The cost of an oil change seemed fair as well as the cost of the original diagnostic, but everything else felt a little pricey.When they did the diagnostic on my car I was only offered the most expensive option of just replacing everything, at a cost of about $1750. They did not explain what was urgent, and what could just be monitored. I felt like Christian Brothers didnt give me agency, and purposefully kept car maintenance arcane and mysterious.When I took my car to another local garage, they found the same problems, but they just reattached the intake manifold valve that had come loose, gave me recommendations for how to monitor my vehicle, and said that if the valve came loose again, it would need to be replaced at that point. The other garage also noted the small leak in the A/C compressor, but suggested that rather than replacing the whole system, the leak was small enough that a yearly refrigerant recharge would probably be sufficient to keep me comfortable for a few more years, which is likely all the use Ill get out of that car anyway. I came out of that experience more knowledgeable and empowered to care for and make decisions about my vehicle, and only paying $220.

Earlier this year was my second time coming here, the first time was very expensive. Close to 2 grand. (That’s a lot for a single working parent) this second time, I had brought in my car to get ac repair, and a check engine light diagnosis repair. They quoted me a lot of money for a new compressor.but I really didn’t know any better and I was desperate. this time it cost me around 3 grand. The men in front seemed nice enough and were helpful! However, the time it took to get done was about 5 days THE FIRST TIME. I took my car home and realized the ac was still blowing hot air. The second time took about two days . It was stressing me out because the entire time I was having to Uber my child to school and myself to work and the dollars stacked up. I finally got my car, and they gave a “free oil change “ voucher for the inconvenience. Well, not even a week later the check engine light came back on along with the gas cap light which was never on before. The ac still does not blow as cold as before. And my car is now stalling out when I have the ac turned on, so I’ve been driving with it off during the summer and now. I never took it back right away because I couldn’t afford to be without my car any longer. And I wasn’t confident they would get it done. I just know I’m never going back there, because for the price the quality sucked. And I was left worse off than before. wanted to share my experience! UPDATE: I’ve added photos of the “sorry “ free oil change voucher which I have not used because I don’t trust them with my car anymore!

I’ve been a customer of this Christian Brothers location for about four years now. The folks here are friendly and very honest and upfront with pricing. I use them for inspections and regular maintenance. But when I had to get my A/C fixed, I knew I would get a fair price and an honest conversation about what was best for my family and my vehicle. Rolf, Phillip, and Paul are great people!If you have to spend money fixing your vehicle, the guys at this Austin Hwy location are great!

Courteous service - The courtesy shuttle back home and a pick/up and return to the service center was a must for me. The only disappointment was that service to replace an oil pressure sensor took two business days. Be sure to ask how long it will take to service your vehicle before you drop it off. They seem to be a very busy enterprise!

We checked on the repair pal app, the potential issues and possible repair costs. Thankfully, CBA completed the diagnosis and repairs of the power steering and AC at a significantly less cost than what the app estimated it could have been. In addition, they were fast.

Went in for a tuneup, flush, and rack&pinion replacement. They quickly put together my truck since there was a part on order, so that I could use it while we waited. Tech said it was out of alignment since they thought it was gonna stay on the lot. Lost a hubcap from the front passenger’s wheel the minute I drove off the lot. Looks like they moved a back hubcap to try and hide it after getting it back. Truck still not in alignment. Wouldn’t go back. Can fix the hubcap and alignment myself later.

We went in for an annual inspection without an appointment and they took care of us right away. They were professional, honest and very efficient. Their costs were fair too. As they finished work on the car, a sudden thunderstorm struck and they let us wait in their very comfortable waiting room until the rain let up. Can’t think of any more superlatives but this place is definitely highly recommended!

The good: Nice enough on the phone and in person. The work got done.The bad: First, we took my truck in for brakes and a fluid change on steering fluid and was told it was a one day job, they would call if there were any issues. Made an appointment for early morning and dropped it off early. Called in the afternoon because I hadn’t heard anything. Was told the technician would give me a call in a few minutes. Never heard a thing before the shop closed and my truck spent the night. Not a terribly big deal, but would have been nice to get a call.Then took my wife’s car in for a break fluid change. Made an appointment for 8:00 am and we dropped the car off the night before. Called to check around noon, still hadn’t started the work. Called about 2:00 and it had just gone back for service. My wife needed her car that afternoon so this was a bigger inconvenience. Why did I bother to even make appointments?

The staff is always knowledgeable, helpful, and you sense that they want you to leave with a positive impression. Ive worked with them on my one-off car for five years and theyve always been a pleasure to work with. This time, I ran into some new staff who carry the same torch well.Got A/C repaired and tuned and coolant system repaired. I was surprised at the number of problems the car had, but the recommendations passed the eye test. Prices are a little higher, but generally worth it. Only one was one particular part they said theyd have to take out the dash to replace, but it turns out it didnt. Im glad I did that one myself.

