Brought car in for a $115 diagnostic report to find issue with a rough start. They confidently claimed it was a fuel pump issue which they wanted to charge $800. I got the fuel pump replaced with a brand new one and car still has the same issue. $330 dollars down and car still has the same issue. They wanted to charge again to re-evaluate the problem. Dont come here.

After my 2012 BMW 328i broke down off the I-60 in Apache Junction, I called Sun Devil Auto and spoke to Chris. He calmed me down and had me tow the vehicle to his shop in Tempe. The following day, he provided me a diagnosis and an estimate for the repair. He let me know that my high pressured fuel pump was the root cause of the problem and that it needed to be replaced. Chris also saved me lots of money as compared to the what the dealership would have charged me. I was on back on my feet the following day. Thank you Chris for keeping me calm, saving me money and putting me back on my feet!

I am new to the area and was told that this was a good company although they hadn’t gone to this particular auto shop since it was farther away from their home. I went because my car wasn’t driving right. They told me it would take all day to check my car. I had to wait till the next day only to find out they were going to charge me thousands of dollars worth of work. And they said it would take them 6-7 hours of labor charges. I decided to get a second opinion and it was the best decision. Not only did I not need all those repairs but I saved myself hundreds of dollars! I would not recommend this place

Had to replace front shocks on Tundra after off road damage. Job was done on time and everything works great.

Charged me $450 dollars for a thermostat replacement! Replaced housing when did not need to be replaced. Said flushed coolant but was low the next day! I have a chilton and it says only remove top three bolts and replace thermostat! I know there isn’t honest mechanic out there but this takes the cake!

First time bringing my car here and it went well. Service was fast - about an hour for an oil change. No one tried to upcharge me for ridiculous things. It was exactly what I wanted, what I brought it in for, no fuss or muss.

My van broke down on freeway and had it towed to the shop and they were very helpful to me and my kids and mother in law. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and order parts. They helped us find hotel to stay at and drove us and picked us up. Very thankful for the quick service, decent price and kindness .

When I pulled in the Sun devil Auto around 8:30 a.m. I could tell my brakes were starting to go a little bad there was no noise no squeaking no metal to metal nothing significant wrong with them. I waited for the inspection and when I drove out of Sun devil Auto my brakes squealed I could hear and feel metal to metal and they werent stopping like they were when I drove in.I am very disappointed in whatever happened during my brake inspection. I know my brakes were worse when I left Sun devil auto. Unfortunately I will not be doing business at your establishment.

Wayne provided stellar customer service, the mechanic working on my vehicle paid professional attention to the needs of my truck. On top of all this, my AC is working better than it has in a decade.

These guys are on point. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and absolutely know what they are doing. The management team is nothing less than professional! I have had two great experiences with this Sun Devil Auto location in the last month. The first was last month when I came in for a second opinion on my brakes, which the dealer told me needed to be replaced ASAP (along with a belt that had cracked and also needed to be replaced). They took a look and said that the belt was definitely cracked, but the brake pads were only 50% worn so I didnt need to get them replaced any time soon. Then today, I heard something dragging underneath my car (part of the undercarriage) so I brought it in and they got me all fixed up and didnt charge me anything. Its great knowing I have an auto-repair place I can trust!

This is a great place to trust. I know cars, but technology has passed me by. I have never had them try to pull anything over on me. Their prices are always fair. I trust them so much all my kids cars go here also. Its my suggestion you take yours there too.

I visited for my car servicing(oil change).There was no error on the dash board except oil change.When I was driving back to home suddenly BREAK WARE error appeared.I called sun devil and asked them why it was showing this message. They simply answered after break pad installation you didn’t put/fix the sensor properly.I clearly told them those were installed 8 months back and why error is popinng up now.SAME ANSWER AGAIN.To fix this issue they are asking me to pay 110$ extra.By visiting this center unnecessarily I put up extra problems for my vehicle.

Took my car in to have a new starter installed. When I picked the car up there was damage to the passenger side rear door it had a HUGE DENT IN IT AND SCRATCHES THAT HAD TAKEN THE PAINT OFF WITH IT. The front Passenger side door had a Large scratch also that had taken the paint off with it. After several calls the shop agreed to have it fixed. I was glad they took responsibility and agreed to repair it.

They could not give me a decade time frame so I didnt have them do the work.

