Nice baristas/staff, good cappuccino, has indoor seating as well as a chill, shaded, backyard-style patio with available heat lamps and greenery. WiFi is good. Donation-based.

Always walk out of here with a smile on my face. The staff is always funny and friendly. The coffee is always great and this is an excellent work-from-home location in Santa Monica. A bit funky for first timers as you pay what you think as opposed to a set price. I believe it is all donation-based / there is charitable aspect as well so what’s not to love

The highest quality pour overs and green tea matcha at the best price possible... you name the price!Such a cool and friendly place.My green tea matcha was spot on and the barista even pointed out that my traditional latte leaf had morphed into somewhat of a turtle. See photos.

This might just be my favorite place to get some work done in Santa Monica. Theres a constant hum of conversation, laptops, entrepreneurs and friends. It has laid back California vibes and I like that. Theres a large backyard with seating, so its a nice place to enjoy coffee and work in the sunshine. They serve a variety of coffees and teas, along with a small selection of baked goods. The best part? Its donation-based, so you can pay what youre able to.

Coolest cafe on the block

Very nice place. Its not some copycat Starbucks. Coffee us good and theres not much food but I guess thats not the point. If I lived in Santa Monica this would be my WFH place. They run everything on donations which was new to me and Im more than happy to help!

Me and my wife had a wonderful time in Metro Cafe. The location is great, the place is cozy and sleek, they offer fresh food and the best coffee. Their staff was also very accommodating to us. Me and my wife will come back for a second visit soon.

This is a great place to work and hang out. There is a great vibe about the place. The food and drinks are all donation based. I am not sure how this works really from a business perspective. I donated what I thought it would cost at a comparable place. They have power cords everywhere, and it was generally quiet.They have a great outdoor seating area.

If you dont just fall in love with the decor (is midcentury rustic a thing?) youll appreciate the friendly and dedicated staff who artfully craft your coffee.Get a punch card, youll be back again and again. This place is far enough off the beaten path for customers to avoid the 3rd street promenade crowd, quiet enough to focus, and large enough for your comrades to gather.

I guess its still the soft opening at this point, the menu is minimal at time of writing. Funny that they would open before having an espresso machine, but its fine by me... its oddly refreshing to just order coffee instead of dealing with a super serious barista. Kind of getting tired of that noise myself. Anyway- Super chill vibe, great layout, design and decor. Will be back to see how it evolves.

Metropolis is a super chic yet paid back space that happens to have pretty legit coffee and tea. I get the point over. No pastries yet just the basics until their hard launch.

I had a few minutes before an appointment nearby and stumbled across Metro Cafe. The place is spacious, yet cozy. Lots of people were working on their laptops or meeting friends there.The barista was incredibly kind and engaging with myself and everyone in front of me. I ordered an oat milk dirty chai - probably the creamiest, yet well-spiced chai I’ve ever had. It wasn’t extra sweet and worked well with the espresso. Hats off to you, sir!As a former barista, I also liked experiencing the “pay what wish” price because I think it makes people more willing to pay for the high quality of the coffee/latte they’re receiving. Would recommend if you’re in the area!

This is a great place to have some stuff done or hang out with friends for a cup of tea or coffee. Chill atmosphere, lots of room and outdoor patio. Jake is a cool guy one of the baristas. Gotta try the Coconut Oolong tea.Place is conveniently located, close to the beach. Fast Wi-Fi connection, some good music playing in the background and lots of lots of light.

This is the best coffee shop in Santa Monica. Its hard to find a non corporate coffee shop now in the santa monica area. The staff is super friendly. Great lighting. Amazing space with lots of cool little nooks. And for me the Wi-Fi is awesome which makes it a great place to get work done.