They treated me like I was stupid. I checked oil and brought it back because they didnt fill it properly. They filled out and told me it was all my imagination. They never did oil correctly. Then tried to lie about it

Been here several times over the years, Never a bad experience. Last week I went in for an ignition cylinder replacement, coolant leak and oil change. They pressurized the coolant system and found the coolant bypass pipe was bad, common problem with this model, and replaced it. They never preform any repairs without your authorization. Always provide detailed estimates with parts and labor costs.Paul, one of the service staff called me the following Monday and left me a nice voice mail. It was a courtesy call asking me how the repairs went and if everything was OK. Very nice touch. Some of the other things I have had done here in the past include: Transmission replacement, A/C compressor and condenser replacement and brake job. Always professional and courteous.

Called in first thing one morning to get a quote on an alternator install. The male who answered, which I later found out was Phillip, was not as helpful as expected. Having to deal with this issue for the first time I was not prepared with my vehicles engine size. Phillips tone sounded rude and as if it was an inconvenience for him to look up the info. He also made a snarcky remark about a local auto parts retailer when I mentioned that I was given an estimate for a purchase of a new alternator by them. A quote was texted to me and there was a follow up call from him but I took by business elsewhere.

I’ve had them do two major repairs on my vehicle and it has by far been the best experience I’ve had at repair shop. The service is fast, brought the car in Friday and they had it out by Tuesday. The time before that I dropped it on a Friday and it was done by the following Friday. They can be a little more expensive but it’s worth it for the fast and quality service. Everything I’ve had done has also had a warranty as well so I can drive with peace of mind.

Had a state inspection done- $7. Gentleman at the desk said they were very busy, but they were able to get me in and out in about 45 minutes. Parking is a bit tight, but overall a good experience.

Renewed believer in automotive repair centers thanks to Christian Brothers staff going above and beyond for my family. Paul was a blessing for quickly assisting me with my daughters first car (Christmas present). I asked for a service to be completed and they informed me they will also do a courtesy exam as the vehicle was new to me but still used. Promptly I got an estimate below expected and so I ask if they can replace some cosmetic parts and change the cabin air filter which they agreed to at no cost. Later the day I was informed my vehicle was ready for pick up and immediately I notice the improvement and will be returning soon with other cars.

Christian Brothers Automotive was amazing. I had an appointment scheduled on Wednesday morning at 8am. I had to work so I had asked to drop my vehicle off the day before so I didn’t have to reschedule. They told me up front my diagnostic test cost and told me I’d hear from them by text when my vehicle was looked at. They actually got to looking at my vehicle the day before my appointment and by the end of the day I had decided to go forth with the cost of what was wrong (oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced). My vehicle was ready for pick up the following day at 11am. They were very nice, professional, and efficient. Its nice to be able to have a mechanic shop that has a clean, organized waiting area and a clean restroom. The managers (Paul & Eric) are extremely professional and make sure that you understand exactly what is going on with your vehicle. They are detailed in their approach, in their work ethic and it shows. The technicians are a cut above the rest. My vehicle had a vacuum leak and I had been to many different auto shops and had received all kinds of different explanations. However, at Christian Brothers Automotive, I was given detailed analysis and explanations by the technician as to what might be causing the issue. Also, they pointed out of a couple of other irregularities with my vehicle that no other shop had mentioned to me. I was really impressed and, more importantly, appreciative of that. Its hard to find a mechanic shop that you can trust with your vehicle and that is going to do quality work that is based on such an educated analysis. You find that here with Christian Brothers. First off I sent my card to them and asked do they have courtesy pick up the guy told me no when I get there by Uber theres a courtesy van sitting right in their driveway when I asked him about it he says oh we only do it sometimes if the people are in the area I was only 3 mi away. Then they quoted me on a price then when I told him it was 3 times above the amounted it would cost at any other shop in the area they brought it down and continue to bring it down till I stop complaining because of the price gouging and it still cost $70 more than book value. They have some very smooth talkers but are con artist trust me I dont write reviews often

My wife has been very pleased with CBAs maintenance of her vehicles and shes very selective about whom is trusted with them. Ive noticed a rattle that I thought was coming from the under carriage and expected to replace struts / shocks in my 2014 Lexus. Brought my car in for a noise coming from my front suspension last week. I work on my own cars when I can but have been busy lately, and decided to drop the car off with them to see if they could track it down. They found that a sway bar link (that Id previously installed myself) had started coming loose and they offered to tighten it up for a small charge and send it back home with me to make sure the noise was gone.I appreciated their honesty on what was wrong, not charging me for a part that wasnt needed just to make a buck.They called me back today to check on me and make sure the noise was gone. Noise has since been fixed and I told them as such. it was nice to get a follow up call

Friendly staff! Got in first thing in the morning for an oil change and state inspection. They were done before I could finish my complimentary cup of (quite tasty) coffee, and with the oil change coupon from that book of faces it was the same price as changing the oil myself. Didnt try to sell me unnecessary services, which is a big plus over other places Ive been.

