I went to get the sound check on our car after a friend whose a mechanic said to get the noise that is coming from the car looked at. Well the person in charge called when I left the car and I could tell by his statements they didnt even test drive the car. I asked if you test drove the car which side is the sound coming from? He placed me on hold and Said we will look into it further. They tried to say it needed a part but without test driving it?? By the second call I was frustrated because the person In charge kept cutting me off and repeating a sound I didnt say. On top of that, I got into my car, recorded myself on the ride home and the sound is recorded. If you supposedly test drove the car 3 times you should have heard what was recorded from me getting in the car immediately after you supposedly test drove it.

I would love to take this time out to say that Mike is an exceptional business man that will take good care of your needs. I just got to Alabama and my transmission went out on me and he stayed right on top of things when it came to giving me the best customer service. Gave great advice and made me feel more comfortable about my Jeep being in the shop. Also let’s not forget the rest of the team. VERY FRIENDLY AND CARING!!! Thank you all!!!!

I had a Dodge transmission rebuilt here three years ago and it’s still running perfectly today, after two rounds of cross country driving.I highly recommend this shop if it’s still ran by the same set people, owner and master mechanic...I woke up today appreciating their work, so I logged on the grid to leave some good words.

Really friendly and honest staff. They went above and beyond with seeing that our familys main vehicle arrived back to us with no further issues. We had it previously seen by a different mechanic shop that trashed our vehicle, lied about the labor and parts used with our money, and stole a great deal of time and money from us. We had it towed to AAMCO and very quickly had it repaired and back. They were in constant communication with us on what was getting worked on, how much parts were, and made us feel like a priority. Highly recommend this shop. These guys know their profession well and arent out to screw customers over.

The AAMCO on Putman Drive NW Huntsville was recommended to me by a fellow Retired Vet when I explained my need for someone to diagnose a problem with my Dodge Journey. I was given multiple quotes from other local mechanics and the Dodge dealership service department before I took it to James and his crew. It was hands down one of the best decisions Ive made. Within an hour they had diagnosed the problem and gave me a very reasonable quote and now the Journey is driving better than ever. The office staff is great, Jason the lead tech is extremely knowledgeable, James the owner makes it a point to go out of his way and make sure his customers are happy. I first found them because I had a vibration and wanted a shop that could diagnose and repair both engines AND transmissions. It seems like thats hard to find in Huntsville. I was initially frustrated because I made an appointment first thing on a Friday morning. I waited an hour till they finally looked at it, and then i was told they though it was the u-joints or rear differential but they couldnt diagnose it further because they didnt have time. I then made an appointment to take it back the following Monday morning. They looked at it and turned it around in shorter time than what they estimated. It drives great now. For the parts and labor required it was very fair pricing. They are super nice and informative. I think because they are so great, they sometimes have more work than they can handle. Hopefully i wont need any more work done, but if I do, ill definitely bring it back here.

The first time I went to AAMCO, I asked for a quote to overhaul the transmission. James was honest with me and told me that it didnt need to be done, told me what was actually wrong with my truck and saved me A LOT of money. I was impressed that they didnt try to just take my money. I now take all my vehicles here and have been very satisfied with all the work they have done.

I have visited this shop on numerous occasions and my experience has always be extremely pleasant. I dont care what folks have heard about this shop in the previous years, I can assure you that those issues left with the previous owner. My understanding is that the new owner took over just about a year ago, a former military officer who is devoted to his customers and their satisfaction. He and all his employees seem to very experienced and good at what they do. They have earned my business through honest diagnostics testing, fair pricing and trustworthy work. I paid $3,500 to get them to rebuild my transmission and it was done in a week and a half. It wouldnt go into high gear and I ended up taking it back twice. It has now been in the shop for 3 and a half weeks and the vehicle still is not working at all. I am taking to another mechanic to see if he can fix it since I am now down that money for nothing.