Came in for an appointment at 10, only to find out they gave my slot to the 11 appointment?!... ended up having to wait nearly an hour for my oil change, resulting in me being late to picking up my daughter from practice. Horrible service. Next time, just let me know that making an appointment does absolutely nothing.👌

Took my VW in because the EPC light and engine light were on. Was quoted $800 for the fix. Ended up being only $670 for everything. Great customer service and had everything done in 4 hours.

Chris went above and beyond to get my Jeep fixed right. I had a noise under hood and a few random codes. I needed a rental during my repairs and Chris sent someone to my house to pick me up and bring me to the rental car place! I couldnt be happier with the service and professionalism. Brought my vehicle in Saturday for an oil change. No appointment, so I was advised to drop it off as it would take a few hours. Totally understandable. I pick my vehicle up and pay $74.90 for an oil change. However upon driving I notice the service required messaging on my dashboard. I thought maybe they just forgot to clear it. Yet after a few miles another message low oil level add oil. I immediately wonder how so given Id just recieved an oil change. I call and Chris suggest I bring it in tomorrow when theyre open. The next day, I start the vehicle and 10 miles in, it says LOW OIL LEVEL STOP SAFELY . I bring the vehicle in and Chnoris states its likely a sensor. Mind you the sensor is working properly as its relaying msgs. They reassure me that their is oil in the car. However it had been running so an accurate reading couldnt be determined unless the vehicle sat for a while to give the oil time to settle in the pan. I try to look myself and notice they are using plyers to pull my dip stick as its completely broken off. I ask what happened and the tech says thats how I brought it in o_O. I leave again . The next morning the vehicle says LOW OIL LEVEL STOP ENGINE. I check the oil 7 hours later and there is indeed NO OIL IN MY CAR ! After calling the office a tow truck is dispatched for my vehicle. I wait 1hr and a half and the tow finally arrives apologetic. He again confirms with me there is no oil in the car and says e was dispatched 10 min ago. Although Id been waiting 90. I had to take a Lyft from Chandler to Gilbert back to Tempe. Only to be told they added 5 qts instead of 7. Although the dipstick was bone dry lol. I will never patronize this franchise again . I dont trust that my oil filter was even changed . Out of $75 for an oil change, $50 in Lfyt fees, not sure what the cost of dip stick will be for a Volv and a lot of time and energy. Wasnt reimbursed 1 penny !

Took my Alfa Romeo in for the first time here after going to kia horne who did not put the correct amount of oil in. I was extremely paranoid leaving my car here but Wayne really had ne confident they would get it right and HE WAS RIGHT! I have also taking my BMW here before they also worked with my maintenance contract had it done in about an hour. I can say this place is ran by good people who know what they are doing!

Its lovely to be lied to about being next in line and shouldnt take long only to waste 4 hours waiting on an oil change.

They were great. I have referred my son to them because I have gained so much trust in them.

I used to take my car there and I had good service.Ive been looking for a 2012 Range Rover for two years after I lost my other one.Normally I can bring in a car that Im looking at to purchase and they will give me a good evaluation.Not so anymore. I paid the $64 and I got the information that the tires were worn.there are multiple things wrong with a car and I went off the fact that they found nothing wrong with the car. ended up the word number of things wrong so the $64 was wasted. The service was below average. And I was treated with an uppity attitude.I used to go to Chris and Chris was a very good customer service person. However the manager who runs the place is not and its cold and does not give you a warm fuzzy feeling. I will not be back. I used to drive approximate 88 mi round trip just to have them service my car sI have a 2004 Land Rover a 2011 Range Rover a 2008 Buick a 2010 RAV4 a 2006 Scion. None of which I will personally be bringing in for service.Update May 6 2019I am not sure what is going on with this location.... I never have had an issue with them. They took the Range Rover in and diagnosed a few issues that took a bit of time but they found the problem and traced it to a faulty alternator = They replaced the alternator and battery that died in the process. I came to pick up the car and they said that the repair was taken care of -and there was no charge. I assume that the warranty took care of the alternator but the battery, they comped. I cannot believe this. Thank you Chris and Mark at Store #3. Chris told me that Sun Devil Auto is a family owned business and each store will take care of you the same. They have linked computers that know your history, which makes things very cool to get work done at other locations. I have taken my Land Rover D2, my Jeep Wrangler, Buick Enclave, my steps sons Blazar, my Range Rover and now my step daughters Saturn SUV. I am thankful for their service and the help they have done for my family.

