In the 30+ years that I have worn hearing aids going to Applied Hearing Solutions was the best decision I have ever made. All though it is a 3 hour journey to their office in Phoenix, to see Cliff Olson, has been worth the time. I have a very unusual hearing loss that has caused me issues for years. Ive been to several doctors previously that sold me aids and sent me on my way. I became aware of Dr. Olson from his Video presentations on YouTube. I am 81 years old, and as a minister I have spent a lot of time with older people and have not know of many successful experiences with hearing aids. Dr. Olsons best practices in testing, installing, and fine tuning hearing aids really do work. The change for me really surprised me. I really didnt realize how much I was missing, (most good, and some not so good). I put them in every morning when I wake up, and I take them out before I go to bed or take a shower. I am generally not aware I have the in my ears unless the foolish mask strings catch one. I have been using them for close to 2 months, and I have NO COMPLAINTS. I have been hearing-challenged for several years. I used a hearing aid office in Tucson and received a set of hearing aids that were essentially earplugs. I was so very disappointed and frustrated. I am 54 years old and I have hearing loss from working around loud machinery most of my life. Like most people with hearing loss, I put off seeking help for a number of years. When I did start to consider hearing aids, I did some research online and there were so many misleading websites and false reviews paid for by some of the less reputable companies that I was becoming very skeptical. Thankfully I stumbled across Dr. Olsons YouTube channel. I watched a number of his videos and it quickly became evident to me that he was both highly knowledgeable and highly qualified. I came across Dr Olson through research and ultimately his Utube channel (which I would urge anyone to listen to. I had an in the ear hearing aid from Costco that was ready for replacement. Before seeing Dr. Cliff Olson I had been to several audiologists with minimal success. With the hearing aids I received from them I rarely wore them as I felt they didnt provide any improvement in my hearing. After the first visit with Dr. Olson and with him using best practices I immediately noticed the improvement in my hearing with the new hearing aids I received. I started to hear sounds that I hadnt heard in years. When leaving his office for the first time I could hear my car direction signal for the first time in a long while. Dr. Olson has provided the best medical care for my hearing problem that surpasses any that I have received in the entire medical field. I decided to see them for a CROS hearing aid system after getting a new CiC hearing aid last November that did little to nothing to help me hear on my left side. What a difference going to someone who has your best interest in hearing health rather than someone who just wants to sell you something. I get regular communication from Applied Hearing Solutions. Completely competent to the maximum extent! I was really pleased with the level of service and constant level of detail to which my hearing loss was compensated for (and is being adjusted) by the hearing aids that were recommended. I totally recommend Applied Hearing Solutions.

