I went back to the store earlier to return a bumper sticker. All 3 Employees present all had the same facial expressions: that of irritation and resentment, as if I didnt have the right to make a return as a customer. The one employee that was present who was wearing the glasses didnt even have to common courtesy to look me in the eyes when he made it aware that there was a 13% return fee. If you cant handle a customer returning a bumper sticker, how can you handle customers returning bigger and more expensive items? You are there to serve your customers as they are an asset to your business, not a burden!!!

I’ve purchased several firearms from Sporting Defense and recently used them for an FFL transfer. The staff is always courteous and helpful. The prices are fair and I haven’t had any issues with anything they’ve sold me.

Had planned on going to a few stores to price up the gun I wanted. My first stop of the day was here and it was also the last stop. The gentleman that welcomed me to the store helped me with all my questions and thoroughly explained the gun I was looking at and made sure I had everything I needed to clean it. All of the staff are very friendly and professional and everything in the store is fair priced. They just got a loyal customer out of me!

Went to the store a few months ago, bought 2 boxes of what I thought was federal .308 ammo. Never shot it and sold it with the gun to a friend. They went to shoot said ammunition and it fell apart in the chamber, bullet came out of the casing and dumped the powder all over. Happened with multiple rounds. Upon inspection of the cases and boxes the rounds were reloaded by someone and they wrote what they loaded with in pen on the back of the box. If I had known or been told they were reloads when purchasing fine but I was under the impression that it was factory loaded ammo and paid that premium. Bottom line check the ammo you buy from this place before leaving the store.

I have been to a lot of different gun stores but this is one of the best I have been too, the people who work here are friendly and actually seem to want to help you with whatever questions you have. They take good care to know every single thing that you may want to know. The selection of guns is very good and the ammo is also. They have a wide selection of different cleaners, reloading tools and consumables, bags and targets. The only reason this is not five stars is the fact that the location of this place is somewhat of a drive from where people would normally be coming from but it’s still not too bad.

Salesman was very rude and unprofessional. Simply told me he would not buy my gun if I was not buying any of his. Do not try to sell your guns here. Everything is overpriced and they are only after your money. Save your money and your time by avoiding this dump

Sporting Defense is a great place to do business with. I used them as my FFL on Gunbroker. The auction was for a new Glock 30. Today they called to inform me that my gun had arrived and was ready for pick up. I stopped in and they had a new Glock 30 in stock! Wasted 3 weeks waiting. And for the same price after shipping and the FFL fee. Lesson learned. Next time I will be checking Sporting Defense before I bid.

I went there today to ask about setting up a handgun transfer from my dad (who lives out of state) to me. The guy behind counter was adamant that a transfer was not needed if it was a gift. I explained several times that hes out of state. Everything Ive read says out of state handgun transfers definitely need an FFL. I didnt have time to argue this so I walked.Several years before this I went there to have a scope mounted. It was a moderately priced scope, and Id never had a scope on any gun of my guns, so I wanted it done right. Right after I got it mounted I went up the Grand River shooting range and I couldnt get it zeroed for the life of me. The range officer saw my frustration and came over to lend a hand. He immediately noticed the scratches on my scope tube where the scope was sliding in the rings - they werent tightened down enough. I cant remember what I paid for the scope mounting service - but it certainly wasnt worth it. Not to mention the $40 bucks in wasted ammo.As much as I like having a store nearby, I routinely find myself driving someplace else for guns and ammo.

Have gone there several times and gotten a gun and a couple magazines, the last time I was in another fellow customer said he was interested in a carry gun, so as a CCW holder I gave him a suggestion on a good firearm and the owner look to me and said, “Mind your own business. We don’t need your help here.”That’s the last time I will go to that store, they have lost me as a customer for life. There is no need for the blatant disrespect.

Moved to brimfield about 4 years ago and was excited there was a local gun store in my area. I’ve bought many guns from Larry as well as other members of my family. In recent months I’ve had multiple issues with double charging me for items go back to the store with no help ask to speak to Larry never calls me back or anything. I have been a customer there for several years. Larry and his staff are honest, knowledgeable and very friendly. Others have criticized their selection and it is true you can find stores with more guns in stock to look at. If you want selection get a catalogue.I go there because I know I can get honest expert advice on my guns. If you want something they do not have ask Larry and he will help you get it as I did with a Chiappa .357 revolver.I have purchased several personal defense weapons and cleaning supplies. In addition they were very helpful in assisting me with a sale of a Mauser rifle I no longer used. I cannot speak highly enough about this shop. It is a gem of a gun store.

If you know a lot about guns and ammo or very little Sporting Defense is the place to go. Their prices are very reasonable and the owners are very knowledgeable and the treat you with respect. They have a wide selection of guns and ammo and if they do not have it they will either find it for you or tell you where you can get what you are looking for. Larry and Chris are great people and they know that laws concerning conceal carry and open carry and which weapons perform the best under specific circumstances. I highly recommend them.

Good overall selection of items but prices were high for most all items. Easily find most items on shelves cheaper online and firearms less expensive at shops in the falls and at Fin Feather Fur.

I called some other shops around Akron and ended up buying a Ruger Mark iii 22/45 from Larry. He offered a fair price for a used gun and was a bit higher than Id like on ammo price but if he wasnt, he wouldnt have had any because people are stocking up. Ill buy another gun from him if he has what I want at a fair price. Very courteous and willing to answer questions. All and all a very good experience on a Saturday afternoon.God bless America.

Larry is an exceptionally knowledgeable owner and a great source of firearms industry news. His shop always has firearms in stock that are both high in quality and fairly priced, considering the fluctuations that the industry is currently in the middle of. Called ahead to sell them a firearm, the old guy with glasses that i spoke to stated a specific price range which was agreeable. as soon as i walk in and wait for them to take a look, the old guy (assuming the owner) fires off right away, I dont want it, i told you I didnt want it and you still brought it anyway! i had no clue what in the hell this guy was talking about so i go to show him and he yells get the hell outta here!. very terrible service. Im not sure if this guy is mentally stable enough to run a firearms store..

This store is one I would not do business with. First selling shoddy product, but also lying about product that was sold stating it was one thing and then come to find out is was something different of less quality. When we returned the defective product, store representative refused to take it back and return our money. The representative was also very rude and completely against working with us to resolve any issues with the merchandise purchased from this location.

If you enjoy getting ripped off this is the place for you, went in to trade my 450$ rifle and they offered me 200$ trade. Talked to Larry, seemed very unknowledgeable about guns. He typed my rifle into gunbroker and thats how he appraises guns. Would not recommend to anyone.
