Awesome experience. They were able to look at my Toyota Matrix and diagnose the issue pretty quickly. Due to them being so busy over the weekend, they took a little longer to get me my car back (only about a week longer than usual). However, because of this, they decided to only charge me for the parts as they dont like to keep customers waiting. In the end, it only cost me $80. Really happy with the experience. Car is still running great. Thank you~!

The best experience I have ever had with a mechanic, hands down! I was at my wits-end trying to troubleshoot and repair an issue on my Nissan Titan. Gene listened intently to everything I had done to troubleshoot and actually showed me what was going wrong. He helped me get the issue resolved and back on my road trip.

I was having problems with my 2002 F150. I initially thought it was my transmission and needed a reputable shop asap. I called multiple places and couldnt get an appointment quickly. I called Tualatin Transmission and they were able to get me in next day. They looked at my truck and made some suggestions to repair. The repairs didnt have anything to do with my transmission. I asked how much I owe them and they said no charge. I finally got those repairs done and they were spot on with the diagnosis. I highly recommend them and they have truly earned my business.

John and Eugene were great to work with - I have to say these guys had me sold even before I met them, I had some issues with my FSBronco - John took the time to talk through my problems, told me some things to TRY before I needed to come in to make sure I truly had a Transmission issue.I called back and John mentioned he was running a C-19 special, I got my cost to do a full rebuild worse case and talked through the process and the upgrades. I called around to multiple shops from the big brands to many local guys and TTC had a fair price even before the special and they were definitely not the cheapest either.I dropped off my Bronco with the top off- they kept it inside over nights and weekend ( Thanks again guys! ), they fixed the rig and had it to me a little earlier than expected.Today John called me to follow up up and make sure everything was working well - the customer service with this shop is amazing and felt compelled to share my experience today. I hope I dont need to see them anytime soon but if I ever have issues again they will be the only shop I use, coming from me that means a lot! BTW John you still owe me dinner on that error light bet! Check them out - you can see from the reviews that my story is not uncommon with these guys! Cheers! Eric

Recently we brought our 2002 Suburban to John to have it diagnosed. Originally we took it to Wentworth Chevrolet due to a grinding/whirring sound we were getting while driving, as well as a leak in the rear pinion seal, and told them explicitly thats what we wanted checked out. Wentworth ignored that, latched on to the idea that the transmission (along with the front differential, drivers side wheel hub assembly, oil pan, and transfer case) were all bad, and only gave the pinion seal leak a cursory glance before guessing that the rear differential needed replacement as well (they even admitted as much by saying they didnt get to the rear). They wanted over $8000 to fix it all.Anyway, we were referred to John and Tualatin Transmission. We dropped the car off, and within 24 hours of them looking at it, they were able to determine that all of the problems were coming from the rear differential. We had Gene go ahead with the repair, and it solved all of the problems we were having. No more griding/whirring, no pulling to one side when braking. Were very grateful to John and Gene fixing our car, and saving us a great deal of money. We are not in a position to buy a new car, and being able to fix it at a great savings was a great relief, because we werent sure what we were going to do if the car was going to cost so much to fix. Thanks to John and Gene for taking care of us!

Absolutely top notch. Sam is the lead tech and is a car guy. As a car guy myself, he speaks my language and understands my concerns. I have had several transmissions done by him, and a differential too. He takes the extra time & effort to make sure the job is done right and top spec parts are being used (US Made vs off-shore). Highly recommended, especially if you consider yourself a car guy.

I am giving Tualatin Transmission 5 stars for its excellent customer service. I spoke with John (the owner) over the phone several times to help diagnose my transmission issue. I found his prices to be the best around by $60-80, for a transmission fluid change. He gave me his valuable time in answering all of my questions and concerns. I will continue to goto him for his expertise and friendly manner. Also he never charges for an inspection, ever! I was quoted $115 at another local shop to look my car over, and tell me what needs to be fixed. Hands down John is better than Google!

Tualatin Transmission is the only repair shop I will bring my classic cars to. I have a sixties Ford and I wanted it worked on by experienced mechanics that truly knew my transmission. John and Sam, who run the shop, are fixtures in the local car community and are incredibly professional and helpful. I will never bring my cars to anyone else. I am always hesitant with a new repair shop but there are no worries here. They looked at my car, told me what was needed and fixed it right the first time. I recommend Tualatin Transmission to anyone who needs servicing to their car. Honest, fair, and friendly. I am grateful to have found such a shop. Thanks guys!

My 2000 Ford F150 pickup was having shifting issues. John test drove the pickup, changed the fluid and filter, and found no issues with the transmission. Found that truck needs some engine work (throttle body sensor), which John recommended a mechanic. To top it all off, John gives away a free fluid/filter change a week, and I happened to be the lucky winner.....Tualatin Transmission has rebuild several transmissions for me over the years and I have always have had a A+ experience with their customer service, work completed, and the price....

I would not trust anyone else for transmission repairs. There are many dishonest competitors who will quote for unnecessary repairs; not at Tualatin Transmission! Being a woman without knowledge of mechanics, I find it important to find a competent and trustworthy shop. Over the years, I have taken several of my vehicles here, and have consistently had good experiences with repairs and the staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Tualatin Transmission to friends and family.

