I had a wonderful experience here.I scheduled an inspection for an old truck I recently purchased and unfortunately the truck broke down on the way.I am not as mechanical as I want to be and I want to learn so diagnosing my issues is huge for my project. As I was calling to reschedule the appointment due to not being able to arrive on time I was told to tow it in and they will do their best to handle my situation. They were able to perform the detailed inspection, identify the issues I was having, and give me solutions to fix and have it road ready same day.I will forever recommend Brian McLean and everyone at this shop for helping me.I will be back
My experience with Modern Classics Auto Service was excellent! From my initial discussion with Steve to my greeting with Michelle they were professional and customer oriented. I received a detailed analysis of the issues with a cost estimate. Steve went beyond my expectations with the repairs and honestly I now have a better car. Everything that was diagnosed was repaired and I was provided the failed parts with a full explanation of the repairs. Repairing a classic hot rod can be expensive so you want to make sure the shop you are using is not only honest, but knows what they are doing. Modern Classics is both, and after using two other shops that were not, Modern Classics will be the only repair shop my car will enter in the future.
Having a classic car can be challenging. My 1963 Fuel Injected Corvette is no exception and I ONLY trust Modern Classics to perform any needed repairs. Theyve rebuilt the fuel injection system, front end, and are currently working on the rear. After 4-5 visits the car always turns out great! Ive read some reviews saying they are expensive. Like anything else, you get what you pay for. This is a specialty shop with extremely knowledgeable staff. They know exactly what they are doing. Ive never had to come back with a continuing problem. When my car is in the shop, I stop by regularly. The staff always spends time with me and explains their progress on my vehicle. Its obvious the staff has a passion for what they do and enjoy working on these specialty cars.Ive always had positive experiences with Modern Classics. The staff and quality of work is second to none.
Very polite &professional . Went in the day before almost closing time they set me up for first thing in the morning. They called me 1 hour later problem solved. I we’ll definitely recommend them to my friends and family.Great bunch of folks
The only place to service my car ever...👍🤗👍
Wow!, I am shocked by the negative reviews posted ;^(I have gone to Modern Classics several times over the past decade for work on two different Corvettes I have owned. I have always had excellent results at reasonable prices. Steve is a stand up guy that hires excellent mechanics and the shop is well equipped for any issues. When I cant handle an issue myself, my Vettes go to Steve.Jim
Great people nice shop always great advice and top notch service. The Corvette has never been happier
Had a laundry list of work done on my Rambler Wagon, as anyone should expect when doing a full custom restoration there will be hurdles. The owner, Steve and office staffer Michelle kept me apprised of all the work that was going on.The shop is super clean and organized, great parking lot to unload a vehicle if it has to be trailered in/out.I will be bringing my C10 in very soon.
Please save your money and the headache. Inferior parts when charged premium. Drove off the lot, after way to much time to make repairs and made it 8 miles and had to towed back to Modern Classics. Then to be told there is nothing wrong. Total Rip Off.
I had Steve and his crew do a big conversion job, that had lots of room for error, and these guys executed the job perfectly. He quoted me a fair price, and a fast timeline, and came in exactly where he said he would be on both price and time. I couldnt be happier with the work they did, I will be bringing my car back for sure! Highly recommend these guys if you want your classic car done right!
These guys are not friendly and I got treated very poorly and like I didnt know anything about cars by Steve the Owner. His shop was recommended to me by a member of our Mustang club.I will never go there again even though his shop is conveniently close to my house. To pull the gas tank out of my car fix one fuel line an two clamps and check the fuel pumps was for labor only was over $600 in labor and $160 in parts including 15 gallons of gas at $3.00 a half gallon which I didnt even ask for! and then on top of that he install a new fuel filter which the car didnt need since it just had one installed less than 3,000 miles ago! for a total bill of $984!!. And after all of that they still didnt check to see If I had a loss of fuel pressure which is why I brought it in. it was like here pay us and figure the rest out yourself! This guys prices are a ripoff!! I will not recommend his shop to anyone in my Mustang club.He is charging Outrageous prices and did not notify of any of the cost until I showed up to pick up my car!! The Ford Dealer even said the guy ripped me off! especially the fuel pump check procedure was a crock!! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!
