I have an older vehicle that needed a catalytic converter. Simba was able to get what I needed and my vehicle is ready to go again. I have had work done at Merlin before. The work is always great. Not only were they fast and efficient, but gave me advice for my next oil change for a flush which I needed. They did the 1st flush for me at a reduced price without me asking. Solid staff and 10/10 will go there for future mechanic work.

I went in today for an alignment. Waited about an hour and a half for them to tell me they couldn’t do the alignment because my tie rods needed to be changed( only on the front right side). Charge was $380 I agreed because I don’t know anything about cars and I was like well if I needed it then so be it. 3 hours later they call me and tell me they still couldn’t do the alignment because something else is wrong with the car but they don’t know what it is . “‘Maybe the steering wheel knuckle but I suggest you take it to an auto shop and have it checked there”. So basically I payed $300 for something I didn’t even NEED. Ps i had my control arms changed by my mechanic and he suggested I do the alignment. Tie rods were 150 and “labor” was $165. I come home to my dad furious because they SCAMMED me for something that would’ve been half the price or less. And I didn’t get an alignment, they had no idea what was wrong with my car. $300 was a pricey lesson learned.

DO NOT go to this place. They will rip you off. I stopped by this Merlin to change battery couple of weeks ago. The service rep told me that I had to purchase the most expensive battery, a Optima battery ($249), because this is the only type of battery that fits my 2012 Honda Odyssey. The owner of the place was standing right next to the service rep, the con artist. Both of them are con artists. Unfortunately, I believed this con artist and spent $300 to change a battery. After wards I found out that I could have just spent $150, half of the amount I paid, to change battery in other places. Also, the service rep tried to con me into buy a set of new tires and they said Merlin will replace all tires as long as I owned the car. However, they did bother to tell me they are charging $80 for the service and there are limitations to the service as well. What a horrible, horrible place!!!

I went to this Merlins several times over the past 3 years for various exhaust work on my familys vehicles and I considered them to be a good shop as the work was always done well, timely and at a fair price.Well, I went in recently to get my cats. checked and they turned out they were fine, but I was told Your back brake pads are gone Want us to throw some on for you real quick? I told them no as I have a mechanic that does brake work for me.Guess what, the pads have about 50% life left on them. Merlins was trying to sell me brake pads I didnt need. BUYER BEWARE!I called and informed the manager of the situation. He said, Oh that mechanic no longer works here, I never told him my name, what car, or who worked on it. He immediately said that mechanic is gone without even knowing who I was talking about. I think this says a lot about the ethics at Merlins in Glendale Heights.Josh

Simba and his team are fantastic. Theyve been working on my cars over 7 years now. You can trust them to get your car running safely and reliabliy for a very resonable cost. They can handle anything: brakes, oil changes, tires, shocks, repair work, anything..... Cant say enough good things about these guys. Great experience with this shop! Heather was extremely helpful when my rear passenger caliper locked up causing the brake pad to wear down much quicker than expected. Heather and her team were able to quickly diagnose the issue and provide a repair quote. The repair cost was reasonable and they finished the job within a few hours. Since they had to order parts, Heather was nice enough to drop me back off to work so I didnt have to wait. Great overall experience with this Merlin location!

Just happened to be down the road from them an hour from home when my check engine light went on and I started smelling burning from the engine. They got me back on track for a reasonable price and time and saved my day.

I have bringing my two cars there since 2010 and have yet to have a bad experience. I recommend these folks to all my friends and family also, and have not heard a bad story. Good prices and easy in and out.

Took my car in for a simple oil change and they didnt put enough oil in my car. They rest my lights and sent me on my way. I drive my car for 3 weeks with no oil and now my car is messed up and they want me to pay for a diagnostic test thats 85 dollars. So do not go here for work done. This isnt the first time I heard about them not putting oil in someones car. Remind you I only had my car for 3 months.

I called to schedule a quick oil change and they got me in and out in no time. I would highly recommend this Merlins to anybody. If you go on their website they always have coupons.

I’m thoroughly upset with this location because they lie to me because I’m a woman they’ve messed up two oil changes not putting in enough oil, told me they did my ball joints and control arms and charged me $400 just to tell me less than 3 months later i needed them again for the other side....and didn’t do that repair right left two screws loose that made my brand new struts start to come apart, had to pay a separate mechanic $75 just to screw bolts back in, they never once told me they were just doing one side of my control arm!!! Then told me my brakes were great when i can hear squeaking every time i hit them... told me my tire rods were bad as well when i just had new ones done two months ago!! Called to complain to corporate, waste of time. No one answers or calls back!! I’m pissed!

