I had the good fortune to find Walcott open at a very late moment in the day. My glasses had fractured the day before and It was critical that I have a frame replace the one that had broken.Again I had the good fortunate to have one of the owners help me with this situation. She and the rest of the staff were extremely professional. Their work is excellent. And their concern for customers receiving value is clearly apparent . As a physician I clearly understand the need for the client to receive the best Available care, and Wolcott in my opinion excels in the Quality service they provide.

My first experience at Wolcott optical was to pick out my first pair of reading glasses. Something I was not looking forward to, partly because I really struggle with choosing the right frame that fits my small face and looks good. I also need something really light in weight because I get headaches easily.Steve helped me and was amazing! After having me try on one pair to see how they fit he then picked 20-30 frames from the store and had me sit down and try them all on until I found the perfect pair that looked good and felt good. He knew exactly what would work and look good but not be too heavy for me. Had I gone somewhere else or tried to find the perfect pair on my own I would have either given up or settled on something I didn’t really love. Steve’s expertise, patience, and understanding were just what I needed to make an otherwise frustrating process so very easy. I will always go back to Wolcott’s and would recommend them to anyone in need of glasses.

Wolcott Optical knows what they are doing. We have been coming here for years (including the amazing Memorial Day sunglasses sale!) and love the customer service and professionalism they provide. A few years ago we were downtown and, in the interest of time and by sheer coercion since we were near a sub par and inexpensive glasses place, I convinced my husband to stop by. After spending a couple hours, my husband purchased a pair and we left. A couple weeks later when they came in he brought the glasses home and to say they were less than ideal would be an understatement. For weeks he tried to adjust them to no avail. We decided to go by Wolcott and realized that the pair we had purchased were never going to be usable since his prescription is so strong. They put him in a new pair and he has been happy ever since. When he needs adjustments for a new prescription, they are always amazing and quick to accomplish those. I too have been incredibly happy with the pair of glasses that I have and even with Covid, they got my pair in record time and adjusted perfectly. If you want glasses that you can wear for years and years, the reliability of quality workmanship And customer service that is top notch, you’ll find it at Walcott. We will never step foot anywhere but here.

I have only ever reviewed a couple places. These places are either overwhelmingly terrible or just an exceptionally positive experience. This a review of a latter such establishment. I called in to this place 30 minutes before them closing to aid me in eyeglass repair. They told me to come on down and I did. Larry took extra time including time spent after closing making sure I walked away with my problems solved. I had pair of lenses that delaminated which created a significant problem with clear vision. I wasnt sure what it was, but after speaking with Janet, she told me the problem and also told me it should be covered under warranty (which it was). How awesome is that?! The glasses were almost 5 years old and have through all kinds of stress where I thought I broke them. Thats another huge benefit of buying locally; a quality product that lasts. This experience shows why: Four years ago they told me the frames I’ve used for many years were no longer being manufactured, but they had one more sample in my size and color. The customer service is unmatched. Larry spent over an hour a half with me picking out frames. He was very knowledgable, patient, and one of the best at what he does. Great selection of glasses! More importantly, is the quality of their staff. I had problems with my prescription from the Doctors office, they caught it without making the lenses for the glasses and having an extended wait time... I have a difficult prescription they were extremely knowledgeable in ensuring the selection of proper lenses and great looking frames. You’re in very good hands with Wolcott’s Optical. Not only do they have my favorite selection of glasses and talented people that help you find the ones that look good on you, they are HONEST. A few days ago, I lost my wedding ring, which I had put in my pocket to wash dishes. When I called to see if I had by chance lost it in their store, they told me that one of their customers had found it in the parking lot. Wolcott had it there for me at the front counter. I have been going to Wolcott for years. I bought my first pair about 20 years ago. Sadly three times I picked the wrong place to buy my glasses from. It seems the other places are just interested in selling and not your comfort when you are done. The advice I have been given at Wolcott is spot on. When I was a young teenager, my father, an ophthalmologist in Salt Lake, examined my eyes. He told me that I needed glasses and that I should go to Wolcott Optical. For some reason, I felt like I needed another option so I said, “Where else can I go?” He said, “There is not a good second choice, just go to Wolcott.” I pushed further saying, “There must be another option,” but he said, “If you want good glasses, go to Wolcott Optical, and nowhere else!”It was unusual for him to be so adamant, so I did what he said. Walcott is always awesome! We have been getting my sons glasses there for 6 years! Kids can be hard on glasses and Walcott has always been great about replacing lenses and frames under warranty. Being able to fit a 4 year old and an 11 year and old all the years in between has kept us as loyal costumers.