I recently bought a 1990 Corvette. It had a problem with wiper blades getting stuck under the hood. I went to the dealer and they could not help. Tried a bodyshop and they could not help. Went online and got totally confused. It’s a common problem with this year. Luckily, I went to Modern Classic Auto Service, and I was helped on the spot! I paid them for wiper blades and they work. So, they have earned my business. I’ll need an oil change any day now. I’ll go there. It’s comforting to know that my fancy sports car can be maintained by such a knowledgeable shop.
I asked for a quote to have a supercharger installed. The breakdown for the labor was quoted at 40 hours. This is a 20 hour job max. Owner Steve did redo the estimate after we talked about the inflated labor cost. I understand costs many vary but to pad an estimate 20 hours seems a bit excessive. Had I not done a little research I may have been overcharged $2200. Not a good feeling. I already feel taken advantage of. This review is intended to encourage the owner to rethink how good faith estimates are written. I for one just want honest, accurate info to base my decisions on.
AWESOME REPAIR SHOP!!!!I generally work on my own 1978 280z, but in this case was having issues passing DEQ. After several phone calls to other shops with no success, (No one wants to work on older vehicles) I found Modern Classics Auto. I drove directly there with no appointment and Michelle kindly got a technician to look at it immediately (Rare to find that service in todays world.) The final outcome was exceeded my expectations. Steve was able to find out exactly was needed adjusting to get the correct fuel/air mixture and I was able to PASS!!!! If you do your research, there are not many shops out there that still have gas analyzers for DEQ. I would highly recommend this shop, and believe you will be pleasantly surprised if you have realistic expectations
These guys are awesome! They have worked on my C5 Vette, Jeep Wrangler and Old Tahoe. The work is excellent. The cost is low compared to other shops. The quality of work and knowledge of the techs is unmatched.
I really want to get a car from here.
A little pricey. But well worth it. Great work done here.
Had my 65 Corvair in their shop to have a stalling problem checked. The next day I go to get the car and they said that they could not work on it and it had a bad knock in the engine. They were very rude and not helpful at all. No suggestions on what to do or recommendations for a mechanic that could work on a Corvair. I guess if you dont have a ton of cash and a car that cost more than $20k you dont even get respect here. On top of that they charged me almost $200 to tell me they could not work on it . LAME!!!!!
If I could give zero stars I would.. Two trips and $1100 later my car is still not running.. I took it for an oil change to learn that their is a massive oil and transmission leak that this shop missed. Steve claims that they dont check these types of things when someone brings a car to them and asks them to get it running. How do you not check the oil?? Upon confronting him, he did nothing but argue and tell me that hes not going to rebuild a motor without having too. What does any of that have to do with not checking the oil? Had they properly inspected the vehicle they would have noticed the oil was low and the entire undercarriage of the car is coated in oil.. I have spoken with other shops and they absolutely agree that it should have been noticed. Its clear that they flat out didnt even check the oil.. There are more 1 star reviews for this shop than any others. Let that be enough for you to make the decision to NOT bring your car here.. Steve who from my understanding is the owner is very unprofessional. He also hung up on me for asking questions that he didnt have a good answer for.. Save your time and money, take your vehicle elsewhere. I for one will be going to the Better Business Bureau as well as a few other alternatives. In response to the owners response. I never once raised my voice until they posted personal information in which my home address could have been found.. I then firmly expressed my disapproval but I did not yell at any point though I did use a few vulgar words out of frustration. I apologize for that. Now... We were never notified of the engine oil leaks they say they found while repairing the exhaust leaks. They did put it in the paper work they gave my (mother). They did not tell her anything about it because if they did, we absolutely would have wanted it fixed just like we wanted the exhaust leaks fixed.. When she brought the car to you telling you of the problems we had she was merely guessing. She is not a mechanic, you should not have limited your investigation in how to get a car running properly based on a middle age womans inquiry who knows nothing about vehicles. You should assume nothing and do your proper due diligence. Lets say we were entertaining the idea of selling the vehicle. I assure you we would not have wanted to sell a vehicle with knowledge of outstanding motor troubles.. However, we are not selling the vehicle and I dont see how that has any relevancy in response to our complaints.
My car broke down on the way home from the shop. I got it towed and spent more money on duplicate labor. It broke down the next day and when I called Steve he said it wasnt his fault. He said he wouldnt take accountability for his work unless i did a full restoration... dont take your car here unless youre planning on doing a full restoration.
Excellent service. Reliable, trustworthy and friendly; the mechanics are excellent.
