Great local gem. This is one of my go to places for assorted gear and such. They often have things like shotgun scabbards when other stores do not even stock the item. Ammo selection is decent, firearms selection is also fairly good. If youre looking for gun belts, cases, scabbards, parts and various minutia Ranger is definitely worth a look. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful every time Ive been in there.
First time visiting this gun store, I didnt know it existed. However after doing a Google search, ran across it and needed TruGlo fiber optic and tritium sights installed on one of my pistols. Sights were installed really quickly and well done, the guy who helped me was very kind and knowledgeable as well as the other staff, they were friendly and welcoming as well. Thanks whoever it was that installed my sights, Ill be swinging by here and there and will let others know about Ranger Firearms.
$50 for a firearm transfer. Money hungry. We walked out and said return them. How’s that return treating you? Made nothing off of us. Nice try.
Went in thinking I was going to have to put some money down for a trade in, nope, the store manager John and his team not only had the firearm I’d been looking for months, I ended up getting some cash back and got another firearm with that. Thank you gents for the outstanding customer service, I’ll be back!
Awesome service! I dont buy guns from anywhere else! Everyone is so kind and attentive
Went in just yesterday for a full size handgun. Wasnt sure going in exactly what I wanted but had an idea. Ended up going with the recommended HK VP9, and gotta say after my first range day with it, its really a great shooter. Super happy with my purchase and experience at ranger firearms, thanks guys!
Honest review: Overpriced ammo, reasonably priced guns, good diversity, they do NOT offer military discounts. Very few staff are capable of answering your questions and those who arent send you to more competent employees. Not a bad gun shop, just buy your ammo elsewhere.
Wow! Fifty bucks for a transfer! You got me once Ranger but you can be assured I will not be a repeat customer. Oh yeah, 2 stars because you do have a nice selection (that’s overpriced as well)
Went in today, it’s sad I speak so highly of ranger and the customer service I got from the dude in the red shirt was totally not what I always get from the owner. I’ve bought multiple guns and accessories. I get great service out of everyone else but that one dude was rude I was looking forward to getting a couple today but he ruined my mood.
Wow! Very good selection and very polite.I came at closing time and these boys got me in and out quickly.I will be going back!
Very helpful.. big selection
Great place for a first experience!!! I wasnt rushed, answered any questions I had and got the weapon for me... will certainly go back again !!
Went in there looking for an accessory for my ar. The young man who assisted me was very polite and helpful. He even installed my accessory onto my ar for me. They will definitely be getting my business but they need more .45s!
I have been buying firearms for close to 30 years, and this is one of the best gun shops in San Antonio. Customer service is outstanding. Everyone is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have about firearms.
I would give the store a 5 star rating because the manager and most of the employees are cool. But there is 1 employee that is a complete pain to deal with. This guy made it seem like it was a great honor for you to be served by him. And would ignore you until he HAD to help you. Dude would rather be on his phone than ring you up. Oh well at least the ammo is fairly cheap.
Good People fast service. They just put on fiber optic sights on my weapon. Im very happy with their service. Recommended 5 ✨ Keep the good work. Thanks
Argued with me over whether or not theres a difference in length between a mid-length and carbine-length gas tube, and then ended up selling me a carbine-length tube that was mislabeled as a mid-length. If they were half as concerned about their customers as they were about keeping out the potheads (as evidenced by all of their signs), that might not have happened.
Not even willing to check distributors to order a specific rifle. Told me to check online
Great service and a great selection. They actually have ammo and lots of great clothes and extras.
Previous reviews are correct, do not trust this shop with NFA, they didn’t file my paper work after over a month when purchased in store. When I contacted them they informed me that they would have not noticed if I had not contacted them. They wouldn’t provide the serial number of the suppressor I had bought, promising that I would receive an email with the info, the email didn’t come as promised. I don’t know what this shop is doing, but it’s shady as hell. Don’t trust them.
Very much enjoyed my time at this store. Lots of things to look at. I can’t thank Tobin enough for his help and knowledge. He helped me pick out a great new ar that didn’t break the bank. His customer service was great and he was an all around really nice guy.
Nice people and Nice place for the most part. Huge inventory and solid prices on accessories and magazines etc. But way overpriced on most firearms. His used inventory is almost retail. Some of highest prices on used and new firearms in town for sure.
