This guy was the best staff in this Coffee shop. He was very energetic and he helps me to find the best spot for me. All of my inquiries were addressed on time as expected. Every time I called for assistance, he was always there. A great music selection and delicious desserts were served as well. Incomparable coffee shop.
Good tasting and well priced coffee. Service was slow but it seemed like they were quite understaffed and I ordered something which takes a while.Egg a cheese tasted good.
Good quality rowandan coffee. Open till 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and closed weekends.
This coffee shop is perfect for studying and chilling out. It was very quiet and air-conditioned. I just want to keep coming back to this place. Thank you! This place is amazing! They delivered the best coffee and showed the best attitude to its costumers. Internet connection is very fast and is unlimited as well.
Nice open seating area if you want to sit and read or work. The coffee is excellent and there are a lot of menu options.
Was my first time here and I am so glad I popped in for a much-anticipated coffee. The barista was very knowledgeable, helping me pick out the perfect beans and drinks. Treated all customers with dignity and respect. Good vibes here, please support them through COVID if you can!
Amazing coffee! Great vibe too
Employee was very rude when I asked about a drink.
This place is really creative. They have a lot of options, they know what flavors go together well, and their food is just very good!! They even have pour over coffee (something that is highly uncommon, but very good). On top of all of this, the prices are very affordable. Especially for DC.
Great variety of coffee. Lovely people.
Very cozy spot! I go here often. The coffee is very well brewed and tasty, theres a good selection of teas, the service is prompt, and it is very clean. The price is a bit high for fresh beans, but they at least give you a free cup of coffee when you buy a pound. It would be a nice spot to host a live unplgged music show, in my opinion.
I got a marshmallow something latte because i was suspect of their coffee quality. it was creamy and tasted totally fine.the problem was with the pour over which was made by pouring water into a cup and then pouring that cup into some grounds. coffee was not hot, presumably because materials used.there are lots of coffee options in the area, if you want a true cup, i think youd be better elsewhere
Pretty good coffee and food but its absurdly expensive. They will even charge you a full $1 extra for just having a splash of oat/almond/soy milk in your coffee. Even Starbucks doesnt charge extra for that. The coffee isnt THAT good to justify $4.50 for a small coffee with something other than dairy as a creamer. Im just going to Starbucks from now on
Eh... I work from coffee shops pretty regularly. At a basic level I need 3 things: Good environment; good food/drink items; good service. The chai I ordered was fine (all places use the same pre-ordered concentrate, so with this in mind I use the environment and service to determine whether I like it or not). That said, for some reason the AC was blasting (it was a 70-degree day) and the barista/receptionist seemed pained to acknowledge me, like I was interrupting her day. Since there are so many places in the area, incl a Sbux a block away, I’d probably opt for a place that’s a bit more comfortable.
My best friend is a big fan of coffee frappes. That’s why she’s exhilarated when I introduced her to this coffee shop. She was fascinated by the variety of frappes that she hasnt tasted before. They were all great. Plus, the service crew are all accommodating and lively. We found our new favorite spot from then on.
Strongly recommend. Dropped by for a cup of tea. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good food offerings. Good wifi (was abie to stream a UK election debate). Some seats with power sockets. Reasonable toilets.
Was nice. Bustling, not too quiet. Quite a few people were there working and socializing on a Monday morning. This is a good, anti-corporate coffeeshop option for the neighborhood.
This is a great place that is open early for coffee and tea. I had a very solid cold brew coffee here, and my wife got a tea. I also treated myself to a banana bread (as you can see), which was also good. I imagine it would have been even better if I asked them to toast it. This place is a must stop if youre in the area and need a little energy boost. Great people watching spot too!
Still, you come here for the coffee and Bourbon does not disappoint. The seemingly freshly roasted beans exude flavor into each beverage and the lattes/crafted beverages are flavorful without being overly sweet.Things I tried & liked:Macadamia Nut Mocha - Interesting flavors all around and a very well balanced drink.Chi Latte - The chi flavor didnt taste as authentic as it should have in my opinion; it was overshadowed by the sweetness and milk. Still, it was an enjoyable drink.
