This place opened during early covid days. It is located in a renovated house and looks adorable! The pumpkin latte is homemade with no syrups, very good! They also sell empanadas which are delicious. The second time we went they were still cold in the middle but the first time they were great. Beautiful outdoor and indoor seating areas. Street parking only.
Dear LaCoop team, google doesn’t allow to respond to a review so I’m editing this one. It’s a beautiful cafe but overpriced. I ordered a $6 veggie burrito, but it seems like there was a mistake and I got a gluten free one. The tiniest coffee I’ve had in a very long time. It wasn’t even fully filled and cost $3,50. The pricing and sizes are confusing, Please see the picture. Flat while is listed under 12oz
Great local coffee shop with a wonderful purpose. Owners and staff alike are friendly and thoughtful. Coffee and tea drinks are well made and fairly priced. Love that they sell food and goods from other small businesses. Definitely worth the trip if youre not in the neighborhood. Can enjoy a morning or midday coffee inside or relaxing outside
What a wonderful addition to the Fort Totten/Tacoma residents! We ordered an espresso drink (latte) and a medium roast drip, which were fantastic. They also freshly roast their beans (from Guatemala) every few weeks, which is apparent from the quality taste of their brews. We bought a bag of beans to brew at home for the week, but we will be coming back soon!
Tried La Coop one time and it quickly turned into a weekly Friday treat to pick up two iced lattes. Love walking into a bungalow with such a cheerful vibe. I enjoy all the outdoor seating options, including that front porch life of my dreams. The pastries are great and I love that they offer paper straws. Friendly staff too. Love it so much I bought a t-shirt!
Horchata was very good but serving size of chia oatmeal was very small. Needed to be 2x to be worth the price.
I love the dark roast... seriously one of the best in the city. The people are always the warmest and friendliest as well.
Like a good neighbor. A true hub in the community and a beautiful space with tasty coffee. Favorite porch in DC.
The owners are wonderful people and a pleasure to do business with. I would recommend their coffee to anyone. They have an extremely close relationship with all parts of the supply chain so they are able to maintain good quality all the way from growing to roasting and finally serving.
I love La Coop. The staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious, and Juan Luis & Stephanie treat everyone like family. And don’t get me started on the coffee. Whether I have it there or brew it at home, it’s consistently the best coffee I’ve ever had, anywhere. So happy to have La Coop in the neighborhood.
Friendly staff, yummy food (love the burritos!) and plenty of cute outdoor seating. new fave! tip them well!
Stopped in today for the first time, and this place is great! Picked up a cold brew and ham & cheese croissant. Looking forward to coming by regularly!
Super cute coffee shop I come to all the time when doing field visits for work. The staff is always super friendly, the coffee tastes good and I appreciate how its responsibly sourced from the owners family in Guatemala.
Nice place but limited menu options.
The cold brew was delicious, and it really helped cool me down on a hot day! Would recommend!
This was a such a cute place! I loved the decor, it was easy to find, clean, friendly service, and my iced Chai was awesome.Wifi: solidOutlets: quite a fewAccessibility: there was indoor and outdoor seating (including a porch!) But Im not sure I saw a ramp.
La Coop is a neighborhood gem. The coffee is fantastic. The staff are wonderful. They promote other businesses in the community. We need more Black & brown owned small businesses.
When other businesses and shops in the area are kind of dead but this place is hopping, youre know youre doing something right. They have more of a choose your roast selection of coffee vs. flavor or origin (i e., no pour overs), but its all coming from a great local source in Guatemala.
Great coffee, tea and food. The sweet potato and chorizo breakfast burrito is 🔥.
When we first drove by I was a little skeptical because of the area but as soon as we walked in my entire perception changed. I loved it inside, it was so bright and fun; and while there wasnt much space inside to order, it was still a great experience. I was so surprised how delicious the scones were!! Mostly since I have never really liked scones but theirs were so moist and flavorful...I would go back just for one of them. For my coffee I got the dirty horchata and the other half got an iced nitro. I really liked my coffee but I did find both to be lacking in depth. They seemed to have a cheap base coffee that doesnt really stand out. even the nitro was a little bit bitter but still smooth enough to be considered a nitro. Overall, I would come back for sure but I cant say the coffee was the best Ive ever had.