Proper phone decorum is something that is completely lost these days.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. these people are knowledgeable and will do all they can to help you buy the gun you’re looking for even in these desperate times. although we are in a gun shortage they manage to have a huge selection of glocks and ARs. 10/10 would recommend!
I appreciate John, one of the managers at the store. There was a hangup with a transfer and he personally took care of it. I also was glad to see the store take covid precautions seriously. They have a sink for everyone entering to wash their hands and while I was there I heard one of the staff politely ask a customer, who had not washed his hands, to please do so.
Buying a NFA item?? ......stay away. They lost my Form 4 paperwork after I signed it. The only reason I found out about it, is when I checked with the NFA/ATF branch to see when the check was cashed so it would give me a base line on when I could expect it in the future. Nothing had been received. They didnt even know the error of their ways until I brought it to their attention. I lost almost 3 months in the waiting process due to their neglect and poor record keeping. Thats unacceptable and I will never be going back again. Hope this helps the next person.
I wasnt able to walk in the place to ask a simple question with out being jumped on about washing my hands. I just wanted to know if the gunsmith was in. After a way too long exchange I did finally get my question out only to learn that he wasnt in. They were still telling me about washing my hands. Why would I be required to wash my hands if I wasnt staying? Needless to say I wont be going back. If they can afford to be that rude then I see no reason they would need any of my hard earned sheckles.
Very patient staff, they take the time to explain to you the firearm that you are interested in and the prices are very fair. Plus they are taking the covid situation seriously.
Great shop with a lot of apparel and accessories (in addition to fire arms and supplies). Helpful staff. Prices are good, competitive, depending on what you’re picking up.
This is definitely a Hidden Gem! 🙌🏽Loved that instead of sanitizer they have a sink available to wash your hands upon arrival! 💡 Genius!! The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable, 🔫 🧠 and they treated me like I was a longtime VIP client.. loved that! 💙 Called my son and told him right away about this Gem, they even have a real rattlesnake and a fierce guard dog, Tonto 🐶 who loves belly rubs! 😄 #SupportLocalShops
I went in today just to get a grip pod for my AR15.All the gentlemen made sure I was greeted well. Took theyre time looking up stuff for me . So I had a little problem with my AR15. A pin was missing. One gentlemen went out his way to fix it for me. Knowing he didnt have to. He had to open up a brand new pack which costs over 40$. No charge!! just for the part. Which was only 5$!!Awesome customer service. I really recommend this place!
If youre looking for a good local gun store here in San Antonio this is definitely the place to go! I believe the person that helped us was Matt he was super knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend this store!
Went here today. Everyone was very helpful, willing to spend the time to answer every question i had. If they didnt know the answer they would take the time too research it. Not like other gun shop that say i dont know or only care about making a sell. I will be going here again! I even went as far to call the Manager to let him know how my experience was in the shop!
Went to sell a couple of my guns and got a quote, went to talk to my wife and went back to do the deal. They changed there mind and said sorry. Not a great way to do business. Went to another shop and they bought of them. Won’t go there anymore
4.5 stars if I could but putting it at 4 wouldnt be fair.. I went in today to get an AR lower for my first build. Took a bit of time before someone approached me in the AR section but to be fair they were dealing with other customers so I didnt feel ignored like other reviewers had mentioned. The two people I had spoken too were very knowledgeable and didnt make me feel pressured into buying anything. The only reason I would say 4.5 stars instead of 5 is due to some of the prices I saw. Dont get me wrong I am all for supporting your local shops but there was one accessory that I was interested in that was being sold around $35-40 more than online retailers and the Saint that I was also interested in was being sold around $150 more. This is common in most shops but it does make it harder to buy sometimes. I may have walked out with the Saint instead of AR lower if it was a little closer to that online price but in truth Im not much of a haggler (I suck at it). They have a great selection though and I dont mind spending the extra bit (to an extent) for some firearms. Many cost 20-50 more than what you find online and it may actually be worth it to just buy in store. Even some of the cheapest FFL transfers are around 20 + shipping so you may not even save anything in the end if you go that route and for an extra 10-20 I wouldnt have to wait for the gun. To each his/her own though. Overall though I did like my experience there and will definitely be back for random accessories and parts.