First time. Ill likely return whenever I visit DC.Great selection of African coffees. Ordered a egg, bacon, cheese panini and it was delicious. Thick peppered bacon! Cashier was attentive but not exactly warm and fuzzy.Ambiance was very relaxing. Very professional looking clientele and some college students.Good eye candy, too!
Nothing but good coffee from these guys. I especially love how they take their time to make sure your coffee is exactly how you’ve ordered it. Best place in the whole block. I also like how they have ample parking for all vehicles.
In a neighborhood full of large corporation-owned chains, Bourbon sticks out as the best coffee shop in the West End-K Street neighborhood. Their coffee is in fact amazing, and their drinks are properly made. Theres always good music and good vibe and good service. Be warned however, that since they actually make their drinks properly, it takes longer than your standard Starbucks latte, so dont huff and puff about having to wait an extra four minutes.Genuinely, amazing coffee.
Very chill vibe. I can sit there for hours! They have amazing Rwandan coffee, try honey cayenne latte and get some espresso grounds for later too:)
Excellent coffee but rather poor selection of snack options. If youre stopping by to grab a cup of coffee and go, the place is perfect. But its also rather nice on the inside and youd want to sit down and enjoy your coffee, but there isnt much to select out of, in terms of pastries.
I had the Bourbon Banana smoothie and it was fantastic. 1 star knocked off for paper straws. My straw collapsed where the lid closed around it 15 minutes into my drink and I had to get another straw
Great coffee! I mean GREAT coffee, try their flat white with 2 shots of expresso.
Lovely little coffee shop. The coffee is great. They have good sandwiches. Knowledgeable staff #coffee#cozy#friendly
I work around the block and trust only this place for my coffee. The iced coffee is delicious as well as their hot coffees. Great variety of breakfast foods in the AM, including pastries and hot sandwiches. Also have a huge lunch and smoothie menu. Decent prices and I love that much of their work goes towards supporting work in Rwanda (they have a coffee shop there too!).
Nice, quiet, traditional coffee shop similar to Central Perk on the TV show Friends. Seating options include couches, chairs, tables, etc. Only downside is that it was so busy that there was nowhere to sit inside. We went outside, but we had to wipe down the chairs/tables ourselves because they hadnt done so after the rain.
High quality coffee taste but the cappuccino lacks a bit of finesse. It was scorching hot hence the milk was burnt and not foamy enough.
Great coffee and breaky rolls, will be there more the morning wake up tomorrow
It was super darling and cute! They had really great Wifi which made it perfect for working remotely from which included video conferencing the last time I went. Their lemonade was refreshing, the chicken salad was lovely, and overall its a fantastic spot with great people working there.
Thank you very much for the service
Good lattes and service is pretty warm. Seating is very cozy and comfortable. A bit too crowded for my taste. I was there during lunch time. Bit far from Foggy Bottom metro and parking is limited even if free.
My favorite cafe in West End/Foggy Bottom. Relaxing atmosphere, sidewalk seating for sunny days, friendly baristas, quick and efficient service, and they make a well-balanced Americano.
Rich coffee and fresh, fluffy pastries. First time I went though the cashier had me repeat the order three times and then he still shorted me a pastry. The next time I went and ordered an oatmeal which had way too much water....the oatmeal was literally under water and even after I waited for it to soak in the excess amount it never soaked up making for a very soggy oatmeal.
Took the advice of the friendly barista and tried something different and delicious. Clean, friendly place, great cup of coffee and surprisingly good breakfast sandwich.
Really awesome vibes but the organization is pretty poor. They dont take names or initials for food orders causing confusion about what food belongs to who. Its not until after you order a sandwich that they tell you its going to be 15 minutes. Not a huge deal, but when youre trying to avoid a Peets or Starbucks and still look for quick service it can be a small turn off. My Bourbon Builder smoothie was delicious!
Really Great Coffee. Its hard to find a good coffee shop. I was here visting from NY, and the coffee here was better then anything Ive found locally. Their cappucinos are perfect. Will visit again next time im in Dc.