La Coop staff is fantastic & the coffee is superb. If you haven’t stopped by yet, it’s a neighborhood gem. Manor Park/Brightwood is well served with this excellent new small business. Thriving during a pandemic is a rare achievement.
Great customer service and prompt with our breakfast sandwiches/ coffee. The dirty horchata is a must try. Will be visiting again soon. Keep up the great work guys!
La Coop will be my spot for chai lattes, blueberry donuts and outdoor reading. Friendly and efficient service and great aesthetics.
My daughter and nephew enjoyed the La Coup experience on an early Sat morning and let me know how good it was. My family enjoys the ambience, the product and the service every time.
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in DC. It’s a super cute bungalow with great indoor and outdoor seating, but more importantly, for coffee snobs like myself, the coffee is terrific.Juan Luis, the owner, is sourcing beans directly from a coffee cooperative in his hometown of Union Cantinil, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. He works with the farmers to assure they get fair prices and he roasts in house (a light, medium, and dark). Also, their iced dirty horchata is not to be missed.
Friendly staff, yummy treats, delicious beverages. Perfect!
The best coffee shop on Kennedy Street! Quality beans from the source. Family owned. Neighborhood supported
What a gem! Great coffee shop with a creative menu and peaceful atmosphere. Lovely decor with comfy seating. Even better enjoyed on a sunny day. The place has WiFi for those who need it. The ice horchata is delightful!
I love this place. I just moved to the area and was happy to find out there was a local coffee shop just a few blocks away. I love the vibe and everyone that is there is super friendly. Delicious coffee.! 10/10
Kind and knowledgeable staff. Excellent products - everything from the pastries, empanadas, coffee, breakfast burritos, bagelitos, and specials. AMAZING! You can’t go wrong here.
Just started working in the area and was looking for coffee options. Great space and delicious coffee. Service was friendly and quick. 😊 Will definitely return!
Always love the coffee, the breakfast food, and the staff. Our favorite local coffee shop.
This great café is a new arrival to the Brightwood Park neighborhood! Theyve got tasty food (though some of the popular stuff sells out early!) and delicious coffee - Im a fan of the cold brew. Theyve also got some Latin American specialties like horchata and empanadas. There is also ample outdoor seating (including a backyard area) and sensible pandemic precautions are in place.Dog friendly, family friendly, virtual work friendly - what more can you ask for? This neighborhood needs more places like this! Highly recommended.
The best coffee in DC (and I’ve tried A LOT). Service is always great and coffee is always delicious.
Great addition to the neighborhood. I buy their beans to make coffee at home during the week, but still go in for iced lattes on the weekends. And my husband doesn’t drink coffee but loves their food offerings and chai!
Great Coffee! Excellent empanadas. So glad they joined our community. Once COVID is over I hope they continue to develop outdoor space if it is allowed.Today I picked up a bag of coffee beans and got a free latte. Their rewards program is legit!
Great local coffee shop in the neighborhood. Lots of outdoor space for dining once the pandemic is behind us. Decent selection of tea and lots of local food options. The burritos are somewhat lackluster but thats true for the vast majority of burritos in the entire DMV. The spicy sausage is anything but spicy.Hopefully they can find someone to provide more legitimate burritos to put the shop over the top
I absolutely ❤ La Coop! Best coffee in Ward 4. Juan and all of his associates are very customer friendly and instantly makes you feel like you have a home! They are the best!!
Best coffee in the area for sure, and the cutest coffee shop. I LOVE their breakfast empanadas and iced coffee. I visit here too often and look forward to them expanding to another location in DC. Their staff is equally as fantastic.
Friendly staff and quality Chai tea lattes makes my heart happy.
Fantastic local coffee shop. I also love the people, the vibes, and the decoration at this place :)
I love this local coffee shop in my neighborhood. The drinks are great, place is clean, and plentiful outdoor seating.
Love this place, such an amazing addition to the neighborhood. I drink the light roast every morning and stop by for horchata lattes frequently. My litmus test for good coffee is that it should taste good black, and theirs is smooth, light, and floral with absolutely no bitterness. Friendly baristas and lots of space to sit, both indoors and out.