James and his crew are fantastic. They were very busy when I came by for a diagnosis of my problem, but James was able to take 10 minutes and tell me what needed done. I was having significant vibration/noise at highway speeds, and my rear U joint in my drive shaft was failing. James worked me in for the following Monday, and did great work at a very fair price. Big kudos to him and his team! I will be back.

AAMCO - I walk in and it looks like one of those old shops from years ago, not dirty but not what I have been used to since all my experience for many years has been Woody Anderson or Firestone (both of whom I like) but Route 66 (my 3rd party warranty vendor) has a contract with them and they are not going to pay Century Volvo $6000 (I dont blame them). I talk to the guy, let him drive the car and he calls Route 66 and tells me he will get it worked out and call me. Surprisingly he does and took him 2-3 days (we are closing in on Christmas by now) to find the parts and work out a price with Route 66. Due to holidays and shipping it took a bit longer than usual but today I picked up my car, everything was fixed, my cost was $177 AND they fixed the Miles To Empty thing the Volvo place had messed up with an $411 upgrade. I asked the guy what he did (thought maybe I missed a button) he said they always disconnect the battery on most cars and when they reconnect it reboots the electronics and fixes many things. (this means for $411 I did not even get a decent software installation from Century Volvo, even my PC requires a reboot after a software upgrade).Bottom Line: I starting this by taking it into Century Volvo on 5 December and ended picking the car up from AAMCO today 3 Jan 18 (I am assuming the holidays added a week or more to this).If I ever darken the doors of Century Volvo again it will be for something I absolutely, positively cannot get done ANYWHERE else.For a 3rd part warranty service I will give Route 66 an 8/10 Stars. They were helpful, the guy kept me informed, it was not easy and required a larger investment of my time than I liked but the end result was a good job at a fair price with a 12 month/12000 mile warranty from AAMCO (and I still have 4.5 years of Route 66 warranty left.)Like I said, the first impression of AAMCO was not overwhelming but the end result was great AND on a note for some of us. I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that almost nobody works on including Ford but they will replace it for about $4000. AAMCO is going to send a guy off for training so they can work on them. I love the Freestyle and if that CVT ever went out I probably could not afford to spend $4000 to fix it but if they can fix it for half of that or less I now know where to take it if I ever have a problem.

I experienced the work of a true professional (Allen at AAMCO in Huntsville AL). He is knowledgeable, experienced, and reassuring -- Weve got this. And he did too. All good.

Good fast service. They took care of me even after my repairs. Just make sure you talk to JAMES. They replaced my torque converter, and after the repair I had an exhaust leak and they fixed it no problem. Very rarely do I write reviews, but James Vance and his crew went so far beyond what true customer service is that I had to give them 5 stars. My situation is, for their sake, unique. I took my truck in to have a transmission rebuild. They had to pull it out on 3 different occasions and start from scratch. I know this sounds ludicrous, but having the owner of the business drive me to get a rental car and pay for it for several weeks just to make sure my truck was 100% correct and driving properly means the world to me. I not only have a perfectly functioning transmission but also several friends out of this. Took my truck in on Wednesday morning to get it worked on and they told me it would be done in a couple of days. Friday rolls around with no call. Saturday and Sunday they are closed. I call them around 1 on Monday and they tell me they havent even looked at it yet. Im told they were a man short for the last 3 work days which put them behind which I would have been sympathetic towards if they had even thought about calling me. I had to get rides for 5 days because they couldnt just pick up the phone and let me know what was going on.Worst part is when I went to just get the key so I could take it somewhere else it looked like vehicles that werent even there when I dropped my truck off had been dropped off and finished. Pretty disappointed.