Amazing environment, great music, delicious food, super friendly people. I cant think of a single thing i dont like about this place, best coffee shop ive ever been too.
Hip coffee spot with great beverages. Always had good service even when busy. Better than Starbucks hands down
Great seating options - there are couches and armchairs in addition to bar stools and regular tables, and its rarely so crowded you cant find a place to sit. The coffee is fantastic and the staff is always friendly. This is one of my favorite places to just bring a book and chill out. My only gripe is the hours - it closes at 5 on weekdays and is closed on sundays and federal holidays - but I get why they do that.
Everyone is sweet and accommodating.I love coming here on my work days.
Tried the blueberry basil scone with my tea. it was literally perfect. Im not joking. I could die eating those scones. holy frick.
Hands down the most authentic quality coffee that is rare to find even in the tastiest indie coffee shops. I recommend the oat milk latte and raspberry almond scone!!!
Fantastic. Great coffee. The staff was professional. Not terribly welcoming...but I am not a local. Probably different if they know you better. Id go back.
The staff here is very friendly and they offer a good amount of food items - including vegan options! While the space is great (along with the coffee) its often difficult to find seating and they close early so make sure to check their hours before you go!
Seasonal latte is lavender - one of my faves (get it iced, I learned from a chef once that heat changes flavor profile of lavender a good bit). Spinach feta scone is fantastic. Decor is fun and comfortable.
Great coffee shop. I always get the cortado and it is consistently tasty.
Fell into this place while walking to the metro one day, and its a great alternative to all the chain coffee places in DC. They do only Rwandan coffee and it is so, so yummy.
There is an Afro-centric feel. Very simple place that welcomes folks to taste the nectar of the motherland. Check it out! #letsguide
Great place for good coffee. I had a cappuccino, a Earl grey latte and a chocolate chip cookie. I would definitely return here.
Great coffee! Fast and friendly staff.
Excellent friendly service..I would walk a mile or two for a cup of their coffee!
The service is friendly and the paninis are delicious. More importantly, regarding the coffee-- its been consistently good. My first coffee here was just plain awful, but since then its been spot on. So, Im inclined to believe that first one was an outlier.. Definitely worth stopping by this place!
Coffee is pretty good, however their sandwiches are terrible and overpriced. They could have a 10 year old making their desserts and they would be much better. There is no competition around there probably that us why mist things are lousy.
Inexpensive coffee. Very cute place for meetings and social gatherings but closes very early compared to competing coffee shops
What a great coffee shop. Super place to hang with friends and delicious selection of coffee!
Great coffee. Lots of light roasts. All sourced from Rwanda. Sometimes has a line, but lots of love put into every drop.
Delicious coffee space and lots of smoothie, tea, coffee and baked goods options. This place does tend to get a bit crowded at all times which can only mean that they have good stuff!
Great African coffee. Lots of really good, unique flavors.
Selection of coffee beans and brewing styles is nice. Also appreciate the whole beans for sale, good for home brewing. Good selection.
Its a coffee shop. Prices are ok. Comfy furniture and doesnt feel overly cramped as some coffee shops do.For how much they seem to want to play up the whole African aesthetic and influence, I dont really feel like it works--a few accent pieces here and there and some claims of selling Rwandan coffee dont really sell the whole deal. Also why the hell is the name Bourbon Coffee if theyre going for African influence?
I really love this place. Their staff is friendly, its comfy, its pretty roomy, and there arent many other independent coffee places in the area.BUT... like some have said, their espresso is pretty bad. It tastes kinda burnt, acidic, and strange. Somewhere like Peregrine just blows them out of the water. Its still my go-to, but i think they should consider a switch-up in their espresso game.
Terrible service. They were extremely rude there was a long wait for my coffee. Took a long time to order to start with. Had to wait about 10 minutes before the employee would take my order. She just stood there eating. No one else in line. After ordering and waiting for 20 minutes for my coffee, I asked the employee if it would be ready soon. She replied with an attitude and said I shouldve ordered something different. Wasnt worth it. Its DC, and there are much better coffee shops around. Wont be back here.
One of my favorite coffee shops in DC because of the people behind the counter.