Great little coffee shop in a house-turned-storefront. Theres plenty of street parking nearby. We generally go to grab coffee and a pastry and hang out at one of the many picnic tables.
Great people and service, great food and drink, great space and atmosphere!
So happy that Juan was able to open this shop during a pandemic. What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! The coffee is FANTASTIC and all of the employees are helpful and friendly. The inside of the shop is beautiful and there is lots of seating outside. This coffee is so good and I am happy that they sell their beans so that I can enjoy La Coop at home too.
Great coffee and pastries!
A beautiful locally owned coffee shop nestled right in the middle of the neighborhood. Juan, the owner, is so nice and inviting. The decor and vibe inside is beautiful and cozy. I ordered an iced dirty chai with almond milk and man was that delicious! I also purchased this cute little wallet too!I definitely plan on frequenting this establishment and I highly recommend it. Thanks Juan!
Great coffee & super nice staff
La Coop is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Amazing staff, a great place to meet up and (most importantly) delicious coffee and snacks.
Every visit to La Coop is a delight! Though partial to their dirty horchata and flat white, I haven’t ordered wrong yet: everything is good.
Delicious and well priced cold brew coffee. Great service and everyone wearing masks properly. Seating area indoors, on porch, and on the front yard make it such a homey and beautiful place to sit with a few friends! So excited about this place.
I met Juan & Stephanie at their pop up at Cheesemonster. I immediately connected with them and their coffee and here’s why : from the moment the coffee bean is planted all the way to your hot drink, Juan and his family are in charge of the whole process. The high quality is undeniable!! The new spot at 1st and Kennedy NW is fabulous, a lot of outdoor space to social distance and the interior is furnished with style. I go there mostly everyday and sometimes twice. The pastries and other food options are delicious as well. I really can’t find anything negative to say. Great coffee, solid food options, comfortable seating and last but not least the Staff is very friendly.
My favorite coffee shop in DC. Great coffee, amazing pastries, and a cool vibe! Also they are really nice :)
Charming neighborhood coffeeshop in a converted home. Delicious coffee, tea, and little bites to eat. Picnic tables and front porch seating!
Love the place. Cant wait to grab a coffee and work from here when the weather is warm.
I love having an authentic coffee shop in my neighborhood. The quality of coffee, pastries and service is a treat!
So excited to have this gem in the neighborhood! The coffee is amazing, the decor is beautiful and the coffee is delicious. Plenty of outdoor seating makes it the perfect spot for our current moment. Couldnt be happier that theyre open!
We found La Coop Coffee by chance. We live In Ellicott City and Juan the owner stopped in where I work. We heard he was opening his coffee shop and decided to try his coffee. We were delighted to find IT WAS SOME OF THE BEST COFFEE WE HAVE HAD! We drink a lot if coffee including most of the local roasters...and this coffee stands out as one of the best! Congratulations Juan & Stefanie on your creation. We will either drive down or order more online.
Smooth expresso. Great place to just hang. Definitely doing to frequent.
Very good place in my neighbourhood.love it.good coffee, good pastries good stuff
The service is great! The coffee was delicious, not crazy about the burrito I had. Overall I enjoyed my visit and will def be back.
Fantastic single origin beans and very friendly establishment. The same family roasts the beans and works the farm, and owns the shop. Really nice addition to the coffee scene.** The cortado I got on my second visit was not quite at the same level of quality as my first visit. Not sure why the variation.
Great local coffee shop with excellent coffee and a comfortable environment.
Wonderful staff, great food, yummy coffee, good tea selection. Staff and other clientele wearing masks and being conscientious about space. Great outdoor seating. Beautiful indoor space, cant wait to use it later!
What a great place. Open air seating for meetings, nice grassy area for the kids! They roast their own coffee beans which is really amazing!
Love this place! I’m so glad this neighborhood has a good coffee shop now! The coffee was good, the staff were very friendly - I will be going back frequently.
Very rude staff!