I purchased a new holster for my lc9s today. Salesman Dave assisted me in finding the best holster to fit my needs. He was very courteous, informative, helpful and professional! He took time to answer questions about other weapons too. The entire staff is very professional. They also followed safe practices the Covid outbreak. I give Ranger Firearms very high marks and will return again!
Solid experience here. First time shopping at this store. Angel helped me out. Quick and painless very knowledgeable guy. Thanks
Best place to buy firearms in SATX. Grateful to be allowed to store firearms in their armory when needed.
VERY DISAPPOINTED they Enforced the Mask ademic!! I would expect to have my rights honored at a Gun shop of all places!! Didnt but anything I was going for sorry will have to shop elsewhere!! If your mask works then why worry about me!!!👎👎
This store has some of the most friendly, down to earth and very knowledgeable employees you will ever come across. Found this shop by accident and im glad i did. Will be doing business and referring others to this store. Its good to see they understand that by providing great customer service that alone can and does make people buy from you. Great selection of firearms, knives, gear and very cool collectors items also! Store is very well laid out and overall just watching how they make people feel at home and comfortable means a lot. The dog walking around is a nice touch of the homey feel you get when your in this store. Ive been too many gun shops, in many cities and states. And this store, just in my few times in, I can say ranks right up with the best of them. From newbies to experienced firearms folks. They make everyone feel like they are not in a business. But more like a home! Love this place!
Here is my constructive criticism: EVERYTHING in-store is great, however their online service for buying ammo is HORRENDOUS. I ordered 300 Blackout ammo online on their website on March 21, I assumed it was in stock so that I could pick it up the next day however I was wrong in that they ship it from one of their local facilities. Now per email confirmation I was told that Id be getting an email regarding my order and when it would be available to pick up. Its currently the end of March 28 and no update. No email, no call, etc. I had to call them and that was 2 days ago just to check on the status of my order and I was told by an in-store rep it should be on the way soon, usually its pretty quick since our facility is nearby, well give you a call when its ready. 2 days later and still nothing. This is terrible service, other online websites give you next day shipping! I assumed since I was a local in San Antonio Id be able to get the ammo pretty quickly, but nope. Ranger Firearms needs to fix this issue, or at least keep me updated on the order I.E. a tracking number or something.
This place has a great selection of just about everything for firearms, knives, and accessories. They carry a lot of the little obscure parts that are usually only mail order. The prices range from average to a little high, but that is the price to have a brick and mortar store these days I guess. Also, the staff is very friendly in my experience and willing to help you find what you need, order what you need, or even more importantly just talk about guns! I would definitely recommend checking them out.
Terrible customer service
Just another good ole boy shop. The place looked nice when my wife and I first arrived. It took a long minute to find someone to help me though. After working with Edward E De Wee for a bit, I was looking for AR parts, he disappeared only to be found helping one of their regular customers. I guess I didnt rate his attention until I decided to walk out. Save yourself some time and effort, skip this place and go to Adelbridge and Co. on San Pedro. They dont always have the item I want but they do know customer service.
Really great gun shop. The guys who work here are very professional and nice. Its a place you can go in and just talk guns with. They also have a sweet old dog walking around that loves pets. All around great shop. Cant wait to go back.
I have no idea how there are any 1 star reviews! Hell, I have no idea how there are any reviews less then 5 stars, this was one a the best experiences Ive had at a Gun store. I went in to buy a gun for my father in law and also have it engraved, the entire process was painless and easy, and everyone I worked with was truly enjoyable to talk to. I will absolutely be returning to get some work done on my firearms and purchase any product I need. Do yourself a favor and visit them, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Lots of guns you cant find at any other shops. Ended up buying a sweet STI. And i cant put it down. These guys are great and listen to all the dumb questions i had before i left the shop.
I prefer to support local businesses whenever possible. Doc does the leather work and knife sharpening at Ranger Firearms. He does excellent work and I really wanted a handmade holster for my NAA Earl revolver. He did not disappoint. Great job, Doc! Recommend highly.
