They had a good inventory with extremely good pricing. I went with my cousin from India to purchase a car for him, and there were some great cars that fit his budget. Although the inventory is amazing, the customer service is definitely lacking. My cousin has an Indian International drivers license, and the lady who was helping us said that we had to have a California license to even test drive the car, and there was no other way around it. But when the manager came out, he said that all we needed was a passport and we were good. Also, the staff was very pushy, and it felt like they werent trying to help. By staff, I mean Debby.

I have been many car shops, but have never seen a horrible place like this. The salesmen made me thought I was the one who was trying to sell the car. Yes, it is you, Mrs. Debby. Finding the car by myself, waiting there for half hour. Asking her for the key to test drive and car report, and she said I was rude? You better teach me how to hold the cash and be a polite costumer. I Aint not wearing a mask. No one asks you to work during the Coronavirus. I guess every Hertz store needs the great sales like Mrs. Debby to kick people away. Finally, I hope whoever love you and whoever you love will die at the Christmas dinner, Mrs. Debby. Best wishes.

Had the most terrible experience at this place. The car salesman was backing out my car I had just purchased and hit another car damaging the back of the car I had just bought. They promised me they would fix it but after calling and emailing for months and months no one would get back to me. This was the first car I purchased all on my own and I was so proud of how hard I worked to be able to buy the car I wanted. I would advise anyone to stay far away from this place. The battery also died after I put about 300 miles on this car leaving me stranded on my drive home across the country. I will never come back to this place and wish I took my money elsewhere from the start.

Terrible. Stay away!! So many better dealerships in DT Hayward that is not here. John will rush you, and lie to you to get you to buy the car. Bought my car from them a year ago and have ran into nothing but issues, and they will not help you. Still waiting on a check they were supposed to send as they took the registration tags off the car, I didn’t notice, and needed to pay for replacements. Called spoke to the man who seems to be the boss, as he said if I had issues call. Met with an attitude and they never sent the check. The salesman also lied to me about my credit, my approval, etc... they are shady. The cars are cheap because they are going to fall apart/have faults and they can’t use as a rental anymore.

I applied online for a sports car that I wanted through Hertz Car Sales 2 weeks ago, (that I have PROOF of that is selling for 18k) because I live in Los Angeles. I got pre-approved and I drove 5 1/2 Hours to get to Hayward, Ca. I sat in the car, i liked it, and i was ready to put the down payment down, and take the car home, when Johnny kept going back and forth in the office and had me waiting forever, it seemed, (Outside) for an answer from the lender that I was told they already had the answer, before I got All The Way there!! He said the bank tried to call me. ??? NO ONE CALLED ME OR MY JOB! You want to know why? I called the Lender and they told me they were waiting for THEM (HERTZ CAR SALES) to send over the application to them, so that they Could interview me. So They LIED! You want to know why? Because Hertz car sales bumped UP the Price over $4 GRAND, because Apparantly that deal was too Good that I was getting! After waiting and going back and forth, I changed my mind. I called back a couple of days later, the cars still available, johnny asked me if I wanted it, I said Yes, and I asked him did they raise the price. He said he was going to check. I never heard back. I have called yesterday, and a Cameron and Debra answered. They were BOTH RUDE! He sounded like a dense POS and SHE started saying Hello? HELLO? while I was speaking to her and hung up on me. This is one of the Most horrible, Tacky, and Worst experiences I have Ever encountered from ANY Company!

The worst experience that I had in my life trying to buy anything. Luck that due to god plans and Hertz Hayward inefficiency my deal did not work. Today, 2 months later and seeing other reviews, I thank you God for setting me free of buying a car from this place.

I was a little skeptical at first because some of the reviews said some negative things but after my experience I would recommend Hertz Car Sales to anyone. I worked with Johnny Doan mainly and he was very kind and professional. Not only did Johnny re-clean the car after we bought it he also filled it up with gas and followed up with a phone call the next day to see how everything was going.The car was extremely well maintained and was a mind blowing low price. I’m in love with my car!