It was one of those weeks where things were going pretty good. My Nissan was not contributing to the positive Karma. The transmission was going out and I knew it. It would hesitate before going into gear, then jerk pretty bad when it finally did. I had a lot to get done, and didnt have time for the hassle, but I knew the alternative could be standing on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck. That is when I decided to call James Vance at AAMCO. I had been using the same mechanic close to home for a decade, but he was an hour and half away. Plus I was dreading the price tag.I called James and he told me to bring it in. I drove the car down to AAMCO, and had to wait less than five minutes! James drove me back to my office so that I wouldnt have to arrange for a ride. He called me later that day and explained what the problem was - gave me options and clear bottom line quotes on each, and a timeline for when it would be done. The next day he called me when it was ready and picked me up at my office and took me back to the shop. The cost was amazingly less than what I had expected and my little Nissan ran like a dream!!! Amazing service! I had the transmission go out in my 2005 Chevrolet Suburban with the 4l-60e the week before I was supposed to leave town for Thanksgiving. I called AAMCO and they had a tow truck meet me where my truck had broken down and they towed it to their shop free of charge. I normally do my own automotive work both because in my experience shops try to take me for a ride and I find it enjoyable to learn how things work. However, to me automatic transmissions are boxes of voodoo and when you open one the magic escapes and only a witch doctor can put the magic back in. Alan at AAMCO is one of the most skilled witch doctors I have ever met. Being technically minded I had about a million questions and Alan was extremely patient and answered everything with copious detail. He even had another 4L-60 on his bench and was kind enough to use that to demonstrate everything he would be doing to my transmission as well as show me the parts he would be using. I asked him to upgrade the internals for increased reliability and he explained that he does that with every rebuild he does. Needless to say, I felt confident my truck was in good hands. On the way out I met James, the owner of the shop. He was extremely polite and it was obvious he was the sort of businessman that understood his customers were the most important thing that came into his shop. It took all of two days for Alan to rebuild my transmission and I felt this was impressively fast. When I was back on the road, the rebuilt transmission exceeded all of my expectations. My truck literally shifts better than when it was new and even all the upgraded parts Alan had put in the transmission shifted more smoothly than it ever had before. Ive found that sometimes an upgraded transmission can shift excessively firmly, giving it a harsh feeling, yet Alan had struck a perfect balance between the upgraded shifts and overall ride quality. Two months later I went back to the shop for my 10 day checkup and everything looked perfect, I looked at it myself while it was on the lift and everything was in order. AAMCO transmission rebuilds come with an 18 month nationwide warranty thats comforting to have even though I know Im not going to need to use it. After the checkup I told Alan and James Id see them again, but it definitely wouldnt be due to a problem with this truck. I highly recommend AAMCO in Huntsville, they provide the highest quality Ive experienced in both the work they did for me and their customer oriented approach to business, all at highly competitive prices.

Had my wife s Jetta for three months doing a rebiuld on a 09a trans that we paid in full, ever excuse there was after 2 months, called finially said they had it going and would call me back after they test, next day said it was not fixed blamed it on onther parts 3 more weeks went by they still didnt touch the car, told my wife they werent touching the car and gave my $ back, had to have it towed to amco in Nashville where I should have went in the first place, I was told they put the case bearing in transmission wrong reuind the thrust bearing vavle body where they assembled the trans wrong, which was brand new updated Vale body, Ive tried to contact James for day s hopeing they would pay for what they did never called me back had Jason answer told him what had happened acted like he could care less about the parts that got tore up because of there neglect I told him if it had been done right we would be going threw all this I am disabled $ is hard to come by this is the way they treat there customer s, had to contact the corporate amco to try to get something done, most likely will have to get lawyer, I would stay away from these people on any kind of transmission biuld going to cost me $1057 .62 extra to fix there mistakes not to mention the headache s of 3 months and cost of 250 dollar tow bill to Nashville I should have checked yellow page reveiws, this is the way they treated me as a disabled customer, save yourself a headache go to Nashville amco

While on a road trip, the bolt-on hitch holding our bicycles worked itself loose and lost a bolt. The hitch-mount rack holding our bikes then started scraping the road on bumps, so we were stranded til we could sort it out. The needed bolt and rectangular washer couldnt be locally sourced so Jason and the guys in the shop made their own washer plate and tightened it all up to get us safely back on the road. 700+ mi later its still going strong. Thanks for fixin er up, guys. My wife and I appreciate it – had a good time shootin the $h1t with yall, too.