My son broke his prescription safety glasses on the first day of work. We made it to Wolcott as they were locking the door. They still let us in and fixed his glasses while we waited. Dr. Boyer was also the first person to figure out my daughter has one near sighted eye and one far sighted (without having that done by lasik). Wolcott also created a special prescription pair for me to make crafting easier. They arent on my employers vision plan but their regular prices are equivalent to the discounted insurance prices. So I dont pay vision premiums and get my services from Wolcott and still end out $$ ahead.

Ive been going to Wolcott Optical for many years and theres a reason for that. The customer service is superb! My son-in-law is an ophthalmologist in another state and he could get me discounted frames but the attention I get at Wolcott is worth every penny. I dont want to choose my glasses on an internet site either. Who would adjust my glasses and give me a nifty little glass cleaning cloth whenever I need help like Wolcott? That attention to details can only come from a brick and mortar store. Wolcott also has the best selection of frames in the city!

Wolcott Optical is an impressive business staffed by even more impressive employees. I am an older customer who no longer breaks my glasses and my prescription no longer changes very often like when I was younger. As a result I am rarely in need of new frames or lenses but it seems like several times a year the little screws and various small partsfrom my glasses disappear with alarming regularity causing me to visitWalcott Optical for annoying little repairs. The folks at Wolcott Opticalare always ready to remedy my problem in a timely and very professional manner. They always have the parts and the time to treat me like I am their most important customer of the day. The majority of the time they dont even charge me a dime. They act like they are just happy to help me and really want me as a customer. With the online, never talk to anyone atmosphere of shopping these days it is really nice to realize that the customer still matters. You cant go wrong checking them out!

I went to Wolcotts with my partner so I could drive him home after getting his eyes dilated. I was completely stunned over how rude the entire staff was to my partner. I’ve never seen people be so rude in a customer service setting. The person in charge berated my partner on the main floor surrounded by other customers and employees when he asked a question about the cost of the exam. It was more than they quoted to him on the phone, and he wanted to know why, and she lost it when he asked. He wasn’t trying to get them to charge him less, he just wanted to know why the cost went up, and she treated him like he was demanding it be less.Another employee was incredibly rude when my partner said that he was going to order his glasses online. My partner doesn’t have vision insurance, so putting up a few hundred dollars for new glasses from them isn’t really feasible. We unfortunately live in a world where not everybody can buy the highest end glasses at the drop of a hat, and they seem to have no respect for that.The building is also horrifically tacky and not in a good way.

Its always nice to be greeted when entering a store. Just to be acknowledged. Well be right with you?? Nope, nothing. I was looking around, and no one asked if I needed any help. Two customers came in after I did, and were helped by the staff right away. They were probably returning customers. In my line of work, we greet our new customers within 10 FT or 5 seconds, and we make them feel welcome. After being ignored, I left, and I will not come back. I deserve better customer service!

Been using this optical for about 10 years. I don’t think there’s a shop in Utah that compares with it’s huge frame selection and lens warranty.Dr Boyer, their optometrist, correctly diagnosed the cause of my dry eyes that 2 other optometrists missed. My contact lense wearing daughter only trusts Dr Boyer’s exam and Rx over the “cheaper box stores” that left her squinting and uncomfortable throughout the day. They also did an amazing job on her frame selection and lenses due to her high Rx, leaving the lenses barely visible past the frame thickness (important to any fashion conscious young lady !)Even though I live in the east coast, I still make it a point to come here when I visit family in Utah.Are there “cheaper” shops around ? Yep.But for frame selection, eye exam, service and care, Wolcott are my opticians.