Took forever ..the sales guy seemed like he didnt know what he was doing..and when I called later (after purchasing a car) with questions about my expired tags..”Johnny “ hung up on me (i admit I yelled at him for his evasive answers.)and refused to answer the phone when I called back.Very unprofessional..so when we needed a second car a couple months later, I bought from Hertz in Pleasanton..it was a much quicker and nicer experience...btw..I had to call Hertz corporate office to get an answer on how to get my current tags

This place was horrible. We went in to look at cars and it felt like we were a problem to them the whole time. After seeing one price online we went in and they tried to jack up the price on us. And i mean the sticker price itself, we know about taxes and all that. Guy gave me the creeps too

I was with my daughter in her first car buying experience and AJ Smith was the best! He was responsive, helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable and inserted just the right amount of humor - which is always needed when car buying. I would recommend this dealer in a heartbeat. Matt in Finance was awesome too in getting us the best rate, getting us through the paperwork and making sure my daughters questions were all answered and that she was confident in her decision (also inserting a healthy bit of humor). Whether youre a pro car buyer or a first-timer, I would recommend this duo. Hertz should be proud of this dealer!

Customer service is excellent. I worked with Johnny. He called me immediately after I sent an email showing my interest in a car I had seen. He immediately gave me info regarding financing and got it approved. I went to get the car in a few days and service in person was professional, caring and friendly. It is the best experience I ever had purchasing a car.

Honestly. By far the most ridiculous sales experience I had when it came to buying a car. If Im gonna do payments on a car I expect it to work fine and not have issues in the first week. I returned the car and they were acting beyond desperate and other sales people were coming up to us to try to save John Chongs sale. Thats honestly ridiculous atfirst I was considering on exchanging but when everyone kept on coming up to us I felt too much pressure to make a decision that instant. The only good part of this experience was returning the car and getting my money back.

The overall experience with Russian John (his request to call him that) was awesome. Recommended him to a friend as well. We both purchased cars. Easy no hassle price set by Hertz corporate.

Hi guys, this review applies only for rent to buy (not for Hertz certified). I booked 2014 Corolla and was waiting for it a week. Whole week while I was waiting for it Hertz called me almost every day simply saying that I will receive confirmation call that the car is ready it did not happen though... Nobody called and I called them, they said that the car is ready I came all the way from Walnut Creek to South Hayward. We started the process verification etc. The guy said : let me pull the paper work, I was waiting and accidentally saw that the guy who supposed to bring the paperwork was eating with all hertz stuff, no problem just do not lie. I would not mind if he just said let me finish my lunch. Finally he brings the keys and walks me to the car, and the car that I booked was grey, but at the fact there was a green one. Then all the Hertz stuff starts pretend like nobody knows how this happened and they simply started ignore me. I was not renting the car I tried to purchase trough Rent to Buy service. It is not a rocket science make sure at least that the VIN number matches with the color. I was so disappointed . I will never use any Hertz services and my personal suggestion never buy a car trough rent to buy from south Hayward location or if anywhere. The prices are extremely cheap but do not waist your time go to the dealer please !!!

Very unhappy with this outfit. I called to make an appointment for a test drive, and apparently while I was still on the phone they sold the car I wanted to see. Even though the manager had promised to let me know if the car was sold, no one told me this. I only found out about it by accident, when I checked the website again. I dont know if this was accidental, or if they actually wanted me to drive fifty miles to be disappointed, but either way it is very unprofessional.

Employees are nice and such big help as always awsome one on one conversations, second time renting without no hassle this location is where I know to rent in the future

I need a car they had it good and clean and fast

I picked up the car at San Ramon as part of their Rent2Buy program. As part of the due diligence, I to a mechanic - Found that the oil filter was lose and we had to put 2.5 quarts of engine oil! Other fuels were also not topped off.Still, the car was in a good condition so I bought it but it was a surprise that they wont even prep the car right. I had no problems with the sales staff at the Hayward location, but to be fair, I have to be honest and review the whole package i.e. total rent2buy experience.

I bought my Kia Sedona here in January and it was a great experience. We actually did a lot of laughing as Max worked to get us the BEST APR! No pressure, everyone was awesome, Im in LOVE with my car. AJ (i think was his name) even hunted down a spare set of keys and called us when he found them. Max was awesome, the car is awesome and I would highly recommend purchasing a car here.