When I needed clutch work in my 05 Scion TC, John towed my car from the dealership for free, and did a great job for $500 dollars less than the dealer wanted to charge me! He even had it ready a few days earlier than expected, and came to my house to pick me up when it was ready! Great service, honest, reasonable prices, and he even has a couple cool hot-rods to check out while youre there! Thanks again John, Id definitely recommend Tualatin Transmission to everyone!

So finding someone to trust was not easy for me...It was a true pleasure working with John of Tualatin Transmission, he and his crew fixed the transmission on my 2003 Sentra for less than I had thought I would be paying. I had my transmission rebuilt by these guys and soon after having it done it started having issues again . As a direct result of their work I have also had other mechanical issues with my car that I decided to take to other shops to be fixed. My car does not have the easiest transmission to work on but if you say that you can do it then you should be able to do it correctly.

I have used John (owner) for years now and he has always stood by his work. I recently had some the issues that alot of the bad reviewers have stated on here but that is NOT how John works and if he had known what his then manager and employees were doing then he would have not allowed it to happen. He recently went through and made sweeping changes to his staff and even listened to me when I explained to him what his manager was doing to customers and he was actually appalled at the treatment. John is basically running things now and I know firsthand what a great guy he is and how well he stands behind his work. I will not use anyone else but Tualatin Transmission and the Mechanic next door (Advanced Auto Systems). My sincere hope is that all the people that had issues please go and talk to John and he will do what he can to make it right. On a plus note I have never had a transmission fail after being fixed here and there is a 3 year/36k mike warranty on all transmissions that they repai . Prices are extremely reasonable also. Thank you John for always being a great guy and I wish you many more successful years!

BEWARE! You may want to call around to a couple different shops before settling on Tualatin Transmission. They overcharge, want to replace things that are not needed and do not respect your car or personal possessions. When my throw-out bearing failed damaging my transmission and clutch/flywheel I took my car there because of the good reviews. They quoted me $4485 for the repair. $1665 - clutch/flywheel, $120 - front axle, $500 - hydraulic clutch kit, $1400 - transmission (used/rebuilt, unknown), $800 - labor. I did not have that kind of cash so I was going to garage it until I could save enough. A friend said the pricing sounded off and advised I take it to another shop. Surgeline quoted me no more than $2500. They found a transmission repair kit, I didnt need the hydraulic kit, the clutch/flywheel was ~$750 and the axle was $79. They also fixed a leak in my power steering, replaced my ball joint (damaged by Tualatin Transmission) and gave me an oil change. The total bill was less than $2200!! I will be taking all of my repairs to Surgeline going forward, they were awesome! On a side note, when Tualatin Transmission packed the parts into the back of my car, they said they would use cardboard to protect my car. Instead they used my dogs blanket and our nice beach towels! After four washes I finally gave up and threw all of them away and I still cannot get the smell out of my car!! EXTREMELY upset over this.

Had a great experience with these guys. One day the tranny in my truck gave up. I was able to get it home and I called a few guys. TTC stood out from the begining because of the friendly voice on the phone. They offered to tow the truck from my house, free of charge to rebuild the transmission. The price I received was fair and only a 4 day turnaround on a complete rebuild and retrofit (HD tow kit, billet converter, etc.). And a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty was included.Shaft to say Im very pleased by their work, and will definitely come back if another vehicle gives me issues. Finally ive found a good, fair, and reliable shop to take my stuff to.

I just moved here from Alaska and my Transmission went out on my Honda Accord 2002. I took it to Sam at Tualatin transmission. I choose him due to him being so helpful and nice on the phone. He stated he could rebuild my transmission for $1800 to $2400 with a 3 yr or 36000 mile warrenty. Most other places didnt give me that long of warrenty or price. I took my car to Sam and it was suppose to be a 3 to 5 day job. But Sam called me on the following Monday and said they were having problems getting the bolts off. Due to salt being put on Alaskas roads in winter it cemented the bolts on and they were having to soak it in solution to loosen the bolts. He also said it will be $1800.00 job. I didnt mind waiting esp since it was going to be the cheaper end. I received a call from Sam the end of week and he said they got my car going but he didnt feel comfortable with the way the transmission was working and he wouldnt feel comfortable letting me drive it the way it was. So Sam took it all apart again and fixed it they way he thought it should be running. I went to pick up my car thinking it would be a little more $ but Sam still charged me the $1800.00. I had my own mechanic in Alaska for 20 years and was worried about finding trusting people but Sam at Tualatin put my mind at ease.My transmission is running great so far and I highly recommened Tualatin Transmission to anyone. Thanks to You Sam and your team.

As a salesperson selling advertising for 24 years I called on every transmission shop in the Portland Tri county area. Tualatin Transmission and John were by far the cleanest and most honest and provide the best customer service of all of them. I could choose any shop to have my work done and I selected them on 3 separate occasions and have been very happy each time. The last time they went beyond what any regular shop would do. In 90 degree temperature they jumped under my RV, tested and located my problem. They removed the part which was rusted in from 18 years of road grime, (took an hour) got a part from Napa, installed it and sent me down the road which saved a family camping trip which had been planned for a year. No other shop would have gone the extra distance to provide this type of service. You can also tell of their experience by all the top end race and show cars that they work on. If the pros come here, so should you.