Dont waste your time and money buying just amplifiers or aids through the mail and hoping theyll work. Although using Applied Hearing is not the cheapest way to go, its the very best way of getting high quality aids and making sure they work at their maximum benefit. My previous Audiologist didnt spend half the time as Dr. Altus did with me, nor did they do all the critical testing required to fine-tune the aids, which has made all the difference. Everyone at this office is friendly and considerate, and Dr. Altus raises the bar on personal and professional service. I tried to tolerate my hearing loss for years (many years according to my wife) but it became intolerable with our need for masks. So impressed that it was worth the 300 mile drive from Las Vegas to his office for initial visit then two more times for followup. Now we do remote visits. Unbelievable. I have been hearing impaired for over 40 years. Throughout those years I have been seen by many audiologist and have bought hearing aides with different manufactures using their suggestions.Since I have been seeing Dr. Olson at Applied Hearing Solution I have been beyond impressed. He has been able to balance my equipment so hearing and speech clarity is always there. I don’t struggle trying to hear or join in conversation as in the past. In a nutshell, Dr. Cliff Olson changed my life for the better!I found Dr.Cliff via a web search for top rated audiologists in the Phoenix area and was thoroughly impressed by his reviews and watched many of his YouTube videos before deciding I needed to make an appointment with him. His practice is super busy and so it was a few weeks before they could get me in to see him. It was worth the wait! My first appointment and test was 90 minutes long and seriously the most comprehensive evaluation Ive ever had done on my hearing. Id never had any hearing professional spend so much time with me or perform a Real Ear Measurement test. He listened to my concerns and even tweaked the programming on the old set of hearing aids I came in wearing as they were not programmed correctly to my prescription at all. He did NOT try to sell me new hearing aids or anything, which was both shocking and refreshing. This appointment was literally just an evaluation and him taking the time to explain my hearing loss to me in detail and listen to my concerns. Dr. Olson was very upfront by telling me that if I wanted him to treat my hearing loss it was going to require a time commitment on my part as several appointments would be required to fine tune my hearing aids and the programming. I immediately said yes. His office is 70+ miles from home but after finding an audiologist as good as Dr.Olson, I didnt care, it was worth it! I decided to upgrade my hearing aids on my own, with no pressure from him whatsoever after some time under his care. He gave me several options to choose from that fit my needs and lifestyle best and did NOT push the most expensive models or those with features I didnt need or wouldnt use. The other hearing professionals I went to before Dr.Olson spent maybe 10 minutes on treatment and the rest of the appointment in salesman mode trying to close a sale.If youre looking for an ethical, professional and amazing audiologist who truly cares about his patients, Dr. Cliff Olson is your man. Im hearing better than I have in years thanks to him taking the time to get my prescription right. My quality of life has improved in more ways than I have time or room to mention as a result of being under his care. A few other things worth mentioning in this review are listed below. I drive from East Mesa to see Dr. Olson. Its worth the drive because Dr. Olson truly works to get you not a good fit but a great fit. Watch his YouTube videos and you see that he does his homework. Hes a one man shop but thats a benefit in getting personalized care. Ive been to three audiologists this year and wasnt happy until I found Dr. O.

Basically, its the only hearing aid near my home. Its a little strange with social distancing and masks, but doable . Good quality repairs at a reasonable price.

This review is based on the free and amazing help I received by watching Dr. Olson’s wonderful YouTube videos on real ear testing. After years of wearing hearing aids and never having a proper real ear measurement done on my aids to maximize audibility I got it done because of his good advice and explanation. Let me say right at start that Dr Cliff is a great audiologist and a great person who is really concerned about the hard of hearing community improving their life experience. I look forward to my appointments because its actually fun and enlightening, If you are anywhere near Phoenix make an appointment!I had Starkey aids for about 3 years and was never really pleased with my experience even after many adjustments. I had asked the audiologist about Real Ear Measurement and was told it was unnecessary because the computer software would make the best match, What did I know?I happened to see one of Dr Cliffs videos and proceeded to binge view the rest of them. Long story short, got an appointment and found out my aids, especially my left ear, was nowhere near matching my audiogram.I was fitted with Phonak Marvel 90s and couldnt be happier except for the infamous MyPhonak app. Great aids but crappy app. Dont let the app stop you from considering Phonak aids or any aids, make your way to Dr Cliffs office.

After an extensive search for help with my hearing difficulties, including seeing various Audiologists and Hearing Instrument Specialists, I have been completely satisfied with Dr Clifford Olson and his Associates at AHS. Do yourself a favor and see Dr. Olson! Besides being incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic, he truly cares about the results. Hes not just interested in whether you need hearing aids or not (after testing, he determined I did not, confirming hes not just trying to sell something), but more importantly, the concerns associated with not being able to hear the way youd like to. In our case, I dont think my husband realized how much he couldnt hear, and if youre not hearing everything, you may be missing very important tid bits of life. I went to see Dr. Cliff to see if he could help me manage my tinnitus I got after an ear infection. I had no hearing loss so he wasn’t able to help but after my visit and his hight tech hearing test I learned that my tinnitus wasn’t that high and bad. His office staff was great and even though I was a bit early they saw me fast. Dr. Cliff is very knowledgeable and respectful in what he does. He answered every question me and my husband had and never felt rushed.