My wife and I bought a car from here and our salesman was Mr.Erwin. On the first day with the car, at night we realised the headlight and backlight were not working properly and so the next day, we called the office but they kept saying that we had to wait for our salesman to be in, we waited and when we finally met him he said he would give us a call the following week to get it fixed but we never received any calls. When I finally called him he said he could not get the lights fixed as we were responsible for the damage, I demanded to speak with the manager and he said that we would get a call the following week, but as you guessed.. we got no calls. I had to fix the lights with my own money as I was at risk of being stopped by the cops. I would not recommend this place to anyone trying to get a new car.

Tl:DR- John S. Is the Man 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Sales Manager is disrespectful.I recently purchased a Car from John S. (Russian John) his service is a 5 Stars from me. From the test drive, his service was Fast, Prompt, and most importantly Honest while looking for financing.The Sales Manager on the other hand.. I did not manage to catch his name, But he is the one with a Shaven Head. He managed to make me wait a decent hour and a half before being seen.. and once we got in to the room to make the deal.. I did not appreciate the pushiness of the optional warranty coverage. I mentioned at the beginning that I know that offering it was part of his job but I would be declining the warranty.He the proceeds to make sure I know that I bought a Ford Ford tends to break down you know. I came in feeling confident of my purchase and was given a bit of attitude about it. I thought Hertz Car Sales are great cars that are checked and certified?He kept on re-itterating that his warranty paid out on his Chevy when the radio went out twice, and kept on mentioning The radio is a thousand dollars, are you going to spend that when it breaks? (Maybe you shouldnt have bought a Chevy in hindsight if you tried to convince me into the warranty plan.)I mentioned to him that I also like to wrench on my cars, and I know some friends with shops if I need help. His response was What if the water pump goes out, Thats $1500 gone, are your friends going to give you that much for free? I was belittled like a child about my purchase, and made wait while he was chopping it up with the other customer.It only took me 20 minutes to wrap up my paperwork...My Car is great a week later, no problems what so ever .Thank You John S. for the awesome sale!

Bait-and-switch kind of a place.I have been looking to get a car for a while now, at first, they seemed friendly. We exchanged some emails. I really liked a car and it seemed as a good deal. I called on the phone checked if the car is still there there they confirmed that they don’t hold cars “first come first served basis” I told them that I’m going to test drive and buy it.I got Uber from San Jose spend and hour and they by the time I arrived to get it they told me that it’s on hold and it will be next few days and they tried to sell me some other stupid car.—-Update: they called me to check the same car 5 days later, apparently hold was over but I didn’t feel comfortable at that car. This time there was this other sales guy, significantly better.

It was my first time buying a car, so of course they financed me with as many add-ons as they could. The car was totaled in December of 2018, and like an idiot, I went back there to buy a new one. The salesman tells me that he can cancel all the add-ons they sold me, because they werent used (I bought it in June 2018). In February, I call Hertz (because the bank is calling me-the add-ons were more than what I owed on the loan) and they tell me the paperwork got lost.Here it is August, and they still havent given me back the money they owe me. Ive called the finance company and they tell me they havent even filed (but of course, they wont let me file it myself, Hertz has to do it). Ive gone down there and call weekly, and the finance guy always has some excuse about why it hasnt been filed. Now my credit has been ruined.Dont let these guys talk you into anything. They financed me in an hour with all these add ons but its been almost a year and they cant return my money.

The worst customer service in history if you ask them a question they hang up on you. They dont answer the phone. And if they answer they cant help. Dont waste your time. I keep calling because the first time i go a answer now they dnt wanna answer my call i didnt know booking a car was hard

Bought a car here, within the first 3 months I noticed the front fender and bumper were coming loose. Brought it in to have them look at it. The dealer told me I should just glue it down? If Im spending 15,000 on a car from you guys I dont think I should have to glue my bumper back into place. Anyways Im gonna try to contact the manager again to see what we can do to resolve the problem. But so far for experience 1 star

This hertz dealership is one of the worst dealers you will ever go to. The dealers are dishonest about their cars and wont tell you if something is wrong with a car. Make sure your car has been fully serviced before you buy or rent.