Diverse menu of quality drinks. Wifi and wall outlets. A variety of table, bar, and couch seating options make this spacious cafe a great place for work or meet-ups.
I had higher expectations for this place solely based on the cool name but after trying it out I was disappointed. When i ordered an amaretto latte it was very watery and had a chemical taste to it, not good. I also ordered a ham egg and cheese that was disappointing as well, the egg was not fresh it was a patty-like thing and the ham was COLD in the middle. I regretted not going to Bruggers next door and just getting a bagel.
My favorite place to come work in the afternoon. Great atmosphere and coffee. And the music is always great.
Favorite coffee shop in DC! Best tea selection (tiesta teas) and the coffee is really delicious. Also, great place to sit and get work done. Wish it were open a little later, though.
Great coffee, good ambiance and lots of places to charge your phone.
I got a pour over coffee, and for the price I was expecting a nice smooth cup of high quality coffee. It was not appreciably different from anything I can get at Starbucks, which is kind of my low cut off for coffee. Fortunately I cant comment on the food, but the interior was nice and the staff were really friendly.
A lackluster coffee shop on L street. Apparently its a chain. Dont come here for food, but the atmosphere is good for a little networking interview or a sit-down with a coworker.
Rich coffee, tasty treats. Good non-Starbucks option in that area.
Starbucks-esque atmosphere but still a little more character. Hot coffee is great and the kind bar selection vast. Bananas and apples were a bit overripe but overall, great spot.
Charming environment, great staff and a celebration of the coffees of Rwanda
Comfy scene. Tasty coffee and smoothie drinks. Helps Rwanda!
Excellent coffee in a small intimate space that feels like youre in the heart of Africa. Great place to go relax with a cup of coffee and your laptop
Bourbon Coffee locations around a DMV are a good place to get some coffee and small bites. This is among my go to places to get some coffee when I am at work. The baristas here generally make perfect drinks and the coffee beans are a good purchase too.Seating is generally all taken but this place is worth the stop!
The underpinnings of their business attracted my attention - crop to cup, sustainable practices, fair trade. We walked in and found a small but busy cafe, with friendly, though ever-so-slightly frazzled baristas. We had a group of 7, so we knew to practice patience. We looked over the menus, ordered our drinks and food, and waited grabbed a table. The fact that we were able to grab a table in the morning on a weekend was nice. The coffee came out first, and that was the first disappointment. I always order a cappuccino with nothing added. The drink itself tasted great. But it was lukewarm. For those of us who are die hard coffee drinkers, we like it HOT. This was about the temperature of most coffees after about 30 minutes if its lasted that long. I asked the others as they started getting their drinks, and they all said theirs was the same. I wanted to send mine back, but the line of people kept continuing to get longer, and the energy behind the bar was getting frenetic. The food came out in multiple batches, which we expected. All was tasty. I had the oatmeal while others got the bacon, egg & cheese or sausage sandwiches. Everybody enjoyed what they got. However, we had to remind them several times about food wed ordered as well as one drink. They kept thinking our order was complete when it wasnt. There seemed to be no clear method of tracking what was completed and what still needed to be done, and most of us were completely finished by the time our last person got his food.
Coffee was great, wish the lady had asked if I wanted the coffee in a glass cup, not a disposable one. Since I was sitting down at the coffee shop.
Great coffee. Good place to study, work, chat, or just grab a cup of black bliss.
Bourbon coffee is a bit pricier than Starbucks but is far better in taste and quality. Good service and nice ambiance.
Drip iced coffee and bourbon milk were on point for a hot day. We took both straws at the same time and life was good.
Live the atmosphere at this coffee shop! But often they get my order incorrect! Maybe its too loud, maybe they should repeat the order back.
Cool atmosphere, good food... low on outlet accessibility for work when the place is busy
I really like the atmosphere of this place. It has a small-town, independent coffee shop feel that I really dig. Make sure you ask them for the Wi-Fi password because it will make you giggle. The coffee is a little pricey, but it is downtown DC after all.
Delicious coffee and great place to stop and study if you manage to find a spot on their couches
