Used this Midas for a state inspection. Worker and mechanic were very rude and unprofessional. They damaged my vehicle further and I needed to take it to another mechanic for repairs.

Midas in Fairfax, VA is the only auto shop in Northern Virginia my family and I use. Although I trusted the last manager, the new manager, Brandon, is even better. The man has a wealth of knowledge and makes a point to educate you on your vehicle. He takes the time to thoroughly explain details. Brandon shared with me, he spends hours of his own time in online training and seminars, just to keep up with technology. The service is superb and prompt. Brandon does everything he can to accommodate your schedule.

Worst experience ever I took my car because it had a noise in the back when I was driving and they started writing things that has nothing to do with the noise and they were going to charge me $900 I took my car to onother place and it was just a plastic bag stuck in the inside of the ring!

Excellent guys to work with. They were good and clear communicators. Very reasonably priced. Left the Toyota dealer nearby and got work done here instead for way cheaper. Guys were also very knowledgeable and could walk me through everything they were doing. Nothing to complain about at all. Gonna come back for sure

The manager here is amazing, they were very quick when I came in with my VW Jetta leaking coolant. He even went out to assist his mechanic to find the source of the leak. The manager (I forget his name) gave me some words of advice on how to get the problem fixed (he wasn’t pressuring me to get it fixed there) I would definitely suggest you go there for a quick professional service

Very bad service by the Guy named Brandy, very unprofessional.

Theyre either incompetent or were trying to scam me. Given the pandemic, I try to patronize local businesses, and give them the benefit of the doubt but I wont be going back. Went in for a state inspection, and they told me I had a $900 problem because the replacement bulb on my headlight assembly wasnt working. They failed my state inspection and said Id need a new headlight assembly. I took the car home, popped the hood, looked at the light assembly and it was pretty obvious that the light bulb holder wasnt connected correctly. I set it correctly, and brought it back in. To their credit, they gave me a free 99cent light bulb.

These guys were some of the most honest and best mechanics I’ve ever worked with. The prices are fair, they only diagnose what you ask them to, and they are 100% up front about whether the work legitimately needs to be done or not. They go out of their way to make sure you understand the problem and to help you with anything you need to maintain it. Wonderful guys. I will definitely be back if any further service is needed.

Folks with positive reviews must have been taken for a ride and werent even aware of it. Pay closer attention to the one star reviews. They are very smooth at identifying issues that dont need actual repair. Their fees for labor and parts are outrageous. Theyll lure you in with a low verbal estimate, and before you know it, your actual estimate will be highly inflated. Be very wary.

Update: after a few trips the issues have been resolved and everything is working as it should. If the work was performed to the same quality initially - this would have been a 5 star rating, and the shop would have spent less time and effort on this job.If you get your vehicle serviced here, make sure to follow through to get good results.

We were in Fairfax for the weekend & had an issue with our car later in the day, just before closing. We called & spoke to the manager, Jake explaining we were leaving the next morning on a 200+ mile trip back home. He took us right in, inspected the vehicle & gave us peace of mind ensuring a safe trip home. The tech who inspected the car took me inside, under the lift & explained everything I needed to know. 5 Stars PLUS for these guys.

Ive been here so many times. For inspection, oil changes, new break pads etc. These guys are awesome! They never overcharge, they are always helpful and polite. I highly suggest them.

I came in because I needed and oil change and my fluids topped off. After a rough morning of not having my car start, Clint was a positive, helpful, and professional person to deal with! He kept me posted through all the work and made several calls to get the needed parts the fastest he could. He even originally quoted me less for an item that cost him more-and he gave me the original price on the air filter. Great place I will definitely return to!

The management here is highly disrespectful, the manager on staff how do you say a curse word to describing me and my wife when we came up it was very inappropriate. The technician that took care of you, however made up for it by being very courteous and making sure the vehicle is actually in proper working order.

In 2011 I had a full custom exhaust that I needed put on my car as I was tuning it up, and these guys were the best. I went in on a Saturday morning, and not only were they dedicated to do the job, they also upgraded my exhaust clamps for free, and they did some unforeseen modifications to ensure that the exhaust didnt rub up against the automatic transmission housing.They had plenty of coffee and they kept me informed throughout the entire process.

