touch my bike for two weeks I picked it up and went over to Nelson’s place, where they fixed my bike in about 48 hours and completely tuned it up. I have a recycled bike that doesn’t look very pretty but it runs great after Nelson and team worked it over. Literally first place that’s been able to really tune things up well enough so the bike works great, doesn’t make clackety noises and can shift into all 18 gears. Really and truly amazing work done by Nelson and team. I can’t recommend these guys highly enough. Thanks for the great service!

Green Bicycle Depot is the place we go whenever were in town because of Nelson. Nelson is a very honest guy who takes great pride in the quality and safety of his rental bikes. He has worked on my personal bike and did a great job at a very fair price. On a previous visit to Davis, we stayed at a nearby hotel that provided bikes for day use. We needed one more bike so we went around the corner to Green Bicycle Depot. Thats when we met Nelson. He rented us a bike and noticed the condition of the loaner bikes we were given by the hotel. He pointed out some problems on our loaner bikes that needed repair and were very unsafe. He fixed then on the spot at no charge just because he was concerned for our safety. Who does that? Id characterize this shop as a rental and repair shop that also sells bikes. If you want a bike repair done right this is the place! If youre in Davis and need a rental bike or bike repair, do yourself a favor and go here. This is a business youll want to support.

4.5 stars. We love our two bikes that were purchased and continue to ride them every weekend. The only reason why I didnt give 5 stars was because they do come off as more of a salesman than there to help and get you fitted correctly. The owner is very nice and will work with you depending on your budget. They have lots of used choices and also a few new. Probably 10-15% of them are new vs. the rest are used. More of the college bike shop you are hoping for to get a quick bike instead of spend $750+ for a new one. The other three staff I think more so were more so there to do services and not help sell bikes. Will return though and am happy with our purchases here! Thank you guys!

Great bike store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Theyll go out of their way to get you the right bike and equipment. In fact, theyll even teach you how to ride a bike if you dont know how. Rates for bike purchases and repairs are fair.

The owner gave me a great price on bike repair and an even greater service! After I had paid and gotten my receipt the owner followed me to my car and helped me load my bike into my car. He also even took the extra step and opened my own driver door for me before saying goodbye. Amazing prices and spectacular customer service!

I went here the other day and it was absolutely amazing. Nelson helped me picked out the perfect bike i needed for a trip with my family up in the mountains. i loved how he helped me pick out the right bike for my height ans also showed me how to switch gears. hes super passionate about bicycles and helping with whatever you need. i cant get over how awesome and friendly the service is compared to other bike shops ive been to. i DEFINITELY recommend this bike shop 100%.

Great shop! I host international students each year, and always bring them here, but I think he does the same thing for everyone! Reasons for my 5 star review: Excellent prices. He is currently not doing rentals, but his sales compete quite favorably with rentals if for 3 months or more. Honest and reliable. Trustworthy. High quality. He does what he says. He also does repairs on bikes not his, and his rates are excellent. Could not ask for better.I read the two reviews that were less than 5, and I am sorry about that, but cannot figure how that could have happened. The owner is amazing.

This shop has very bad practices. I was encourage by the owner to get a better bicycle for $300 and within a month I had to change the tube once and now the rear wheel is broken and in need of a replacement. Bicycle was only used for regular commuting to school. There are tons of better shops out there do not buy from them!

If you plan on buying a new bike, I would most probably skip this place as it lacks in the number of options you have. The bikes do not have price tag on them, it gives a feeling that prices are based on the person buying it so its hard to believe the seller.I had gone there to buy road bike in the range $600 to $700. For this budget I got better deals with better features in other bike shops in Davis.Decent for repairs and if you need a second hand bike(but again no price tag).

Ive had two horrible experiences here. The last time the mechanic tried to sell me a wheel for twice the retail price and also didnt do the work I suggested and I ended up with a flat before making it home. Very shady dealings all together and I question the integrity of this business.