Excellent! Must go. Great for kids and even quiet outdoor business meetings during COVID. They have at least five large benches for families to sit and enjoy their food. Perfect for business meetings b/c people can sit at least six feet apart outdoors and bring their computers.Good for kids given healthy juice (no sugar) and other snack options - yogurt, snack pouches. Every option for the coffee enthusiast. And lastly, cute snacks inspired by both Latin America and NY! “Bagelitos” and even pizza.Lastly the owner allows kids and others to come see the bean roasting process - done right on site!
La Coop Coffee House is a family-owned coffee shop in Manor Park in Northwest D.C. just off of Kennedy Street (home of many bright murals). Its in a converted house with picnic tables in the back yard and seating in the front yard and porch. Inside, theres a couch and chairs in the living room with striking wallpaper. There is also window stool seating and tables inside. The counter is lit by a beautiful La Coop sign with friendly staff behind the register. The man taking orders is part of the family that owns the farm in Guatemala where the beans come from. Once they arrive in Washington, D.C., the beans are roasted in the back. You can buy bags of the light, medium, or dark roast on-site.In addition to a large coffee menu, they also sell horchatas, tea, and chai lattes. Pastries are behind a glass display and range from bagel bites to chocolate chip and banana muffins. The prices were on par with other top coffee shops in the area.Four stars for their inspiring story, tasty coffee, and home vibes!
This is my favorite place for coffee and the croissants are delicious too.
The best lattes, friendly neighborhood service, and direct trade coffee. We LOVE having La Coop in the neighborhood!
Amazing coffee shop! So glad to have it in the neighborhood and the dirty horchata is delicious!
A great addition to the neighborhood, and service is fast and friendly! Coffee and food is delicious and a great place to stop by or stay a while.
The coffee shop every neighborhood needs. Plus excellent coffee.
Best latte Ive had in years
Lovely place in the neighbourhood! Finally a nice gentrified coffee shop in the area. It’s worth the drive for enjoy their coffee, pastries and sandwiches
I come here at least twice a week, in the morning, with my pup and SO. Very well decorated, clean and efficient. The coffee is sourced from Guatemala at above market price for an ethical supply chain. They make a great latte — never burnt — and have some tasty breakfast empanadas. There’s a chorizo and egg that’s killer, especially if you throw on a little hot sauce.Lately I’ve been hitting the pumpkin latte. It’s not too sweet and you get some good pumpkin flavor. They must use a purée.I’ll also recommend the bagelitos (bagel bombs). All the pastries are from Fresh Baguette in Bethesda — delivered fresh every morning.Enjoy!
I love this place— the delicious drinks (get the dirty horchata), the aesthetic/vibe, and most of all, that it is family-owned with a model which sounds like a more equitable process for coffee farmers.
Awesome place to start your day.
They were out of most things and did not have an impressive selection of items on the menu.
Love this place. Great coffee and great service.
This place just opened and its bright and airy and great. I only got an iced coffee and a croissant but its a great addition to the neighborhood and I wish them well.
My new favorite hidden gem. Excellent coffee, food, service, and ambience!
Friendly staff and great drinks and treats!
What a great coffee shop on the edge of a neat little neighborhood. I came upon it by accident while out strolling con la nieta and ended up talking with Juan, the owner, for a bit. The beans come from his familys plots in Guatamala, and he roasts them onsite. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is friendly, and theres plenty of room for social distancing. Nobody else was in the backyard while we were there, so we played there. Highly recommended place. Sure hope its a success. Its great for the neighborhood.
La Coop is a charming local coffee shop that does the basics right! From a perfectly sweet mocha, to the best flat white coffee I’ve had in months, this place is a welcome addition to the Kennedy Street neighborhood. The inside is clean, cozy and an Instagram dream. I’m surprised that this newly opened cafe is able to offer such a wide variety of coffee drinks all sourced from fair-trade bean farmers in Guatemala. Not to mention the delicious assortment of fresh pastries for sale every morning! Where else are you going to find chorizo empanadas for breakfast? We’ve been three times since they opened on 7/1/20 and we can’t wait to make this our new favorite hangout place!
Great place, amazing coffee, and friendly place!
Excellent coffee, wonderful vibe, great direct trade model. This is my new spot.
Great coffee place to have in the neighborhood. Lots of different choices for coffee, chai, horchata, and various pastries.