I have dealt with gun shops in San Antonio and finally found a go to gun store ! Scott (sales)is really versed on weapons. Ace handled my trade in and and found his honest upfront dealing very refreshing. Wilson(the armorer) installed a comp trigger group in my new Beretta, and and is one of the best I have found.Prices for guns and gunsmith work are honest and fair.Definitely will return when I need or want more stuff!
Bought a Keltec sub2k from these guys. Really nice group and knowledgeable! Plan on going back soon for another gun. I’d recommend this shop to anyone.
They always have plenty of staff, all willing to help and always stocked up on ammo!
Visit at the store with my fiance never got a hello hi can we help you with anything I was really interested in buying her a small 45 concealed carry kind I was actually really interested in purchasing a tracking Point rifle and a speed loader for my 32 but the whole time I was in there no one even ask me if I needed any assistance now were going to drive to Buda and actually buy from TrackingPoint themselves.
First time in I asked for help with a problem a gun that I didnt get from them, (screws didnt match anything I had to customize). Their gunsmith spent 20 minutes helping me on questions asked. After that Ive made it a point to get parts for builds I need asap from them as they have almost everything you would need or can get it. That is the type of service worth being loyal to.
Never again spent 45 min trying to get some help and every new customer would get helped and I would be standing in the same spot
I placed an order for a holster to be made exclusively for my duty belt, just for the basic run of the mill style Doc quoted me $165 which I thought was a bit high but never the less I went ahead and ordered it because of the belt specifications which had to have a 2.25 in belt loop holes and I couldnt find a holster in any other store. He said it was going to take 4 days tops, took him 2 weeks, thats with me calling to check on the progress which they never bothered to call me the customer . When I finally got the call I went into the store to check it out, it looked very cheeply made and the belt loop holes were 1.5in which irritated me because it would of definitely not worked on my duty belt and it took him forever to make. Expecting for him to make up for his mistake and at least offer to make another one he simply said okay thanks and walked away, leaving me dumbfounded as it was my fault...Right after that, I still wanted to spend money not wanting to walk away empty handed I ask another employee to find me a magazine for my pistol he barley did anything when he decided to simply give up and start looking at knives and playing on his phone while I was just standing there waiting. Obviously these people need better customer service and training, Im definitely wont be going back there again and will be taking my business elsewhere, I suggest you all do the same!
These guys were very respectful and helpful. They helped explain to me all the inner works of AR15s and helped me buy all the parts needed to assemble my own with no disrespect and were very fair on all the prices. The parts they helped me pick out were based on their experience and what I wanted in my firearm, which they were willing to talk to me about with their own gunsmith. Definitely earned my business and will be returning in the future.
Owner damaged my gun employees have no idea and conflicting information about the repair of my gun nobodys on the same page
Well-stocked and well-staffed. One of the best gun shops I’ve been to since I moved down here from Dallas.
Very nice staff and a good selection of reasonably priced firearms however my first and possibly last transaction with Ranger left a bad taste in my mouth. I was in the market to get my son a 22 and wanted a Remington 597 so after some online searching I decided to go give Ranger a try as I have pretty much only purchased from Nagels. The gun was not in store but was given the option to order from their online store which I agreed too and proceeded with the purchase and was assured probably 3 times that it would ship same day as I was in before noon (Tuesday morning) and would be there in 2 days. After all was done was excited about it and looking forward to go shooting with my son that weekend. Thursday came and I had not received a call so I decided to send an email, i didnt get a response until almost 8 that night which stated there was some confusion on the order which I dont understand as I ordered it in their store but that the firearm would ship out first thing in the morning (Friday morning). So here I am thinking well at least Ill get it Monday. Monday comes and I decide to call and ask for a status update only to find out that 6 business days later my gun has still not shipped because they were going to ship Friday but there was another order coming so they decided to group together and get a bulk shipping price. So somehow I am not receiving my gun, actually my sons gun for a whole week and a half after I already paid for it. To me just seems very very unfair and on top of that I wouldve never know any of this had I not called personally and asked about it. After hearing they decided to hold off on shipping my firearm so that they could receive a bulk shipment is mind boggling to me and I dont agree that its some way you would treat a customer especially a new one. I had hoped I would have an excellent experience and be a returning customer after walking in and appreciating such a nice store and friendly staff but after this transaction I find it hard to believe that I will be coming back.