They are incredibly nice -- I got a flat and didnt have my wallet on me, but I walked in and they fixed it on the spot anyway. The owner, Nelson, fixed my flat and lubricated my chain immediately to get me back on my way to work, and said I could just come by whenever I was able to pay them back. (I did, by the way, and left a tip to show my gratitude).I will definitely be going back here for all of my future biking needs in Davis.

This is a nice shop with plenty of choices for a good bike. You can try a test ride on them before buying and Its budget friendly too. Most of all, the owner of the shop is very friendly and has a great sense of humor, he is quite understanding about your budget and choice and suggests you an appropriate choice considering both.I bought mine here and recommended a few friends about this too.

Nelson is amazing!! I took a tumble on my bike a year ago and havent ridden it since. I brought it in to Nelson as a trade in, which he gave me a very reasonable price for, but more than that he found me a bike that fit me. I never knew there was a difference. He put me on a bike that I absolutely fell in love with!! I cant stop riding it!! Better than that was the AMAZING deal he gave me. I will never go anywhere else. Everyone is super helpful and patient at Green Bicycle Depot. I recommend going here rather than the on-campus bike shop if you are a student! The employees and owner offer an amazing service, and the prices are good!

Asked a the tech about their flat tire deal, he confirmed it was still going on. After he fixed the tire he tried to charge me almost 3x the advertised price. I had to call him out and he still charged me double as it was a different inner tube to fix. Dont really care about it because it was still a fair price but I really dont like people actively trying to rip me off.

Their bikes are good, will not cheat you. But its a hard time understanding the mechanics there!

Very fast turnaround (2 days), and they were very faithful to the budget i told them i could afford. there were some unexpected costs, but they reduced the price to stay closer to the number we agreed on.very well run business, and would recommend them and return in the future

I ride to here from Sac on occasion. Great inventory of cool older bikes and they always have that used part I need. Tube prices are the lowest Ive found anywhere which is a plus. And the customer service is very good. My go to shop.

I thought that the bikes were checked thoroughly given the high price for pretty old bikes. However, bike had multiple defects, amongst others a chain that kept falling off.The store owner knew the bike was flawed when I bought it, since I coincidentally met the girl who returned this same bike a week before as she was afraid to use it.

If you are looking for a used bike, this is not your best option. I paid $250 for a used bike. About a week after riding this bike, the wheel came off and caused a nasty fall and the front wheel was ruined. I went back to Green Bicycle Depot and got the wheel replaced (cost $75). The very next week the wheel loosened and was about to come off again. My son parked the bike right away to prevent another accident. We went back to Green Bicycle Depot to return the bike and see if we could recover at least half of our cost. Unfortunately, the owner was unsympathetic and gave us 25% of our cost. Green Bicycle Depot did not seem to care about the riders safety or about customer satisfaction.

I literally bought a bike from them yesterday, have not even ridden it, and they wont let me return it. I bought a bike from Target two months ago and it has scratches on it and theyre letting me return that. I feel jipped because the bike I got was way overpriced for the quality and realized my mistake later in the day. I feel dumb going here. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

We came to UC Davis for a class and decided to stay at a hotel at least 1 mile away so that we could take advantage of the weather to bike. The hotel offered bikes, but mine was in iffy condition: I lost my brakes on the way to class (or never had them), and the handle bars were wobbly. Green Bicycle Depot was nearby so we decided to rent from them.The owner was terrific. I told him I needed nothing fancy as the bike would be parked during classes, but he unwrapped a beautiful, new beach bike. I was worried about it being scratched . No problem, he said. Things happen. He went on to explain that he bought better quality bikes so that customers didnt experience quality problems, and that he changes them out every 8 months to avoid problems that arise at inopportune times from normal wear and tear.I loved the bike. I loved the price. I loved the service. While we were talking, he quietly tweeked the loaner hotel bike to make it safer!!I loved the owner. Obviously, he needs to make a living, but he does it doing something he loves and wants his customers to love, too. (He even offered to inconvenience himself to accommodate us in a particular issue, but I felt that was asking too much.)Its totally worth someones time to check this place out!! The owner and staff are very friendly, and they truly want your experience to be hassle-free and enjoyable!
