I needed a very specific lens for my Canon outfit, and they were the only local company that had it. I was very pleased that they would hold it overnight for me while I made it in from Astoria. Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed my experience a lot!
I just upgraded to mirror less and they gave me a fair price for my Nikon full frame kit. Great 1:1 service and super friendly. Looking forward to my next lens purchase with Camera Solutions.
Very nice, had lots of information when I asked questions on the phone, great customer service
Had my lens repaired here. My quote was about 30$ more than another camera repair shop I went to, but they were able to get the lens fixed in about a week (while the other shop wouldve been around 13 weeks) so it was definitely worth the price. I asked for the order to be rushed, but I didnt actually get charged for the extra 25%. Not sure if it was an error on their part or if they just didnt rush it. If the latter is true, the repair time was amazing! Either way, I left very happy. I hope to not need their services again, but if I do, Ill happily go back.
I found the camera and lenses and I wanted from their used department, amazing prices, but more importantly everyone who helped me both on the phone and in person was extremely helpful and informed. When renting equipment they were also very helpful and accommodating. Really great store.
Camera Solutions is the best camera store Ive ever been to. I have an older film camera which they (flawlessly) repaired for me, and Ive brought it back multiple times more recently and they have taught me how to take good care of it, helped me address little problems with it for free; the guys that work there are kind, helpful, and clearly care about their craft like no other. Couldnt recommend more.
Great place. Had a wide variety of camera supplies and the people were knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. We will be buying from them again in the future.
Great customer service. I will be going back asap
Did not look around a lot because the guy helping me did his job and was very helpful. Asked for recommendations and he gave me reasonable ones without being pushy. Definitely will be back.
Amazing customer service. nice and friendly people who helped me out with a problem i had :)
Did a good job cleaning my camera. Ive bought two lenses from here and a good price. Theyll be my go to shop.
They did a good job of cleaning our sensor to the Leica SL we have. I’ll give them 5 stars for being able to rush the job for an extra $20 to have the camera ready in the same day. I don’t really trust them, however, in terms of camera knowledge. The first man we spoke to over the phone told us $20 would enable the rush process for our camera cleaning. He asked what kind of camera we had, and we told him the Leica SL. Next day, we go to the store and a different gentleman quoted us $20 more than the quote over the phone. We asked about the difference and he replied asking who we spoke with, then honored the first quote. When explaining why the cost for Leica SL camera sensor cleaning is $20 more than other kinds of cameras, he said it’s because the megapixels are different. Which makes no sense. We tried to tell him that megapixels have nothing to do with sensor cleanings, but he was pretty hard headed on the idea. He couldn’t take out the battery. We cringed as he tried before offering a hand. The cleaning was done swiftly - again, reason for 5-stars. (I only give 1s or 5s.) we picked it up from an older gentleman and asked why the Leica SL has a price difference. He replied that for some reason, the Leicas takes more time to clean. With a Canon or Nikon camera, they don’t have to take that extra time to clean the sensor. The little micro particles do not show up as much as they do on a Leica. We asked if they take the extra step to make sure the sensors on Nikons and Canons are cleaned anyways. He shrugged and said sure. So, I don’t know. They did a good job but I just got weird vibes from the place.
Ive been to Camera Solutions a number of times, and theyve always had great service. The staff is helpful and knowledgable, and Ill keep coming back, for sure. I had a situation the other day where I was in a bit a pinch and had a tripod / head issue come up during a shoot, and they were very nice and helped me remedy the problem right away. When dropping off any type of equipment for repairs, theyve always done a good job in a reasonable amount of time. I highly recommend them for any camera/lens/tripod or any other issues you may run across!
Sorry, meant to be a 5 star rating, If you need something for your camera, Camera Solutions is your place!