I am the original owner of a vehicle with over 252,000 trouble free miles. My transmission finally blew out. I took a chance on this repair shop. Expecting the worst diagnosis and expense was expected. The difference was the tireless efforts by Joe to offer me a discount on rental car, shuttle service, discounts, warranty and overall competency. After receiving my vehicle with a newly rebuilt transmission, I needed to test their work in order to find value. I pushed my car to 90 mph on multiple occasions. What a performance. I was very impressed and satisfied. I have returned for both my axles and serpentine belt replacement once again a 10 percent discount was applied and once again I am satisfied. By the way, I am an employed journeyman mechanic for an auto auction facility in Chandler and learned a few things about professionalism and customer service from Joe and his staff. Lets cut to the chase.. DO NOT GO HERE. I have had my vehicle brought in many times for a reoccurring problem to my vehicle and each time they discover a new root to problem that costs $500+ every visit. They accidentally cut my fuel lines causing me to lose a tank of gas on the drive home. a week later I took my vehicle back here for a diagnostic due to my engine failing to start, Chris then started to begin $700 alternator work WITHOUT permission. making me come in and have them pull the phone call to prove myself. I then had to argue my car back from ransom. the manager Chris then lit a cigarette and threw my alternator into the passenger seat like it was a football. I then moved my car to an independent auto shop where they showed me the alternator was NOT even the problem.Sun Devil auto has gone down hill in the last 1 & 1/2 years. now they appear to be more interested in burning a hole in your wallet rather than providing honest work and customer service. they lost a customer today. such a shame

Buyer Beware.....Make sure you are able to confirm any work they perform on your car.... I took my car in for a quick oil filter and oil change. When I received the car back I noticed some oil smell coming from the engine. I opened up the hood and found the technician forgot to put the oil cap back on. Now this is not a big deal, people forget things especially when trying to get a job done quickly (wait time was ~ an hour for me). Although just to make sure I decided to check the oil filter. To do this I had to lay on the hot asphalt and look under the car which is pretty uncomfortable in Arizona summer heat.... To my surprise they did not change the oil filter....I could tell because there was still mud on it from the last time I went driving through muddy roads. I Talked with the front office, they brought the car back into the shop, we checked it together and i pointed it out the mud and lack of oil (filter is installed horizontally so there is always residual oil when the filter is removed even when the oiltank is emptied) . They agreed it wasnt done and corrected it . Make sure you are able to confirm any work they perform on your car. Or you risk major issues down the road... Date of service was 07/19/2019 @ 1445, invoice number 82408 if confirmation is needed.

I would highly not recommend this auto shop for any type of vehicle service whatsoever. I went to ask for my vehicle A/C to be refilled, the refrigerant which had leaked out due to a valve on the compressor going bad but, I replaced it before asking Sun Devil Auto. My A/C was working fine prior to the leak (is still is now :) ) all I asked for the refilling but, they did not do it when picking up my vehicle, they gave me a long list of repairs for my A/C system would need in order for my A/C to work, over $2,000 in repairs alone. I told them no, I drove my vehicle home and notice it wasnt running as smooth, I parked at an autozone on the way home and notice they had left a vacuum line unhooked. I went to an automotive institute and asked them if they could re-fill my refrigerant. They end it up doing it for FREE. All that cost me was $10 for my leaked valve (including shipping). Sun Devil Auto pfft, dont bother to even ask for a quote for anything, if you car breaks down near there, there is an autozone right next, ask them for help.

I went to sundevil for a oil change tire rotation and vehicle inspection for 24.95 it took 1- 1/2 hrs when it should have took 20 mins oil was overfilled and leaked all over my parking space at my apt my lug nut were loose and was stripped and missing and my wheel bearing needs replaced my wheel is about to fall off and to dangerous to drive and nobody said nothing about this bad service very redickulas

Very rude management. When car problems discussed they were very rude when I asked for explanations. Told them I replaced parts and they insisted I didn’t calling me a liar. Will never do business with them again.

Ask for Wayne or Chris. They are the best shop I have found in 30 years! The kind of shop that listens to you and then works to find and solve the issue. They work with my warrantee company and have my rental lined up and Im in and out and on the road in no time. Call ahead and tell them whats going on and set an appointment. Youll be glad you did!

I recently brought my car to this location because it was having a bumping feeling while accelerating. They ended up declaring that the carburetor was pumping to much gas into the engine and the power steering pump needed to be replaced (all of which was true). However, after bringing it to their shop. The bumping turned into stalling. I have broke down multiple times while driving. I brought the car back three times and they still never found the problem. They even told me, when it starts stalling, pull out your phone and record the incident, so we can have an idea. So as Im stalling in traffic, I should whip out my phone? Everytime I drove off their lot, they claimed not to find any problems. I wasted my time and money.