After poor experiences with two previous audiologists, I set out on the internet to find someone who would provide better service. I stumbled upon the YouTube posts from Dr. Cliff. As impressive and informative as he is in those videos, he is even better in person. During my first visit, he took the time to thoroughly explain my hearing difficulties after conducting a battery of hearing tests. Unlike the previous two docs, he was spot on with his diagnosis and prescription. He fitted me with the devices I wanted and needed and tested me even further to ensure they worked in multiple environments. Thanx to Dr. Cliff, I went from not wearing my devices on occasion to wearing them 14 + hours a day. And while my previous doc was unable to find any devices that would be covered in full by my insurance, Dr. Cliff found and prescribed them with zero copays. Kudos to who I believe is the best audiologist in the country. Not just for his outstanding customer service and his informative videos, but for his superior effort to go the extra mile with his customers without breaking the bank. He is the gold standard by which other audiologists should be measured.

Dr. Olson is the only Audiologist that I have worked with who understands how to effectively use Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids and can customize smartphone apps which are supported by various hearing aid manufacturers. Cliff is an emphatic and supportive professional that has exceeded my expectations. His efficient use of web-supported scheduling and appointment-reminder applications ensure consistent contact and support. He is one of only a few medical professionals that I recommend to friends without hesitation.

I lost count how many videos of yours I have watched. The result is that I searched for a local doctor of audiology who has a real ear measurement device. That was the start. I am very impressed with my audiologist (in Provo UT). We had several discussions in which your name came up. And may I say that he also is impressed with your work. I tried out 3 different hearing aids over a period of 5 weeks. In the end I purchased the Widex Evoke. Its a different world with hearing aids. I wish I could say they are the perfect answer to my hearing loss issues, but alas, I have discovered that hearing aids in general are not perfect. I have a very good insurance benefit. Applied Hearing Solutions assured me on several occasions that they take my Aetna insurance.I booked an appointment and Olson charged me $102 for a hearing test and tech consultation. Only THEN did he tell me that I would have to pay them the $4,000 insurance benefit DIRECTLY FROM MY OWN POCKET and that they would NOT bill Aetna directly. So, in truth Applied Hearing would not use my insurance benefit.I called Aetna twice and discussed the billing procedure with them. Both times Aetna stated Applied Hearing could bill Aetna directly if they wanted to. During the second conversation with Aetna (which was recorded and Applied Hearing was part of the 3-way conversation) the Aetna representative told Olson’s assistant that she could bill Aetna directly if she wanted to. She declined to do so.While Olson seems to be competent in his field his “bait and switch” tactics are dirty.regarding your reply:Prior to our appointment, I was told by your assistant that I would have to pay for the hearing test and tech consultation. I accepted that and made the appointment. Only AFTER the tech consultation (which I think you did well) did you tell me I would have to pay the $4,000 Aetna benefit with my own money. On several previous occasions I had explained to your assistant that I have a $4,000 insurance benefit and that I am interested in obtaining a new pair of hearing aids from you and your business.Here are the facts:--Your exact business address is listed as In-Network on Aetnas website. The name associated with that business is Arizona HearCare Network.--Applied Hearing Solutions address is listed on Arizona HearCare Networks website as the same address on Aetnas In-Network providers referred to above.--I had another conversation with Aetna today wherein they told me that while you may be contracted with Amplifon you are NOT Aetna In-Network.(The above facts mislead patients in my view)--The Aetna representative said audiologists are not forced to contract with Amplifon and that billing Aetna directly is within you discretion.--At one point I talked with your assistant and told her that Aetna would allow you to bill them directly. She said she would ask you if you wanted to do it that way.

The staff was courteous, the clinic spotless, and Dr. Olson was even more enthusiastic than on Youtube.I gave him my full trust and freedom to address my hearing loss with the best available treatment option for my specific hearing loss. He recommended a top brand hearing aid with extensive programing options to address my asymmetric hearing loss. He maticulasly tuned and tweeked my hearing aids during 3 sessions, each 2 weeks apart until I reached my prescription, explaining the process at every step of the treatment.I went from guessing words to hearing the turn signal in my car, the belt buckle scraping across my shirt, the beeping sound the copy machine makes across the office when low on paper, and even my ankle pop. I was missing a lot of sounds. The worse part is I had no idea.
