We went to Paul back when he had his shop, Paul Michael Design. My now husband and I custom designed my engagement ring using a stone from a family heirloom. He worked with us with such patience, creativity, and care. He used technology so we could see the ring as we designed it before he then 3D printed it. We felt totally confident that the final product would be perfect. He spent so much undistracted time with us that we felt like we his only customers. We loved working with Paul so much that when it came time to get our wedding bands, we went to Paul at Diamonds by Rothschild. We had a similar experience and love the final products. I had explored another jeweler in the north hills and was told that they could order something and the pricing would be double what I paid for the band. A friend recommended I try Diamonds by Rothschild and I found the exact ring I was looking for in their wide selection and the pricing was less than 1/2 of what I was quoted from the other store. I needed to have the band on a new watch resized immediately. I have found it increasingly difficult to find people who can do this. It is especially annoying in downtown Pittsburgh. The first place I stopped admitted they could not do what I needed, but the person on duty recommended Rothschilds on the second floor. It took me a moment to find people. I found two men in discussion and waited for them. They finished their thought and asked how they could help. I explained my situation to them, showed them the new watch and its huge band, and said I had been told to ask for Paul.Paul immediately identified himself and took a look at my watch. He was polite, asking for more information and talking with me. He found his tools and quickly disassembled the band. I told him that previous experience with this model of Casio watch had required removal of three links, but Paul had me try it on before final reassembly and I was happy he did so, as a fourth link needed to be removed. A final fit and a few finishing motions, and I was ready for the rest of my day.Throughout, everyone at Rothschilds was polite and aware I was there. Paul, I found out, was doing this for me on his day off. I am glad to have found Rothschilds and its people. I will be happy to go back and highly recommend it to others. I cant say enough great things about Paul Michael Designs. I got to work with Paul to design an engagement ring for my special lady. Even though I had a very specific vision in mind, Paul helped me to evolve it into something even more beautiful than I had imagined. We designed it in CAD and tweaked it digitally. I got to look at a full high resolution 3D renedering and a 3D printed wax version of the ring. The entire process was amazing and fun. I loved how it was a dialogue the entire time. I never felt like I was just a number. The customer service was amazing, and Id recommend Paul Michael Designs to anyone looking to make or buy something unique and timeless. Horrible experience the second time. First experience was good few years back when they were in Lawrenceville, made a wonderful necklace for my wife. I decided to have him make a matching bracelet, contacted Paul, we texted back and forth about the size and see if he can get me options for the kind of chain. I asked for some pictures so my kids can see and my wife to choose, but Paul kept feeding me the tomorrow line. Not in office today, heading there now, will get it a minute. That were the texts I kept getting. My wifes Birthday passed and Paul still could not produce anything for me. It was disappointing. I thought several thousand dollar job at time like this would be important for jewelers. But I was wrong. I would not trust him to deliver pieces for you. He is more of a shyster then a jeweler.

I lost some jewelry in a move and was pretty bummed out. So i thought I would start anew. I had a few ideas but mostly questions. I had so much fun meeting with Paul and brainstorming new ideas for old pieces. I no longer felt bummed about the old jewelry (OK, maybe a little) because I cant WAIT to see his new designs come to life. I also exchanged some gold for scrap and felt like he gave me a very fair price in return. HIGHLY recommend! Youll love him! (Nice team, too!)

Very disappointed with the customer service here... after reading so many great reviews I was really excited about working with Michael, however he continually blew me off and never delivered on commitments he made to me. Maybe he was busy or maybe he didn’t care about my business but I ended up going with Henne who who was much better to deal with and much friendlier than Michael. To be fair, this is not a review of his work but his customer service which was some of the most disappointing I’ve ever dealt with

We were able to get a design that looked beautiful, with many intricate Celtic knots, all for a little under my price limit. Taking part in the forging was also a really cool experience. Ill definitely be back for wedding rings.My only minor note is that my order took a rather long time to fill once I was back from college, but this was due to my lax schedule and the stress of the holidays. Best buying experience I’ve ever had! I had found an engagement ring Online but wasn’t sure about buying with out seeing it. I went and saw Mat at Rothschild trading co. and he got me the ring I wanted cheaper then what I could find online and i got to pick the diamond for the center stone. He actually got me a bigger better quality diamond and kept me under budget!He took his time and explained what to look for when buying diamonds. He had many to choose from but let me decide for myself which one I wanted. Now mine wasn’t ready for a couple weeks but it was worth the wait! I highly recommend. There are literally no words for how awesome and talented Paul is. My husband had my engagement ring custom made from someone else...and that someone else was also designing my wedding band. I showed this person what I was thinking in terms of how I wanted my wedding band to look and he said he would make it exactly like the pictures I showed him. One and a half weeks prior to my wedding, my husband picked up the band. Now, understand, I am not usually like this- but with the wedding so soon and everything going on in terms of that, I instantly started to sob as it was the ugliest piece of jewelry I had ever seen in my life. It looked absolutely nothing like the pictures I had shown this person. It was horrible, legit horrific. My husband called this person back and told him I hated the ring and he needed to fix it, and he said no! My husband then contacted Paul and he had us come in to the shop immediately. He took the existing, horrid ring, and turned it into the most beautiful wedding band ever within days. Paul literally saved the day. My engagement ring and band look flawless together. They were lovely and accommodating from the very beginning. We went to them with the briefest idea of what we wanted and they expanded it and brought it to life making my girls ring so much more beautiful than I could ever imagine! Paul Micheal Design did an amazing job on my custom made Titanium wedding bands for my Fiancé and I. I had a few ideas for a unique design but I wanted it made out of Titanium. Which when I was researching found it was not easy to find people who could custom design and make what I was envisioning. Paul Micheal Design said they could. The design process was great, we sat for 2hrs working on an elaborate computer design program and we played around with ideas. It was great to be a part of the process and have my vision come into creation. I love our rings and am so thankful for the experience and the beautiful pieces of art we get to wear.

Wonderful shop, with on site custom builds starting from design, with state of the art software, through the molding and forging process until you receive a hand crafted polished piece of jewelry that will fulfill your desires. With a knowledgeable and friendly staff making shopping for a perfect piece easy, and free of the pressure of commission based sales vultures of larger jewelry shops. Also with three very unique things about this shop, first you can watch them working on the jewelry. Second one being you and your spouse can actually pour your wedding rings, which I must say beats the hell out of lighting a union candle. Thirdly you actually get to speak with owner/ operator of store who is a real salt of the earth fellow who takes pride in his work and can work a Christmas miracle or two providing with what you want at a fair price. VERY WELCOMING people. I sat down we designed it together. Which by the way was TOTALLY FUN to do!! I got the best deal ever in price! All the work you see there was $250.00 ! If I ever have a stone that I want done, I am coming back here. Turnaround time was a week to two weeks. The nicest jewelers that you will ever work with. Paul recreated a bracelet that I lost years ago from a few remaining links. It was amazing to watching the design process and seeing my bracelet come to life in front of me. I am so happy with the finished product and highly recommend him and his team.