My car died and i panicked, not knowing what was wrong with my car and how much it would cost. I went into this establishment and seriously had the best experience! They worked with me and my warranty and i ended up paying only the deductible! They ordered my part and had my car running in no time. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will ONLY come here for oil changes and etc.

Went in on 5/7/18 for a free A/C inspection. Air was not blowing cold enough. Thought I just needed coolant. Im told I need a new A/C compressor. $1,200+ to replace. I decline it and pick up my car and its blowing hot air. Hmmm...I wonder what happened?? Buyer beware...nothing is free!!!*Update - took my car to another repair shop. Turns out a valve needed to be replaced. New compressor not needed!! Able to repair it at a fraction of the cost.

My experience started with telling Chris about my brake issue! Had an appointment for a different day, but after calling Chris the day before, he had me take my car in early, found out the actual problem, and by THAT afternoon, my car was fixed and SAFELY back on the road! Lousy customer service . What bothers me the most is not calling back when they promise they would. Heather who workes in their office is full of promises but never delivers. Its all good till they get your money, then its all broken promises after that. Stay away

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sun Devil Auto on Elliot and McClintock in Tempe. My car had died in a grocery store parking lot and I was very stressed. The manager Chris had my car towed the next morning and let me know what was going on periodically throughout the day. They had to replace my starter and their prices were fair and they were very quick. The manager Chris was friendly and explained everything that needed to be done. They also give a 10% discount if you are a first time customer. I will definitely be back to this location!

Check engine light was on and car was running terrible, left it with Sun Devil for the day for diagnosis and repair and when I picked the vehicle up it now runs great. Im a guy that looks for stuff thats not right and could not find anything wrong so I give five stars this visit.

Wayne was able to help me out when Jiffy Lube was unable to let me pickup my car after hours. I have already recommended this place to multiple friends as they really do seem to be more customer-focused as Wayne put it.

Came to this location because my regular one was booked. I had an 830 appointment, it took a little over an hour and a half for my oil change and inspection. Customer service was a little rude. The chandler location is much more friendly. Not the normal sun devil experience Im used to i guess.

I have been coming to Dave Hyland at Sun Devil Auto for over 7 years. I have had nothing but great service and excellent prices for my repairs over the years. I have had extensive work done on my cars such as ball joints,/suspension, brakes, transmission servicing, and struts, not just oil changes. They stand behind their work, are always direct and honest with the costs and have never created phony repairs like many shops do. I will always take all of my vehicles to Dave....hes the best Ive ever done business with and his staff in the work bays are skilled, always courteous and personable. This place is legit!!!

Havent been here in a while but last time I went 4 years ago they gave me a list of very urgent issues and almost didnt let me leave since my car was in bad condition. 4 years later not a single issue or item they mentioned has ever been brought to my attention from another mechanic. My advise, dont waste your time.

Never been to a shop to get an alignment and didn’t receive an alignment report. Only benefit is they fit me in towards the end of the day.

The good: theyll drive you back to work or home so you dont have to wait there.The not-good: a radiator they installed was bad and had to be replaced. This was found by a different auto repair shop. When i went back to sun devil they replaced it for free. The issue was that sun devil charged me for a new radiator but according to the other shop it was a used one. So did they over charge me? maybe.Another thing, I had some valve work done there they replaced the timing belt and the valve cover set and gaskets. A different shop is saying that the valve seals need to be replaced to remedy the blue smoke but why didnt sun devil auto do that repair when they valve cover assembly was disassembled? I dont know.Comments: I think this place is okay.

We have been taking our cars to Tempe Sun Devil for about 5 years.Since our cars are both over 10 years old (a Honda Civic and a Toyota Highlander) we see this garage more than wed like to. However, in our opinion these guys are honest, professional and knowledgeable. What else could you want from your auto mechanics?

I got an Ill change back in November of 2018. Took about 30 minutes. This was my first experience at an auto center. There were refreshments (coffee and water) available for free and some magazines. I recall there being windshield wipers for sell in the lobby but I didnt take note of the prices. Im going back today for a busted CV axle and bent Passanger control arm. They said they xould have my car back to me by the end of the day (hopefully sooner). Spoke fo Wayne and he was cool. Great place and I trust them.