My experience has been nothing less than pleasurable. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Placed an order and received a call when it was ready for pick up
Great selection, great value, best trade in prices in-town. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I had driven by it for months, before finally stopping in. Glad i did. Not at all what you think when driving by. In the process of expanding. If your into shooting, hunting, or self defense youll be impressed. Its my go to gun store in SA.
Great store, a whole lot to look at. Tons of knives, flashlights, accessories and a really nice firearm selection. I went to check out their revolvers and think Ill go pick up a Smith and Wesson later on this week. All the staff were really nice and professional, Im happy I found such a great store near my home
Need to have competitive prices. Overpriced firearms.
Best gun store in sa love the weather inside
To start, they lost my NFA folder, which has my personal information, trust copy/information, serial numbers to my NFA items purchased through them, etc. This kind of extreme negligence will ensure I never step foot through their doors again. They carry a wide variety of products, but everything is MSRP or higher. $17.99 for a 50 count box of 9mm range ammo? Get real. The wall with AR parts looked like it hadnt been touched or restocked in months the last time I was in there.I was glad to use up my store credit and be done with this place.
So, they have alot packed into a little shop. This kind of made exploring on your own hard. Things seemed a little random to me, luckily Ricky was super helpful in finding me what I needed. As Well as showing me some other stuff.
Was in need for a castle nut and they had it. Awesome. Only 3 stars because the man behind middle counter was looking at his phone and did not greet me. Even as i walked up to him and stood awkwardly for a couple of seconds, i said, hows it going. He finally looked up from his phone and helped me. Other than that store was very clean and had lots of cool stuff.im sure there are other employees with better customer service skills.
I have purchased three handguns from Ranger Firemans and am very happy with all of my purchases. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to attend to my needs. They have a large inventory with a wide variety of products.
Love this place, I stop here every time Im in the area. Great selection, fair prices. Great gun shop pets there too.
Went in to look around, and was approach with a friendly attitude and knowledgeable staff who weren’t pushy and wanted to show you all the different options they have to offer. I will be back when I’m ready to purchase.
Nice place good selection, had a few SxS I wanted to look at. After standing at the gun counter for 30 minutes without being acknowledged, I left. My return will be doubtful.
Good selection of firearms, ammo, and accesosries. Quick, and painless buying experience. Four star because pricing, especially pistols, ate a little higher than average. But Ill support a mom and pop shop anytime.
Awesome family-owned business. Clean, well laid out, good selection and prices and, most importantly, great, educated personalized service. Have made multiple purchases and will be back again.
I buy a bit from here. They are nice experienced people. They are serious about their business but dont let that scare you of from asking questions, they are respectful. My only knock is their prices are MSRP across the board.
Have not been here yet.
Very cool shop! Staff was super helpful! Had a very good experience there! Look forward to dealing with them again! I highly recommend them!
Great selection in the store! Customer service is top notch and they are willing to help in any way they can to make sure you get taken care of!
Great staff. Very knowledgeable on everything they offered. They have a huge selection to choose from. I will for sure be going back in the future.
My new place to buy guns. Way cheaper than Pawn Shops and super friendly staff. They have 3 month layaway.
AVOID!!! Intentionally slow played the sale to keep me in the shop longer. Lame business practice.
Ok place. I bought my first firearm, and was asking questions. They were a little indifferent towards me. Need to work on their people skills. Nice selection of firearms and gear, although a bit pricey.
Definitely would come back. I got my .270 savage there. The restrooms, the guns, are averagely cheaper then Nardis and Durys, The staff is outstanding. And by the way, the Dog is pretty
Ive visited hundreds of gun shops across the US and there are two things I look for: inventory and friendly staff. Ranger has both, and I plan on visiting again. One employee in particular, named Don, was extremely polite, knowledgable, and professional. Hes the shops knife guy and took his time giving me the back story on some Texas knife makers. Ive studied blade steels and knife making techniques, and Dons knowledge greatly outclassed mine. He wasnt condescending or annoyed in the least; he had fun sharing his passion with a fellow hobbyist. The rest of the shop was decked out with a great inventory of all ammo types, firearm types, suppressors, knives, and accessories. The rest of the staff were also friendly and helpful. One gentleman dropped what he was doing and walked over to an accessory display rack to help me find a product. The store dog is also polite. My young daughter was getting tired and started to whimper. The dog walked over and sniffed around, letting my daughter reach out and say hello.Prices are fair; about the same as the best prices Ive seen in stores or online. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase from this store, trading sales tax for a shipping charge.Overall, in my top 10 all time gunshops. Ill be visiting again.