This is the camera shop that Portland deserves.I have been a professional photographer for almost 15 years now and i can be highly critical of camera shops. Whether I am walking in to buy a battery, or to spend thousands upgrading my gear - I expect staff to show kindness - and I’m not saying they should dance around you, but a general appreciation for your business. There are certain camera shops in PDX that I avoid at all costs (cough ProPhoto) because the staff can’t even be bothered to answer a few questions. This is not the case at Camera Solutions.I cannot express how delighted I was when I found this store. Right as I walked in I was greeted with a friendly welcome by a staff member that genuinely cared about my situation. They listened and interpreted my needs as I babbled on. You can tell these guys are passionate about photography and even more passionate about the gear used to create it. They know their stuff and we held a great conversation the entire time I was there.Beyond the great customer service they showed me - the prices were great. I even went back and checked to see how much the stuff I bought would cost on Amazon - I saw shocked to see that they came in cheaper! I will frequent this store and shop local every chance I get.Another cool service they offer is buying used gear. I was able to sell off around $250 of stuff that had just been sitting around in a box - they made the process so easy.Long story short- whether you are a seasoned veteran or a newly budding amateur - check out this little shop. Places like this are beginning to become extinct nationwide and its sad. For working professionals, sometimes you need gear FAST and buying it in person is the only option. For amateurs, sometimes you need just a little help from someone who knows their stuff to narrow down a purchase decision. We are lucky to have these folks in our PDX photo community. Thanks guys - you e got my business and ill be directing alll my friends your way.Dann
One of the worst customer service experiences of my life!! If you want to save yourself a nightmare go anywhere else. They took WEEKS to get me any initial estimate or information for a camera repair then said they couldn’t do so then sent it to Panasonic which took another few weeks and then a few more weeks to get camera back. Whenever I spoke with them they sounded disinterested and apathetic. TOTAL NIGHTMARE!
I really appreciate the customer service at camera solutions. Ive been to another camera store in Portland and they did not treat me very well. But camera solutions staff is always nice. Thanks a lot!
Great place for camera gear. Super friendly people.
Locally owned with good friendly staff. They did a quick turnaround on my 17-40mm when it broke while I was traveling in Portland. I have used them before and will again. UPDATE: I have used the lens quite a bit since it was fixed and it has been fine. It had loose screws and rollers. It is nice and clean now too.
Great customer service helped me find exactly what I needed and let me try the lense before buying. They even had an extra charged battery because my camera was dead.
One stop shop! These guys are the best! Smile through their masks, have amazing advise, and great deals. I will be back.
I called to ask about how much it would cost to repair my camera, and he said the assessment starts at $24. I asked if there is a range, like $24-200, some sort of cap, he said it starts at $24, and goes up form there. I asked if it is based on hours spent to assess, he said hes not a technician and doesnt know. I told him I dont feel comfortable leaving my camera there to be assessed when there is no cap to how much that would cost, as saying it starts 24 isnt saying anything except that it wont be less then 24. He said it wont cost 500. Ok, well.. great. Then told me I can take my camera to another shop. Wow. Worst customer service ever.
I dropped my camera in the sand, and was so intimidated to have it looked at (very new photographer here!). Dan was helpful and patient while answering my MANY questions. I got the help I needed, and am happy to have found my new go-to camera shop.
Friendly and knowledgeable and had everything I desired! Camera Solutions are my, Hero 😉😉😉
A great photo shop I can only recommend it. Great advice nice seller and really good prices.
I went in for a simple focusing screen replacement because I was too much of a wuss to try it myself. Irah (sp?) helped me in a matter of minutes as well as showed me the custom functions that needed to be changed. He was genuinely kind and helpful alongside being so efficient. Thank you!
Knowledgeable/ helpful staff, great prices, and local. Why would I go anywhere else?
Helped me out to see if my lens needed to be cleaned and saved me a lot of money by narrowing it down to my sensor.
Ive used a entry level DSLR since high school and I was finally ready up upgrade to something more substantial--a Canon 5D mk IV. Dan took a couple hours of his time, let me feel different cameras, answered my phone calls and all my questions to learn about the camera that was right for me. The customer service here is impeccable, and their prices match the internet prices for any TRUSTABLE site. I dont think Id buy any used equipment from them (though I did get a bag that kicks butt) because its a little pricey. Nonetheless, these guys are awesome and I highly recommend them for your camera needs.
This is the only place that rents equipment on Saturday so I was super thankful for that. The guys were really friendly and helpful. The rental and return process was easy. I also feel that their prices are super reasonable and when you rent on Saturday you return by Monday which is awesome.
Sigh...if you are mourning for the photographic past youve found your cameraland. These guys know what they are talking about full shutter open. And they have been around for years and years and years. Hiro is amazing! There isnt any BS here just quality camera repair and supply, the old school way.
I was quite impressed with my experience here. Ive had some issues with my camera for around a year now, and have taken it to 3 other camera repair places. This was the first place to open up my camera and watch it go and look at the issue themselves. They were highly knowledgeable, laid out all the facts, prices, and options. And they even spent time with me researching an issue on a different camera of mine free of charge. Friendly, personable staff, as well.I will definitely be going back to them for any future camera repairs or purchases.