My car is old and it takes extra effort to close the hood. I got an oil change here (they were polite and on time and the prices were decent), and they didn’t close my hood all the way down. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

I booked an appointment at this location online for an oil change. It gave me a time window btw 3:30 and 5pm. I got there around 4:35 pm and a guy named John refused to take my car in saying It’s too late, I have cars on the lift being serviced and we don’t take cars after 4:30?!!! Then why website says 3:30 to 5pm? I got on the phone with customer service after arguing with him, while talking to an agent, around 4:45 I went back in and the garage was empty no cars at all he just closed the business before its closing time.

Got a state inspection in January 2017 and synthetic oil change in May 2017 here, both times there were no problems with the services and they were quickly done. Price for the oil change was fair and the guy handling the front is nice and easy to talk to. They give you an agreed upon price for the service beforehand and you pay that after the service.For both times, I compared nearby mechanics and mostly every other place around probably wouldve taken hours longer wait than here, so that was definitely convenient. One of the services they did park my car too close to the curb, but none of the other cars had that problem so it was probably a one-time accident.

I took my car in for a diagnosis. The tech that worked on my car was experienced in all fields of diagnosing. The front office was very honest and professional great customer service. I will definitely go back

Went in a few weeks ago after shopping around for a service center that would help me with a catalytic converter problem. Midas by far was the most knowledgeable and the the easiest to work with. They didnt try to sell me all kinds of extras and when it came time to pay the bill they helped me print as many coupons as they would allow to get the price down as much as possible. I highly recommend them.

The employees there at fairfax branch are so rude, seem they don t like their job. I don t recommend going there.

Fast service

The thoroughness of my inspection was pretty amazing considering I only wanted an oil change and tire rotation. They told me about my transmission service requirements and many things I never even thought of before. I am pretty sure Ill come back especially since I plan to keep my car for another 5 to 10 years and because they give me wear specs on tires, brakes and scheduled maintenance I can budget these expenses when they come up predictably. The guy that looked at my car was a Master Tech since 1989 and he told me he studied Physics to learn how to better repair cars. Go see them.

Good mechanics you can trust are hard to find, they work here though. Ive had them fix other shops screw ups several times and always regretted not going here first. The whole crew is great here.

Poor customer service when getting back to me when my car was ready. When I finally got a hold of someone two days after bringing in my car for brake trouble. Only to be told they will need another 2 days to order parts. I took it to another shop that fixed it up in a day at a reasonable rate. I will be avoiding this location in the future.

Better value than dealership garages - I always felt like I was being ripped off by the Ford Dealership Garage so I took a “chance” with these guys... My experience has been better service, better informed, quicker, and much less expense.

Complete scam artists. Wife was given an estimate when all we needed was an inspection, declined the estimate and asked them to just do the inspection. They gave us a rejection sticker? Funny because we went to my original mechanic the same day and it passed. I sent my wife to get the inspection and she made the mistake of trying to save time and went to Midas because it was closer and they tried to hustle her. Women be careful they will try to hustle you.

I went in for an oil change & was quoted almost $600 for new brakes and rotors. I went in alone and felt targeted because if their assumption about my lack of car knowledge. It was explained to me that if I didnt get my brakes changed soon it would be a big issue. I went to another mechanic for a 2nd opinion and was told my pads had 40% left & that my rotors could be turned. I decided to get the pads replaced and did so with parts the same parts offered by Midas for twice the cost. Overall I felt as if they were trying to take advantage and use scare tactics.

Fair price

Took my old rusty truck in to have a y pipe replaced; while it is not the cleanest or most professional looking place, dude did a good job. Did the job with price, and sealed everything up tight with no leaks. There arent a ton of good welders around anymore, this dude did a good job.

Do not take your car to Midas for anything!!!! These people told me I needed new axle seals which I did not actually need. It turns out my transmission was leaking, which I discovered after the fact by taking it to a different shop for a second opinion. Midas then insisted it was the seals so they repaired my axle seals several times and they refused to give me a refund after misdiagnosing my car. The owner Kevin Trump is a crook, I would not recommend to anybody!!!!!

I have worked through the Service Manager, Daniel, for the last few years and now take both of my cars to this shop for everything - oil changes, tire rotations, state inspections, state emissions, brake work, etc. I have found Daniel to be straight forward, honest, timely and available.