Mechanics break things while servicing your car, do shoddy repairs, and will NOT correct or honor their warranty for liability reasons. What looks good on paper will NOT be honored at all. Theyve lied to me on the phone and then given me completely different answers in person for a run around I had no time for. The receptionist will manipulate the set of circumstances to fit narratives that don’t exist. The owner has known my family and I for nearly 2 decades and now after doing business with them for 2 decades we do NOT trust them at all. Advise all those who get expensive or simple work to steer clear. Corporate does NOT answer phone calls or give any options to leave messages because voice mail is completely full or they possibly dont care from the looks of it. Company is no where near the standards it was when I first started going and I will gladly NOT return for further services. As the saying goes, nothing personal, just business.

Horrible work. Had to take my car back 3 times in 3 months for the same issue before it was fixed. And the third time they left a rag on the exhaust manifold, which of course caught on fire. Thanks to the quick response of the fire department, I still have my car.

I brought my 1993 BMW E34 wagon here to get a coolant flush an oil change and to get my wheels balanced. This work was done right around the beginning of winter. They were having a small sale on the coolant flush for 55$ I thought to myself what a great deal! Seeing as i would spend just about the same if I did the work myself plus my labor of course. I decided to go with them because of there reputable name, their sale and there located about 5 minutes from my work. Very convenient. I went and dropped of my car and went back to work. About 1.5 hours later i get a call that my car is overheating and they have no idea why! I immediately leave work to go look at my car. I walk in and start talking to the manager... she has no idea whats going on. I go and talk to the young gentleman that had performed the services on my car. He tells me step by step what he did for my coolant flush. He said i open the coolant cap and the drain plug, let all the coolant drain. Then i closed up the drain plug, filled the radiator with coolant and closed it up.... THAT IS NOT A COOLANT FLUSH! as soon as he told me what he did i knew why my car was over heating. When he opened my radiator cap and opened my drain plug he let air into my cooling system. than he put coolant into my radiator which clogged my radiator hoses with air. My car wasnt cooling down because my thermostat was stuck. There should be no air in your cooling systems! They had the audacity to try and charge me for the services they did. I refused to pay for the coolant flush but i did pay for the oil change they did.... Now i have to tow my car to my mechanic for him to tell me whats going on. On his inspection he confirmed everything that i was thinking. I ask him to please fix my car. He performs a real coolant flush and gets my thermostat to work again. It went from 55$ to 250$ to fix there mistake., a whole lot of grief and stress. thank you. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I will never go back to this unprofessional place. If you are like me and love your car, please dont go here. My mechanic said i was extremely lucky that i didnt crack my head gasket or crack my engine block.

The worst place for service and horrid customer service.Last year 2015 my friend was driving my 2005 Honda Ridgeline and it needed an oil change and brake job. He thought he was doing me a favor, but I always use J1 Auto Repair In Lombard. He took it to Merlin 200,000 @ 600 North Ave, Glendale Heights, IL 60139. They charged him over 750.00 for the brakes. In the past I never paid more then 400.00 with new rotors and pads. When they replaced the oil plug the stripped the threads and it leaked. I didnt notice for a few weeks since I drive my 2013 CR-Z as my daily driver. In that time the entire oil fill leaked out. When I called them they question why I waited and if I hadnt stripped it myself or someone else. I was pissed off. They also gave me times I had to bring it in and since I have a job I just gave up and took it to John at A1 and he fixed it my replacing the oil pan (where the plug is) gasket and replaced the oil.I could not find them on Yelp so I am leaving the review here

While most times Ive had adequate service at this Merlin location I had a really horrible experience. A few weeks ago I had them install new control arm bars and a new tireon on my car. While driving one of the bolts came off and ended up breaking the control arm making the axel pop out too. Being 9 months pregnant it could have been really really bad for the two of us. Luckily I was already in my mechanics driveway when it happened. The point is, while they hadnt messed up any of my pill changes, the first time I had them do actual mechanic work for me it was done so terribly that it was dangerous. I did get my money back but we wont be going to any Merlin stores again.