They were so nice and helpful. I bought my new to me camera from a different seller but was having problems with it. They offered to have me come in so the technician could quickly look it over and see if it was worth keeping/fixing/or returning. They gave me great service even though I wasnt looking to buy from them at this time. I will definitely be going back to them when Im ready to buy more or upgrade. I highly recommend!
Had an issue on my camera with the shutter. They took it in and replaced the shutter for a reasonable price. Just developed the film today and everything is good as new. They have a great 90 day warranty also.
Great place to shop if you need anything in a hurry. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I have used them for camera cleaning services with good results.
Ive had them clean my camera several times. Their service is excellent and turnaround is quick. I really appreciate their work!
No wrestling necessary. The staff at Camera Solutions are expedient, proficient, and kind. They recently assisted me with repairing a lens, and exceeded my expectations in honoring the warranty. I will never visit the other camera shops again.
Great place to rent a camera! They are helpful and know what they are talking about.
I should have done my research first but I purchased a used flash from them only to find out I could have bought it new for almost half the price.. also the price tag listed on it was $25 less than what he checked me out for. The new flash also comes with a stand where the used one I paid too much for doesnt have it.. yeah I got ripped off and Im not happy.. this damn thing is going back and Ill go to BEST BUY of all places and buy a NEW one and save myself $50!..
Great place with crazy awesome fast turn around for sensor cleaning. Good people.
Staff seems pretty knowledge. They are also pretty salty with respect to the online market - I get it though. I have a hard time justifying the expense of going to the brick and mortar establishment when Amazon is ~30-50% less.
The gentleman that we worked with was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable! I ordered online and it was sent priority mail! I highly recommend them.
I called around to various camera stores. Nobody carried what I was looking for.Camera Solutions didn’t have it. But! Unlike the other stores, their customer service representative, Nate, made an effort to find a solution for me.I appreciated the effort.
Nice to talk to real person and be able to touch n handle gear one is interested in purchasing. Good with repairs.
Always so helpful and friendly! Rented many lenses from here and had my equipment cleaned and fixed through them. Always happy with the service!
Not only did they spend the time to teach me about my camera that I didnt even buy from them...they gave me a very fair price for MY lens and camera that was under par for shooting my daughters high speed soccer game. They took the time to explain why the 70-300mm VR with Active was the best lens for me. I just got back from my daughters game...they were right! I will be coming to this store for ALL my camera needs...
I had an infrared converted Canon 5D drop its mirror. Additionally, I had the sensor cleaned and an overall body cleaning with an expected three day servicing at what I felt to be a very reasonable charge. The camera was ready the next day. I’m very pleased.
I dont typically leave reviews (I think this is my second ever) and often feel like I should, but laziness wins and I dont. However, I feel like I have to for these guys. Not only did they fix the headache that was my Canons wifi not working, but they didnt charge me at all, for anything. Im not from Portland, Im actually from Philly, but I know that this type of service on the East Coast surely would have cost me something. Thanks Nate for your help man. I couldnt recommend this place more.
Was very nice and helpful unfortunately they did not have what I needed on hand.
These people helped me with a camera issue that Id been trying to solve for weeks. They were patient and understanding and I highly recommend them.
Every time I need anything, they have the best prices along with knowledge to back it up. Very comparable to internet prices, but with great service and help. Im more than satisfied - I wouldnt go anywhere else unless I had to! Kathy
Very knowledgeable team members, professional and helpful.
I had a fairly beat up (I carry it hiking and backpacking) video camera repaired there. The price was fair and the camera was finished on time and it works perfectly. So I took my Canon G12 digital there when I managed to get some grit in the lens mechanism. They had to replace the lens (no surprise to me) and again it was done on time and at the price quoted.Editorial comment here: It SHOULD cost $50 or more to dismantle a camera to give a repair estimate. They arent simple devices. Parts are tiny and delicate and it requires expertise to take a camera apart and put it back together so that it works. And no, I dont know anyone at the shop. I just think that they run a decent business and do their best.
Fun selection, great staff. Always helpful and patient, honestly a very pleasant experience!
Got my sensor cleaned on my Nikon D7000 for $65 which is a very fair price. Not only did they do a fantastic job cleaning my sensor, which was riddled with dust and dirt, but he cleaned the body and the attached lens as well. Less than a 24-hour turnaround time. Will definitely be back for other camera related products and repairs.