Reviews are how many of us decide on which automotive repair facility to use so I would like to share our unfortunate experience with Modern Classics. My son had previously utilized Modern Classics for a used vehicle inspection so he approached the owner Steve Heino about installing a new clutch and master cylinder in his late model Pontiac Trans Am. After reviewing the list of aftermarket performance parts he wish to have installed, Steve said to allow one day or 8 hours to complete the work. My son informed Steve he is a college student with limited income so he wanted him to error on the high side for time related to the repairs because he was going to have to save money for a few months to cover the cost. Steve reiterated that 8 hours should be enough labor time to cover the clutch install and master cylinder. After saving for several months my son made an appointment to drop the car off for repairs. He delivered the vehicle on a Friday in January 2016. The repairs were scheduled for the following Monday. At the end of Monday towards shop closing, my son called to ask if he could pick up his car, Steve told him that his technician was having troubles installing the master cylinder and had to work on the clutch assembly instead, and the car was going to be ready by end of the day on Tuesday. We did not receive any messages or phone calls the following day. My son called on Wednesday around noon, and asked about the car and they said that it would be done within a couple of hours. Steve Heino called my son in the afternoon on Wednesday, he indicated the job had been completed, and he should take a few precautions while driving it with the adjustment of the master cylinder - we were never informed that the charges would be any different than originally quoted - at that point, my son was going to ask him a question regarding the charges, but he then hung up like he was in a hurry. My son and I drove over to pick up the vehicle, and to our surprise the charges were almost 2.5 times what was originally quoted. I informed the office staff that the charges were excessive, much higher than was originally quoted, and that we were never informed that the charges would be any more than what was quoted. We certainly understand that there can be unforeseen difficulties with vehicle repairs, but to not communicate the additional labor time is inexcusable; especially knowing that the customer bringing the vehicle in for repairs was on a limited budget and had to save up to cover the cost. Terry, the technician that worked on the car called me the following day to try to reach a resolution. He explained that the master cylinder had taken much longer to install than the time Steve Heino had quoted. In an effort to resolve the issue, Terry and I agreed to split the time difference on the master cylinder, and I would help my son cover the portion of the final bill he did not have the funds for; I was not satisfied with this resolution, but really did not want to pursue the issue further. When I finally met Steve Heino in person, he was arrogant and completely unapologetic for any miscommunication. I left the facility feeling disrespected and completely dissatisfied with how we were treated. I would like to say that this is the first review – positive or negative – that I have written about a vendor we have used. My hope is that others will learn from our regrettable experience with this vehicle repair facility. There should be no star highlighted, I had to select at least one to post the review!
Brought my car in to them to have it looked at and give an estimate for repairs. Next thing I know, Im getting a phone call from Steve telling me that I owe him $900 worth of repairs. I never asked him to make these repairs and he told me I authorized it when I never did. I had to go back and forth with him and after much arguing I left $700 later and the car is STILL not running right. I will never return nor will I recommend this shop.
Charged me 450$ and didnt even tune my truck which was a super mild easy to tune truck! Sat there for 6-7 hours while they tried to figure out how to tune it just to be told i had to pay full price! And that if i wanted to pay for more time for them to f it up worse to come back in three weeks!I always used Wongs Performance Engineering before this experience and i have brought stuff to Wong that was Full out Race Engines for the street and i never had one issue!06 silverado, 5.3, 10.5:1 comp, 214-220 cam 114lsa, TBSS intake and TBI also ported the heads but they were pretty mild at 205cc and flow 280in 220exI took it to WPE after i saved more money after i got Gauged!Anyway first Wong was Baffled as to what they were doing in my ECM and once i said where it happened he wasnt surprised! And after 2 hours my truck put down 310rwhp and 318rwtq with76mm stock intake and stock exhaust, previously i ran a 383 i built that put down 425 and 395 at first then 462rwhp and 430rwtq with some changes. So i took off the tbss intake because i was told it wouldnt work, anyway truck ran flawless after Wongs!I am a reasonable man and i understand S happens but you dont dump it on the customer!!!I build engines and port cylinder heads for a living, i also build custom carbs especially Q-jets, i did not have the Software necessary to tune efi my selfAt the time, i just dont want to see other people waist hard earned money here!
Anybody who jumps into a company car with the company name plastered all over and then drives wrecklessly endangering others can not be a good person or someone I would in trust my classic car to repair