Sun Devil Auto is amazing!! On Valentines Day 2015, my breaks failed and they had no problem taking me in and getting my truck fixed that day. The called around and found the part I needed and worked fast so I didnt have to bum rides or go out of pocket for a rental. A week before Christmas my water pump blew and same deal. Got me in and fixed my truck up and got me on the road the same day. I know a lot of other shops that would keep your vehicle for days and surprise you with a bill inclusive of many things you did not agree to or know you needed fixed. They were very honest and communicated everything with me and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of. Best service ever.

I had to give at least one star NOT BY CHOICE!, however let me start by saying this location is absolutely horrible i wont tarnish all locations but i had recently took my car in with my fiance to get a simple oil change for them to tell me something else was wrong with my car so they ran a compression test that i was UNAWARE of i might add he later told me i needed a new engine (no check engine light)and that it was un driveable and they advised me to leave it there they would give me more information the following morning so i called the next morning and i told them i would come pick it up after work my car is less than a year old with warranty so i was going to contact my dealership and have them take a look at it went to retrieve my vehicle and i received it with missing engine parts got two minutes down the road car over heated and i pulled over to check under the hood and noticed called them right away just to get from mark sorry i didnt check we didnt know what we were doing with it.. Completely disgusted and wont be returning and will be letting yelp know as well if i can save someone else from potentiality be ripped off i did my job.

First time I brought my car in for New brakes and had to bring it back shortly after because the New brakes they put on were Bad and screeching...Second time I brought it I asked for air in my tires and a refill on wiper fluid, neither were done. I also asked for a check on my engine light which they made sure to charge me $120 for diagnostic fee even tho Auto Zone does that for free. I give second chances but not third, I wont be coming back.

STAY AWAY. SHADY!!! I HAD MY AC SERVICED AT DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND JUST WANTED TO GET 2ND OPINION ON IT. OTHER MECHANIC FLUSHED AND REFILLED AC SYSTEM. WELL THESE CROOKS CALLED ME AND SAID THAT MY AC WAS EMPTY AND NEED RECHARGE AND WOULD BE 150 DOLLARS!!! CALLED THEIR BLUFF AND SAID REALLY JUST HAD SERVICED AND GUY SAID WELL ITS EMPTY. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP CAR SHOWED PAPERWORK AND SAME GUY SAID WELL MAYBE THERE IS A LEAK. SHOWED HIM NO LEAK FOUND PRIOR AND TOLD HIM SHOULD BEEN FULL. SO IT SEEMS NOW ALL OF SUDDEN IT WAS HALF WAY AND NOT EMPTY CALLED HIM ON IT AND TOLD HIM HE SAID WAS EMPTY AND HE SAID WELL ITS NOT COMPLETELY EMPTY. OK WHICH IS IT EMPTY OR HALFWAY...TOOK MY KEYS NEVER WENT BACK...BUNCH OF BULL...STAY AWAY ANOTHER SHADY MECHANIC...THEY WILL TRY AND TAKE YOUR MONEY

I came to change the oil and they didnt put any oil in My car and just told me its done .I got the car and its smoke a lot and the engineer got bad a few days later .I come to the store and they asked me to pay another 575$ to repair the car ! if you have anything to do for your car .please be careful to choose this store .they will ask you to do one by one and pay More than you should . it waste me three times to come to just change oil .OK. My car is broken now and I should GO to another store to repair it !!!.please be careful to choose the store!!!

The service seems to have worked but it was just too expensive! I went in for brake pads and wound up having to get almost my entire front brakes replaced. They just argued with me about what repairs could be done and dont seem to realize what a burden it is to put that kind of money into an older car that Im trying to trade in within a few months. The cost is just too much! Auto repairs are a rip off basically any where anymore!

They have always been amazing. Ive never been lied to or cheated out of money here. I have a vw passat and they take great care of it and me. I will never take my cars anywhere else.

They dont communicate to each other so no one knows whats going on. Their work is not 100% guaranteed. They are very slow. Dont expect to get your car back for a while. I had my transmission replaced and the day I drove it off the lot the transmission was still jumping gears. They like to make excuses on why they cant get their act together. If you value your time, money, and car Sun Devil Auto is not the place to go!! I dont want to be the guy who says told you so

DO NOT, I Repeat DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this location. Called and made an appointment with chris a week out. Was told $19.99 and about an hour. Called the day of spoke to Chris again, he advised it would take 5 hours to change the oil. 5 hours? I have had a whole transmission installed faster than that. Ask why did I even make an appointment. Chris then said if you dont like it your appointment is cancelled and hung up on me. WOW!!! Will never do business with chris or Sun Devil again.

Very unhappy with this shop for trying to charge me a lot of money for something that was not the problem. Not going to return to this shop.