As a woman that is not very knowledgeable about Vehicle Maintenance, I Trust this Shop 100%. Rolf, the Owner is a Great Person and Paul and Eric the Service Advisors are Amazing! I took my IS350 for regular servicing plus to check overall performance of the car. All my concerns about my car were addressed promptly, they performed an initial diagnosis and sent a detailed report along with the cost which I think is a sign of excellent customer service. No surprises there and my car was ready by EOD. They also offered me ride back home when I dropped off the car- which was a nice gesture.

The service was great, and they actually fixed the problem at a reasonable rate. I would recommend them and use them again!

May 6, 2021 Review for Service on May 4-5:Adjusting my review from 5 stars to 2 stars. A week or two after my first visit (see below), I started experiencing pulsation in my brakes. After my car was inspected yesterday, May 5th, it turns out that the rotors were in fact warped and so they needed resurfacing and new brake pads. It seems that when it was checked the first time on March 19th, the rotors were not inspected thoroughly (possibly because it was a Friday afternoon and they didn’t feel like doing their due diligence?). Additionally, I was given a 2:30 pm appointment on May 4th. I left work early that day to drop off the car and was told the oil change and tire rotation could be done that day, but that diagnosis of the brake pulsation and delayed start/ignition wouldn’t take place until the next morning. Sounds fair. But when I called the next morning at 8:30 am, nothing had been done. So what was the point of the 2:30 appointment the day before and having to leave work early? This place gets backed up probably due to the fact that they are closed on weekends. While that seems great for employees, it is highly inconvenient for customers. They also found other issues with my car but I decided not to have them fix those because I found these services cheaper at another shop with more convenient hours and quicker turnaround times. Also, they charged me $62 just to diagnose the starter/ignition delay - would it cost this much elsewhere? Probably not and, in hindsight, I should have been more skeptical before approving that job. All that said, I do appreciate their resurfacing my rotors instead of fully replacing them which is what the other CBA recommended (see below) and which would have cost more.March 20, 2021 Review for Service on March 19:Unfortunately another CBA recommended new front brakes and rotors for me which would have cost about $450. That was several months ago and I am glad I did not pursue those repairs. Just yesterday I checked out this CBA in Alamo Heights since it is closer to my place. It turns out I still have 80% of my front brake pads and I did not need the replacement. I appreciate their honesty and enabling me to keep the money in my pocket for now. They completed my state inspection for $7 and I was well on my way! I appreciate their available appointment times, timeliness, communication, and honest work!

This was my first time at Christian Brothers. They are very professional and prompt. They will give you a price estimate for what you need done. Of course, they will also recommend other issues they find, but you dont have to have the other things done if you dont want to, but at least you know about potential future issues. My vehicle was ready the next day. I appreciated the courtesy rides home and back to pickup my vehicle. I would use their services again in the future.

The incompetence of this automotive shop is unbearable!!! After multiple shop visits and thousands of dollars down the drain, my car still isnt fixed. In fact my car is worse off now than before it was brought in. The Service Manager, Eric, was unprofessional and refused to take blame for his faults in handling the situation! Paul, the store director, also lacked professionalism and was complacent throughout the entire process. Dont go to this shop, it is not worth the time, money or headache. Please learn from my mistakes and never step foot in this unfaithful establishment.

While traveling east in my 69 Lincoln Mark III I had some issues concerning me about the car.My mechanic did find a potential problem leading to my concern of rear wheel vibration. He made a quick repair which (helped) the problem, not fully resolved but forward progress. They were very busy, didnt have time to look at my rough idle concern, and as a non resident traveler I couldnt easily leave the car. Nevertheless, they were helpful, although the cost was steep 💸💸💸

There always used to be a distrust for repair shops with me because of getting screwed over in the past. Walking into Christian Brothers just felt like going to see a friend or family member.The staff is extremely kind, they work with you as a person not a number or client.It just feels like they really care about people and their work. I can not recommend them enough.Safety during covid was also a big concern for them, with everyone social distancing and wearing masks.They will have us as a customer for life.

The service they provided to me was a pre vehicle purchase inspection on a used car from a nearby auto dealer that ended up having a lot of issues.This location on Austin Hwy gave a very thorough 1.5 hour extensive inspection and they provided a detailed assessment with photos to include an estimated repair and replacement quote.Eric and Paul at the service desk were very helpful and professional. I would strongly recommend them for any future services.The inspection essentially saved my oldest daughter from purchasing a used car with a lot of issues that would have more than likely left her stranded in the next month or so.What a horrible Experian that helped in avoiding as this would have been her first car.Thank you Christian Brothers -Austin Hwy for such an outstanding service.

Simple and easy to work and communicate with the company. Their team is great on communicating updates and progress with you. The turnover time is amazing with pretty much next day results/completion.

Outstanding service, price and work! My son is a student in San Antonio and I reside along the border. His vehicle broke down and Christian Brothers Automotive helped tow our vehicle to their shop. I made all the arrangements over the phone from start to finish. They had my vehicle repaired in two days for a very reasonable price. They made it a very stress free experience.
