From the moment I walked in the door, I wanted to leave. But I needed the truck and did not have the time to go elsewhere. The Manager was rude and not accountable. Aside from her snippy attitude, I did not appreciate have to wait outside in the parking lot for 15 minutes for her to get the truck. When checking out the truck, she missed the cracked mirror, the power steering was whining and it had a burnt out headlight. When I pointed them out she copped an attitude, told she had no idea if the headlight was burnt out, despite us both looking at both headlights. She then told me there was nothing she would do about it and that I would have to go down the street to get it fixed. Nothing like the customer fixing the problem. These things should have been inspect and repaired when the last person dropped off the truck. I checked the back of the truck for the equipment I rented and she again copped an attitude, she told she did not show that I rented pads, just a dolly, I turned the page of my contract showed her I was charged for them.If she is unhappy about her job, she needs to find another one, if she is unable to do everything herself, hire more people, if she has no idea how to inspect a truck for the basic proper and DOT required functions, she needs to educate herself. Even if it something else, never take it out on the customer. I have my personal thoughts on why she did not like me but I will not post them in a public forum.On the opposite end of the spectrum, the place I dropped off the truck in Oregon was awesome!
AMAZING customer service!!!!! The women we worked with were incredibly helpful and flexible. We asked to have her show us how to hook up the hitch and she walked us through step by step. I cant recommend this location enough. Great price, great customer service.
Didnt like standing outside the building in 100 + degree heat to confirm a reservation and license check. Truck was nice but the bed was filthy. Needed to sweep and mop the dirty floor.
Theyre very busy and its not always easy to get them on the phone I think because they run a rental truck business plus self storage unit business both. But OTHER THAN THAT... GREAT PRICES...THE BEST PRICES!! AND CHUCK THE GUY THAT HELPED ME WITH TRUCK AND CAR HAULING WAS VERY, VERY KIND, HELPFUL AND EFFICIENT!! I tell everyone about this place. Its really a great company! I was referred by friends and now I tell others, too. Great place!!!
Anytime we have moved (which is frequently in our type if work) we have always used Penske. One time we had trouble with a tire while traveling and they sent someone right away to fix it. Another time we found the truck roof leaked and they immediately replaced it. These are incidents of problems, but out of 10 moves over 25 years and only 2 problems is pretty good. LOVE the flexible schedule dates.
Used them to move from ca to az about 800 mils. Passed 3 broke down u-hall trucks. Truck did fine and it was cheaper then the competition
We rented a truck for a few hours to move across town. They were clearly under-staffed to start. There was only one person working when we showed up and with only one person ahead of us in line we ended up waiting 45 mins just to be helped. The lady who helped us was nice but apparently Penske doesnt train very well on their policies. We asked for a rental for one day and we could either return it to this location or drop off at the location in East Mesa; it didnt matter to us, we told her whichever was cheaper. She said it wasnt cheaper either way and when she filled out all the info she seemed very confused that it was charging us for 2 whole days. After trying to get it to only charge for 1 day rental with no luck, she reassured us they would fix it when we drop it off at the other location and reimburse us for the extra day. But when we dropped off the truck at the Home Depot location in East Mesa, we were told they could not reimburse us and the representative at Cubesmart misinformed us and we would have only been charged for one day if we returned it to Cubesmart. They wouldnt even let us change the return location and were told to come back the next day to talk to a manager about the refund. After returning to Home Depot and talking to a Penske manager on the phone about it the next day we were told once again there was nothing they could do and we wouldnt be getting a refund. We will never use Penske again because they dont train their reps well and cheat you out of money with no remorse.
Rental return was an odd process. Drive the truck to the back of the yard, come back. Only one at the counter that has to work both the gate and the return. Gets overwhelmed if theres more than a couple waiting
Horrible automated phone system that just keeps looping you over and over through the same stuff. I had to give up and call a different company.