Worst service ever and the guy overcharged me 40 dollars for a synthetic oil change. Would have rather gone to jiffy lube if I had known better.

They claim I need new rear brake pads. I can tell they are low but it isnt like it needs to happen today like they say. Then they destroy my locking lug nuts, it is evident they used an impact wrench on them. Last time Ill be there...

This place is absolutely awful. I went in because my check engine light was on. They replaced my catalytic converter, and did some other work, to the tune of $1100. A year later, when my check engine light came back on, the mechanic there told me that it was my catalytic converter, once again, going so far as to say things like It looks like that CC was welded and made by hand, whoever installed it really screwed you. When I told them that it was their shop who installed it, they did replace it again for free. But at that point, I felt more comfortable taking it to a different shop to make sure it was installed properly, and to check on the other work that had been done to it by this shop. Take your business anywhere else.

I am disappointed in this place. At my last service, they failed to check the tire pressure when doing their rotation (it is listed as one of the steps of the full service rotation), failed to place my inspection sticker on my window (that could get me a fine) and failed to properly close my air filter. That is a lot of omissions for a simple job.As for the facility, lets say it is a bit dingy. The TV is constantly streaming and there are only 3-4 chairs. Fortunately there are coffee shops nearby.There are better places nearby, places that are more thorough in their services and whose facilities are more welcoming.

These guys are just unprofessional. I scheduled an online appointment for Saturday because the website allowed me too. This place does not take Saturday appointments but did not respond to my request letting me know that. When I asked why they didnt have Saturdays blocked or send me an email letting me know, the guy just looked at me and in a condescending tone said now you know. Well I am guessing they dont mind losing customers

Told me to wait an hour for a state inspection and then when I asked an hour later said the emission test (not needed or requested) will be done whenever they can. When asked to correct the ticket and give a new estimate, got angry and said to take the car somewhere else. Rediclously incompetent, rude and unprofrssional. Dont waste your valuable time, money or patience with these morons.

Got an oil change and safety inspection. Engine sounded awful afterward. Found out it was the air filter not put back together right, which according to these reviews might be a pattern. Errands arent fun, and having to repeat the errand because of bad quality service is even worse. Worst of all, apologies arent sufficient when my time, patience, gas, and proper car functioning is wasted. Companies should go out of their way to rectify their mistakes and this Midas didnt. Wont be returning.

Liars. I am a young woman who went for an oil change. They told me my rear brake pads were low and that my rotors needed resurfacing. The quote was something like $280. I ordered brake pads and went to change them myself and low and behold, they are nowhere near low. I brought this to the manager at the location and they are refusing to reimburse me for the shipping and auto shop fees I paid to change them because he says there is no documentation that the recommendation was made. Even though he was the one who gave me the quote and answered my questions about the brake pads. I will be contacting the corporate office.

I went to Burke Auto initially to have my oil changed and to get my brakes looked at since my car was pulling to the side when I stopped hard. Burke wanted to charge me almost $1500 ($1,474.56 plus tax) to replace my entire front braking system after telling me that my car was unsafe to drive and that I would end up driving into a tree because my front brakes were so bad. I drove my car home (against Burke Autos advice) and I called Midas 5 minutes before closing, almost in tears. The woman who answered couldnt have been nicer. She calmed me down and told me to bring it into Midas the next morning. Turns out, I only needed new hoses. After all the diagnostic test, multiple phone calls to keep me updated (thank you!) Midas did the work for under $500 ($477.26 including tax) and fixed the problem. Now THAT is customer service! Thank you!

Told I needed a abs tone ring and abs brake sensor, plus a oil flush, fuel injection cleaning, $606 dollars. The guys were acting like they were calling around to find the abs sensor, told me it cost $285 dollars, luckily I bought one before for $28 dollars, abs ring $13 dollars. These guys are ripping people off, 4 or 5 times the price of the parts, I put the ring on myself, and the brake sensor raily goes bad, drove truck light went off. Someone needs to check this midas out they are crooked.

I am beyond shocked at the terrible service. I drove all the way here from falls Church - scheduled an appointment at 3 - got here early and they tell me they cant get me in until 5:30. Spent 40 min in traffic and they dont stick to their word. That is not great customer service. Very disappointed and wont be back to Midas