Dont shop here! Worst customer service ever. We ordered a pistol from an online dealer that was scuffed up when it came in. These guys insisted that we pay $50 outgoing transfer fee even though it wasnt our fault the gun was messed up.
Edward was great to work with! helped me find the knife I needed. Huge selection of Microtech and is getting Hogue Knives in! My wife on the other hand wont like me frequenting the store! HAHA
Great experience in making a trade and buying of a few guns great friendly and knowledgeable staff fun environment even if opinions differ in brands calibers or what notNot super fast but if you think going into a gun store for any business should be like the grocery store your an idiot who should clean and maintain his own damn guns
This place is overly priced and under staffed. I surely wont be back. New prices on used firearms. I urge anyone to go elsewhere. Buds, academy, anywhere is better.
Great place! Hands down the best!
Baited and switched on a price. I called on the phone to confirm a price. I came the next day and was given a completely different explanation and a higher price. I wont be back.
Love this place. Lots of accessories and parts anything you need they got it.
Great place for all your fire arms needs. Wonderful sales associates.
Great place. If you have knives bring them!!! Ask for Doc. He will make them dangerously sharp. Smaller knives are $5 and larger are $7 or $8 ... Dont recall.
Their customer service sucks. Stand around a long time, finally someone acknowledges Im there by saying theyll be right with me, as they disappear into the back. Emailed them about an inquiry; never got a response. Terrible service; high prices.
Awesome place helpful staff. Did a quick ffl transfer for me.
Nice selection of guns and other hunting supplies, if youre looking to buy a hunting rifle, suppressed pistol, A FLAME THROWER or even a WW2 antitank sniper rifle that will set you back 20k this is your place. Check this place out if your a gun enthusiast, it will not disappoint.
So... to be honest, my wife saved me from this place. I recently purchased a colt from this place that, as it turned out, had issues from the start (this is a used gun they sold at almost full price aka same as new). They wanted to charge so much to fix a extractor issue it would surpass cost of if I had bought a new gun.So I go today to try and trade up... long story short... its a case of them over charging for a used pistol... a pistol WITH issues AND already filled with carbon. And the owner flat out told me if I dont like the deal, dont get it.... vs lowering cost to actual value of pistol. Though the cost of redoing finish of barrel and cleaning it was going to be free... bottom line is it was a dirty and scrapped up pistol (S&W1911 performence center) being sold at price of brand new one. (Price with them... $1600, without tool to help tear down and missing 1 of 2 mags, worn down barrel, scratches, and a bunch of carbon already on it/ price elsewhere $1300-1500...NEW with bushing tool and 2 mags, no scratches, no worn parts, and no carbon). What does that tell ya?At fist I was mad at my wife for dragging me out... but she truly saved me from getting ripped off... AGAIN.Im done with this place.
Courteous staff, easy and inexpensive transfer process. ..will return business for sure
My sons first gun was a Rossi 22/410. Just a good little gun wrapped in a great deal of sentimental value. My father-in-law took the gun to an out of town gun smith several years ago to have the stock modified. The end result was not so great. Looked pretty bad and somewhat unsafe. I spent several hours online and on the phone trying to find a replacement stock that would fit, have a great look and simply allow us to place my sons 1st gun in a shadow box as a keep sake.DIY was working and I wasnt have any luck with the manufacturer.I took the gun into Ranger not knowing what the end result would be.After sometime and the ping pong of a few ideas, Ranger called to let me know they had worked it out and that the weapon was ready for pick up.They found what I needed, modified it to fit, polished the peice and I couldnt ask for more! They solved the issue regarding the look and fully restored the guns function. We have decided to keep it in service for a while and allow my young daughter to take her 1st shots with it as well.Great team, great service. Thank you Ranger Firearms.
I purchased my rifle online, and the whole staff made the whole experience smooth and easy. I plan on purchasing more from them in the future.