Been going there for 5 years to buy new gear, buy and sell used gear and get my camera gear repaired. Ive had 1 camera, 2 lenses and 2 flashes repaired and the repairs have all lasted years
FANTASTIC! I was on Vacation with my girlfriend in Portland and my Nikon D200 camera failed me. I got on Google through my smart phone looking for a local camera repair shop. I found Camera Solutions and promptly went there. I explained my situation (On Vacation) and their technicians were kind enough to start working on my camera. They got it working in 35 minutes and their prices were more than fair. They made our vacation and memories that much more enjoyable. :)
Im not a photographer but my son is and Ive taken here a few times and bought him a lens and tripod from them too. They have been very helpful and knowledgeable.
We were here for lenses and Mics and Gear and there was a boy (20s /30s) employee who is ok making things up about everything. I guess we will buy online from the competition, when we want new Gear.
George was very helpful in selecting the proper lense for our application. Thank you, George!
Fantastic camera shop!! Great staff
Great, friendly service. I will take all my repair needs there, and probably my next purchase.
They did an excellent job cleaning the camera. Both people I worked with were very nice and helpful.
Great customer service with repairs and new camera shop.
Worst customer service I have experienced. I will not be coming g back here again. I will definitely be going to other shops.
Costumer service could be better but they have a nice selection of new and used camera lenses
Knowledgable, personable and friendly staff. Excellent canon and Nikon selection. Affordable rental program with wide selection. Great selection of new gear including lenses, tripods, bags cases ect..One of the best digital shops in town.
Great place to take your gear for cleaning, servicing or repair. Friendly staff and a pretty good supply of new and used gear.
These guys are great! Nice selection and great rental prices!
Awesome folks! Extremely helpful.
Nice camera shop with both Nikon and Canon. Not a huge selection, but they also have a bunch of used L lenses and some of the more recent Canon bodies.
I took my Canon PowerShot SX10IS into Camera Solutions for repair because I kept getting a lens error message. I left it there and was told that Id get an email with an estimate within about a week. I was pleased that they were on time, and gave them the go-ahead to fix my camera. I was told itd be about 10 days or so, and was again pleased that thats just what it took. I picked it up today, and cleaned and fix. The problem was the optical circuit board, and the repair is under warranty for 90 days. Thats fair.Ive had this camera for 7 years and absolutely adore it. I appreciated the fact that the lady at the counter told me theres no sense getting a new camera if I love the one I have; she didnt try to sell me a new camera. Major points. The technician who waited on me today was very pleasant; he had on a Hawaiʻi t-shirt, which I loved, and we talked about our love of Japanese food while he finished up the transaction. He was the one who fixed my camera, and I really liked the personal contact.Im really pleased with all aspects of getting my camera fixed, and I know that this is where Ill go if I need more repairs or more camera equipment. Its a long drive for me, but definitely worth it.
Took my 5dmkiii in for cleaning. It was cleaned and cost $85. I would have liked it cheaper but they were very professional with the handling of my equipment.
Very helpful with diagnosing my need to learn how to use a camera!
Great place to get your camera cleaned
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Fixed a lens I thought was impossible to fix. My Micro USM Canon 1.4 seized up and made a grinding noise as you moved the focus barrel (I now know this was from impact) and at the time I was extremely upset. A friend thought he could fix it for me and took it, brought it back, not fixed and full of WD40. :( NEVER let non-photographers touch your lenses, even if you think theyre broken. It would have been cheap to fix the USM, but cost about $225 because they had to clean it! Nightmare, but Camera Solutions did a great job. I have my lens back that I thought was lost for all eternity. HIGHLY recommend taking in your broken lens. Probably cheaper to repair than to replace.
Customer service is beyond amazing here. My wife is a professional photographer and this is the only shop we use.
Great service! Above and beyond for camera cleanings and customer service.
Heard good things about this place, but they werent very helpful when checking out a new DSLR.
First of all they want 50 $ just to check out a camera, second they dont hesitate to quote a price as high as a camera replacement cost; so these people wear suspenders and belts at the same time. I would not even go there!
Sent several emails and never got a response. Trying to support a local business but sadly they failed to be responsive to my inquires.
A little pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Great staff!
Very helpful!
Everything photo.
Friendly service
Great store
Nice to meet