They have a huge range of frames and styles - I highly doubt you wont find something you like (and I am certain they can order just about anything in for you).Even if I move out of state Im certain that Ill try and stay loyal one way or another - they truly are a local treasure.

The staff is very helpful, and can always find just the right pair of frames, and their lens quality is unsurpassed. Easily the best glasses place in Salt Lake.

When my wife and son decided to go there - WHEW.=> QualityMy prescription is complex and I need them done exactly right:+ built-in prism+ progressive (no-line bifocals)+ transitions (auto-dark)+ various other scratch/uv coatings, etc.The quality is exceptional. Given the price, I dont hesitate to use their post-purchase benefit when I need it. I have free replacement for lenses that get scratched. Although the scratch coating is great, I have had them occasionally replace lenses that slip off onto concrete when I am working on my truck.In addition, for the first six months if the doc changes my Rx I get one-time free replacement lenses.Last week I accidentally stepped on them outside... That was bad. I am taking them in today for repair. I suspect I will need a new frame, but the lenses should be covered if scratched.=> OverallFor myself I wouldnt go anywhere else. If my lenses were simple, maybe - but they are not. The glasses are critical to my computer software app admin job. I can barely afford the glasses but I absolutely cannot afford the risk of going to a mass product franchise that focuses more on quantity and may have employees with less technical experience.

They have a pretty good selection here, but Customer Support was almost non-existent. After putting my name on the list and waiting for 20 minutes, I left as most of the sun glasses were under lock and key and I couldnt try much on while waiting. Agree with previous poster, this place seems super snobby and I wont be back

My wife and I came in to look at sun glasses and apparently we didnt look rich enough to even be helped. They didnt even let us really look at glasses. We had money to purchase two glasses and no help after 27 mins we left. Ridiculous. Next time I better rent a Ferrari so they will help us.

After years of issues with quality and unmet expectations, our family finally left them for a lower priced competitor that turned out to have better quality and customer service. Wolcott was one of the best a long time ago, but unfortunately now I cannot recommend them.

Ive purchased my glasses here for 16 years, the service is impeccable, quality and selection of frames and lense options is most wonderful as well. Theyre always a pleasure to work with and Id highly recommend buying any eyewear you need from Wolcott!

Top-quality frames (Im partial their Oakley line) and they also offer an assortment of accessories. In fact, I stopped in to buy some Chums just a few weeks ago. Ive never had any issues with any if the glasses their lab has made for me, either. The lenses fit in the frames just right, and theres never any of the bluriness in their work that you sometimes have to suffer through with eyewear made by other labs. Last, Walcotts staff is first-rate. Not only are they very helpful in finding frames that will work with your face and sense of style, but they also adjust your frames and clean the lenses when you arrive to pick them up.

Every experience I have had here has been absolutely amazing! I have been a long time customer for a reason, the best customer service in Utah for eyewear. Being someone who does not wear prescription eyeglasses or contacts I have found Wolcotts to have an ever expanding selection of non prescription eyewear. Their staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable whether you have a prescription or not.Regarding the previous reviews of a snobby establishment. I am covered in tattoos and have full sleeves. I have never not even one time felt talked down to or like I didnt belong there. Every interaction has been professional and friendly.If you are tired of the same old same old from the big box stores, give them a visit! You wont be disappointed!

Between sports and working with special needs kids my glasses have been broken five or six times in the past few years. When they break, I just take them in, and so far Wolcotts has fixed them for free every time and Ive only had to wait a few minutes.

A few years ago I bought a pair of 500.00 dollar glasses. The young man who was helping me complained how hard is was to replace the lenses. I thought, who does he think I am ...his mother. Worst customer service. Im never going back. I remember when they were located in the old Salt Lake Clinic.
